InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Bleed and Breathe ❯ death ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
I do not own Inuyasha though I wish I did along with about a billion others. I do claim the original characters, etc. Oh, yea, Rumiko Takahashi is the poo.

Death

Pain. That was the only thing she felt. Unbearable and excruciating. ‘Why am I still conscious? Please just let it end.’ she thought. She looked down at her stomach to see the blood oozing out around his hand that still held its position in her gut. The blood and vile caught in her throat and the words she wanted to say stuck with it. Her eyes moved to his, the beautiful golden orbs of the hanyou she had entrusted her life to more times than she could count. “Why?” she coughed out, blood sputtering out her mouth. She closed her eyes as he removed his hand from her and she fell to the ground in a heap. She did not move, did not breathe. Kagome was dead.

Inuyasha dropped to his knees. “What have I done?” he whispered to himself, staring between his hands and Kagome. Kikyo walked up behind him. If he had turned to look at her he would have seen the smile of satisfaction on her face as she placed a hand on his shoulder. “Good boy Inuyasha.” she whispered to him. She turned to face the monk and demon slayer. Anger, hurt, betrayal, shock, it was all too much to take. Before they could move or even speak Kikyo spoke. “Keep this as a lesson you two, and remember it well. With a simple command I can make your lives end just as quickly as Kagome’s.”

“Why? How could you be so cruel? What did Kagome ever do to you? She didn’t deserve this, especially not for Inuyasha to kill her.” Sango shouted at the undead priestess. She was too pissed to even cry at the loss of her best friend, her sister. They had been through so much together, Kagome had always been her rock and now that was gone. Another person she loved was taken before her eyes.

Kikyo laughed. “Why did I do it? That answer is simple. I could. Inuyasha belongs to me. He promised himself to me a long time ago. Kagome came into his life and threatened that promise. She tried to take him away from me and I simple could not allow that, so I eliminated her. I thought it would be fitting for Inuyasha to be the one to do it though.” She looked down at Inuyasha who hadn’t moved the entire time. He just sat there with his ears pressed down against his head. “Now, since Kagome is gone it looks to me that you need another jewel seeker since none of you can feel the jewel itself.”

“Ha! You think you are going to just kill our best friend and join with us you bitch! You’re crazy! Kagome was the heart and soul of our group and she is gone now because you are jealous clay shell with nothing but hatred keeping you going. You were someone that was once revered as being a powerful priestess but look at you now.” Sango moved to attack her but Kikyo had already hitched an arrow by the time Sango reached for hiraikotsu.

“Watch your tongue bitch or I will end your life here and now as well. Why be so quick to die?”

Miroku put his Hand on Sango’s shoulder. “There will be no more killing here today.” he said more to Sango than Kikyo. Sango turned to glare at Miroku. He spared her a glance before nodding his head in Kikyo’s direction and looking over there. Sango followed his gaze and realized he was looking not at the miko, but at Inuyasha. He hadn’t moved or spoken, he just knelt there cradling Kagome’s body in his arms. They couldn’t see it but he was crying. They did know that he was hurting and Miroku was right. Inuyasha couldn’t take anymore, especially if he had to kill again.

‘This will end my friend,’ Sango thought. ‘We will find a way I promise you that.’

“Listen, all of you. I have taken Kagome’s place here whether you like it or not. You do, however, have the choice to stay here or not. Keep this in mind, if you stay and disrespect me, threaten me, or just piss me off in general I will kill you. If you leave and I see your faces again, I will kill you. Make your decision.” Kikyo glared at them while they thought. Sango and Miroku looked at each other and nodded. There was no way they were leaving Inuyasha here to deal with her and suffer by himself.

“We will stay.” they said in unison.

“So be it. We leave for the village now. You will leave Kagome’s body in the well Inuyasha. If any of you ever come back to this place you will regret it.”

“We can’t even give her a proper burial?” Sango said. Kikyo just looked at her. Sango knew better than to push it right now.

Inuyasha just looked at Kikyo. He couldn’t believe it either. He had to obey though, he had no choice. He picked Kagome up off the ground and walked over to the well. The tears rolling down his face became visible for all to see and he did not try to hide them. Inuyasha jumped into the well hoping against hope that the well would take them to her time but as he landed on the hard ground he knew it wasn’t going to happen. The well must have sealed when she died. He gently laid her body on the ground and kissed her forehead. “I’m sorry Kagome.” was all he could say. He hoped she would hear him wherever she was.

“Inuyasha lets go!” Kikyo yelled at him. He gave one last look at Kagome, he knew this would be the last time he would see her, and jumped out of the well. She had already passed by the others who were standing there waiting for him. They knew nothing they said or did would help him or comfort him, but they would always be there for him. As they walked back to the village there was silence all around, only a slight breeze blew through the trees.

He saw them walk away. He had seen the whole thing, and he was scared. When he knew they were gone he went over to the well where his mothers’ body laid. He jumped in and just stared at her face. She was still so beautiful, and even though she had died in a horrible way, she looked like she was sleeping. Shippo kissed her cheek and began to cry. He lay down next to her and wrapped her arm around him. He was exhausted. He couldn’t take this again, loosing another mother. He chose to stay by her side until he died as well; either from a broken heart or from the demons he knew would come to devour her body. Shippo just could not let that happen, not without a fight. The scent of blood would bring them out and probably not too long from now. But for now he would sleep by her side, her sweet smell still in the air, and even though it was mixed with blood it was still comforting. He cried himself to sleep, and drifted off into the nightmares only little ones have.
The wind changed then, heading towards a certain demon, almost to draw him back to a woman who had caught his attention long ago.

Author Note: Ok, I have done some tweaking and hopefully I have figured some things out. If not then I tried but let me know if you all get the scene changes and things seem a bit more clearer ok?
