Cessation of Hostility

ch. 2 - Rin's Departure

A clawed finger gently caressed her thigh, lingering at the base of her womanhood, taunting her.

"Sesshoumaru-sama..." His silver locks fell to her face, grazing it tenderly as he leaned forward to kiss her mouth. Her eyes idly shut when she felt his mouth on hers, moving in a relaxed rhythm and the warmth of his tongue lightly push at her lips, asking for permission to enter. She unconciously opened her mouth, welcoming it. He pressed at her mouth, deepening the kiss. A soft moan escaped her lips...

He lifted his mouth off of hers and insinuatingly sank his fangs into the nape of her slender neck, distracting her to no end as his finger slipped between her nether lips, causing her thighs to part.

She gasped as he probed her damp flesh---

"RIN! Rin, we must take leave!!!" came an amicable, yet parental, agitation.

Rin quickly awoke and shook her head angrily. How awful to dream in such a way! And enjoy it as well...Rin thought. But...why did the area between her legs feel so...strange? No...no! You wil never think of this again! She scolded herself. But as she left the stream, quickly snatching her garments and slovenly slipping them on, she was blushing furiously.

"Haaaiii, Jaken-sama!" Rin responded, squeezing the water out of her hair before she went to meet Jaken.

Jaken muttered inaudibly as he waited for Rin to come. When she walked out of the deep shrubbery, he examined the once, immature juvenile. He had to admit that this ningen child, though not of his species, was exquisite. From her long raven tresses that flowed just below those voluptuous hips to her small face with those large brown eyes.

Brown eyes that showed an abysmal secret. She was sad all right; he had noticed this since its beginning. He could still see the hidden child in Rin, but it was gradually disappearing in her eyes...now there was mostly doubt...detachment...

Is this Sesshoumaru-sama's doing? But...why is she so distant?

Rin walked up to him. "Where is Sesshoumaru-sama?" she asked.

"Well...Rin...."

He simply refused to speak with her. She knew that even Jaken had an idea as to why Sesshoumaru was avoiding her. She furrowed her brow and walked away, frustrated.

"Rin! No...Rin do not be a stubborn child! Come back here at once! Rin!!!" Jaken cried out inarticulately.

Sesshoumaru knew he had to remain a certain distance away from Rin. How could he have such intense desires for a ningen child? Why was his body so responsive to her scent? With other females, he did not seem to be hindered by the changes in their bodies at all. But Rin...

If Inuyasha heard of this, his exasperation towards him would be ceaseless. His rude...taunting...voice teasing him of the intense feelings.

Thinking of his irritable hanyou half-brother even brought his scent back...but unfortunately, it wasn't just that.

"Oiy...Sesshoumaru," Sesshoumaru heard the familiar voice.

"Inuyasha, what is it that you want?" Sesshoumaru replied, annoyed as usual.

"That little girl of yours seems to be um...really grown up now, don't ya think?" Inuyasha smirked, walking towards his brother. Sesshoumaru could hear the beginnings of utter torment.

"Silence Inuyasha. You have no idea what you are sayng. I do not involve myself with humans."

Inuyasha bared a fang as he smiled. "Then why do you keep bringing her around with you?"

Rin continued to trod down into the forest. One day she would scream at him, throw bland insults at how cold-hearted and wretched he was! That Sesshoumaru...

She suddenly paused when she heard voices. She quickly concealed herself behind a large tree. It looked like...Sesshoumaru-sama and...his brother Inuyasha. She heard that he had fallen in love with the girl she had met in the past...Kagome was it? Yes... Then maybe...Sesshoumaru-sama could...

I wonder what they're talking about...Rin contemplated.

As she carefully listened to their conversation, she heard the seven words that relinquished all hope.

"I do not involve myself with humans."

Then...never?

She felt warm dampness falling from her eyes. She touched her face.

"Why am I crying?" she asked herself. A voice inside her replied. It's obvious...you love him. You've always loved him.

But he loathed her existence. She felt like all these years...she had just burdened him.

What shall I do then? Leave? Yes, that way I wil no longer be a burden, she assured herself, but...each time she said the word "burden" it made her wince. She quickly departed.

Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha looked towards the trees. They detected a sweet scent of a human girl fleeing. Sesshoumaru growled. Why wasn't Jaken watching over her? he thought, enraged.

Inuyasha turned back to his brother. "Well?"

Sesshoumaru looked back at him, irritated as always.

"Well, aren't you gonna go after her?" Sesshoumaru's expression was indifferent. Inuyasha sighed then continued. "You know...it's not that bad living with a human. For one, she could make you quit being an asshole to everyone." The hanyou seemed bothered. His brother simply continued to look at him with an emotionless expression.

"I do not need your advice on how to handle humans."

"Fine, have it your way," Inuyasha sighed and left.

"RIN! RIIIIN!! Oh no, Sesshoumaru-sama will never forgive me for losing Rin. Rin! You foolish child come out!! I've no time to play games with you!" Jaken cried out, frantically. He felt a strong hand, grip the back of his outer hizakake. He froze.

"Why are you not watching Rin?" the icy voice asked.

"Well you see...." Jaken began.

Sesshoumaru dropped Jaken. He inhaled the evening breeze.

"Sesshoumaru-sama!! Gomen nasai!! GOMEN NASAI!! I've lost Rin!!! This is my fault! Castigate me Sesshoumaru-sama!! I do not deserve to be your servant!!! Gomen nasai...."Jaken sobbed, falling to Sesshoumaru's feet.

The youkai lord ignored him. She thinks she can just leave...

Rin had gathered her belongings, clothes that Jaken-sama had provided for her, slippers she had produced herself, and some jewelry she would be able to trade later.

The night sky was as placid and eerie as ever before, but she had always been at ease because of Jaken, Ah-Un...and Sesshoumaru. This darkness hadn't frightened her before. Now she was at the mercy of any mischeivious oni or malignant akuma that could be after young, human flesh. Maybe it was best to leave. Being with them only made her ignorant and naive.

She looked up ahead. In a short distance, sheltered by towering, lanky trees, was a temple.

Notes:

ningen (I don't know if I put this on the first chapter so I'll add it here) - human or mortal...same difference. You probably know this one because they say it all the time in the anime.

hizakake - robe

akuma - demon or evil spirit

A/N: Well, another chapter finished. I hope it wasn't tedious....
