Another new arrival...Kagome herd the sirons screeching as the huge truck pulled into the emergency room entrance. Again, it was another late night for her...she just couldn't sleep. This wasn't the first night she had liyed awake, staring out her window to the flashing lights below. Inuyahsa had been gone for three days now. A small part of her wondered if he was ever comming back...'Of course he is!' she told herself. 'He's probably just making sure Sango and Mirouku are alright'. That was another thing on her mind...her friends in the futile era. Were they alright? Did they know she was o.k.? Did they find any new shards? She just wished Inuyahsa would hurry up...She sighed, and looked over to the bed beside her. There lay Souta, curled up into ball under the blankets, his legs safely pulled up to his chest, and his thumb in his mouth. A lot had changed in him since the 'innicident', he hardly spoke, but when he did, it was only to, or about Kagome. He had reverted to many of his childhood habits, i.e. sucking his thumb, but slowly he was making progress...so said the doctors. They thought it would be best for him to stay in the same room as his sister, maybe with the support of the one person he seemed to look up to the most, he would start to heal. Kagome knew her brother was hurt, and she was too, but Kagome had learned to shut it away. She had taken all the images, and all the suffering, and just locked it up in a little box in the back of her mind. She told herself she wasn't going to open it up again until she was ready, and truthfully she didn't knw if she'd ever be.
Sango, looked up to Mirouku. He had done it, his jewel was in place, now it was her turn. She took a deep brethe in as she stood and crossed the room, kneeling before Inuyasha. "O.k Inuyasha" she sighed uncertinly. "I'm ready" , she turned her head to look at Mirouku across the room, and in that instant, let her true fear show. She didn't know what this shard would do to her, and if it would even suceed in it's purpose of getting her though the well. She closed her eyes and looked back to Inuyasha once more. He had just set the wooden box down, and was feeling the tip of the shard with his fingertips. It pricked him, and a small trail of blood ran down his finger.
"Ow!" he said, licking his wound. He extended his hand, in which Sango placed her arm. Once again, Inuyasha tested her skin, yes, this arm would do. Humans were so fragile...just a little slit and they could bleed for hours..."Ready?" he asked her, placing the shard to her arm.
"Yes" Sango said strongly. This was for Kagome, she had to do it. Inuyasha, as before, placed just a small amount of pressure to the shard, just enough to break it through the skin. Soon it started to glow as her red blood started to make little streams down her arm, and onto Inuyasha's hand.
'Great' he thought. 'With her and the monk, I'm going to reek of human blood for months!'
Sango's body began to absorb the shard, as Mirouku's did. The pain was immense. Sango closed her eyes tightly, and gritted her teeth as hard as she could, trying to take her mind off what was going into her body. Soon the shard flashed, and started to heal the wound it had made. The pain stared to ease, and as Sango opened her eyes, she realized that Mirouku had come behind her, and that she was leaning hevily on him. She blushed "Thank you Inuyasha" she said looking to her arm, the spot still glowing. "O.k." she sighed "Lets go"
