Chapter 10

Kagome was still half asleep, enjoying the feeling of being wrapped up in a warm embrace. The scent of forest and fresh rain engulfing her like the comfortable cloud she is snuggled up against.

She can feel the relaxing vibrations against her body, lulling her back towards slumber. This feeling of contentment, she doesn't ever want to end. Her mind is fighting to stay in between sleep and wakefulness but sadly, reality is beginning to sink in.

Her eyes open slowly, immediately clashing with the golden ones of her hanyou mate. He smiles down at her and strokes her cheek lovingly. She cuddled her face into his clawed hand and closed her eyes, sighing in bliss.

Why did this feeling have to end? Why can't she just run away from the hurt and sadness that has become her life and live happily with the man she loves? She sighed once again as she lifted her hands to lightly grasp the front of his Suikan.

Naraku.

That is why she must endure this pain and suffering for just a while longer. As long as that insufferable man is still breathing, then no one is safe.

Inuyasha noticed the different emotions battling themselves within her mind. They started good, content, happy, comfortable... Then they had begun to change, the scent of them burning his nose. Sad, angry, ashamed...

So he decided to distract her, if only for a moment.

Kagome felt the soft warm lips of her hanyou press lightly against hers. Her body immediately relaxed against his as she sighed and hummed happily against his mouth. She raised her right hand to around his neck, lightly grasping his nape and holding him just a little closer.

The kiss began slow and sensual, one to distract and show his mate and fiancé just how much he loves her and is not upset with her. But then his sneaky little Miko moaned and he felt her amazing tongue press against his lips. He growled quietly as he grabbed her behind the head and pulled her even closer to him.

Kagome opened her mouth when she felt Inuyasha's tongue return the favor, allowing him full entry. She raised her right hand to his furry ear and rubbed it softly, enjoying the contented growl rumbling from his chest.

She swirled her tongue around his, moaning faintly as she tasted him, felt him, making her want even more of him. This feeling of being wanted and needed by the only man in the world she had ever wanted to feel this way with... she just needs this. She needs Inuyasha like the air she breathes and like the ground she walks on.

She began to get more insistent. Needing something stronger, something that will stoke the flames of desire that has begun to burn within her. Her mind is completely overtaken now by everything that is just, Inuyasha.

His lips against hers. His tongue within her mouth. His fangs grazing her lips, and her tongue swiping against them just to feel how sharp they are. His hands tangled in her hair. His soft ears beneath the touch of her fingertips. The taste and scent of him. Even the hardness she can begin to feel poking into the crease of her ass. The only thing that she can fully comprehend right now is him.

'Inuyasha...'

Kagome shoved her tongue into his mouth forcefully, surprising him at her boldness. She held on to the back of his neck with both hands and slowly moved her body up to straddle his lap fully.

Inuyasha placed his hands on her hips as Kagome maneuvered herself on top of him. He could smell her arousal, her unadultered need. No scent of fear or trepidation like there has been before. It's like her complete confession and him staying by her side no matter what, flipped a switch within her mind. Like she feels like she can allow herself some of this pleasure, because she is no longer burdened with what she had felt was a betrayal against him.

Kagome moved both of her hands to the top of his head once again, loving the feel of the soft fur between her fingers. The way it makes Inuyasha groan and harden even further beneath her.

Their tongues battling for dominance, Kagome begins to just barely rock her hips against his groin. She moaned as she could feel liquid heat soak her panties and coat her thighs. The fire that had begun as small embers had now grown to heights unimaginable. A raging inferno that she wishes he would quench, causing her to see stars behind her eyelids.

She feels his fangs once again with the tip of her tongue as she scratches the base of one of his ears. She moaned as the hanyou beaneath her involuntarily bucked his hips upwards.

She could feel his hardened erection completely against her sensitive bundle of nerves. Being separated by her sweat pants and his Hakama is doing nothing to prevent their bodies from colliding pleasantly together.

Inuyasha can feel the wetness between Kagome's legs begin to seep through her clothes and leave their mark on his Hakama. His demon purred at the thought of being marked in such a manor. She pulled her mouth away from his and cupped his cheeks, staring into his smoldering golden eyes, her own half lidded brown ones begging him for something. She doesn't even know what that something is yet. Just more... She rocked even harder against him, eyes widening and mouth slightly agape in a silent moan.

