Recovery & Aftermath

Kagome opened the door for Inuyasha. He was limping slightly and trying his hardest to cover it. "I thought you said your wrist was the only thing that was hurt." Kagome said as she shut the door behind her.

"I said it was the worst injury, not the only one." Inuyasha said. "Besides, it doesn't hurt."

"Liar." Kagome mumbled under her breath.

"What?" Inuyasha asked as he sat down on the couch.

"Nothing." Kagome said. "Do you want something to eat?"

"I'm fine. They made me eat hospital food and I think I'm going to throw up." Inuyasha said.

"You should lie down then." Kagome said.

"I'm not tired." Inuyasha said.

"Liar. Lie down for me?" Kagome said with puppy eyes.

Inuyasha looked away trying to avoid her look. He was never able to resist her, but it was even harder when she looked like that. Looking away wasn't helping. He knew she had that look on her face. Sighing he replied, "Fine. I'll lay down if it'll make you feel better." He said.

He got up and walked towards their bedroom. "Oi, Shippo you need to go to sleep. It's way past your bedtime." Inuyasha said.

"But-"

"No buts, go to bed." Inuyasha narrowed his eyes as a final warning.

Shippo sighed and walked up to him. "I'm glad your okay." He said and hugged him. Shippo walked away to his room.

"What the hell was that all about?" Inuyasha asked shocked.

"He thought you were hurt, baka." Kagome said. "He was worried about you."

They walked over to the bed and Inuyasha laid down. "I thought he didn't like me." Inuyasha said.

"You take care of him, of course he likes you. You're just a jerk most the time and never notice it." Kagome said.

"I am not." Inuyasha said defensively.

Kagome glared at him and started walking out of the room. Inuyasha grabbed her wrist and stopped her. "What?" She looked down at him.

"Where are you going?" He asked.

"I'm going to change." She said.

"Change in here."

"Why, so you can watch?" Kagome asked.

Inuyasha just smirked. Getting an evil glare from Kagome, he decided to stop. "I'll turn around. It's stupid that you have to leave to change every time." He said.

"It's indecent for me to just change while you're looking." Kagome said.

"Why? You're my girlfriend, right? I don't think it's a bad thing for you to change in front of me." Inuyasha smiled.

"Of course you wouldn't, hentai." Kagome said dryly.

Inuyasha turned around and threw the blanket over his head. "Just change. Better do it quickly or the blanket just might slip off of my head."

Kagome hurriedly changed her nightgown. The bottom was torn from all her running around outside. Just as she pulled it down past her hips Inuyasha turned around. "Damn." He said disappointed that he didn't move the blanket sooner, although he did get a good look at her legs.

"I told you!" Kagome yelled.

"I gave you a warning to do it quickly. Besides I didn't see anything." Inuyasha said.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you." Kagome said sarcastically.

Inuyasha pulled her roughly down onto the bed causing Kagome to shriek and wrapped his arms around her, careful of his wrist. "I hate it when you do that." Kagome said.

"Get used to it." Inuyasha said sleepily. "Now shut up and go to sleep."

Kagome sighed. "I thought you were supposed to be injured." She said.

"I keep telling you, I'm fine." Inuyasha said. "If you say it again I'll-"

"You'll what? I was worried about you and I want to be sure your okay." Kagome cut him off. "I thought you were seriously hurt."

"You don't have to worry. I wouldn't leave you like that no matter what. Nothing can keep me from you." Inuyasha whispered before falling asleep. Kagome kissed his cheek and joined him in sleep.

The next morning the happy couple was rudely awoken at the sound of someone banging on the door. Inuyasha groaned and rolled over ignoring the door. Kagome looked at Inuyasha knowing he wasn't going to wake up anytime soon and got up to answer the door. She put her robe on and yawned on her way out.

"Can I help you?" Kagome asked. Two policemen were standing in front of her.

"We're here to talk to a Mr. Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha, about the car accident." The policeman on the right asked. The one on the left was too busy looking her up and down.

"I'll get him for you. Why don't you have a seat on the couch." Kagome guided them to the living room. She walked into her room and shook Inuyasha gently. "Inuyasha, wake up."

"Go away." Inuyasha whined.

"There are policemen in the living room, and they want to talk to you." Kagome said.

