Chapter 33

Lots of Surprises

Inuyasha was walking up the stairs. He'd just disposed of the youkai that was standing in his way before. Miroku and Sango stayed a little ways away from Inuyasha. They'd never seen him act with such rage. Of course he had a reason to act that way. His mate was kidnapped. What made it worse was that they were newly mated.

They were walking up the stairs when Inuyasha smelled Kagome's scent. "She's here." Inuyasha said.

"Ah, so you've finally made it." Naraku said.

"You bastard! Where is Kagome?" Inuyasha growled.

"She's sleeping in my bed." Naraku smiled.

"You didn't." Inuyasha said with disbelief in his voice.

"Didn't what?" Naraku asked. "Didn't make her mine?"

"If you touched her I'll-"

"You'll what? She's lying in bed. Kikyo stopped by a little while ago and decided to get payback for her nose. She's got a couple of cuts, bruises, and a couple of broken ribs." Naraku said.

"THAT BITCH!" Inuyasha shouted.

"There's one thing we agree on." Naraku said. "Don't worry, Kikyo won't get away with it. Now if you'll kindly leave my house."

"I'm not leaving without Kagome." Inuyasha said.

"She's not going with you." Naraku said. "If you don't leave I'll have to kill you."

"You won't be able to kill me Naraku. You're already dead." Inuyasha growled.

Inuyasha jumped up at Naraku and kicked him in the chest. Naraku stumbled back a bit and fell forward onto his knees. He turned around and glared at Inuyasha. "Your death has just been assured." Naraku said.

Miroku and Sango sneaked past the two fighting hanyous. "We should look for Kagome." Miroku said.

"I'll go this way and you go that way." Sango pointed in opposite directions.

"No, we don't know who else is here. This house is too big. We need to stick together." Miroku said.

"Fine, let's go this way then." Sango pointed down a brightly-lit hallway.

Miroku nodded and they headed down the hallway. They stayed alert for anything that might come at them. They heard a scream at the end of the hallway. "Did that sound like Kagome?" Miroku asked.

"I've never heard her scream. Should we go check it out?" Sango asked.

"It's the only thing we can do. If it isn't Kagome we can get them to show us where she is." Miroku said.

"Hai." Sango said.

They both quietly made their way to the end of the hallway. They opened the door to look inside. The room was dark but they could see a little light shining through the curtains. "Is someone there?"

"It's Kagome!" Sango said.

Miroku threw open the door and looked for a light switch. Once he found it he flipped it on. They saw Kagome on the bed holding her stomach just below her breast. She looked at them. "Sango, Miroku." Kagome said.

"Kagome what's wrong?" Sango asked. "Why did you scream?"

"I had a bad dream and screamed. I sat up really fast and hurt my ribs." Kagome said.

"You look pretty bad." Miroku said.

"Thanks Miroku." Kagome said dryly. Sango hit him on the head. "Arigato Sango."

"Any time Kagome." Sango said.

"Where's Inuyasha?" Kagome asked.

"He's fighting with Naraku down the hallway." Miroku said.

"I have to go see him." Kagome said. She moved the blanket and got out of bed. That little movement made her hiss out in pain.

"Kagome, be careful. From what Naraku said earlier you have some busted ribs." Sango said.

"I'll be fine. I just have to get to Inuyasha." Kagome said as she tried walking towards the door.

"Get on my back. I'll take you to him." Miroku said seriously. He bent down in front of her and let her climb on.

Once Kagome was comfortably on his back they walked out of the room. They walked down the end of the hallway. They could hear crashes and curses. When they ended the hallway they could see both, Inuyasha and Naraku were covered in cuts and scratches.

"Inuyasha." Kagome said.

Inuyasha turned his head towards Kagome. `Thank Kami-sama she's all right.' Inuyasha thought. He smiled gaining the confidence he needed to beat Naraku.

`Dammit! How did they find her?' Naraku wondered. `No matter. I can still kill Inuyasha and his friends.'

Inuyasha ran towards Naraku and kicked him down to the ground. He put his foot on his chest and stepped harder on him. He smirked before shoving his claws through his chest. Naraku spit out blood but managed to kick him off.

Inuyasha fell to the floor but quickly recovered. Naraku stumbled a bit and held a hand to his stomach. "Damn you." Naraku muttered before falling onto the ground.

Everyone was silent for a while. "Is he dead?" Kagome asked.

"Yeah, I can't hear his heartbeat and the scent of death is taking over." Inuyasha said. He ran over to Kagome and picked her up off of Miroku's back. "What did he do to you? Did he touch you? Did he do something worse?"

"I'm fine. Kikyo is the one who hurt me." Kagome said. "Naraku didn't touch me."

A wave of relief washed over Inuyasha. He'd almost believed Naraku when he said he'd made her his. "Thank the gods." Inuyasha said.

"Are you okay?" Kagome asked Inuyasha. One of his ears laid limp on his head.

"I'll be healed in a couple of hours." Inuyasha said. He leaned down and kissed her. His hands rested on her waist, keeping her standing. He licked her lips for entrance and she opened. Their kiss was interrupted by a clearing of someone's throat.

"Shall we leave?" Miroku asked.

"Kagome needs to get to a hospital." Sango said.

Inuyasha picked Kagome up carefully so she wouldn't get hurt and nodded.

A couple months later Kagome was fully healed. Naraku was gone for good. Kouga moved to the U.S. He wanted to move to a place where no one had ever heard of him. Kikyo was sent to a boarding school in Sweden. Her family wanted to rid of the shame she caused so they thought it was best to get rid of her.

Inuyasha and Kagome were sitting in the backyard looking at the flowers. Her family was out and Inuyasha had found her sitting in the grass. Without a word he sat down and joined her. Kagome leaned her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.

"Kagome." Inuyasha said.

"Hmm?" Kagome said.

"You're pregnant." Inuyasha said.

Kagome's eyes shot open. "What?" Kagome said. Had she heard right?

"You're pregnant. The last time we mated you were in heat. I didn't realize it until afterwards." Inuyasha said.

Kagome put her hands on her stomach. She was pregnant. She was going to have Inuyasha's baby. "I'm pregnant." Kagome mumbled.

"You don't want it?" Inuyasha asked. He'd been full of joy when he smelled it on her a couple of days ago. He was going to have a real family.

"I do want it. I'm just surprised, that's all." Kagome smiled.

Inuyasha smiled and put his hands over hers on her stomach. "Kagome, will you marry me?" Inuyasha asked.

Kagome gasped. "Marry you?" she said.

"Hai, marry me. I love you." Inuyasha said. "I want people to know we're bonded the youkai way and the human way since I'm a hanyou."

"Of course I'll marry you. I love you too." Kagome said.

Inuyasha smiled and leaned down to capture her lips. "Do you think they'll have your ears?" Kagome asked.