"Inu..." She spoke just barely above a whisper. "I... I can't stop..." Her eyes closed as her body acted as if it had a mind of its own. It just felt way too good. She couldn't get her body to stop its movements even if she had wanted to.

Which she definitely did not want to stop this amazing feeling building higher and higher within her.

Inuyasha held onto her hips harder, helping her rock more insistently against his throbbing erection. Helping her feel the bliss she is working her way up to. He rests his forehead against hers, both of them breathing frantically. Their breath mingling with the other. Their hearts sporadically beating out of their chests.

Kagome's eyes reopened, locking with his and she couldn't hold back the whine that escaped. She could feel the coil deep inside get tighter and tighter, ready to snap at any given moment. She can't look away from his smoldering gaze as she gets faster and faster, loving the feel of his twitching cock beneath her.

"Inu..." She let out a small whimper, her lips barely brushing his.

Inuyasha growled as he rocked her faster and harder against his erection. He knows he won't cum at the moment, but he doesn't care. After Kagome's body stopped convulsing against his, she collapsed into his embrace. She began to take long deep breaths in and out to regain her composure. After a couple of minutes just being held by her hanyou lover, she fully came back to herself with a huge blush staining her cheeks. She pulled her face away from his chest to look into his eyes, her own eyes wideneding slightly. The cocky hanyou was smirking at her! Her blush intesified as her mouth opened and closed a few times, unsure of exactly what to say.

Inuyasha lifted his right hand to move a strand of her raven hair from her face to behind her ear. "Enjoy yourself, my mate?"

Kagome is pretty sure that she will now have a permanent blush that she will have to pass off as some sort of sunburn. "I... uh..."

Inuyasha's smirk turned down slightly as he cupped her cheeks. "Kagome... do you regret it?"

Kagome immediately shook her head and looked down between them, feeling embarrassed and unsure how to not feel that way.

Inuyasha lifted her head by the chin and kissed her lightly, loving the way she sighed quietly against his lips. He pulled back and cupped her cheeks once again.

"Why are ya embarrassed?"

Kagome glanced down at the camp below them and let out a relieved breath, everyone had left to do Kami knows what. She looked back into her hanyous eyes and shrugged her shoulders.

"I... I did exactly what I said I wasn't ready for..." She then spoke quickly to reassure her mate that nothing was his fault. "You didn't push me into anything, I... I'm the one that instigated it... I..." She glanced away. "I feel like I'm just proving the fact that I'm..." She sighed and closed her eyes tight. "I'm just an impure whore..."

Inuyasha's eyes widened as he let out an infuriating growl. He forced Kagome to look back into his angry eyes by cupping both of her cheeks.

"Never say that bitch." Kagome's eyes widened slightly. "You ain't a whore! Naraku fucking tricked you! Forget about him. He is as good as dead. Ya said it yourself, you have wanted me for a long time! So, how does what we did as mates who love each other, mean you're a whore!? Baka woman!"

Kagome had a single tear escape her eye as she nodded her head and hugged him around his neck. "I'm sorry, Inuyasha... I... I want you so much it hurts. I want to marry you and to mate you and to have children with you. I want to live a normal life with my husband, my mate and my children. I just want that bastard to die so we can move on with our life." She pulled her face back to look into his eyes and gave him a small smile. "I want you so much it physically hurts."

Inuyasha stroked her raven locks as he stared deep into her eyes. "But you ain't ready yet, right? I ain't gonna make ya do anything ya ain't ready for. What we just did... If ya don't wanna do it again until you're ready, that's okay." He gave her a small smirk. "But if ya want to, I'll please you over and over without going over what you're okay with."

Kagome blushed but smiled anyway. She sunk her hands into his silver hair and leaned in close to his lips. "I think... as long as we defeat him before I turn sixteen... I wanna get married on my birthday. Is that okay?"

Inuyasha wrapped his hands around her waist and growled against her lips. "Fuck... ya know I'd marry you right this second if ya told me to, Kagome..."

Kagome giggled against his mouth and fuck that sent vibrations straight to his dick. Her laugh is not only extremely adorable but sexy as hell too. He groaned as he smashed his lips to hers once again.

Kagome moaned against his mouth as she reached back up to rub his ears. Inuyasha growled and reluctantly pulled away. He grabbed her hands from his ears and held them between their chests.

"What the hell is your obsession with my ears, woman?"

