Chapter 23

Consequences

The ringing of the alarm clock could be heard. Kagome couldn't tell if it was a dream or if it was real. She was jerked out of her sleep when she heard it break. She sat up and saw the pieces on the floor.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome yelled.

"What?" Inuyasha growled. For once he was tired and the alarm clock ruined his sleep.

"You broke my alarm clock." Kagome yelled.

"So what I'll buy another one." Inuyasha said.

"You shouldn't have broken it. It was mine. How would you like it if I broke your stuff?" Kagome said.

"It depends on how you were going to pay me back for it." He smiled lecherously.

"Mou, your worse than Miroku now." Kagome groaned.

"You like it." Inuyasha said. He licked her shoulder.

"Come on we have to get ready for school." Kagome said getting up.

Inuyasha grabbed her and pulled her back into bed. "I want to hold you for a little while longer." Inuyasha said nuzzling her neck.

"You've never acted like this before. What's wrong?" Kagome asked.

"Nothing. We just don't get much time alone like this." Inuyasha said. Kagome smiled and wrapped her arms around him. It was so rare for him to get sweet like that so she was going to take advantage of it.

After a couple of minutes Kagome successfully escaped from his grasp. "I have to go. I need to go home and get dressed." Inuyasha said and kissed her. "I'll come back and pick you up."

"Bring a car or I'm driving myself." Kagome said seriously. Then she smiled. "See you soon."

Inuyasha shook his head and walked out the door. He got on his motorcycle and headed home.

He parked his motorcycle and walked in the house. "Don't you have school Rin?" Inuyasha asked as he grabbed something to eat from the kitchen. Rin and Sesshomaru were sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast.

"Sesshomaru is going to drop me off." Rin said.

"Where were you all weekend?" Sesshomaru asked.

"What do you care?" Inuyasha growled.

"I don't. I'm just curious. You were with your girlfriend I assume. Or should I say mate?" Sesshomaru said.

"You're mated now Inuyasha?" Rin asked.

"Yeah I'm mated." Inuyasha said.

"With Kagome right?" Rin said. "If not I'd have to kill you."

"Of course its Kagome." Inuyasha barked. "Who else?"

"Just wondering." Rin said. "I haven't talked to her in forever."

"Come on Rin let's go." Sesshomaru said getting up from his seat.

"Ok. Congratulations Inuyasha." Rin said. Her and Sesshomaru walked out of the house.

"I have the weirdest family." Inuyasha said. He finished his food and went upstairs to change.

Kagome was sitting on the shrine steps. She had gotten ready and was waiting for Inuyasha to pick her up. She got up when she saw his car pull up. She got in and kissed him. "You actually listened to me and brought the car." Kagome said surprised.

"I don't want to hear you yell at me about it." Inuyasha said as he drove to school.

"Baka."

"Bitch." Inuyasha smirked. Kagome crossed her arms and looked out the window.

They got to school and saw Miroku and Sango just getting out of their car. Sango looked mad and Miroku had a red mark on his face. "I see your starting early Miroku." Kagome giggled.

"It was an accident honest." Miroku said. "I was driving and tried to avoid hitting an animal on the road and my hand accidentally brushed against..."

"You don't have to finish that sentence." Sango interrupted. "Come on Kagome."

Sango grabbed Kagome's arm and they headed towards the building. "You are an idiot." Inuyasha said as he and Miroku followed the girls from a distance.

"I know. It really was an accident." Miroku said. Then he smiled mischievously. "So what's with your sudden happiness?"

"What are you talking about?" Inuyasha growled.

"The look on your face tells me that you finally got with Kagome." Miroku smiled.

"What's your point?" Inuyasha said.

"I have no point. I just wanted to know why you were so happy this morning." Miroku said.

"Feh." Inuyasha said. They got in the building and headed towards their class because the bell had rung.

Everyone waited for the bell to ring and the teacher walked in. Kouga smelled Kagome and tensed. He could smell Inuyasha all over her, and it wasn't the smell it usually was. He was hoping his nose was lying to him. He wouldn't be able to find out until later.

Naraku could also smell the hanyou all over HIS Kagome. He was able to keep himself calm. He wouldn't take any actions until he saw the mating mark. He wouldn't do anything without evidence.

