Chapter 37

A New Crisis

"You jerk." Kagome said. "We're supposed to pick Shippo up now."

"The runt can wait a couple of minutes." Inuyasha said.

Kagome rolled her eyes and got out of the car. "Let's go get him. You owe him something for this." She said.

"Keh, like what?" Inuyasha asked.

"Anything he wants." Kagome said.

"I'm not agreeing to that." Inuyasha said.

"Too late." Kagome said. They walked up to Myoga's and knocked on the door.

"Ah Kagome, it's always a pleasure to see you." Myoga said.

"Nice to see you to." Kagome smiled.

Inuyasha looked at them both and immediately got jealous. Myoga was taking attention away from him and he didn't like it. She was smiling at Myoga because he said something nice. "Where's Shippo?" Inuyasha asked.

"He's coming. He saw your car out the window." Myoga said.

"Kagome!" Shippo shouted. He ran to her and hugged her.

"Let's get going. I'm tired." Inuyasha said. "Bye Myoga, thanks."

"Any time." Myoga said and he shut the door.

"Inuyasha is going to buy you something nice Shippo." Kagome told him.

"Really? What?" Shippo asked.

"Anything you want." Kagome said.

"I want a video game system!" Shippo said excitedly.

"You heard him Inuyasha. He's going to need some games for it too." Kagome said.

"What? I have to buy all that crap?" Inuyasha said.

Almost time to go. Rin was waiting for Sesshomaru to come pick her up. She was wearing a long black dress with red roses lined at the bottom. The slit of the dress came up to about mid thigh and she had on black high heels with a rose on both of the outsides. Her hair was up with a rose hair clip.

The doorbell rang and Rin went to answer it. "Hey Sesshomaru." She said. "You look great."

Sesshomaru was wearing a black business suit with a white collared shirt underneath the jacket. He leaned down and kissed her. "You look beautiful." He said.

"Arigato." Rin said.

"Ready?" Sesshomaru asked. Rin nodded and they walked to the car.

They both stepped out of the car and walked to the entrance of the restaurant. Walking inside they met the waiter. "Name?"

"Sesshomaru." He said.

"Right this way." The waiter said. He led them to a table in the back where it was more private. The room was brightly lit with chandeliers above each table. The walls were a light tan color giving it an elegant look and the tables matched the walls. The waiter handed them each a menu. "Someone will be taking your order soon." He said and walked away.

"You like fancy places don't you?" Rin asked as she looked at the menu.

"I do." He said.

"It's nice." Rin smiled. "So how's work?"

"Boring." Sesshomaru said. "I started the business to pass time. Now it seems that nothing is working."

"Pass time?" Rin asked.

"I needed something to do in my free time so I started the business. Now the job no longer keeps me occupied. I've been neglecting my work. I think I may let someone else run it while I'm gone." Sesshomaru said.

"You shouldn't neglect your work." Rin said.

"I don't care about it. I'd rather spend my time with you." Sesshomaru said.

Rin blushed a deep shade of red. He'd never said anything so sweet. The moment was ruined when a waiter came to take their order.

Inuyasha, Kagome, and a very happy Shippo all walked out of the game store and were heading towards the car. Inuyasha had three boxes in his arms. "How did I end up buying all this crap?" Inuyasha asked.

"Look how happy you made Shippo." Kagome said.

Shippo was humming to himself. He couldn't wait to get home to play his games. "Arigato Inuyasha!" He said.

"Yeah yeah." Inuyasha mumbled. He placed the boxes in the trunk of the car and got in. It was really late and Shippo needed to get home to bed. "You won't be playing the games tonight."

"Why not?" Shippo whined.

"It's late." Inuyasha said.

"But I always stay up later than this." Shippo said.

"That's because we were gone." Inuyasha said. "There are no excuses tonight. You're going to bed."

"He's right Shippo." Kagome said. "You can play with your games tomorrow."

"But I wanted to play." Shippo mumbled but let it go. He knew he wasn't going to win if Kagome wasn't on his side.

Inuyasha parked the car in front of the building. "I'm just dropping you off I need to go talk to Miroku." Inuyasha said.

"Hai." Kagome said. She grabbed the boxes out of the back and walked into the building with Shippo.

"I can't stay up even for a little while?" Shippo asked.

"No, you can't." Kagome said. "I'll hook it up so you can play if first thing tomorrow."

"Arigato." Shippo said. He ran off to his room to get ready for bed.

Kagome walked into her room so she could change into her pajamas. It was still early but she figured she wasn't going anywhere so she might as well change. She changed into a long white nightgown with the same color robe. The door opened and she turned around.

"Night Kagome." Shippo said. He walked up to her and hugged her goodnight.

"Goodnight Shippo." She hugged him back. They both walked out of the room. Kagome sat on the couch and Shippo went to his room.

Something was bothering Kagome. She had a bad feeling about something. Shaking the feeling off she turned the TV on to find something to watch until Inuyasha got home.

Sesshomaru and Rin walked out of the restaurant. "That was great Sess thanks." Rin said.

"Your welcome." Sesshomaru said. They both got into the car. He started the car and headed towards his place.

Rin knew where they were going but she didn't mind. Lately they've been spending a lot of time at her place.

Kagome had fallen asleep on the couch waiting for Inuyasha. Someone was knocking on the door and that's what woke her up. She rubbed her eyes as she walked to the door to answer it. "Miroku?" Kagome said when she saw who was at the door. "What are you doing here? I thought Inuyasha was supposed to at your place."

"I don't know how to tell you this Kagome, but...Inuyasha's been in a car accident." Miroku said sadly.

"What?" Kagome said with disbelief.

"On his way back here, and some guy hit him going eighty miles an hour." Miroku said. "He's at the hospital right now."

"Is he okay?" Kagome asked.

"I haven't been to the hospital yet. They wouldn't let anyone ride in the ambulance. I'm sure he's fine." Miroku said.

"Can you take me there?" Kagome asked.

"You'll have to take Shippo with you." Miroku said. "I'll meet you down by the car. Sango's there too."

Kagome nodded and ran into her room to grab her jacket. She just put it on over her pajamas, too worried about Inuyasha to change. Tears were threatening to fall. Not knowing how bad the accident might be was bothering her. What if it was really bad? No, she couldn't think like that.

Kagome ran out of her room to Shippo's. "Shippo, wake up." Kagome shook him lightly.

"What?" Shippo rubbed his eyes.

"Come on, we have to go to the hospital." Kagome said. She hated having to tell Shippo this.

"What's wrong?" Shippo asked.

"Inuyasha's been in an accident." Kagome said. She grabbed his jacket and handed it to him. "We need to go."

Shippo didn't say a thing. It was repeating. The thing with his parents. His dream was coming true. Something might happen to Inuyasha and he would leave then the same thing would happen to Kagome. He didn't want anyone to leave again. He put his jacket on and clung to Kagome's hand.

They both walked down to Miroku's car. Sango sat in the back to comfort them. She had seen the accident but didn't know how bad Inuyasha's situation was. "I'm sure he'll be fine. He's too stubborn to let anything serious happen to him." Sango said.

Kagome laughed weakly. "Your right." She said even though she didn't believe her own words.

Miroku was speeding to get to the hospital. He was swerving through lanes and barely missing objects. They finally made it to the hospital.

Sorry that it took so long to get this chapter out. I was gone the whole weekend and I still have to write an essay. Sorry if it seems a little rushed. I really wanted to get this chapter out ASAP. I probably won't get the next chapter out until after Tuesday. Sorry and I left such an evil cliffhanger too. Gomen. I don't know if I'll be able to update on my other fic. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