Kagome smiled warmly at him as she nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders. "They are adorable and soft. Plus, when I rub them it seems to make you really crazy for me." She blushed as she said it, but her coy smile didn't waver.

Inuyasha growled. "Just bein' near you, makes me crazy woman." He gave her a chaste kiss, cutting off her laughter and then showed off a fang with his smug grin. "So, how long until your birthday? That was the day we met, right?"

Kagome smiled widely and nodded. "Mhm! I've been here for about five and a half months, so if all goes to plan than we can get married in six and a half months. My birthday is April thirtieth according to my future calenders."

Inuyasha nodded, his grin getting wider and wider. They are actually talking about when they are getting married! All he needs to do is kill the bastard and help Kagome heal and then they will be free to be fully together.

"Where do ya wanna get married first? We talked about one in both eras."

Kagome thought for a moment. "Hmm. If we can pull it off, then we can get married early in the morning at my family's shrine. It would be small, with just a few friends and family members. I would want a more western style wedding there. Then we could have just a small after-party before coming back here and having a ceremony here with our friends in this era." She blushed as she continued to the next subject. "Then... we could complete the mating that night..."

Inuyasha wrapped his arms tightly around her before nuzzling his face into her neck. "I promise koibito, I will make sure ya have everything ya ever wanted. I love you, Kagome."

Kagome hummed happily, holding her hanyou in her arms and closing her eyes. "I love you too, Inuyasha." Just another thing for her to really look forward to. Her wedding, her mating, her future with the man of her dreams.

A few minutes later, they heard shuffling below them, then the monk's voice.

"Are you two love birds finally ready to eat so we can go get that jewel shard?"

Inuyasha growled and Kagome hid her face against his chest. When she finally looked down at the blushing taijiya, confused Shippo and grinning monk, her blush intensified.

"Wh-Where were you guys?"

Shippo popped into his balloon form and flew up to the couple. He popped out of it and landed on the hanyous head, making said hanyous eyes cross as he looked up in irritation.

"I went down to eat some Pocky this morning and when I went to come back up here, Miroku grabbed me by the tail and took me away! He said that you were doing grown up stuff, but he wouldn't tell me what! Then Sango hit him with her Hirakotsu and we left to go find some fish in the stream." He finished completely out of breath as he said everything as fast as a kid hopped up on sugery Pocky would.

Kagome's blush had come back with a vengeance as Shippo explained that their friends knew full well what they were up to. In a tree no less! Kagome groaned as she rested her face back into Inuyasha's chest.

Inuyasha rolled his eyes, a small blush on his cheeks as well. He held onto her before jumping all three of them down to the ground. Shippo yelped as he held on to prevent from falling off, and then jumped from the hanyous head to the ground beside them.

Kagome sat down in front of the fire, unable to make eye contact with the other members of the Inutachi as Inuyasha grabbed one of the cooked fish and handed it to her.

After they were all seated and eating their fish comfortably, including the small Kirara, Miroku spoke up once again.

"So, I seemed to have over heard the end of your conversation. You have a time set for when you are getting married?"

Kagome looked up and gave him a small smile, happy that he isn't going to tease them about their mornings... activities.

"Hai. As long as we can get rid of our problem before I turn sixteen, it will be on my birthday. The anniversary of the day Inuyasha and I first met."

Sango smiled warmly at her friend. "That is wonderful, Kagome. I'm really happy for you."

Miroku nodded. "I as well, Kagome-sama. We must also get a hut built before the ceremony so you can... celebrate your evening fondly."

Kagome let out a little 'eep'! and looked down at her fish. Shippo muttered out a small 'idiot.' Inuyasha growled and Sango slapped the monk for his crude comment.

Miroku rubbed the red hand print on his cheek and chuckled to himself. "As I was saying... when do you want to start building the hut, Inuyasha?"

Inuyasha swallowed his bite of fish and shrugged his shoulders. "I guess we can work on it whenever Kagome has to go back for her 'tests' and healers."

Kagome smiled widley and nodded her head. "Hai. I am doing all my school work on the computer at home now, so you can keep yourself busy either with my brother or working on that if you want."

Inuyasha nodded his head as he continued to devour his fish.

Shippo swallowed another bite and looked between all the grown ups. "If... If you are gonna be living together... where will I go?"

