Kikyo lay asleep in Naraku's castle. Her plan was working perfectly. Soon She would have everything she wanted. The sound of her door sliding open roused her from her sleep. She sat up to see Kagura enter her room.
“What do you want,” Kikyo asked sarcastically. Kagura scoffed at the dead priestess.
“Naraku has sent for you. He does not like to be kept waiting.” Kikyo got out of bed and followed Kagura.
“What does Naraku want,” Kikyo asked.
“I don't know, and I really don't care.” Kagura and Kikyo reached the main chamber of the castle. Kagura slid the door open and motioned for Kikyo to enter.
“Dear Kikyo, come to me,” Naraku said. Kikyo saw Naraku sitting in the middle of the chamber. He wore and elegant gray silk kimono, and his hair was in disarray around his shoulders. Kikyo walked up to Naraku.
“You summoned for me?” Naraku stood and took Kikyo into his arms.
“Yes my dear. You know I very much enjoy the idea of destroying Inuyasha,” Naraku pulled Kikyo's haori down around her arms, exposing the swell of her breasts, “and of course you being alive,” he moved her hair over her shoulder, “and you by my side,” he bent down and kissed her shoulder, “forever.”
It took everything inside her not to cringe at the feel of his lips on her shoulder and his hands caressing her bare back.
“Yes, Naraku, soon we will have everything,” Kikyo mumbled into his hair.
“However,” Naraku started, “something has recently come to my mind.” He raised his head and looked into Kikyo's eyes.
“What has co--” Kikyo's breath caught short as a sharp pain penetrated her back. She looked down and saw that Naraku's arms had changed into his tentacles, and they were pulsating. Kikyo looked up at Naraku.
“You tricked me,” Kikyo whispered in a deadly tone. She gasped with pain and collapsed against Naraku.
“Don't worry my dear. I am merely giving you what you desire, and a little more.” Kikyo's eyes widened as she watched her souls seeping out of her body.
“NO! I-I ne-need those s-souls,” Kikyo gasped.
“You will keep you original soul that still resides in your body, and my essence will sustain the other half, and instead of clay, dirt, and grave soil, my power will give you muscle, skin, and bone. But…I will have your heart…in more than one way.”
Kikyo screamed and collapsed on the floor as Naraku pulled his tentacles from her body. She looked up and watched his tentacles mold back into hands. Naraku chuckled and opened his hand to reveal a small red pulsating orb in his palm…Kikyo's new heart.
Kikyo slammed her fist on the floor, and looked at Naraku with a hateful glare.
“Why,” she asked, on the verge of tears.
“Now you shall be apart of me, and I shall be apart of you. You will be a loyal and dutiful mate…forever.” Naraku walked over to a small shelf and placed the orb next to two others. Kagura and Kanna's hearts.
“So I'm nothing but another slave to you? Just like Kagura and Kanna?” Naraku turned to Kikyo.
“No. You see, Kagura and Kanna are somewhat my children. They were born of me. You on the other hand, were somewhat already alive, and I gave you a piece of me. Besides, you are in possession of one of my hearts, they do not.” Naraku walked over to Kikyo and helped her up.
“Now return to your room and get some rest. You'll need it for my mating ritual.” Kikyo wanted to argue, but something inside her made her adjust her haori, turn and leave.
Kagura had been standing just outside the door the whole time. As Kikyo walked out, Kagura spoke to her.
“I feel sorry for you.” Kikyo turned to Kagura.
“I don't understand.”
“Kanna and I are still somewhat free. You see, where we can feel what we REALLY feel, you'll have no choice but to obey and feel what he wants you to feel, no matter what you truly feel. Eventually, after he mates with you, you'll love him and forget everything you ever knew.”
A sense of dread came over Kikyo. Everything she had planned had blown up in her face, and soon she would be mated to a demon.
“Good evening, Kagura,” Kikyo mumbled, and headed for her room.
When she got to her room, the first thing she did was run over to the looking glass. Her jaw dropped. She was indeed alive again, just not the way she wanted to be.
Her skin was pink and warm with life. Her eyes sparkled, and were no longer lifeless. But they were no longer the deep brown they had been. They were instead deep red, like Naraku's. Her hair was also more lustrous, and had red highlights. She touched her cheek in amazement.
`This is me…but it's not,' Kikyo thought. Something itched and burned her back. She pulled her hair up and tied it with a ribbon. She turned her back to the mirror and removed her haori. She looked into the looking glass and gasped.
“Oh God, no…” she whispered. On her back was Naraku's notorious mark; the burned spider.
