Chapter 46

Breaking Down

Inuyasha went limp at the sight of Kagome's grandfather standing in front of them. The look on his face was of absolute disgust as he grabbed Kagome's arm and tore her away from Inuyasha's embrace.

"Kagome, what the hell is wrong with you? What are you wearing? Didn't I tell you to stay away from him?" Her grandfather yelled at her.

"What are you talking about? You don't run my life! And what the hell are you doing here, anyway?" Kagome asked.

"I'm here to take you home. Hojo has told me all of the horrible things that have happened while he's visited. You are to come home with me and marry Hojo." Her grandfather yelled. "I'm just glad he isn't here to see you all dolled up like a whore. He might call off the engagement."

Kagome's head lowered and tried desperately to keep the tears in. "I will not marry that man. I don't love him. I barely even know him. I would rather die than go back and live with you!" Kagome shouted angrily before running off in the opposite direction.

"I can't believe you. She's your fucking granddaughter. How dare you stand there and call her a whore! People like you, who disown their own family members don't deserve to live." Inuyasha said angrily. "She doesn't want to go with you and she doesn't want to marry Hobo or whatever the fuck his name is. She's mine, and as long as she's with me I'll protect her even from you. If I ever see you or Hobo's face again I won't hold back. No one, not even your own granddaughter will be able to stop me from making you or him suffer."

Kagome's grandfather stood there shocked beyond belief and watched as Inuyasha chased after Kagome.

Inuyasha ran as fast as he could, hoping he would find Kagome. If he weren't so worried about finding her he would've gotten his car. It was too late to turn back for it now. Running at a speed he didn't even know he could, he searched for her. He was still full of anger from what her so called `grandfather' had just done.

Finally after a while of running he found Kagome on the ground sobbing. He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her. "Don't listen to him. That senile old bastard doesn't know what he's talking about." Inuyasha said.

"I know. I just...its just that all of the stuff he's done has finally taken its toll on me. I've gone this far without doing anything. I just couldn't help it when he called me a whore. I couldn't control myself." Kagome cried. She turned around and threw herself into his embrace.

"Your not a whore." Inuyasha reassured her. He rubbed her back, trying to calm her down. "Come on, it's cold out. If we stay out any longer you'll get sick."

Kagome nodded weakly and stood up with some help from Inuyasha. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders. She held it together as they walked down the street. She felt a little better with Inuyasha beside her with his arms around her. It comforted her somewhat.

By the time they got home Kagome had stopped crying. Inuyasha's heart ached every time he looked at her tear stained face. He wished he could've stopped the horrible things that were said to her. Comforting her was the only thing he could do now.

"Why don't you take a warm bath?" Inuyasha suggested.

Kagome nodded and slowly made her way to the bathroom. As soon as she shut the door Inuyasha turned around and walked into the kitchen. He picked up the phone and dialed Myoga's number.

"Hello." Myoga answered.

"Oi, Myoga it's me. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind keeping Shippo there tonight, and dropping him off at daycare in the morning."

"I don't mind, but why?"

"Something came up, and Kagome needs some comforting right now."

"I understand. What should I tell Shippo?"

"Can you put him on the phone?"

"Hai." Myoga said.

"Hello." Shippo answered.

"Hey runt, do you mind staying there tonight?" Inuyasha asked.

"Why?" Shippo asked.

"There's something going on right now. If you were here, you would just get in the way. Myoga will drop you off at daycare and I'll come pick you up. Kagome and I will take you to a movie or something." Inuyasha said.

"Okay." Shippo said. "Make sure your not late."

"Fine, I'll be on time." Inuyasha chuckled. "Don't stay up too late."

"I won't." Shippo said.

"Bye."

"Bye." Inuyasha hung up the phone and sat on the couch waiting for Kagome to get out of the bathroom. Maybe taking a warm bath would calm her.

Kagome stepped out of the bathroom in a towel. She'd forgotten to grab a change of clothes before she bathed. She slowly made her way to the bedroom to get dressed. Inuyasha got up and followed her in. To his disappointment, she had just slipped a nightgown over her head as soon as he walked in.

He walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her again. She buried her face into his chest and blinked back her tears. Inuyasha sat down on the edge of the bed and adjusted Kagome so that she was straddling his hips. He leaned forward and gently kissed her on the lips.

Kagome responded and wrapped her arms around his neck. She opened her mouth when his tongue tapped against hers allowing him to deepen the kiss. They both broke apart for air and Inuyasha kissed her neck.

He leaned back and moved so that Kagome was laying on him. "Ignore whatever that bastard said to you. It's not true." Inuyasha said. He kissed her one more time before pulling the blanket over them.

"Arigato Inuyasha." Kagome said before drifting off to sleep. Inuyasha smiled and closed his eyes.