Kagome was about to reassure her kit that he will always be with them, but surprisingly the hanyou beat her to it.

"Keh, you'll be stayin' with us."

Shippo looked up at him with tears in his bright emerald green eyes. "Really? You'll still want me?"

Kagome gasped as she looked to the little kitsune. "Of course! Why wouldn't we want you?"

He shrugged his shoulders as he took another small bite. "I don't know..."

Kagome leaned down to kiss the little kit on the head and smiled at him warmly. "No matter what, you'll always be with us, okay? I love you like a son, Shippo. That will never change."

Shippo smiled happily and nodded his head as he went back to eagerly finishing his meal.

A few more minutes pass by and Inuyasha swallowed the last bite of his fish. He went to reach for another at the same time Shippo was reaching for the last piece also. They both narrowed their eyes and growled at each other.

Miroku and Sango held back their laughter, having not seen this in quite a while. Kagome rolled her eyes and grabbed an ear from both of them.

"Inuyasha, Shippo. Be nice and share."

Inuyasha's ears flattened to his head, flicking out of her hold as he stared hungrily at the food. Shippo gave Kagome the cutest little face he could conjure up, trying to convince her it belongs to him.

"But I'm a growing boy!"

"Keh! I'm bigger, I need to eat more!"

"Kagomeee!"

"Mate!"

Kagome sighed as she picked up the fish and threw it to the nekomata. "There you go Kirara." Kirara happily 'mewed' in response as she dug in with a contented purr.

Sango and Miroku immediately burst out in laughter as Shippo and Inuyasha stared on in disbelief. Kagome looked at them both incredulously.

"If you two would have just split it instead of acting so immature, then you would not have to watch Kirara eat it happily."

What happened next had Kagome joining in her friend's laughter.

Shippo on her left and Inuyasha on her right, both stuffed their hands inside of their sleeves and pouted pitifully with a "Keh!"

Kagome lifted the tiny fox into her lap and she kissed Inuyasha on the cheek. 'They are stubborn... but I love them.'

After they all finished eating and packing their belongings back up, Sango spoke up tentatively. "Kagome..."

Kagome turned from grabbing Shippo's stuffed Fox and handing it to him. He had insisted on holding him while they walk. "Hai?"

"Do... Do you still want to go to the... h-hot spring with me?"

Kagome's breath caught in her throat as she looked around and saw everyone waiting for her to reply. She subconsciously reached to her right and grabbed Inuyasha's hand in hers before taking a steadying breath in and out.

She knows she is being ridiculous. This isn't even the same hot spring as before, and Naraku could show up at literally any time and place. She turned to Inuyasha as she squeezed his hand.

"I..." She looked back at her friend and sighed. "I feel safest when I'm near Inuyasha... If... if he's nearby but can't see us... could he be there?"

Everyone looked at her shocked. She has always made it a point not to have either of the guys near the hot springs while she was bathing. But it also makes sense. Inuyasha is her safe space, her fiancé in the human fashion and her true mate in the demon one. The man who has sworn to protect her with his life and the one she loves with all of her heart.

Sango smiled warmly at her and nodded her head. "I trust Inuyasha not to look." She narrowed her eyes at the monk. "It's someone else that I do not trust."

Miroku rubbed the back of his neck and chuckled. "My dear Sango, I am wounded that you would think I could be so disrespectful!" He put a hand to his chest and shook his head side to side. "I am so misunderstood."

They all just rolled their eyes as Inuyasha spoke up. "Shippo, you watch the pervert to make sure he ain't gonna spy on the girls. If he tries to do anythin' at all, burn him to a crisp." Miroku's face blanched as the girls chuckled lightly. "Kirara, keep watch over 'em, alright?"

"Mew!"

After that plan was formulated, Inuyasha walked with the girls to the spring he had sniffed out the night before, and Shippo stayed behind to guard the lecherous monk.

Kagome was clinging to Inuyasha's arm the entire way to the spring, her mind racing with different things that could possibly go wrong. She kept reminding herself she won't be alone. Sango is a taijiya with a gas mask in case there are any underhanded tricks like before. Inuyasha is a hanyou with heightened senses so he can listen out and scent when anything is near. She took a deep breath in, the way Miroku had taught her and then let it out slowly.

When they made it to the spring, she turned to look at Inuyasha and gave him a small smile. "Thanks..."

