Kagome stormed into the village, her hands clinched tightly into fists. Without motioning to greet Sango, Miroku, or Shippo, she simply stomped past them into Lady Kaede's hut, throwing her heavy yellow bad on the ground as she plopped her angry body on the floor. Lady Kaede looked up from the stew she hovered over and studied Kagome's rage-filled face. Kagome bit her bottom lip as she scowled at the floor, if looks could kill the floor would be in flames. "My child, what troubles ye?" Lady Kaede asked, the answer being what drove her from the hut to begin with. Kagome shook her head and growled slightly. "I see. I am glad ye decided to return so soon." Lady Kaede went on, attempting to change the subject; Kagome clearly didn't want to speak of Inuyasha, no need to force it.

"Kagome?" Sango called questioningly as she popped her head into the small hut. Miroku and Shippo followed closely behind, wishing to know what was going on with Kagome.

"Yes, Sango?" Kagome replied still looking upset.

"Hmmm, we were just wondering... well, what's going on? You don't have to tell us anything you don't want to, but we're your friends Kagome. We only want to help you." Sango said sitting down next to Kagome. Shippo stealthfully sat next to Kagome's bag and began sifting through the contents, while Miroku just watched silently from a distance.

"I know Sango. I am sorry for running off earlier, I just couldn't stand Inuyasha screaming at me instead of listening." Kagome said, trying to force a smile at her friend. Sango placed a hand on Kagome's shoulder as if to say no apology is necessary.

"Have you seen Inuyasha yet? We left him by the well to wait for you." Miroku asked. Kagome didn't need to speak for them to learn the answer, her face immediately twisted up in fury again. "So he didn't get a hold of his temper after all." Miroku went on, Kagome shook her head to affirm his suspicion.

"You know Kagome, I don't want to sound like I am supporting his actions, but all Inuyasha wants to do is protect you. He doesn't mean to cause you pain, his personality is just harsh and sharp. You know he would die for you though, don't you." Sango tried to bring Kagome out of her anger. Kagome shoot a wide-eyed look at her as if she were shocked by something Sango had said.

"You think I don't know how Inuyasha is?" She rhetorically asked in a quiet tone. "I know better than anyone else how he is, he just shouldn't be that way is all!" She added, yelling at the end. Sango and Shippo flinched at Kagome's scream. Lady Kaede stepped in and offered everyone some fresh stew.

"Now child ye can no sooner stop the sun from setting and the moon from rising than change the temperament of Inuyasha. It is pointless to try. Ye must try to accept him for who he is, that is the only way to get along." Lady Kaede said motherly.

"Yeah, Kagome, did you hear that? Why don't you just accept me for who am! You know maybe it's just something you have in common with Kikyo. She couldn't accept me for who I am; she wanted me to become a human. Now what is it you want me to become? docile! Do you want me to put aside my sword and let anyone who gets the urge take you from me! I don't think so, I'd rather die!" Inuyasha snapped at the entrance of the hut, before storming off. Kagome's eyes began to fill with tears as she buried her face in her hands.

"Oh my he must have been listening there the whole time." Shippo said, pointing out the obvious. His face covered in remains of chocolate from Kagome's bag.

"Gods, he thinks that I don't care for him for who he is?" Kagome whimpered in-between sobs. Sango threw her arms around Kagome to console her.

"Kagome, stop those tears!" Lady Kaede ordered in a stern tone. "Now from what you were raging on about earlier one could easily assume that ye did want him to change. However, I know your words were spoken in the heat of the moment, but he does not. You must dry your eyes and tell him. He will fight back with tough words but ye must be strong and not let his words hurt you." Kaede demanded. Kagome's bottom lip quivered slightly as she whipped her tears away with the white cotton sleeve of her blouse. Sango nudged Kagome's face gently with her hand so she could look her in the face.

"Kagome, just remember that he does love you. No matter what comes out of his mouth. I'm sure you've herd the saying 'actions speak louder than words' so he must have screamed that he loves you just about everywhere in Japan." Sango spoke slowly holding Kagome's eyes with her own so that Kagome would now the seriousness of her mind. Sango's little speech gave Kagome a bit of courage, at least enough to force her to her feet, but could it get her out the door? She walked slowly to the entrance of the hut, stopping momentarily to look back at her friends, 'If you all think he loves me, then the feeling I've had in the pit of my stomach since we first met has to mean something... I just hope I can learn to let his words pass through me without leaving a scar.' Kagome thought as she skipped the steps and jumped to the ground. Kagome had to patch things up; she couldn't let things rest until Inuyasha knew that she was nothing like Kikyo.

