Kagome took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. A part of her wanted to do this more than anything, but another…that part was scared. Scared of what he might do…and scared if he had changed.

Just then a nurse in her white uniform whisked into her room. “Good morning Kagome” she smiled. Kagome was always freaked out by these nurses. They saw death and pain and sorrow every day, yet they would always smile and pretend like everything was alright. They thought she needed the shrink…Things were coming along with her psychologist, though she still had random nightmares…images that haunted the back of her mind day in and day out…

She decided not to think about that any longer and tried to focus her attention on the nurse who was now writing something down on a little clipboard and checking her IV. “Good news” she said as she finally finished her scribbling. “The doctors say you can visit your brother for a few minuets today!” she said enthusiastically. “Won't that be fun?”

Kagome mentally shuddered at the all over perkiness of her current visitor. Really, she had known this for a while now…but acted happy, as not to burst the nurse's bubble. She had wanted to see Souta ever since she had awoken, and she knew this was not going to be happy. She knew she was going to cry as soon as she saw him…cry because he was hurt, cry because she was hurt, cry because she knew deep inside…his child-like innocence was gone forever…and he would never be the same again. As the nurse left to give Kagome's status to her doctor, Kagome knew one thing…Souta needed her. As she needed Inuyasha. Maybe, just maybe, if she could get over this mountain, wait out this storm, there would be a rainbow, and friends calling her home.

Part 2

 

Sango's eyes grew wide at the mention of his plan. “It's the only thing that will work!” Inuyasha insisted. Everyone was seated around the small fire in Kiade's little hut. The sun had begun to rise now…and people from the village started to stir from their evening slumber.

“I've already had one in my back” Sango said in almost desperation. “Its nothing but trouble!”

 

Mirouku sighed. “Sango” he said calmly. “It's the only way” After much deliberation, and pulling an all-nighter Inuyasha had come up with a plan. They would take some jewel shards that Sango and Mirouku found while waiting for Inuyasha and Kagome to return, and implant them in their arms. That was the only way they could get through the well.

Sango looked down at the dirt floor and stroked a sleeping Kirara in her lap. She had no other choice. She looked up to Miruoku. He was just as scared about this as she was. So many questions…Would this work? Is it painful? If it did work…what would being in Kagome's time be like?

“O.k.” said Inuyasha firmly “Its decided, we'll go through the well this afternoon. Now where are the shards?” He asked looking to Sango who slowly rose and handed the drowsy fire-cat to Mirouku. She returned a few moments later with a wooden box and solemnly gave it to Inuyasha, returning to her spot on the floor. Inuyasha opened the box to see three gleaming shards. “Just enough” he said “Now, who's first?”
