InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Blind Eyes ❯ Not Just Any Demon ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Chapter One:
Kagome sighed as they entered yet another seemingly never-ending forest. She was so tired of seeing trees. Trees and grass. That's pretty much all the feudal era was made of, that and villages. 'Maybe after we destroy this demon Inuyasha will let me go home for a few days,' she thought with a small feeling of hope. It didn't last long though, for she knew what his reaction would be. She sighed, deciding it would be better for her not to even mention it.
"Hey wench, you take any longer and by the time we get there, the demon will be in another country!" Inuyasha growled down at her from the treetops.
She narrowed her eyes and quickened her pace, pushing away the urge to "sit" him. 'If I do that, it won't get us anywhere' she reasoned wisely. Maybe if he had waited a few moments before taking off, she would have been able to climb onto his back. At least that would be faster than having her walk. 'Stupid jerk! Never has enough time for anything.' she thought and as if he was reading her mind, Inuyasha leaped down from the trees onto the ground and stoopded in front of her.
"C'mon, we don't have all day," he muttered and she obediently climbed onto his back, gripping the fire rat robe tightly as he set off again, this time at a much faster pace than his previous one.
Kagome shut her eyes, trying to avoid looking at the ground from so far up in the air. It always made her nauseas when he went this fast. Though she knew he would never drop her, there was always a slight fear of him falling, or her hands losing their hold on him. She pushed her worries aside and rested her head against his back, tightening her grip on his waist with her legs.
"Are we getting closer?" he asked, sniffing the air for a demon.
"We're almost there," Kagome said, feeling the tingling sensation she often felt when sensing a jewel shard. "It should be just up ahead," she said.
Sure enough, a demon could be seen a short distance ahead of them. Inuyasha chuckled.
"Looks pretty puny," he said baring his fangs.
"Always quick to judge," Kagome muttered under her breath.
Inuyasha ignored her comment and landed swiftly in the soft grass of forest floor. Kagome slid from his back and let her backpack fall from her shoulders as she took in the actual size of the demon before them. It had to be at least ten times the tallest tree! Fortunately for them, it's back was to them at the moment.
"Um...I wouldn't exactly call it puny..." she said, her voice shaking a bit.
"Don't tell me you're gonna back out now," he said, removing Tetsusaiga from it's sheath.
"I'm not scared, Ok!" she yelled clenching her fists at her sides as the sword transformed.
"Good," he said running at the demon, a smirk on his face.
The demon turned around slowly, as if he had been waiting for Inuyasha to make his move. Kagome looked at the thing, disgusted. It was hideous! A large ogre of a demon whose structure somewhat resembled that of an ape's, long arms, short legs, and burly build. It had fists so massive, Kagome was sure it could make a crater in a mountain without flinching in the least. It's skin was a mess of dirty, brown scales and even had sections of long, bristly hair protruding from random spots. A single eye and mouth was all that rest on it's gruesome face. Kagome covered her nose suddenly as she caught wind of the horrible stench emanating.
from it's body.
"Inuyasha, hurry and kill it, already! It smells terrible!"
"Well, if you'd tell me where the shard is, I'd be done already!" he threw over his shoulder, swinging Tetsusaiga at the beast.
"It's...in it's eye!" Kagome told him, cautiously taking a few steps backward.
The demon dodged Inuyasha's attack, surprisingly very quickly, and swung a long arm at him.
Inuyasha was quick to evade this attack and grinned, as he charged at the beast, making a swing for it's leg. 'If I cut off his limbs, he won't be able to stand. Then I can take his eye out.' he thought.
Meanwhile, Kagome stood at her backpack, pulling out her bow and arrows. She didn't know why Inuyasha was wasting his time with an up-close attack when she could merely shoot it from afar. Sure she'd probably miss a couple of shots, but at least this method was more effective than his. She readied her bow, bracing her arrow against the frame between her thumb and index finger and was just about to let it fly, when a red blur flew through her line of sight.
"Inuyasha, get out of the way!" she ordered at the hanyou, who was currently dodging the demon's excessively long arms.
"Feh. Wench, there's no point in you even bothering to try to shoot that thing! You're just gonna miss-"
His statement was cut short as one of demon's arms knocked him roughly to the ground.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome yelled, running over to his form.
"Don't have a heart attack," he spat, jumping up from the grass.
"Thanks for the gratitude."
"Spare me."
He ran at the demon once again, this time going straight for it's leg. He didn't care how many times he had to try. He would hack it off! Inuyasha failed to notice, however, that the demon had picked itself a new target: Kagome.
Wow...I was actually inspired to write something. Well, this idea has been tugging at me for a while lately, I just haven't been able to write it. I'm sorry this chapter was so short and I know this first one was pretty boring and "cheesy" but bear with me people. And believe me, it gets better. I can definitely tell you there won't be much more action in this story. Mainly because I CAN'T write action scenes. Well, I hope if you did read it, you enjoyed it, but if you didn't...oh well. Well anyway, tell me what you think whether it's a flame or a compliment. Just review! Lol ^_^