"I don't want to talk to anyone." Inuyasha grumbled.

"Get out of bed, lazy!" Kagome yelled. "It's rude to keep them waiting."

Inuyasha muttered some curses and got out of bed. He was sleeping well until they came knocking on his door. They both walked out into the living room and sat down in some chairs across from the police. "What do you want?" Inuyasha asked rudely.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome scolded.

"That's all right. We woke you up, we don't expect you to be so friendly in the morning." The policemen said. He had short black hair that was combed back and brown eyes. "We just need to ask you some questions about the accident. My name is Toma, and this is my partner Fuji."

"You already know my name so just make this quick." Inuyasha said.

"We need your insurance information, address, and some other things." The second policeman said. He had hair about two inches long that was styled messy and had bluish green eyes. He handed Inuyasha a paper to fill out.

"So who was the person that hit me?" Inuyasha asked.

"His name was Oshitaka, Naraku." Toma said. "Your lucky. Before he hit you, he killed a woman. Her name was Oki, Kikyo."

Inuyasha filled out the form quickly and handed the paper back. "Is that all you need?" He asked.

"Hai. If there's anything else we need, we'll call you." Toma said. Both officers stood up and headed for the door.

"Sorry to wake you up, sir." Fuji said as they both left.

"You didn't have to be so rude, Inuyasha." Kagome said as.

"They woke me up. How did you expect me to act?" Inuyasha asked.

"A little nicer and not so snappy." Kagome said.

"Too late anyway." Inuyasha said.

"They woke me too, but I wasn't rude." Kagome said.

"That's because you're too damn nice." Inuyasha said.

"Well sorry if I'm too nice." Kagome said. She walked into her room and slammed the door shut.

Inuyasha sighed, knowing he had to apologize and tried to open the door. The door was locked. "Kagome, open the door." Inuyasha yelled.

Kagome ignored him. She crawled back into bed and pulled the covers over her head. "Will you quiet down? Some people are trying to sleep." Kagome said.

"Open this door!" Inuyasha yelled as he pounded on the door. "Kagome!"

Everyone stepped into the club to start getting it ready for later. Miroku had picked Kagome up since Inuyasha didn't have a car at the moment. She had to sneak out knowing Inuyasha would want to come. He should be resting after what happened, but he was too damn stubborn to lay still and get better.

"No Inuyasha?" Rin asked.

"I was able to sneak past him while he was in the shower." Kagome said.

"He should be resting." Rin said.

"Of course, he won't rest." Sango said. "He's doing that `I'm okay crap' isn't he?"

"Hai." Kagome said. "He should be resting easily since Shippo is at home and he has no way of getting here."

"I'll be surprised if Inuyasha doesn't make it here." Miroku laughed.

"Do you really think he'd try to get here?" Kagome asked.

"Probably not, since Shippo is around." Sango said. "He won't leave him there."

"That's true." Kagome said.

"Ah, that reminds me. I have another outfit for you guys." Miroku said.

"Just where do you get these outfits on such short notice?" Sango asked.

"I know a great seamstress." Miroku said. "Kaede does great work. And in so little time, too."

"So what outfit do you have for us today?" Rin asked.

Miroku handed the girls a box and pointed to the back room. "Just put them on." He said.

The girls walked into the back to put on their new uniforms. They walked out of the room wearing really tight cat suits. Kagome's was red, Sango's was purple, and Rin's was black. "Where did you get the idea for these outfits?" Sango asked.

"You know...I don't remember." Miroku said.

"Shall we get to work?" Kagome said as people started walking in.

Swerving through groups of people Kagome managed to make it the rooms in the back. She walked in and was about to ask for their orders when she was pushed against the wall causing the tray to fall from her hands to the floor. "Kagome, we need to talk."

Kagome looked up at the person who had pushed her. "Kouga!" Kagome said.

(I'd stop here but I think you deserve a little more than that.) (Editor: yes we do)

"We need to talk." Kouga said again. He had her effectively pinned to the wall with no escape whatsoever.

"There's nothing to talk about. I have to get back to work." Kagome said as she tried leaving the room.

"We do need to talk." Kouga said. "About us."

"There is no `us' and never will be." Kagome said.

