She'd do anything to sparkle in his eye.

She would suffer, she would fight, and compromise.

Kagome ran through the forest, tears flowing freely down her pink cheeks. The young miko stopped abruptly and took in her surroundings, she sniffled and brushed her hands across her face attempting to rid herself of the tears as she tried to decipher where exactly she was. After Inuyasha ran off she called out to him to return to her with no answer, sadness gave into anger and she simply set off running, giving no care what direction or where she was going.

"This is just great! I mean this so perfect!" the exasperated Kagome said to herself, "First he just says IT out of nowhere in the middle of a fight, no less, then he just runs off. And where the hell did he go anyway? Leaving me there like that! It better not have been to go see that stupid clay pot from hell!" Kagome continued to rant as she clinched her fists tighter and tighter, completely unaware of the figure watching her.

Kagome threw her head back and screamed into the darkness relieving her rage somewhat then mumbled to herself, "I bet Sesshomaru wouldn't have done this to me." Kagome's eyes widened, her face turning bright red, she quickly gasped and covered her mouth with both of her hands; it was as if the young woman was trying to capture the words she already released. She breathed in deeply, settling her emotional state. Slowly she dropped her hands back down to her sides and closed her eyes, "I didn't mean that...it was just me expressing my anger creatively. Yes, that's it...I only said that because if Inuyasha had heard it he would go ballistic." Kagome nodded to herself, pretending to accept her own explanation for her `slip.'

"Or is it because you are starting to understand what I explained to you in the cave." A chilling deep voice said from behind the miko. Kagome jumped and turned around in mid air, her eyes fill of shock and surprise as they stared transfixed by the spellbinding beauty of the Lord of the Western Lands. Her mouth gapping open, she couldn't find any words to say to him, her mind racing, wondering how much he had heard. The aristocratic assassin raised an eyebrow as he looked over Kagome before he reached down and lifted her chin up, closing her mouth, "I couldn't help but over hear your thoughts, you were expressing them so...publicly." he said mockingly.

Kagome shook her head, shaking herself free off her captivated state, "Well I sure wasn't talking to you, so I hope you won't mind leaving me alone and quit eavesdropping!" A sudden sense of courage surging through her words.

"I cannot do that." his words were short and cold.

"And why not? I don't go traipsing about walking in on you and interrupt you!" she snapped.

"These woods are quite dangerous and from what I understand there has already been an attempt and a threats made against your life. I will have you follow me back to my camp." he ordered before turning around begin his trek back to camp.

"You know, I am not yours to command! You can't just order me to follow you wherever you like, and even if I did, what make you think I'd stay?"

"You will follow me or I will carry you! As for staying that will be your choice when the sun rises."

Kagome glared at his back which receded deeper in the forest as she contemplated her choice; however, before her mind was made she noticed Sesshomaru was no longer in sight, she looked around hastily until she felt a hand slip around her waist and lift her up. She closed her eyes tightly feeling the wind of the night sky crash against her hot face. Slowly she opened one eye to take in the sight of the sky and the aerial view of the forest, "You took to much time deliberating your response." Sesshomaru whispered in her ear.

Inuyasha stopped his pursuit of Kikyo and inhaled deeply catching the scent of his elder half-brother. Turning around to go back to Kagome he stopped as a soul collector caught his eye, he pivoted his stance again coming face to face with his undead soulmate. Kikyo stared at him coldly, a single tear slipping down her left cheek. Inuyasha slowly reached out to wipe it away, but Kikyo flinched away quickly out of his reach. Her gaze shifted to hatred as she began to speak, "So, Inuyasha, you love her...my reincarnation." Her words twisted his stomach, the last thing Inuyasha wanted was to hurt Kikyo in anyway; however, he realized that he was failed her once again.

"I..." Inuyasha began to explain, yet was quickly cut off by Kikyo's silencing fingers touching his lips, her touch was like ice.

"You don't have to explain, it all has slowly grown clear to me. You only love her because she carries my soul, she carries my live essence. You only want what we were robbed of fifty years ago...But what if I told you that we could have what we were denied, you could have me...not a copy, but me." Inuyasha's eyes widened, the thought of being with his first love was incredibly tempting, yet even he was aware that such a thing would come with a heavy price, a price that he knew he would be unwilling to pay.

"I think something is wrong." Shippo sighed as he poked the crackling fire with a stick. "They should have been back by now. Come one you guys, we should go look for them." Shippo dropped the stick and tugged on Miroku's purple and black monk robes pleadingly.

"Now Shippo, you are too young to understand this, but when a young man expresses his feelings to a young woman, a physical expression can occur and such things take time. They will come back when they are ready." Miroku said with a sly grin stretched across his face. Sango rolled her eyes at the perverted monk and folded her arms. Miroku glanced over at the annoyed demon exterminator, "I'm sorry Sango, do you have a different opinion on the matter? Should we go see what is taking Kagome and Inuyasha so long?" Sango leaned over, her face merely inches away from the wishful lech, she smiled as she slapped his face a pink impression of her hand quickly forming across his face.

Shippo only sighed as he plopped down next to Sango's side, he was convinced that he would never understand these silly adults, "I still think something is wrong." the kitsune whispered.
