Busy Lives
Chapter 49
Misunderstandings
"You what?" Sango asked.
"I love you." Miroku repeated.
Sango didn't know what to say. What could she say? No one other than family had said they loved her. Not knowing what to do she ran out of the apartment. "Sango!" Miroku shouted and chased after her. It was too late she had already reached the elevator.
"Dammit." Miroku banged his hand on the elevator door. He dragged himself back inside and picked up the phone. Maybe she ran to Kagome's?
~~~~~~~~~~~
"He what?" Kagome asked.
"Sesshomaru...he left me." Rin cried.
"What? Why?" Kagome asked.
Inuyasha heard Kagome's questions and got up to listen.
"He heard. The doctor called and left a message that I am pregnant. Sesshomaru must've heard it while I was outside getting the newspaper. He left without even saying anything. That's when I heard the message." Rin said.
"Are you sure he left?" Kagome asked.
"He just left. He didn't answer any of my questions, or even acknowledge me. He just drove away. I don't know what to do." Rin said.
"Just calm down." Kagome said. "I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason he left. Maybe he didn't hear the message, and went out on business."
"No, he usually apologizes before he leaves." Rin said.
"I can't believe he'd do something like that." Kagome said.
"What do I do? I don't want to lose him." Rin cried.
"I'm sure he's not leaving you. Why don't you get some sleep, and I'll get Inuyasha to find out what's going on?" Kagome said.
"Hai." Rin said. She was getting really tired. "Arigato."
Kagome hung up the phone and turned to Inuyasha. "Who was that? What do I have to do?" Inuyasha asked.
"You have to find your idiot brother." Kagome said.
"Why?" Inuyasha asked. "We're supposed to spend today together."
"I know but he left Rin. He heard a message that she was pregnant, and he left without an explanation." Kagome said.
"Rin's pregnant?" Inuyasha asked. "Is it Sesshomaru's?"
"Of course it is!" Kagome shouted. She pushed him out the front door. "Don't come back until you talk to him!"
Inuyasha stood shocked that she had ordered him to find his dumb ass brother. Another chance to spend time with her was ruined. "Can I at least have my car keys?" He asked. He heard the dangling of his car keys as he saw Kagome's shadow get closer to the door. She threw them under. "Thanks." He said dryly and left on the search for Sesshomaru.
Kagome was about to sit down when the phone rang again. "Hello?"
"Kagome, have you seen Sango?" Miroku asked.
"No I haven't." Kagome said. "Why, did something happen?"
"I told her I loved her, and she left." Miroku said.
`This was not a good day for love.' Kagome thought. "She just left?"
"Hai, after I told her. I chased after her but the elevator doors closed before I could reach her."
"Gomen Miroku. I told you to say something. I didn't think she'd leave."
"Its not your fault. Perhaps Sango doesn't return the same feelings."
"I'm sure she does." Kagome said. A knock at the door stopped her from talking. "Hold on, it's the door. Inuyasha, you're not coming back in unless you find Sesshomaru!"
"Kagome, it's me Sango."
"Oh, gomen Sango. Just a minute." Kagome said. "Gomen Miroku, but Sango's here. I'll talk to her."
"Arigato." Miroku said and hung up.
Kagome hung up the phone and opened the door. "What's wrong?" She asked when she saw a gloomy look on Sango's face.
"Miroku told me he loved me." Sango said.
"That's great!" Kagome said.
"No, its not." Sango said.
"Why not?" Kagome asked.
"I don't know. I'm...I'm just not used to that much attention from a guy. I don't know what I feel about Miroku." Sango said.
"Have you thought about it?"
"No, I never thought about it until now."
"What are you going to do? He's worried about you."
"He is?"
"Hai, he was just asking if I saw you."
"I don't know what to do."
"Just give yourself some time to think about it, although I'm sure you love him too. I've never seen you act this way around a guy."
Sango thought about it. It was true. Usually she didn't feel so comfortable around guys. They always thought she was abusive and mean. She was to the perverts that tried to hit on her but never to Miroku and he was a pervert. Was she so comfortable that she loved him?
"I think I know what to do." Sango said. She stood up. "Arigato Kagome."
"Your welcome. Let me know how it goes k?" Kagome said and hugged her.
"I will." Sango said and she left.
Kagome dropped down onto the couch, so much drama in one day. Sesshomaru left Rin, and Miroku told Sango he loved her. What else? She lifted her feet onto the couch and leaned back, closing her eyes. Soon enough she was asleep.
