Changing the past ch3

 

 

 

Sesshomaru sighed. “I have made many mistakes in my long life but, if you have the chance to atone for some of it by helping your brother then you would take it. I have been waiting, thinking, plotting for over 450 years how the past could be changed for the better and this is what I've come up with.”

 

“How would turning me into a hanyou make thing any better? Wh…Why is Inuyasha not alive?” Kagome was to the brink of tears.

 

Michiko sat there silently while her father told the sad and terrible truth about his past.

 

“Approximately a few months from now in the past, the last battle was fought, I was not there, for Naraku ambushed your pack, otherwise I would have seen to it that this Sesshomaru strike the final blow, or so I thought in my arrogant youth.”

His eyes seemed to be clouded over, remembering things he'd rather forget.

“I was told it was a long, hard battle. In the end Naraku was defeated but not before there were casualties….. The boy, Kohaku was killed, the shard ripped out of his back.”

Kagome was starting to go into tears.

“The kitsune kit died trying to block the blow that eventually killed………..you.”

 

Kagome was crying but, hoping that this would be the end of the story, but it wasn't, it was far from the terrible, grisly end.

 

Sesshomaru continued. “Inuyasha held you while you were dieing, He cried telling you he'd do anything as long as you stayed with him. Your dying words were `I love you'. He was devastated; he made a sound that was heard even by me, miles away. It was a howl of an Inu-Youkai losing it's mate, even though you weren't true mates his youkai had thought of you as his. Afterwards I started heading towards your village. Inuyasha would not eat, sleep, nor bathe he just sat in the Goshinboku. It seemed he did not care anymore. He wanted death. I do not know what transpired before I got there, all I know is that he came to the village as a full-youkai and….. slaughtered near all the villagers, the monk, the slayer and the elderly miko were among them. They died protecting the village. When I got there, there was blood and gore everywhere. The stench was almost intolerable. I found Inuyasha a short distance from the village he was severely wounded. He was still full-youkai when I found him. I knew that if he ever woke up from being full-youkai, he would never forgive himself so to prevent further killing and anguish I……. Killed him, quick and painlessly.

 

By this time Kagome was sobbing, how could something so horrible happen to all her friends?

Kagome looked up at Sesshomaru, tears stained her face. “If I turned into a hanyou this would change my future, your past?”

“There is a great probability” Sesshomaru stated. “If you were hanyou, you would most probably survive the blow Naraku dealt and forgo the whole situation.” `And maybe Inuyasha will overcome his stubbornness and they will become mates, making them even stronger.'

 

Kagome's eyes were red and puffy. She stood up and declared, “I'll do it!”

 

Michiko smiled and patted Kagome on the back. “Alright, let's get to it”
