More thunder roared, and Kagome ducked her head back under the covers.
'And that's how this whole mess started...'
A hand stroking her hair stilled her shaking, only to bring on a new onslaught of whimpers.
It had been almost four weeks since Sesshoumaru had taken up his position at her bedside. At first she'd been inconsolable, crying and fighting whenever they held her down to force her to sleep. Eventually they didnt need the sleep inducing poisons, and she stopped fighting the hand that soothed her. But sadly, the tears did not. They continued to roll down her cheeks in waves, leaving one to wonder just how much water could possibly be stored in one's body to produce so much....
She was dreading for the time when she and him would have to join once more for the sake of the pups. She closed herself off from everyone when they told her they would have to join again, but began to listen when they told her the life of the pups depnded on it. Though she had not yet had them, she felt an unbreakable bond between the four pups in her womb. And she would do whatever it took to keep them alive.
She felt him shifting beside her, and knew he was becoming impatient. She needed her sleep, but it would not come to her. As she predicted, she felt the tips of his claws prick her skin, and felt the strangely comforting sensation of having him flow through her skin. Already she was becoming drowsy, and it would not be long until she fell into another dreamless sleep.
Even when she fell into the land of nothingness, he did not stop petting her. Guilt was eating at his heart. He could feel it, slowly sinking its' claws in and twisting...slowly...torturing him...giving him the memories of that night, feeding them in random order, relentlessly, stopping only to give him a brief glance at peace before starting again.
His eyes trailed to her soft rose petal lips, allowing his thumb to trail over their softness. He bent his head to take a whiff, and, as if he couldnt help himself, gave the skin on her shoulder a soft, long taste. Her power sizzled on his tounge, and he couldnt help but shudder in desire at the thought of taking her again. He quickly sobered up. He would ensure that she recieved pleasure. She would drown in it, and begin to look forward to their next joining almost as anxiously as he did. Those nights would be for solely her pleasure. He would give, and only take if she offered.
Her time was almost upon them, and he needed to get prepared. Prepared to leash the beast that would undoubtedly rise. Prepared to resist the call of temptation as he set about worshipping her abused flesh. Prepared to take on the duty of being a loving father and an honorable mate. He would be prepared. He would not fail
The next day Rin and Kagome were enjoying a game of tag with a young kit named Shippou. He was the son of another lord, who was visiting InuTaishou on political matters. He was only a year older than Rin, smaller, but very fast.
It wasn't long when the trio got tired, and chose to simply relax on the fresh grass, the sun hidden behind the clouds.
"Kagome-chan?" Kagome looked over at Shippou, who kept glancing in the distance.
"Hai Shippou-kun? What is it?"
He looked towards the castle wall, and pointed.
"Who is that youkai that keeps watching us?"
Kagome sighed, and looked back to where she knew Sesshoumaru was. How was she to explain this to him?...
"That's Sesshoumaru-sama! He's here to watch over Ane-chan! They're mated now, and she's gonna have a baby, so he needs to be near him!" Well, appearently Rin found a way to tell him.
"Ooh.." He fell silent, laying back down on the dewy grass.
"Pups! Come back in and wash up! It's lunch time!" Shinya called out to the three youngsters and , grudgingly, they went in. Sesshoumaru followed right after Kagome, staying three feet behind her.
"Ane-chan, what are you going to name your baby?" Rin glanced over at her sister, who had finished with her studies a small time before her.
"Pups, Rin. Kagome is going to have pups." InuTaishou smiled softly at the child, who was glowing warmly with a gap toothed smile on her face.
"I don't know yet Rin-chan. I guess we'll have to wait and see." She patted her younger siblings head lovingly, laughing as she did. When Rin announced her intentions to go find lunch, Kagome assured her that she would be down with her soon.
"She's becoming more and more rambuncious(sp?) every day. Perhaps we should see about getting her a new friend to play with. As entertaining as it is watching Jaken run around screaming, he is far from young and tires too easily for that girl." Kagome smiled. InuTaishou was always doing something for the girls. From new clothes to new food, to a shelter and family. To the medicines that took the pain away from her stomach, to the vitamins that would ensure a healthy growth for all of the pups. Yes, he did much for them. He took them in and loved them. And for that, she would always be grateful.