Inuyasha was still pissed off that Kagome kicked him out just to find Sesshomaru. He had parked his car and was walking to Sesshomaru's front door. He rang the doorbell and a short bald guy answered. "Where's Sesshomaru, Jaken?" He asked rudely.
"Sesshomaru-sama is not seeing visitors today." Jaken said and tried to close the door.
Inuyasha put his foot in the doorway. "I'm not a visitor. I'm his fucking brother!" He shouted angrily.
"You're only his half brother. I was told not to let anyone in!" Jaken shouted as she tried to shut the door.
"Will you two quit arguing? Jaken, let him in." Sesshomaru said from the top of the staircase.
"Hai, Sesshomaru-sama." Jaken said and swung the door open.
"What do you want, Inuyasha?" Sesshomaru asked.
"Why the hell did you leave Rin? Because of you, I missed another opportunity to spend a day with Kagome." Inuyasha said.
"I did not leave Rin." Sesshomaru said.
"That's not what she thinks." Inuyasha said.
"I merely left the house when I heard of her pregnancy."
"She thinks you left her because of that."
"I didn't."
"Well then, you should've told her that instead of leaving her like you did."
"I was too shocked and didn't realize what I was doing until I got home."
"You should've called her when you knew what you were doing. She called Kagome crying because she's afraid of losing you, baka!"
"I would never leave her, especially since she carries my child."
"What the hell are you doing that's so important that you can't call and reassure her?"
"I'm remodeling."
"Remodeling what?"
"One of the studies for the baby's room. She'll live with me after this."
"You fucking idiot. Go over and tell her that everything is ok!" Inuyasha shouted. He was getting pissed off because Sesshomaru hadn't shown any interest that his girlfriend, who was carrying his child, was bawling her eyes out over a misunderstanding.
"Fine, I'll talk to her so you can go back home to your mistress." Sesshomaru said.
"She's not my mistress." Inuyasha said. He shot him a look before moving away.
"Deny it all you want." Sesshomaru said.
"When are you going to go talk to her?" Inuyasha asked.
"As soon as I move the rest of the boxes in the room. There's only two left." Sesshomaru said.
Inuyasha walked out the front door and to his car. Once Sesshomaru could no longer hear the engine he walked down the stairs and to his car. He didn't really have to move the boxes at that moment. Jaken would do it. That's what he was getting paid for.
He quickly started the engine and headed to Rin's house. Once he got there he parked the car and went to the front door. He knocked and waited for her to answer. Sango answered instead, and she looked ready to kill.
"Before you start yelling at me, it was a misunderstanding and I'm here to clear it up." Sesshomaru said.
"She's sleeping, but I think this is something you can wake her up for. I have to go to Miroku's anyway." Sango said. She let him in and put on her shoes. "Don't say anything stupid, she's really emotional right now."
Sesshomaru nodded and headed towards Rin's bedroom. He found her on her side holding her pillow in her arms. Tears stained her cheeks and she looked sad even as she was asleep.
Sesshomaru shook her gently causing her to stir. "Sesshomaru?" Rin said thinking it was still a dream.
He grabbed her arm and pulled her into his lap proving it wasn't a dream. Rin clung to him almost desperately afraid he would leave again if she let go. "You left me." She said.
"I know. I'm sorry. I heard the message, and I was shocked. I realized that neither of us were prepared for a child so I went home and got a room ready. You're moving in. I'll have your stuff moved in tomorrow." Sesshomaru explained.
"So your not mad?" Rin asked.
"How could I be mad at something we created? I'm surprised it happened and wasn't really thinking of having a child but that can't be helped." Sesshomaru said.
Rin kissed and hugged him. "I was scared. I thought you were leaving me." She said.
"I wouldn't leave you, especially since your carrying my child." Sesshomaru placed his hands on his stomach.
Rin put her hands over his and smiled. "Do you want a boy or a girl?" She asked.
"Does it matter? We could always have more later." Sesshomaru smiled.
"I guess we could." Rin giggled.
Sorry I couldn't write more and didn't fill you in on Sango and Miroku's situation. I'm so tired and I still need to update on When We First Met. School is really stressing me out. I don't know what half of my finals are and I did badly on my math one this morning. But that's how it goes.
Just to let you know I have another one shot on Mediaminer.org for those of you who want to read it. I'd post it on Fanfiction but it's a lemon and probably too graphic for this site. If you want to read it it's called Two Words That Started It All. My penname is InuHime.
