Author's Note: I would like to introduce my first piece of fiction on this website! Well, I have been reading plenty of fics in the duration that I have known about this site and well, I kind of got jealous and wanted to write one myself! Previously, I have written in Fanfiction.Net, but that website has too much crap going on with it. So, I've decided that this will be the site of my fics from now on. Well, please read and enjoy.

Cessation of Hostility

ch. 1- Thoughts of a Young Mind

It had been many years until this day...

Everyday it was the same...

Would it ever change?

She laid in the field of saffron as the wind breezed by mildly, allowing the petals to caress her pale face. In the years that have passed, she had grown into someone unlike her younger self. She was more elegant, graceful, and more beautiful than anyone can ever imagine. If her parents were alive to see her now...what would they think? Would they be happy with how she turned out? A young girl such as her, traveling and getting into dangerous situations with a youkai lord and a grotesque lizard demon. No, her mother would faint! Still, she had been contented in her younger years, running around, irritating Jaken, wandering off unconcerned with her ominous surroundings, laughing and beaming constantly...but then, she grew up.

It was not her choice to mature; she simply had to in order to continue traveling with someone like the silver-haired youkai whom she traveled with. Her time spent with the beautiful, silent, but brutish demon was enough to show her discipline but without emotion. His life was a mystery to her due to his reticence and nonchalance. She knew some of his family, such as his brother, Inuyasha, who had not been reluctant, like Sesshoumaru, to reveal his feelings. This show of impassive behavior caused her to become agonizingly inconspicuous as well.

Somehow, she remained with him as if some unwritten law that bound them together, forever...

"Sesshoumaru-sama! I do not mean to disturb you with such insignificant news but--" Jaken began.

"Then why are you still here?" Sesshoumaru asked, looking towards the horizon, his facial expressions unperturbed.

"Be-because...it concerns Rin...my lord," Jaken stuttered.

Sesshoumaru turned to him. "Rin has not gone missing again has she?"

"N-n-no Sesshoumaru-sama...she was just crying earlier because...there...seemed to be...ummm..."

"Jaken, say what it is you came here for," Sesshoumaru said impatiently.

"Rin was crying because...she said she was---uh...she was bleeding...in a specific...ehrm...area," Jaken concluded, with a grainy swallow. He saw a quick flash of concern in Sesshoumaru's eyes, but in a second, they disappeared, causing Jaken to believe he imagined it.

The thought Sesshoumaru had at the moment was why Rin had gotten it so late. Still, now he had to worry about how to deal with her changing scent.

Rin crawled to the brim of the stream, soiling her kimono. She examined her reflection in the glassy liquid. Her hand fell to her dark locks on her head. She gently stroked it, humming a lullaby she remembered from many years ago...perhaps it was her mother or father...a sibling who sung it? She could not recall. She simply sighed then looked back down at her reflection.

Does Sesshoumaru-sama ever think of me? She wondered.

She wished she was more attractive to make him glance at her even once. Is there something wrong with me? She asked herself. She removed her kimono and other garments sheathing her body and cautiously dipped her toe into the stream. A shiver ran down her spine. Cold...but it will do. She was already used to water more frigid than this. She casually submerged her body into the stream, closing her eyes as she felt the cold rush through her body.

Is it my body? She asked. She wrapped her arms around her body and ran her hands down her arms. Is it my skin? Does he not like human skin? She brushed her fingers against her breasts. Maybe he does not like my breasts, Rin thought. She looked down at the rest of her body. Maybe it's my legs...are they too short? Heedlessly, she touched her hair once more and smiled. At least he adored her hair. When a descendant of Yura had tried to seize her ebony tresses, he destroyed her with Toukijin.

Rin had said, "You didn't have to risk your life for me...for my hair. She could've had it."

"She would have taken more than just your hair Rin. But even though, I do not wish you to hew it. It would be...such a waste..." Sesshoumaru had replied, taking a handful of her hair and gingerly running his fingers through it.

"Sesshoumaru-sama..."

Those were the only words that escaped his lips that even merely sounded like a compliment. But even those small words she cherished unconditionally.

"If only he knew what my feelings were..." she whispered to herself before her eyes willfully shut and she fell into the pacific darkness of sleep.

Notes:

Yura of Hair- If you are not familiar, or forgot...or somewhere in between those two, Yura was the female demon who wanted Inuyasha's hair. She wanted to slay Inuyasha and add his hair to her collection. I thought she was pretty gruesome. But anyways, her power was basically using hair to slice her victims or use them as puppets.

A/N: For a first chapter to a first fic, how do you think I did? Well...if you want, praise me, critique me, instigate me with deadly threats via e-mail, plead me to stop, burn my fingers, etc., etc., but please don't forget to leave a review! Thanks everyone.
