Chapter 31
Come On, Come On, Come On, and Do It…On The Dance Floor
Kagome sat with her classmates in her gown and cap, and listened to the speakers at the graduation ceremony. She could see her family and InuYasha in the audience. She reflected that it was truly amazing she had got this far. Pursuing her education on her own time since she was fifteen, while spending most of her time in the Feudal era with InuYasha and her friends collecting shards and fighting Naraku, had been a daunting task. And now it was over. Luckily, her family understood when she told them she was not going to go to University. It was imperative she finish her quest first. And then…she closed her eyes briefly, it was too complicated to think beyond that. It was her heart's desire that they succeed soon, and then she and InuYasha could solidify their commitment to each other. But defeating Naraku was not a sure thing, despite InuYasha's confidence.
They started reading the students' names, and the new graduates walked up one by one to the podium to get their certificates. When it was Kagome's turn, she walked up to the podium, glancing at the proud and smiling faces of her family. She was relieved that InuYasha was being so patient through this, and he gave her a quick smile as she looked his way.
When the ceremony was over, she was walking over to her waiting family and InuYasha, when Eri came running over to congratulate her.
“I'm so excited about tonight,” Eri said. “Club Moishi Moishi is one of the hottest clubs in Harajuku.”
Ayumi and Yuka joined them, and soon so did InuYasha. Her friends all looked up at him with big, shining eyes and quietly said hello. The girls began discussing their wardrobe for the night.
“Will you be wearing those black leather pants again?” Yuka shyly asked InuYasha.
InuYasha blushed, and shook his head with a frown.
Eri, Yuka and Ayumi looked disappointed.
“We got new outfits last night at Decks Tokyo Beach,” said Kagome.
“Wow, that's great!” said Eri.
Kagome heard her family calling for her, and she took InuYasha's hand and said goodbye to her friends.
After dinner that night, Kagome and InuYasha started getting ready for the club.
“Oh my,” said Mrs. Higurashi when she saw InuYasha. “I really like the outfit Kagome chose for you.”
InuYasha mumbled and looked at his feet, flushing.
“But let's see about getting you something besides a cap and sneakers,” she said. “Come with me.”
With some trepidation, he followed her to her room. After rummaging in a drawer, Mrs. Higurashi came up with a gold scarf. She took the off the cap and proceeded to tie it on his head.
“Watch the ears,” he said.
She tied it loose enough so his ears were not flattened.
“Those black sneakers will just not do,” she said. “Let's see what we can do about it.”
In the back of her closet, she found an old, battered shoe box. Inside were a pair of brown suede boots. InuYasha frowned. They did not look very comfortable to him. But she made him try them on, and they were so soft, he was surprised at how comfortable they felt.
“Mom, are you dressing InuYasha again?” said Kagome from the doorway.
They turned to look at her. She had just finished her hair and make up and was ready to leave.
“Dear, you look simply beautiful,” said her mother with a sigh. “You two will be the loveliest couple in Harajuku tonight.”
“Feh!” said InuYasha putting his hand to his head. “I don't want the kind of attention we got last time.”
“It will be okay,” said Kagome, and a meaningful glance passed between the two of them.
The rut had finally given up its control of him after that fateful day they returned from the Feudal era. But despite that, Kagome's mother could see a gleam in their eyes when they looked at each other.
`Ah, to be young and in love,' she thought. `Such a wonderful time of life.'
Kagome and InuYasha said goodbye and they were on their way. Kagome wanted to walk and then take the subway, like she had last time. But InuYasha wouldn't hear of it.
“Those trains are too crowded,” he growled. “I don't want you in them dressed like that.”
He scooped her up and leaped onto the rooftop of the nearest building. She rode on his back until they got to Harajuku. Club Moishi Moishi was on the top floor of a twenty-storey building. It had an outside terrace that ran around it, and InuYasha decided to leap up to it from a neighboring roof rather than take the elevator. Luckily, no one was looking when they made their sudden appearance.
Kagome led InuYasha into the club and looked around for her friends. When she did not see them right away, she decided to put off looking for them. Knowing them, they would find her anyway. And all they had to do was follow the eyes of the female population of the place. It seemed every girl was inconspicuously or outright checking out InuYasha. The hanyou seemed more aware of the attention now that his mind and body were not consumed by the rut. She put a comforting hand on his back and smiled at him reassuringly in an attempt to ease his obvious discomfiture.
Suddenly she heard a song playing on the dance floor that she loved.
“Come on, InuYasha,” she said taking his hand. “I want to dance.”
Strains of the song “Come” were starting as they moved out on to the dance floor.
“Kagome, I told you I don't dance,” he said testily.
“Come on InuYasha, have you ever tried to dance?” she replied.
“When would I get a chance to do that, growing up in the forests of my time?” he snapped.
“With your agility, I'm sure you would be a good dancer if you tried,” she said. “Just follow my lead.”
She put one of his arms around her waist and did the same with hers. Then she took his other hand in hers, and began to move to the rhythm of the music.
“Just listen to the beat of the music,” she said, “and move with it.”
Staring deeply into her eyes, he began to move with her. She swayed her hips from side to side and he mimicked her. Smiling in approval, her eyes glittering, she moved closer to him so that their bodies rubbed together as they danced. As she had hoped, his movements were sinuous and graceful. She broke away from him, holding his hand and spinning, and then came back into his embrace. Then she locked both arms around his back, and he followed suit. She couldn't resist rubbing her cheek on his exposed chest and breathing deeply of his musky, masculine scent. His long mane of hair brushed her naked arms, tickling them in a most erotic way.
“Kagome, InuYasha!”
Her friends had found them.
“Wow, you two look gorgeous!” said Eri.
“I didn't know you could dance InuYasha,” said Yuka shyly.
InuYasha blushed.
“I'm teaching him to dance,” said Kagome.
“Really?” said Ayumi, “I would never have known you didn't dance.”
“He has innate ability,” said Kagome, smiling up into his red face.
“Oh, I love this song!” said Eri as strains of a new dance song started.
The three girls started to dance, and Kagome continued her dance lesson. As they danced, InuYasha began to smell her getting aroused. She gave his chest a sly, quick lick, and despite the fact that the rut was gone, her raw sexuality was making him aroused as well. Other dancers near them were now beginning to watch them in obvious amazement and appreciation.
When a slow song came on, they held each other tight, gently moving to the music, their eyes closed as they basked in the warm waves of passion they had for each other. The song ended and she looked up at him with eyes shining with love and desire. He could not resist her allure and kissed her, long, slow and deeply. When he broke the kiss she was panting, and the smell of her arousal was overwhelming to him.
“Let's leave,” she said, her voice low and husky.
“And go where?” he said suspiciously.
A slow, wicked grin crossed her face.
“I have an idea,” she said.
