Chapter 001 - Sad Spirit
The wind blew furiously outside the wooden sheet covered windows of the large room, and a young girl sat sadly on her legs as she stared out a small opening in the sheets. Her soft blue eyes stuck to the blowing rain that had only started.
She let a heavy sigh come from her light delicate lips as she turned her gaze down to her hands that were placed lightly in her lap.
A light breeze came through the small opening and teased her long, shimmering black hair lightly and then the wind seized.
"Kagome?" A small voice asked and a door near the far end of the room opened slowly to show a small scared face peering in.
"Yes, Shippou?" She asked kindly and smiled sweetly to the young fox demon. A dim light seemed to grace her face at the appearance of the small boy. "Is something wrong?" She asked in a motherly tone as the boy moved over to her slowly and when a lighting crack shattered a large oak tree outside the mansion the fox demon yelled and jumped into the young woman's arms and buried his face into her kimono as he whimpered softly.
"I-I'm scared of the lighting…" He said lowly in a muffled tone as he hid his light green eyes from the flashes of the lighting outside.
"Shh…It's all right Shippou…" The young woman, known as Kagome said caringly as she placed her hand on the small boy's head comfortingly. "It's only a storm…Nothing more." Kagome said lowly and hugged the fox demon lightly.
"I know…B-But it scares me…" He whimpered lowly as he hugged her back lightly. His messy, orange brown hair messy from just waking.
"It's all right…" Kagome said and sighed lowly, so Shippou could not hear her and she turned her gaze back to the small opening, her eyes showing longing to leave the room.
A few minutes passed and the lighting and the wind still flashed and blew outside but the small kit had fallen into a deep slumber. Kagome looked down at the boy asleep in her lap and her lips formed a small smile.
A small creek echoed through the dark room, causing chills to appear all over Kagome's body. She turned slowly and stared at the door that Shippou had entered through not long ago to see a young woman with dark black hair, tied back into a ponytail with what seemed like feathers showing at the side. In addition, her eyes were cold and heartless as she stared at Kagome crouched on the floor holding the small boy. "Get up and let's go, Master Naraku wishes to see you!" She said abruptly and nodded to the door lightly.
Kagome sighed sadly, as she looked from the woman down to the small boy sleeping his her lap. "Shippou…Wake up…" She said and shook his lightly with her hand and smiled when the boy's eyes fluttered lightly to opening.
"Uh, huh?" Shippou asked sleepily as he used his small hand to rub his eye lightly and then his small green eyes looked at the woman and narrowed. "Oh, Kagome you shouldn't go see him again…He'll only hurt you." He said in utter worry as he tugged on her kimono sleeve lightly.
"I will be fine Shippou. You just stay here and be good…All right." Kagome said with a kindhearted smile and stood, once the kit had moved from her lap and she slowly made her way over to the door and walked out, but took one last glance back at Shippou and gave him a lonely smile.
"Move it!" The woman said and shoved Kagome a little and then she turned and shut the door before the kit could run after Kagome.
Kagome walked, her heart beating slightly faster as she neared a large wooden door. She sighed, she knew what was behind that door. A monster of unbelievable power. One she had tried countless times to escape but never could do so.
The woman opened the door and nodded for Kagome to enter then she turned and looked at a what seemed like a man sitting near an open window watching the horrible weather outside. His face pale and his dark eyes showing nothing but evil and malaise as he slowly turned his gaze to Kagome and then the woman behind her. "Leave us Kagura…" He said lowly, the woman nodded slowly and turned, and, she shut the door quietly.
"You wished to see me?" Kagome asked, keeping her gaze down away from the man's view.
"Come, sit Kagome." The man said, his long black hair tied back partly. He moved some and nodded to a pillow across from him on the floor.
She only nodded and walked over and sat down on her legs lightly and placed her hands lightly in her lap as she had done a many of times. She took in a deep breath then sighed. Why does he keep me…I wish I could have a savior…But yet, that only happens in fairy tales…She thought sadly and then she was shaken from her thought by the touch of a hand on her cheek and she rose her gaze to stare Naraku directly in the eyes.
"Why do you keep hiding and refuse to do as you are told…I hate having to hide you away. But since you disobey me countless times it is my only resort." He said and looked at her delicate face and then he licked his lips and leaned over closer to her and he felt her tense at his closeness.
An evil smirk crept across his lips as he watched her closely. "Are you afraid of me?" He asked and smirked, as he knew the answer already, without her answering. "Go back to your room…And clean yourself up." He said and pushed a little almost causing her to fall off balance. "I will give you to someone who will break your spirit." He said and with that he turned to the window again, his back toward Kagome.
Kagome sighed sadly, stood, and bowed lightly to Naraku. I wonder where I will be sent now…After my mother's death. I was sent here…So where will the next horrible place be? She thought sadly, as she walked back to the dark room she had learnt to call home.
She smiled when she was greeted by the small head of Shippou peering out the door to her room and he kneeled down and the small boy ran to her, jumped up into her arm, embraced her lightly, and smiled. "Did you miss me, Shippou?" She asked as she pulled him back and looked at him kindly.
"Of course Kagome…" Shippou said and laughed a little as she tickled his stomach softly. He sighed once she had stopped and he leaned his head over against her shoulder and closed his eyes and a small yawn came from him.
Kagome looked down and smiled softly. "Are you sleepy, Shippou?" She asked in a motherly tone as she held him in her arms comfortingly.
"Uh huh…" He said sleepily, he grasped her kimono lightly with his tiny hands, and in a matter of minutes, he was calmed into a soft sleep. His little foxtail swishing lightly over Kagome's arm.
Kagome smiled and then she sighed as she walked back over to her usual spot she sat and leaned down to a sit and leaned her side against the cold wooden wall and stared out at the forest surrounding the mansion once more. I don't know what awaits me at the next home I'll be sent too…But I hope I can bring him along with me…It just wouldn't be the same without you Shippou. She thought and hugged the boy a little tighter as she herself drifted to sleep with the sound of the last few raindrops hitting the dirt ground and the bird's chirps echoing into the room, causing a pleasant sound. This was hard to hear, in this dark, ominous place of death and dread.
Author's Note: Okay. Ha-ha. This is my first shot at a Inu Yasha fan fiction. So I would be greatful if you would review it and tell me how I did. And if anyone has, any requests for pairing fanfictions between any characters just tell me the anime and the characters and I'll see if I can come up with a plan for the pairing.