He nodded his head before giving her a chaste kiss and backing up. "I ain't gonna look, I'll just be close enough to hear if ya need anythin'." At her encouraging nod, he turned and jumped into the trees, going far enough away to give them privacy, but close enough to be able to be there in an instant if he is needed.

Kagome turned back to the worried looking taijiya and smiled reassuringly at her as she set her bag on a rock near the spring. "I'm fine, really. I just... I've been kinda clingy to him ever since... since he came to my time after I foolishly ran away..." She looked away sadly as she dug her soaps out of her bag.

Sango began to get undressed as she listened to Kagome speak. "It's okay, Kagome. I understand. Inuyasha makes you feel safe and you love him. There isn't an issue with that."

Kagome turned and smiled thankfully at her friend. She set her soaps and hair supplies down at the bank of the spring before putting her hands at the hem of her shirt. She froze as she was about to lift it up, not having gotten fully comfortable with herself since... since she was rescued from Naraku. Then the fact that they all saw her in such a... compromising position, made it even harder.

Sango noticed the hesitation as she finished undressing. "Are you okay, Kagome?"

Kagome shook her head to clear her thoughts as she began to lift the shirt up slowly. "Uh... yeah."

She lifted it off of her head and folded it nicely before setting it on top of her bag. She took another calming breath in as she did the same with her sweat pants. As she was about to remove her bra and panties, her hands started to tremble.

Sango looked away throughtfully, realizing what the problem may be. "I won't look if that will make you feel better?"

Kagome glanced at her friend and saw her averted gaze, calming her nerves instantly. "Th-Thank you..." She murmured it as she was finally able to remove her undergarments and set them aside.

Kagome stepped into the spring across from Sango with her arms wrapped protectively around herself. She is looking down as she tries to think of something to say. For some reason, she doesn't feel like she can just... speak... like she normally would be able to.

"I... I'm sorry, Sango. I never used to be so... weak."

Sango kept her eyes averted, not wanting to upset her friend further as she grabbed the soap and began to clean herself. "You don't need to apologize, Kagome. And you aren't weak. You are the strongest person I know. I don't think any less of you, you know."

Kagome looked at Sango and began to relax her posture further. "I know... Y-You can look at me, you don't have to speak to the tree over there." She giggled awkwardly, trying to lighten the mood.

Sango turned her head with a big smile on her face as she handed Kagome the soap, and then dunked her head to begin washing her hair. When she sat back up and lathered her hair in shampoo, she spoke once again.

"So... I see you and Inuyasha are getting a lot closer. We haven't been able to talk just the two of us in awhile. How does it feel to be getting married?"

Kagome's smile was huge and genuine as the subject of her marriage was brought up. "Sometimes I still can't believe it but... you know, I would go through everything I have over again if it meant meeting Inuyasha and becoming his wife."

Sango's eyes widened slightly but she nodded knowingly. "You really love him." It wasn't a question, but a knowing statement.

Kagome nodded her head as she started to scrub the shampoo into her hair. "More then anything, Sango. Did I ever tell you the first thing I did when I saw him on the Goshinboku?" When Sango shook her head, Kagome chuckled. "I am from the future where demons are legend. I saw this handsome boy with the most adorable doggie ears." She shook her head as if she knows what she did was ridiculous. "I just had to feel them for myself! I literally stood there, rubbing his ears while he was practically unconscious!"

The girls laughed together before continuing with their bath and gossiping about the guys further.

Inuyasha was a good distance way, but he stayed within his hearing range to be able to jump to the rescue if necessary. He could hear Sango speak as if she was worried about Kagome. He wanted to go and reassure her, but knew that wasn't a good idea right now. Not if he wanted to live to see his own wedding.

He relaxed back onto the bough of the tree he is in when he heard Kagome begin to feel less stressed.

A few minutes later, his ear twitched as Kagome began to speak about him. A small smirk came to his face hearing how much his mate loves him. Then his face burned crimson at the story she just relayed to Sango.

'She... what!?'

After a moment of composing himself, he couldn't help but chuckle. He put his hands behind his head and bent his leg at the knee, closing his eyes, but not going to sleep.

'Wench has some kinda weird obsession with my ears.'

A few hours later, the Inutachi were back on their journey to the East. They seemed to be getting closer and closer to the village with the pesky monkey demon.