"What are you talking about? I miss you and I want to be with you." Kouga said.

"You chose the wrong way to tell me last time I saw you." Kagome said.

"I didn't mean to come onto you so forcefully." Kouga lowered his head in shame.

"What happened to the old Kouga? My childhood friend that was so sweet and protected me?" Kagome asked.

"He grew up and started to notice you." Kouga said.

"Kouga...sorry, but I'm with Inuyasha now." Kagome said. "And I'm still upset with you after what happened last time."

"I didn't mean to do it. You shouldn't be with that baka." Kouga said. "He doesn't deserve you."

Kagome couldn't hold it any longer and slapped him. Kouga lifted a hand to his face and rubbed where it stung. "You have no right to tell me who I should go out with. I don't want to hear it from you that he doesn't deserve me." Kagome yelled. "Get away from me. I need to get back to work."

Kouga grabbed her arms. "He doesn't deserve you! I'm the only one who should have you!" Kouga yelled. He leaned forward and forcefully kissed her.

_____

"Where's Kagome?" Rin asked.

"She should've come back by now." Sango said.

"I'll go check on her. You keep working." Miroku said.

_____

"You're doing the same thing as last time." Kagome yelled. They were now on the ground with Kouga hovering over her. "Please don't do this." Tears threatened to fall down her cheeks.

Kouga drowned out her words as he kissed her neck. Once she was his, Inuyasha wouldn't want her anymore. "I told you I wanted you, and I won't stop." He said.

Kagome tried to push him off. Anything to get him to stop. He had her legs pinned beneath his and her arms were held down beside her head. He was too strong for her. "Kouga, stop!" Kagome cried.

This was the scene Miroku walked in on. He cursed at himself for not looking for her earlier. He kicked Kouga off of her and helped Kagome up. "Kouga, you're not welcome here. Get out!" Miroku said.

Kouga glared at Miroku and stood up. "I'll be back for you Kagome. You're mine." He said and walked away.

"Are you okay?" Miroku asked.

"I'm fine." Kagome said.

"Come on, I'll take you home." Miroku said.

"What about the club?" Kagome asked.

"Sango and Rin can manage without us for a little while." Miroku said. She needed to be comforted right now and Inuyasha was the only one who could right now.

Miroku walked out with an arm around Kagome. Her head was down and her bangs were covering her eyes. Sango and Rin saw them walk out and he mouthed that he was taking her home. They both nodded and went back to work.

___________

Miroku walked Kagome upstairs. She unlocked the door and walked in. "I can't believe you just snuck past..." Inuyasha trailed off as he saw Kagome.

"I'm going to change." Kagome said quietly and walked into her room.

"What happened?" Inuyasha asked Miroku.

"Kouga." Miroku said. That one name explained it all to Inuyasha. "Should I take Shippo? I think Kagome needs to talk to you, and Shippo would just interrupt."

Inuyasha nodded. "Arigato. I'll call you tomorrow when it's a good time to bring him back."

"I already called Sango's mother. He can stay the night there with Kohaku so he doesn't ask any questions." Miroku said.

"I'll go get him." Inuyasha said. He walked into Shippo's room. He was playing video games. "Oi runt. Get some stuff packed, Kohaku wants you to stay over at his house."

"Really?" Shippo said. Inuyasha nodded and Shippo jumped up to gather some things. Once he had everything ready he walked out of the room with Inuyasha.

"Miroku will take you." Inuyasha said.

"Bye Inuyasha." Shippo waved. Him and Miroku walked out of the apartment.

Inuyasha walked into their room and found Kagome lying on the bed with the blanket covering her. He sat down on the bed and laid a hand on her side. "Kagome, are you okay?" He asked.

Kagome nodded through the blanket. "I'm fine." She said in a soft voice.

"What happened?" Inuyasha asked.

"The same thing as last time when Kouga came by." He told me you didn't deserve me, and I slapped him." Kagome said.

Inuyasha smiled at that. "Are you sure you're okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine. I just don't understand how he changed so much." Kagome said. "He said he'd be back for me."

"He won't come anywhere near you. You're with me, and no one can change that." Inuyasha said. He laid down with Kagome above the blanket and wrapped his arms around her. "You have nothing to worry about. I will protect you."
