Soon Inuyasha returns to his normal self. When He and Kagome release each other they both resemble tomatoes. Suddenly Inuyasha hears someone speaking in the demonic language,

 

“So I see you are hear mutt face.” Kagome spins to find Kouga standing there. Inuyasha glared at the wolf.

 

'Great. We just got rid of one person who wants Kagome and here comes another one.' He shot an annoyed growl at the full demon.

 

*We can take him. Just let him try something funny, I dare him.*

 

“Shut up wolf” He responds in the same language. Feeling the tension between them Kagome tied to ease it by asking,

 

“What are you doing here Kouga?”

 

A female voice floated up the stairs,

 

“Start talking so everyone can understand Kouga. You are being rude.” And Ayame could be seen climbing the up the steps. Kagome called out her name as she ran to great her. The rest of Kagome's family stood there watching and Mrs H. decide to speak up, in her usual calm manner.

 

“Why don't we continue this inside?”

 

Once inside they all sat in the living room while Inuyasha and Kagome explained. Well Kagome explained and Inuyasha interjected with the sounds he usually makes.

 

“This is Kouga and Ayame, they are wolf demons. Kouga is after Naraku as well because he killed some of his comrades.” Though she left out the fact that Kouga kidnapped her and calls her his woman so that her Grandfather won't try to purify him. A confused Souta piped up,

 

“How can you be here when you live back then?” Kouga chuckled and told him,

 

“As demons we live for a very, very long time.”

Ayame leaned over to Kagome and said don't worry about him bugging you anymore. We're mated now, with three cubs.”

 

“That's wonderful! I'm so happy for you.” Kagome gushed. Inuyasha had been tense since the wolf demons had arrived also heard the news and relaxed a little bit. Kouga caught his gaze and they nodded to each other in acknowledgment of a new truce.

 

“Can I talk to you outside? Alone.” Inuyasha's request startled everyone, especially since it was directed at Kouga. He inclined his head and they left. Kagome watched them leave slightly worried because Inuyasha had been acting strange all day, and she didn't want them to start fighting in her backyard.

 

”I'm sure you have questions. Why not ask me?” Ayame's question accomplished her intended purpose of drawing Kagome's attention away from the boys.

 

“I don't know. We don't want to change things.”

 

“Come on, one question can't hurt.”

 

“Okay, one question.” As much as Kagome wanted to know about their quest she thought it might be better not to know, after all if Kouga and Ayame where there the world wasn't destroyed so she could wait to find out.

 

”Do Inuyasha and Sesshomaru come to a truce?” It seemed like a good question with an interesting answer. Ayame grinned and told her,

 

”Yeah they have a truce.” Kagome smiled because she really wanted Inuyasha to get to know his elder brother.

“So what ya want to talk about?” Kouga asked when they reached the Sacred Tree. Inuyasha leaned against the tree and stared upwards to avoid the wolf demon's gaze. He knew that he needed answers and that Kouga was the only one around to get them from so he had to ask.

 

”My demon side has been active and it has claimed someone. Is it dangerous to be around that person if they don't know how I feel?” Because Kouga is now several hundred years older he is more mature and can tell how hard it is for Inuyasha to ask him about this so decides to be nice to him for a change.

 

”Well, it can be if you leave it for too long so you should tell her soon.” Kouga turns to go back inside, pauses and turns back to the hanyou, ”I swear if you hurt her dog-breath you will regret it.” Inuyasha stays outside and contemplates what he learned.

 

Later Kagome comes out and finds him still standing near the tree thinking.

 

”Hey, dinner is ready. Mama invited Kouga and Ayame but they had to go.” Kagome giggled ”Something about rescuing Ginta and Hakaku from their kids.” When Kagome reached Inuyasha she put a hand on his shoulder and looked at him. ”Are you alright after today?” Inuyasha looked at her surprised,

 

”I should be asking you that.”

 

“Oh I'm fine. Come on lets go eat.” Inuyasha could tell that it was only partially true. She was glad she no longer had to lead two lives and wouldn't have anymore unwanted advances; but on the other hand her so-called friends, even Hojo, had shunned her and it hurt. He vowed that he would try to be nicer to her and that he would finally tell her his feelings, eventually when he gathered his courage.