Inuyasha sniffed the air as his hands tightened around Kagome's thighs. Kagome leaned forward from atop his back and allowed her senses to help her in finding what they are looking for. She gasped as her eyes shot open and pointed.

"The jewel shard!"

Inuyasha immediately ran in the direction his Miko had instructed, Kirara carrying the humans and kitsune while following close behind. Inuyasha growled lightly as he caught the scent they have been after.

"Keh. I hate monkeys."

Kagome sighed. "Get over it, dog boy. So you got tricked one time. Just get the jewel shard with out hurting it."

"Yeah yeah..."

They finally came up to the village with the monkey demon that has the jewel shard. They slowed down to a walk as they entered and looked around. The crops were in ruins and there were crying kids being consoled by their parents. Inuyasha let Kagome slide off of his back while Sango and Miroku got off of Kirara. Kirara transformed into her kitten form and jumped onto Sango's shoulder while Shippo jumped onto Miroku's.

As they walked towards the center of the village, they were approached by what seemed to be the headman.

"Houshi-sama!" The man stopped in front of the odd group and bowed low. "Have you come to slay the demon?"

Miroku's staff jingled as he stepped up to the man and gave his own short bow. "Hai. We have come to help with the problem you have. We hear there is a monkey demon destroying crops and playing tricks on the children, is this correct?"

The headman nodded vigorously. "Hai, hai! It is just awful! Ye must slay it at once!"

Inuyasha growled as he grabbed the hilt of his father's fang. "Has it killed anybody?"

"No but -"

His growl cut the man off. "Then I ain't gonna just kill the damn thing! I'll get the shard and it'll go back to wherever the fuck it came from. Feh."

The headman eyed Inuyasha warily. He looked up and saw Inuyasha's ears twitch atop his head. He backed up a step as he gasped. "Y-You're a demon!" He turned to the humans. "Why do ye have a demon amongst you?" Before anyone could respond, he seemed to have an epiphany as he saw what appeared to be a collar, and then he remembered the monk before him. "Ah, houshi-sama. He is yours, I see. Tell me, how do you control such a beast?"

Inuyasha just growled while Miroku and Sango looked at the man in shock. Kagome however, began to sparkle in a pink aura as her anger rose with each word that baka spoke.

"Inuyasha is nobody's pet. He is my mate and future husband."

The man looked at her as if she had just told him the world was ending. He noticed the bow and quiver on her back and the pink aura surrounding her small form, his eyes widening even further. "Y-You... You're a dark Miko!" He took a cautionary step back. "Who else but a dark Miko would lower themselves to becoming a youkai whore!?"

"Whore, defiled, used, impure..."

Kagome shook her head as the aura around her became brighter and more dangerous. Inuyasha instinctually stepped away from the reiki, but his growl turned into a menacing snarl towards the headman.

Miroku stepped forward between Inuyasha and Kagome to try and defuse the situation. He put a reassuring hand on each of their shoulders and plastered his fake monk smile on his face.

"I assure you Mr...?"

The man answered hesitantly. "D-Daisuke..."

Miroku nodded and bowed respectfully. "I assure you Daisuke-san, Kagome-sama is not a dark Miko and Inuyasha is our friend. We are all equals and none of us are in control of the other."

Kagome stiffened as he said that, glancing to the 'collar' around her mates neck. Sure she hasn't actually said the subduing spell since before her attack, but why hasn't she taken it off of him? She made a mental note to speak to Inuyasha about it later. Right now there is the issue of an ignorant man and some sort of monkey demon with a shard of the Shikon no Tama.

Daisuke eyed them all up and down, finally landing on Kagome. "Why would you choose to lower yourself? Surly you know that you would only get weaker the longer you are with him. What about a Miko staying pure?" He gasped and took another step back. "Have ye already lost your purity to this demon!? Has he brainwashed you all to do as he says?"

As Kagome's aura rose with each idiotic word the man speaks, Inuyasha has had enough. He lunged forward and grasped the head man's throat, lifting him into the air.

"Don't you fucking dare speak about her that way anymore! Don't even fucking look at her! One more fucking word and I will kill you." He dropped Daisuke to the ground, watching at he gasped for breath and held his slightly injured throat. "I don't usually lower myself to killing humans, but if you so much as think about my mate in any way at all, you are dead. Got it!?"

