Chapter 38

The Joys of Hospitals

The group ran into the hospital desperate to find out the condition their friend was in. They ran up to the front desk and looked for someone to help. "Where the hell is everyone? Isn't this supposed to be a hospital?" Miroku yelled. No one was at the front desk at the moment or anywhere near it.

"May I help you?"

The group turned around to see a nurse. She'd heard the comment and looked a little angry. "We're here to see friend. He got in an accident earlier." Kagome said.

"What's his name?" The nurse asked.

"Tetsusaiga Inuyasha." Kagome said.

"Oh, him." The nurse said with a hint of irritation in her voice. "He's in room 216 on the second floor. Take the elevator and go right. It's at the end of the hallway." She said and walked around to the desk.

"What was that all about?" Sango wondered.

"She seemed mad." Miroku said.

"Who cares? Let's go." Kagome said. They all ran to the elevator.

As they neared Inuyasha's room they heard yelling. "What the hell is going on in there?" Miroku said aloud.

"Sounds like arguing." Sango said.

"Sango, can you watch Shippo while I go see what's going on?" Kagome asked.

"Sure." Sango said. She grabbed Shippo's hand and went to go sit in some chairs in the lobby.

Kagome and Miroku walked into the room and saw a couple of doctors and nurses crowded around the bed. They recognized Inuyasha's voice.

"I don't need it! Fuck off!"

"Inuyasha!" Kagome yelled.

"Kagome?" Inuyasha said. The doctors moved out of the way and stared at her.

"Who are you?" One of the doctors asked.

"I'm his girlfriend." Kagome said.

"Oh good, maybe you can get him to calm down." Another doctor asked.

"What's he been doing?" Miroku asked.

"Let's step outside and I'll explain. I'll tell you about his condition as well." The doctors and Miroku stepped out of the room.

Kagome stayed inside and walked towards Inuyasha. He looked well. "You're okay?" Kagome asked.

"Of course I'm okay. Like an accident is going to do anything to me." Inuyasha said arrogantly. "I'm not weak like everyone else."

Kagome ran up to him and practically jumped on him. The tears she held in earlier were coming out now that she knew he was okay. "Oi, just because I look fine doesn't mean I'm not hurt." Inuyasha said. He noticed she was crying as the tears began to soak through the hospital clothes. "What's wrong?"

Inuyasha lifted her chin to look her in the eyes. "I thought you were badly hurt, or something." Kagome cried.

"I'm okay." Inuyasha said. He brought her closer to him and hugged her.

"I know. I'm just glad your okay." Kagome hugged him as if he might disappear if she let go. All she could see was some bruises and cuts on his arms and face.

"I'm fine. The worst that happened to me was I sprained my wrist." Inuyasha said. "It should be fine in a week or so, it isn't that bad."

"Shippo is worried about you too." Kagome said.

"Where is the annoying little runt anyway?" Inuyasha asked.

"He's outside with Sango." Kagome said. "What were you yelling at the doctors for?"

"I don't want to stay in the hospital. They won't let me go home tonight." Inuyasha said. "They were trying to shove painkillers down my throat."

"Why are you arguing with doctors? They know better than you do." Kagome said. She wiped the tears from her eyes.

"Keh. I know my own body." Inuyasha replied.

The door opened and Miroku stepped in. "Well, you can go home today." Miroku said. "The doctors don't want you in here anymore because of your attitude. You have to come check in tomorrow though."

"Good, I was going to leave tonight anyway." Inuyasha said.

"How would you have gotten home? Your mustang was totaled." Miroku said.

"I would've called you, dumbass." Inuyasha snorted.

"Shippo wants to see you. He's really worried." Miroku said.

Shippo walked into the room with red puffy eyes. You could tell he was crying. "Are you okay?" Shippo asked.

Inuyasha sighed and rolled his eyes. "Do you honestly think I'd be hurt in a car accident?" Inuyasha said.

"Then, you're okay?" Shippo said.

"I'm okay." Inuyasha said. He was getting tired of reassuring people about his condition.

As soon as he said he was okay Shippo launched himself at Inuyasha. Like Kagome, he let out the tears he desperately tried to hold back. "What is with everyone? I'm fine." Inuyasha said.

"I thought my dream was going to come true and you were going to leave me." Shippo cried.

Inuyasha's eyes softened and held Shippo in his lap. "I'm not going anywhere." He reassured him.

"He's too stubborn to die." Kagome said.

"Oi, what happened to you being worried about me?" Inuyasha said.

"It's passed." Kagome said. Although she was still slightly worried.

Suddenly the door opened and Sesshomaru stepped in. He looked around and saw the cute little family on the hospital bed and grew angry. "I thought you were hurt, not starting a family." He said.

"Sess!" Rin yelled from outside. She poked her head in threw the door and took a look at Inuyasha. "You seem fine."

"What the hell are you doing here?" Inuyasha asked.

"Sango told me you were dead." Sesshomaru said.

"I said he could be dead!" Sango yelled. "The car was going pretty fast."

"I wasted my time coming here." Sesshomaru said.

"I'm fine, by the way. Thanks for caring." Inuyasha said sarcastically.

Sesshomaru glared at him. "You should be nicer Sesshomaru. Your brother just got in an accident." Rin said.

"Half brother." Inuyasha and Sesshomaru said at the same time.

Everyone laughed and the brothers grew confused. They were more alike than different and the others were the only ones who knew. "What?" Inuyasha asked thinking he missed some kind of joke.

"Don't even waste time wondering." Sesshomaru said. "Since you seem unscathed, I'll be leaving."

"Do you need anything?" Rin asked since Sesshomaru wouldn't even help.

"I just want to leave this damn hospital." Inuyasha said.

"Shouldn't you stay overnight for observation?" Rin asked.

"The doctors are kicking him out because of his attitude." Miroku said.

"If Inuyasha managed to get himself kicked out of the hospital, then he's fine." Sesshomaru said. He grabbed Rin's arm and led her towards the door. "Let's go."

"Bye. Hope you feel better!" Rin shouted as she was being dragged out.

"I feel fine!" Inuyasha yelled. "Why doesn't anyone listen?"

"Because your too stubborn to admit that your hurt." Sango said.

"So what happened?" Kagome asked.

"I was pulling out of the driveway and some asshole was speeding and swerved right into me." Inuyasha said.

"He was going about eighty, I think." Miroku said.

"The police are supposed to contact you tomorrow and ask you some questions." Sango said.

"Was the person who hit you okay?" Kagome asked.

"He was drunk, and somehow only managed to break his arm." Miroku said.

"I should kick his ass for what he did to my car." Inuyasha said. "I had that car specially made for me."

"Who cares as long as you're all right?" Kagome said. "You could've been seriously hurt."

"For the last time, I'm fine. Now when can I get the hell out of this damn hospital?" Inuyasha said angrily.

Sorry it's a little short but I figured that was a good stopping point. I have a friend coming over today so I had to get this chapter finished. See Inuyasha is fine. I couldn't kill him he's too cute. Hehe. Hope you like it. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.

Questions: Inuyasha drives a mustang. I'm not going to get into specifics because I don't know that much about cars. Only the guys drive. Japan is a busy place and not so many people drive. I know things seem a little off sometimes but play along. I know the fic seems unrealistic sometimes, I try to keep it as real as I can but some things just fly by me. The club Miroku owns is a bar/club. There are seamstresses that can make an outfit within a day. I've seen them. I'll work on the realistic thing with the fic. I'm not mad constructive criticism helps make me be a better writer just don't insult what I've done. And Sess and Rin didn't use protection. Don't jump to conclusions on a baby either.
