Chapter 5

News has just come in. There has just been an attempted murder on Ms Kagome Higurashi. Fortunately, only 2 out of the 600 guests were killed. There are many injured, with one in a critical state.

The pretty female news reporter now turned to a man standing behind her. I now have here, one of the witnesses from the incident. Kagome scowled in disgust when Hiten's face came into view. What is your name, sir? Hiten smirked. "My name is Naraku."

Kagome rolled her eyes. Trust someone like Hiten to come up with a name like that. Can you tell us sir, who those people were that were killed?

"Why certainly." Hiten's eyes seemed to suddenly darken. "Kanna Sajira, and Kobaku Taeika. Both very close friends of mine." Kagome shuddered. Hiten's eyes were mocking her. Taunting her. As if he knew she was watching him. It was like some kind of warning.

"Turn it off."

Miroku and Kagome glanced at Sango. She hadn't said anything since they had arrived at the hospital. Her brother's body had been taken away to be searched for any clues to the killer.

"They didn't even get his name right." Sango's face was pale and strained. She seemed to be a different person. It was as if a cold iron hand had clasped around her heart. Her soul was grieving, yet no sign, nor emotion, flickered across her face.

Kagome opened her mouth, about to speak, when Sesshoumaru swept in. His emotionless face, softened slightly at the edges by Rin, seemed to have sharpened again. His golden depths were swirling with emotion.

"She's going to die." Sesshoumaru's voice seemed hoarse and strained.

Kagome's breath caught.

"She's in a coma."

Under all that pain, Kagome saw a spark of hope. A little glimmer of hope seemed to light up in the darkness. "She still has a chance."

Sesshoumaru looked up with haunted eyes. Eyes that had seemed too much pain and suffering in the world. Eyes that just wanted someone to love. "Does she?"

Kagome watched as the life slowly leave Sesshoumaru. "You can't give up hope! She still has a chance!" Kagome glared at him.

Sesshoumaru was angry. Furious. "Have you seen her?!" Sesshoumaru's eyes blazed, as he jumped up. "She's pale, like death. Pipes running in and out of her. EVERYWHERE! She's going to die!" His mind just seemed to register what he just said. Suddenly, Sesshoumaru's whole majestic body slumped. The arrogant air surrounding him, diminished. "I just can't bear to see her like this."

"She's strong. And with you by her side, she will live."

Sesshoumaru just shook his head in defeat. He didn't listen. Kagome grew angry. This was the man who had taught her to never give up. To keep fighting, never stopping until the goal was reached.

She went up and slapped him. Hard. Soon, a big red mark was shining brilliantly on Sesshoumaru's face. Kagome glared at him. Whispering fiercely, she made him listen. "You give up hope, then Rin doesn't have a chance! Do you understand?! You live, she lives. You die, she dies."

A/N: I SORRY! I know it's really short, but I couldn't write anymore. Oh, just to clarify things, Rin was shot with the first bullet. U know, when Inuyasha pushed Kagome to the ground, and the bullet hit someone and she screamed? That was Rin. Just in case u couldn't remember.