Kagome walked through the forest, searching for Inuyasha; she halted her steps as she felt eyes watching her closely. "Inuyasha?" she called out, yet their was no answer. "Gods, you stupid girl! Don't let your fear get the best of you, now let's just find Inuyasha, make up, then get back the Kaede's." she said to her self out loud. She continued her search, quickening her pace; only a few yards from where she stopped she felt something fly over her head. Kagome spun around quickly to face any possible adversary, wishing she had picked up her bow before leaving the hut. Her eyes searched the ground, the trees, and they sky, but she found nothing. "I am going nuts!" she said exasperated.

"You said it!" Inuyasha growled behind her back, Kagome screamed and jumped up into the air, her feet flying at from under her. Inuyasha caught her around her waist with one hand and spun her around to face him.

"Inuyasha! You scared me!" she yelled, thrusting her fists into his chest.

"Hey, hey, you should be thanking me, not trying to beat me up. I caught you before you fell." He snapped blocking her attacks. Kagome pushed herself away and strained her school uniform.

"Yeah, well thanks. But you shouldn't sneak up on people like that. Now how long have you been stalking me?"

"I haven't been stalking you. I just saw you a second ago and thought I'd come over and tell you to get your ass back over to Kaede's, it's not safe out at night. And look you don't even have your bow and arrows on you. You are just helpless."

"You weren't following me?" She gasped.

"Yeah, didn't you hear me? I swear Kagome are going deaf? Wait, did you feel something following you?"

Kagome nodded as she began to feel the presents again.

"Damn, I can't believe I didn't catch the scent before! SESSHOMARU! COME OUT AND LET'S GET THIS OVER WITH!" Inuyasha yelled, provoking his older brother to come out and face him.

Sesshomaru smirked inwardly as he stepped out of the shadows gracefully, "Your senses are becoming dull, brother." He said in a calm yet condescending voice. Inuyasha gripped the Tetsusaiga and unsheathed it in one quick fluid motion. The heirloom transformed into the massive weapon envied by many in a burst of light. Sesshomaru in turn drew Tokijin, the only weapon capable of rivaling the Tetsusaiga, and took a stance that provoked Inuyasha to lunge towards his half brother.

Kagome stood in shook; while she had scene Inuyasha take Sesshomaru on many times before, this time was different. Her heart sank to the depths of her stomach as the events began to slow down. She clinched her fists tightly shut, wishing that there were something she could do to prevent the confrontation. Sesshomaru came for her, and Inuyasha would give his life to protect her--this was her fault. Before Inuyasha struck Sesshomaru's blade Kagome reached out both of her arms and screamed, "STOP THIS!" pushing out all of the miko powers that lie virtually dormant in her for so long. A violet light flew out of the palms of her hands and surrounded Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, petrifying their bodies.

Kagome blinked several times before moving an inch, 'What the hell did I just do?' she thought her heart pounding in her ears. Gradually she brought her hands up to her face to examine her palms, 'Did all of that energy just come out of me?' she wondered as footsteps running towards her caught her attention, she turned her head.

Miroku, Sango and Shippo ran up the hill with Lady Kaede following a ways behind, they started off to find Kagome after hearing her scream. "Kagome, what is going on?" Shippo asked, gasping for breath at the end of his question.

"Are you hurt?" Miroku asked before Kagome could answer Shippo's question. "Where is Inu...Gods, is that..." Miroku could not finish his line of questions, his eyes fixed on the statue-like pair of brothers, frozen in battle stance. Lady Kaede slowly made her way to join the others refusing to take Miroku's aid as she walked closer to Inuyasha and Sesshomaru.

"I see ye miko powers are starting to awaken. This is quite extraordinary Kagome. I do not think that even Kikyo could have done something like this." Lady Kaede said as she looked over Kagome's work. She turned her head to the young miko, and smiled. "Very good. Now, we must think of a way to remove Inuyasha from this situation before Sesshomaru breaks through the spell."

"You mean, they won't just stay that way until I..." Kagome tapered off, she was under the assumption that only some special words from her could undo it.

"No child. Such a thing as this wears off with time; Sesshomaru will over come it faster than Inuyasha though. Now let us take Inuyasha and Kagome far from here." Lady Kaede directed. Both Miroku and Sango carried Inuyasha's body down the hill back to the village, while Kagome lingered behind with Lady Kaede.

"Kaede, will I be able to do this again?" Kagome asked staring into Sesshomaru's handsome face, she found herself wanting desperately to stroke his cheek, but pushed her urge deep down, swallowing hard.

"I am certain you will. But this was not purposeful; it will take time to control your powers. Until then ye will only be able to use them when ye heart orders it so."
