Other character that you may not recognize from the original series are my creation as well. If you wish to sue me, all youll get is $6 and a bunch of worthless original mangas.
Notes: A lot of pondering went into this. The way Yashima looks was first made while working on pictures to be put on murals for my science teachers room.

Oh man! Im late! Kagome looked up from her breakfast as her daughter dashed from her room and skidded into the hall in her soccer uniform. See ya later mom. Yashima said planting a small kiss on her mothers cheek. What about breakfast? Kagome asked, concerned. Forget it! I dont need it! Yashima screamed on her way out the door.
Leaves scattered across the courtyard as Yashima ran past her grandma and Uncle Sota. Bye Grandma! Bye Uncle Sota! Yashima screamed. Sota leaned on the broom and smiled. Hey, Ill pick you up after your soccer game. Okay! Yashima hopped on one foot while putting her cleats on with the other and dashed down the shrine steps. Without a second thought, the fifteen year old bolted down the street in the direction of the soccer field. As she ran, she suddenly remembered the following day at school

Now, Yashima, lets hear your report on yourself. the new teacher prompted. Yashima swallowed, and stood up in front of the class. In her mind, she read off the topics she was talking about. Hmm, age, nationality, hobbies, interests, and family. Yashima cringed at the thought of talking about her family but went ahead and started. Im 15 years old and I was born here in Japan. I like to play sports, draw, writing, and practice the old form of kendo under my Uncle Sota. Im interested in Japanese legends, swimming, and playing guitar. The teacher eyed Yashima suspiciously. What about family? Yashima gritted her teeth nervously and began. I live up at an old shrine with my mother, Uncle Sota, and my grandma. I have no siblingsYashima paused for a little. As for my father, he disappeared when I was very young. Hes never come back so Ive pretty much given up hope.

The brash young girl threw open the gates to the soccer field and ignored her memories of the previous day. When she ran onto the field, the two coaches were talking with the referee. Yashimas coach, Mr. Tokogawa, looked up and grinned. Good Yashima! Youre here! So, now you have enough players. Play on! The ref yelled. We were just about to forfeit because we didnt have enough players. Alright, Yashima, you go in as a forward. Yashima nodded shaking her long, silvery bangs. Alright coach! Yashima took left forward and focused her sights on the black and white ball in the center of the field right at the feet of the opposing teams center forward. Yashima rubbed the sweat off of her tiger stripe shaped scar and smiled revealing a row of glistening teeth and two sharp canines. The ref blew his whistle and Yashimas ankles snapped forward launching her at the forward. The girl shrieked and dodged leaving the ball lying in the middle of the field unguarded. Yashima kicked it as hard as she could to her friend Kiki, who was already up past the other teams defense. After doing so, Yashima sprinted ahead for the pass. Kiki passed the ball to her friend just as another girl laid a slide tackle to her ankle in vain attempts to knock the ball from her. Yashima booted it towards the goal, send it flying only one inch away from the goalies head. The crowd cheered and several girls gave Yashima a high five as the team retreated back to the center line and back into position.
Wow, nice game. Sota exclaimed. Yashima smiled. Hey, when they piss me off, I just tackle them. Sota chuckled. You know, your mother would have a fit if she heard you cuss like that. Yashima nodded and put her silvery hair up in a ponytail. I know, I know. Yashima mockingly scrunched her face up into the scowl her mother was famous for. You shouldnt cuss! You sound like your father! Sota laughed even harder. I guess you get that lecture all the time, huh? Yashima nodded. Mom speaks so harshly of dad that it makes me wonder why she even liked him. Sotas face became very serious. Well, I guess youre old enough to know now. Your fatherSota paused. He and your mother loved each other deeply. The only problem was she was human and well, he wasnt. Yashima looked up a little shocked. What do you mean not human?! Well, youre half demon like he was. By now, Yashimas eyes were bugging out of her head. What?! Then how the hell did they meet?! Sota sighed. Do you remember Shippo, Miroku, and Sango? I know you were little when you last met them. Yashima nodded. Your mom fell into the Bone Eaters Well one day. Apparently, the River of Time runs under there. She was transported to feudal Japan and your father and her were sent on a quest for the shards of this jewel, the Shikon no Tama. The others joined them later. Yashima shook her head, utterly confused. This cant be right! Im not not Yashima let out a sheepish laugh. Youre such a kidder Uncle Sota! Shame on you, trying to scare me like that! Sota frowned and turned his niece to look directly at him. Do I look like Im joking?
Kagome glanced up. It was six at night but there were sounds of someone in the courtyard. It couldnt be customers Oh, that must be Sota and Yashima back from dinner. she said cheerfully. She reached to open the door but the door slid open and a very angry Yashima stormed in. Yashima! Whats the matter, dear? Kagome asked removing her reading glasses. Why?! Why didnt you ever tell me?! Kagome blinked, a little confused. About me being part demon! About dad! Kagome fell silent for a few moments. It was for your own good Yashima. It- It was dangerous for you to know. Yashimas face flushed. I had every right to know! With a frustrated growl, Yashima ran past her mother and down the hall to her room just as Sota tried to sneak in beside her. Kagome caught her little brother by the ear and pulled at him fiercely. You told her didnt you? Kagome growled. Sota gave a sheepish grin and tried to pull away. May I talk to you in private for a moment? Kagome asked in a low tone. Sota had no other choice but to be dragged across the house to the living room.
The orange pick strummed the strings of Yashimas acoustic guitar as she glanced out the window. Her head swam with thoughts, wishes, memories hopes that she had given up long ago of finding her father. Yashima sat her guitar in its cloth case and zipped it up. Now that I know Now that I know where he is, Im going to find him. The 15 year old clenched her fists cracking her knuckles. Her old, blue messenger shoulder bag lay on the floor by her bed, open and empty. Eager to set off, Yashima dug through her dresser yanking out her kimono, an extra pair of sneakers, her five favorite tee shirts, seven pairs of jeans, and her school outfit. After packing her undergarments, Yashima seized her toothbrush, toothpaste, and hair brush from the desk and shoved them in as well. She dug through her bathroom to retrieve shampoo and soap. A set of pencils, three books, four mangas, a history book, a sketch pad, a camera, an extra pick, a fan, some fireworks from her last New Years Eve, a bathing suit, and a family picture from when she was little all landed in the bag along with the clothes. Yashima just barely zipped up the bag and then threw it over her shoulder. She strapped her guitar across her back and opened the window.
The cool night air seemed to beckon her out. Yashima crawled out of the window, her sandals almost catching on the window sill. Yashima tiptoed across the courtyard and stopped upon hearing her mothers angry voice. Sota! You little pig! Cmon sis! She needed to know! Yashima sighed and turned to the mini shrine. The doors opened letting several moths float out past Yashimas head. Satisfied that no one else was there, Yashima whipped out her flashlight and shone a quick beam over the Bone Eaters Well. There it is. The only thing separating me and the past. Yashima said slyly. She removed the paper seals (quite ineffective ones) from the well and pried off the cover with her hands.
Silence just the never ending darkness in the well. Yashima swallowed hard, the unknown darkness making her nervous. I cant I cant back out. Yashima stammered, the cold turning her breath into smoke. Bravely, the girl straddled the side of the well. Feudal Japan! Here I come! she cried as she tumbled into the well. Then everything went silent again
