Chapter 24

Telling Mom

Inuyasha jumped from on top of the house next door to him and landed at his doorstep. He unlocked his front door and walked to his room. Rin was in the living room and wanted to get up to see what was wrong. Sesshomaru grabbed her arm and shook his head. She just sat back down.

He set Kagome down on his bed and walked into his bathroom. He grabbed some bandages and a wet rag. He walked back into his room and sat on the bed. "Let me see your arm." He said.

Kagome held out her arm. She winced when he cleaned her cut with the cloth. He cleaned all the blood off and wrapped it. Then he did the same with the other arm. "Does it still hurt?" Inuyasha asked.

"Only a little." Kagome said.

"Gomen." Inuyasha whispered. He nuzzled her neck.

"It's not your fault." Kagome said. They were interrupted by a knock at the door.

Rin poked her head in. "Is everything all right?" She asked.

"What the hell are you doing here? You're supposed to be at school." Inuyasha said.

"On the way to school I decided to just skip." Rin said. She saw the bandages on Kagome's arms. "What happened?"

"She got hurt by someone." Inuyasha said.

"I'm fine Rin." Kagome smiled.

"Can I get you anything? I can make some food and bring some medicine for the pain." Rin said.

"It's ok. I'm not very hungry." Kagome said.

"Well, let me know if you need anything." Rin said. She saw Kagome nod and she left.

"I think I should tell my mom." Kagome said.

That's what Inuyasha feared. He was not looking forward to it. He could see it now. `Hey Ms. Higurashi, I mated with your daughter and she was attacked by one of the guys that likes her a lot.' He could imagine her trying to rip his ears off or something.

"Don't worry, she's very understanding." Kagome said as if reading his mind.

"I hope so." Inuyasha said. They got up and headed towards the car.

"Where are you going?" Rin asked.

"To Kagome's house. Her mom needs to know what happened." Inuyasha said.

"I hope you feel better Kagome." Rin said.

"Arigato Rin." Kagome smiled. They walked out to the car.

"Do you think she'll be all right?" Rin asked Sesshomaru.

"They'll be fine." Sesshomaru said.

"But, from what I heard, Kagome has a lot of guys that like her." Rin said. "What if it something else happens?"

"They'll be fine. Inuyasha will do something about it." Sesshomaru said.

"If you say so." Rin said. "My mom is going to be so mad at me."

"Who cares?" Sesshomaru said.

"I do. I'm the one getting in trouble for skipping school." Rin said.

"If she finds out." Sesshomaru said. He grabbed her and set her in his lap. "Don't worry about it."

Inuyasha and Kagome got out of the car. She felt a little better. Her wounds now only felt like a dull ache. They walked up the shrine stairs and stopped at the door. Kagome looked for her keys.

She unlocked the door. "Who's there?" Her mom said.

"It's Kagome." She said.

"And Inuyasha." Inuyasha said.

"Shouldn't you be at school?" Her mom asked.

"Something happened at school." Kagome said.

Her mom walked into the living room. She gasped when she saw Kagome's arms covered with bandages. "What happened?" She ran to Kagome and looked at her arm.

"I have to tell you what happened." Kagome said.

"You two sit on the couch and I'll make some tea." Kagome's mom said.

They sat on the couch. A couple minutes later her mom came in with the tea. "Here, I have some medicine for you too." Her mom said. "What happened?"

"Well, while you were gone Inuyasha and I..." Kagome started. She didn't know how to tell her mom.

"We mated." Inuyasha said.

"Mated?" Ms. Higurashi asked.

"Basically it's the youkai's way of marriage." Inuyasha said.

"Marriage. You got married and didn't invite me?" Her mom said.

"It's not something you invite people to see." Kagome blushed.

"How about you explain it then." Ms. Higurashi said.

Kagome looked at Inuyasha. He sighed. "Mating is for youkai, most youkai mate for life. Since I'm half inu-youkai, I chose Kagome as my mate. That's what this mark is." He moved Kagome's hair to show the mark.

"What does that have to do with Kagome getting hurt?" Ms. Higurashi asked.

"Some guys were mad about it." Kagome said.

"Oh, you mean Naraku and Kouga, right?" Ms. Higurashi said.

"How'd you know? I never said anything about it." Kagome said. She put her hand on Inuyasha's knee to keep him from growling.

"They called a couple of times before, while you were out." Her mom said.

"Oh. Well, Kouga's the one that hurt me." Kagome said. "The details aren't important. Inuyasha came after a while and helped me."

"I'm glad Inuyasha was there." Ms. Higurashi said.

"Me too." Kagome said.

"How about I make you some lunch for you, before I go to work?" Ms. Higurashi asked. "I don't think you'd want to go back to school."

"Arigato." Kagome said.

"You can watch TV while I go cook." Her mom said.

"Hai." Kagome said.

A half an hour later her they finished there food. "I have to get going now." Ms. Higurashi said. "Why don't you get some rest?"

"Hai." Kagome said.

"Inuyasha you can stay with her if you want." Ms. Higurashi said.

"Arigato." Inuyasha said. He grabbed Kagome's arm and dragged her to her room after her mom left.

"I can't believe I told her about youkai mating." Inuyasha said.

"I'm just glad you were able to tell her without including the sex part." Kagome said.

"Why? Did you not enjoy it?" Inuyasha smirked.

"That's not what I meant." Kagome blushed.

"I know. I just like teasing you about it." Inuyasha said.

"It's not nice, especially after what happened today." Kagome said.

"Gomen." Inuyasha said.

"It's not your fault." Kagome said. She laid down on the bed.

"Yes it is. I should've been there to stop him." Inuyasha growled. He nudged Kagome, so that he would move over. When she did he laid down next to her and wrapped his arms around her.

"It's ok. I'm fine now." Kagome said. "It barely hurts anymore."

"That doesn't make everything all better." Inuyasha said.

"You couldn't do anything about it." Kagome yawned.

"I'm not letting you out of my sight." Inuyasha said.

"You can't be around me all the time." Kagome said.

"I will." Inuyasha mumbled. "Go to sleep, you sound tired."

Inuyasha nuzzled Kagome's neck until she fell asleep. He wasn't going to let her get hurt again, not if he could help it. He kissed her neck and joined her in sleep.