The bell rang for lunch. Kagome, Inuyasha, Miroku, and Sango were about to go to their usual spot to eat when the teacher came out and called for Inuyasha. "Inuyasha I need to speak with you for a moment." He said.

"Hai Sensei." Inuyasha said. "I'll catch up with you guys soon."

They went on ahead without Inuyasha. Just as they were about to sit down Kouga walked up to them. "Kagome can I talk to you for a minute?" He asked.

"I'm talking to Sango and Miroku about something important." Kagome said. It wasn't really true. When she looked at Kouga a chill ran up her spine. She had a bad feeling about it.

"Gomen but it really can't wait." Kouga said. He grabbed Kagome around her waist and ran to the football field on the other side of the school. He didn't even give Kagome a chance to say anything.

"What the hell is going on?" Sango yelled.

"We need to get her. She and Inuyasha mated and I'm afraid Kouga found out." Miroku said. They both got up and started running in the direction Kouga took off.

"Shouldn't we get Inuyasha then? We can't do anything against a full youkai." Sango said.

"You're right. Who knows what Kouga will do when he finds out?" Miroku said. They turned around and headed for their classroom.

Inuyasha was just getting out of the classroom. The teacher asked him about his car. He saw Miroku and Sango running towards him. "Where's Kagome?" He asked.

"Kouga grabbed...her and...ran." Miroku panted.

"NANI?" Inuyasha yelled.

"He went toward...the football field." Sango managed to say.

Inuyasha took off and headed toward the football field. He exited the building and jumped on top to get a good view. As soon as he smelled Kagome's scent he saw her and Kouga at the field and took off.

After Kouga had grabbed Kagome he ran to the field where no one was. He set her down. "Kouga! Why did you do that?" Kagome yelled. "What the hell are you doing?"

Kouga was about an inch away from her chest sniffing her. He grabbed her arm and pushed her hair away from her neck. There he saw the mark. He growled. "How could you mate with that worthless hanyou?" Kouga yelled.

"He's not worthless! It's not any of your business." Kagome shouted.

"It is my business. You're MY woman." Kouga yelled. He grabbed her other arm.

"I've told you before I'm not your woman. I love Inuyasha." Kagome said. She winced when Kouga's claws dug into her arm.

"You shouldn't say that. I might get mad. I'll have to punish you for mating with the half breed." Kouga said.

"What punishment? I'm not yours!" Kagome yelled again. She was trying to ignore the pain in her arm.

"You'll be severely punished for defying me. You took another mate." Kouga said. "Youkai have punishments for disobedient mates."

"I'm not your mate!" Kagome yelled. She screamed when he raked his claws down her arms. She fell to her knees.

Inuyasha landed in front of them. "Let her go you bastard." He growled.

"Why should I? She's MY mate." Kouga growled.

"What the hell are you talking about? She's mine. Can't you see the mark and smell her scent?" Inuyasha yelled.

"I don't care. She made a mistake and I'll fix that as soon as she's punished." Kouga yelled.

"You have no right to punish her. She's not yours." Inuyasha yelled again.

"Kagome!" Sango and Miroku yelled when they reached her. They stopped behind Inuyasha. Kouga was holding Kagome and she looked like she was about to cry. Blood was dripping from her arms.

Inuyasha was pissed. He was beyond pissed. He wanted to rip Kouga apart. He was calling Kagome his and he was hurting her. He couldn't stand it anymore.

Inuyasha growled loudly and in the blink of an eye he had Kagome in his arms and kicked Kouga back a couple of feet. Then he jumped back farther away from him.

"Kagome are you ok?" Inuyasha asked. The whole time he kept an eye on Kouga.

"My arms hurt." Kagome said.

"I'm taking you home." Inuyasha said. "Let's get our stuff."

"We'll take care of it Inuyasha." Sango said.

"We'll drop it off at Kagome's house after school." Miroku said.

"This isn't over yet Inuyasha." Kouga yelled.

"I know. I still have to kick your ass." Inuyasha yelled. He picked Kagome up bridal style and jumped up on top of the school building and made his way to his house. He didn't think her mom would like it so much if he brought her home hurt.