The next morning Kagome woke up and stretched. Looking at the clock she realized it was almost two in the afternoon. Shippo would have to be picked up soon. Wait...Shippo? She hadn't seen him all night.

"Inuyasha." Kagome shook him. "Inuyasha!"

"What?" Inuyasha mumbled and rolled over, taking her with him.

"Where's Shippo?" Kagome asked.

"He's at Myoga's. I called and had him stay over so he wouldn't worry about you." Inuyasha grumbled.

"Oh, well it's almost time to pick him up." Kagome said.

"What? It can't be three yet." Inuyasha said.

"It's almost two. Now wake up." Kagome shouted.

"I don't want to." Inuyasha whined. He rolled around on the bed until his head was laying on her stomach.

Kagome sighed and ran her fingers through his hair. "Come on Inuyasha...Shippo will be mad if we're late to pick him up."

Inuyasha's eyes shot open. He forgot he made a promise with Shippo. If he went back on it he'd never hear the end of it. He'd probably get Kagome on him too. That was not something he wanted, especially after all the ignoring she did earlier.

Then he remembered, Kagome had promised to spend the day with him. He'd screwed it up by making plans with Shippo. Now he'd have to wait until tomorrow. Unless...he got Shippo to wait a day. No, that wouldn't work. Damn kid was too stubborn. "Fuck." Inuyasha said aloud without realizing.

"What?" Kagome said.

"Uh, nothing. Come on we have to get ready." Inuyasha said. In about five minutes they were both dressed and on their way to pick up Shippo.

"The runt will be spending time with us." Inuyasha said as he parked the car in front of the daycare. They were a couple of minutes early so they had to wait.

"I thought you wanted to spend the day with just me." Kagome said.

"I did, but I forgot when I told him to stay at Myoga's. I promised him we'd spend the day with him." Inuyasha explained. "We'll spend time together tomorrow."

"Your so nice." Kagome said.

"Keh." Inuyasha crossed his arms. He still wanted to spend time with Kagome.

Shippo came running out of the daycare center and practically threw himself into the car. "So where are we going?" Shippo asked excitedly.

"Wherever you want." Kagome smiled.

It didn't take them long to realize what a mistake saying that was. Shippo wanted to see a movie, then eat, then do some shopping. The shopping took forever. He got new clothes, new video games, some books, and some more paints. They probably would've bought him more stuff if it weren't so late.

Inuyasha and Kagome slowly walked into the living room letting the bags from their hands drop to the ground. Shippo on the other hand ran in and asked Inuyasha to play video games. He was as energetic as ever.

The only thing that shut him up was when Inuyasha promised he'd take the video games system to Myoga's so he'd have something to do there. After that was done he dragged Kagome downstairs with him. She was almost tempted to stay home sick.

Finally after a long day they made it to the club. "My feet hurt. Kami, I hope Miroku went easy on us with the outfits." Kagome sighed.

"Knowing Miroku, he didn't." Inuyasha said.

"Kaede-sama designed the outfits last time. It still surprises me that she made those." Kagome said. "I should visit her soon. I haven't talked to her in ages."

"Save that for later. You have to work now." Inuyasha said looking forward to the new outfit.

"Pig." Kagome muttered as she rolled her eyes.

"I heard that!" Inuyasha yelled as he caught up with Kagome.

"Good, maybe you'll change then." Kagome said as she walked into the back room to get changed. She assumed Sango and Rin were already in there because Miroku and Sesshomaru were sitting at the bar.

"So you've made up." Miroku said.

"Yeah...her fucking grandfather called her a whore last night though." Inuyasha said.

"Her grandfather?" Sesshomaru asked.

"Yeah...she just about broke down from what he said." Inuyasha explained.

"Her own grandfather." Miroku shook his head.

"Well, I gave him a piece of my mind. I told him to stay the fuck away from her, or no one would stop me from what I wanted to do to him." Inuyasha said. "Or that bastard Hobo."

"Hobo?" Miroku and Sesshomaru said at the same time.

"The guy who was arranged to marry her." Inuyasha said.

"Oh." Miroku said. "Bet you blew up about that."

"Of course I did. She's my fucking girlfriend!" Inuyasha yelled.

"Seems like you want her to be more." Sesshomaru said.

"What about Rin? What's she to you? Just a girlfriend?" Inuyasha asked.

"She is my girlfriend." Sesshomaru said.

"I know Sango is more than a girlfriend to me." Miroku said. "I love her."

Yay done with the chapter. I've been doing well on the updating if I say so myself. The updates might come slower after this because of finals. I have seven finals I need to take. Two a day starting Monday. I need to study for math! I suck at math! Anyways hope you like this chapter. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