The man nodded his head violently as he scooted back away from the hanyou. Kagome's aura began to die down as Inuyasha threatened to kill the man. She stepped forward and grabbed his hand.

"Inuyasha... It... I'm fine..."

Inuyasha's eyes snapped to hers and narrowed at her from the scent of the lie. "You and I need to have a talk about your lyin', wench."

Kagome flinched, fully understanding now that he must have known each time she had lied to him. She had no idea how he seemed to be able to tell in the past, but now she realized that he must be able to smell it, like he can smell other emotions. She nodded her head and looked towards the frightened man.

"We will take care of the demon and leave. There is no need to stay any longer than that..."

The Inutachi didn't wait for a response as they followed the scent of monkey and the direction of the shard.

A couple of minutes later and they found what they were looking for. There was a ten foot tall monkey demon with glowing red eyes stashing the villagers food just outside of the village. Inuyasha unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards the monkey.

"Oi! Give me the shard and I'll let ya live."

The corrupted monkey turned to stare at the group, backing up a step when he could sense how strong they are. Suddenly two small monkeys jumped out of the tree they were standing near.

"Wait! Please, don't kill him!"

Inuyasha rested his sword against his shoulder and narrowed his eyes. "Who is he and how'd this happen?"

The female monkey had tears in her eyes as she held onto the hand of a slightly bigger male monkey. "His name is Chikao." She looked to the other monkey standing next to her. "This is my mate Riku." She looked back at the group. "My name is Emi. Chikao is our son. He really is a harmless boy, he just likes to play tricks. One day about a week ago, he started acting weird and then he grew into this monster! He still would never hurt a soul. Please, can you save him?"

Kagome walked up and bent down in front of the little monkeys. "Hai. We will do our best to get the shard and save your child." Kagome stood up straight and looked at the nervous looking enlarged monkey. "He didn't swallow the shard, so that means we can get it without killing him, but we will still need to cut it out." She turned to the hanyou. "It's in his right hand."

Miroku grabbed a few Ofudas from his robe and stood at the ready. "I can immobilize him."

Sango held onto both Shippo and Kirara and stayed out of the way. This monkey was harmless, not even trying to attack them, so she knew she wasn't needed. Kagome nodded her head as she also backed up. The only thing she is useful for in this situation is locating the shard, since her powers would only purify him. Inuyasha resheathed his Tetsusaiga and waited for when his claws were needed.

Miroku held the Ofuda in front of his face and mumbled a small prayer before tossing it right at the demons chest. The monkey's eyes widened as he began to squeal, not in pain, but in fright. He is now unable to move. Inuyasha saw his chance and jumped forward, slicing into Chikao's hand just enough for the shard to be dislodged and fall to the ground. They all watched as the infant shrunk back down to its normal size and it's eyes changed from red to its normal emerald color, the Ofuda falling carelessly to the ground.

Chikao looked around nervously. "Mama?"

Emi and Riku quickly ran over to their son and wrapped him up in their arms, tears falling freely. Riku looked towards his son's saviors and smiled warmly.

"Thank you for saving my son. How could we ever repay you?"

Inuyasha stuffed his hands into his sleeves and looked away with a small blush coloring his cheeks. "Keh, it ain't no big deal."

Kagome smiled as she bent down in front of the little monkey. "Hi there, I'm Kagome. Is it okay if I help clean the wound on your hand?"

Inuyasha rolled his eyes and shook his head. "He's a demon. He'll heal within the hour. Let's go, Kagome."

Kagome ignored her mate as she looked down at the adorable monkey and held her hand out.

Chikao looked at the human in front of him and nodded his head. He held his little hand forward and watched as Kagome pulled out a small wipe from her weird bag and began to clean the wound. The demons were fascinated at her interesting items, and by the time she was finished, the infant was blushing and smiling at her. Inuyasha growled, he could practically see the hearts in the kids eyes.

"Oi! She's my mate. Get your own!"

Kagome sighed exasperatedly before standing back up and heading towards the fallen shard. "Inuyasha."

The adult monkeys looked at the odd group of humans and demons. "You are the mate of a hanyou?"

Kagome picked up the shard, watching as it didn't fully lose its darkness, but it also brightened up from her touch. She smiled slightly to herself, the shard isn't darkening from her own impurity. She is getting better...

Then the question the female monkey had asked reached her ears. She turned and eyed them speculatively as she put the shard into the jar around her neck. She grabbed Inuyasha's clawed hand in her own and nodded her head.

"Hai. Do you have an issue with who I have fallen in love with?"

The demon's eyes widened and she held her hands in front of her, bowing slightly. "Ah! No, Miko-sama. It is just unheard-of to see a mated hanyou, let alone a mated Miko. But to see them together? I was just surprised, that's all. As long as you are happy, that is what matters, right?"

Kagome smiled as she looked into her fiance's eyes. She nodded her head and looked back at the three monkeys. "You are absolutely correct, Emi-san. Well, we should be going. I am glad we were able to help your son."

The little infant walked over to Kagome's feet and looked up at her with shining green eyes. He held his arms up and spoke in the most adorable voice she could have heard.

"Can I have a hug goodbye, Kagome?"

Kagome's smile brightened as she let go of Inuyasha's hand (causing him to growl and narrow his eyes at his 'competition'), then lifted the kid into her arms. The monkey wrapped his little hands around her neck and cuddled close before looking right at Inuyasha and sticking his tongue out at him.

Miroku, Sango and Shippo were behind them, holding in their amused laughter as Inuyasha's eyes widened, and his hate towards pesky monkeys only grew stronger from this interaction.

Kagome pulled the monkey back to look into his sweet eyes. "You are so adorable!"

He smiled cutely and looked at her innocently. "You're pretty."

Kagome laughed, unaware of the three holding in their laughter behind her and her mate's growing ire.

"Well, thank you. We are going to have to go now, though. So you'll have to go back to your parents okay?" At his nod, she set him back down and grabbed her mate's hand, who happened to hold on a little tighter then usual. "No more playing mean tricks on others, okay Chikao?"

Chikao held onto each of his parent's hands and nodded happily. "I'll do anything for you, Kagome." He responded sweetly, his eye catching the hilarious reactions of the others.

Kagome only laughed as she waved her goodbyes and left with her friends.

As they made it away from the monkeys and the village, Inuyasha growled and looked down at his mate with a stern look. The rest of the Inutachi is waiting for the baka hanyou to put his foot in his mouth. Kagome turned to look at her mate and furrowed her brow in confusion.

"What?"

He growled in response as he definitely began to shove said foot in said mouth. "I hate monkeys!"

Kagome cocked her head to the side. "Why? They were nice and Chikao was really cute."

Inuyasha stopped walking to force his mate to look at him head on. "So why don't you mate him then!?"

Miroku covered his mouth with his hand, snickering quietly. Sango face palmed and Shippo muttered, "baka."

Kagome pulled her hand from his as her temper began to rise. "What!? He. Is. A. Child! Are you really jealous of a literal kid?"

Inuyasha crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes down at her. "He was flirting with you! He stuck his annoying little tongue out at me when he hugged you! Monkeys are nothin' but tricksters and annoying little pests!"

Kagome crossed her own arms, mirroring his posture. "Again, Inuyasha. He was a child. You aren't jealous of Shippo."

"Keh. Shippo doesn't flirt with you like that! He sees you as his mother. That little brat back there complimented you and got a kick outta watchin' me squirm!"

Kagome pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed exasperatedly. "Inuyasha. You are being ridiculous."

"You ain't goin' near no more monkeys." He nodded his head once as if that was the end of the conversation.

"Inuyashaaa."

He snarled as his anger rose. "I'm puttin' my foot down. No. More. Monkeys. You gotta do as your mate says, bitch!"

Kagome's fists clenched at her sides as everyone around her froze wide eyed. The hanyou really doesn't know when to shut up.

"Baka! Sit boy!"

She was so angry that she completely forgot about her mental note to take the kotodama off from around his neck.

The same neck she really wants to strangle at the moment.

Inuyasha slammed into the ground for the first time in well over a month, groaning and cursing under his breath.

Kagome stomped away from her infuriating mate, Sango followed close behind her. Miroku shook his head and sat down next to Inuyasha while the women went to have their 'girl talk.' Shippo jumped onto Inuyasha's head and peered down to look into his eyes.

"Think of it this way, baka. This was the longest you have ever gone without being sat!"

"Feh..."

A/N: How was this? The little monkey trickster with a crush on Kagome literally just happened as I was typing. I thought it would be adorable for him to have a little crush on her and hilarious for Inuyasha to get jealous lol.
