InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Child or Not ❯ Break Time ( Chapter 6 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Hey all you guys...well, I'm on a roll, so I'm working on this too.

Disclaimer: I still don't own em...so don't sue. I lost my wallet too...so I'm broke...again.

Recap:

Once he was done with that, he didn't even stay to see if he had gotten her, because he could already sense that she was flying off on her feather. He glanced behind him and saw that both puppets were dead on the ground, and Shippou and Kirara were still up in the air, the fox demon looking guilty.

Two red eyes watched the scene on the mirror, and narrowed his eyes.

”I will not have her fail again...”

Chapter 6:

Inuyasha turned his narrowed eyes away from Shippou, and put Kagome down on the ground beside her. He knew she was bleeding; he could smell the blood. She had yet to stop crying either, although she was silently sniffling now.

“Sango...can you clean her up?”

The demon exterminator blinked, but nonetheless kneeled down and laid her hand on the shoulder of the crying girl.

“What's the matter Kagome? You scared? Hurt? Those bad people are gone now...it's ok...”

The taijiya looked the girl over, noting the scratch on her arm, before taking her hand lightly and leading her over to the yellow pack, pulling out the first aid kit.

“Can I see your arm so I can bandage it?”

Silently, the crying girl nodded, moving her hair and holding out her arm. It wasn't a deep cut, but it was long, going across the length of her little upper arm. The girl wiped at her eyes stubbornly with her other hand.

“Why were all those other people here...why were you all hitting each other?”

The taijiya paused mid step of the rubbing of antibiotic salve onto Kagome's arm, before glancing at Miroku. Inuyasha and Shippou had disappeared, the hanyou most likely going to scold the kit. Turning her attention back to Kagome, she continued on, wrapping a bandage tightly, yet loose enough on her arm and patted her head.

“Miroku's got an answer of that for you...”

The girl blinked, and took a few steps toward the monk in question, who didn't really look like he was paying any attention, before she squealed and smiled as he scooped her up out of nowhere and plopped her on his lap.

“Gotcha! So, you want to know why we were all fighting earlier hm?”

At her nod, he nodded and continued on, bouncing his knee slightly to let her bounce.

“Well, it's a bit complicated, but see it's because there's this bad man, er, well this bad guy who wants to take you away, and get you to find something really important...but he's not supposed to have it. We have to find it instead, and you know how to find it. It's hard to see, but because you're a special little girl...you can see it glow...anyway...those bad people came to get you, but we took care of them. We're strong.”

The little girl, blinked, not really understanding much, but nodded her head.

“Mmkay! But...where's Yasha?”

Miroku chuckled, and then shrugged, before releasing the child with a quick pat on the head.

“He'll be back soon I'm sure...why don't you go play with Kirara?”

”Otay!”

A small smile lit the features of both the monk and the demon slayer as the young Kagome pounced on Kirara, and the two began to play with each other. A sigh escaped him, and Miroku glanced over at Sango.

“Things are going to be tricky from now on...we should really focus on getting back to Kaede's. Maybe she will know of someone who can lift this curse. Who knows, maybe its temporary.”

“Maybe...but what if it's not? What if nobody can break it, then what?”

“We'd best not think like that...but if worse comes to worse...well I don't know what we'll do.”

Sango frowned and looked away, noting the return of the hanyou and the now contrite Shippo, before pulling her knees up.

“Kagome's like a sister to me...and I don't want to loose her because of this curse. Now she's more like a daughter than anything...I miss her.”

Inuyasha's ears twitched as he returned to the group, and instead of heading over to join Miroku or Sango, or go play with Kagome, he sat jumped up to come and rest on a low hanging branch. It wasn't getting dark yet, but they were going to take a break.

His narrowed gaze landed on Shippou, whom he'd noticed had been sincerely sorry that Kagome was put in harms way. Even Kirara had been subdued as well. He knew it was hard to control a child, he'd heard that much, but even so it was dangerous. They had to hurry back to Kaede's so they could see if she had a solution.

The hanyou's gaze softened slightly as he looked at the little playing figure of Kagome. She looked happy as she chased Shippou around, before moving on to bat at Kirara's two tails as she laid there in her smaller form. It made him wonder about a few things. He idly wondered if any child that he had would be like this, more specifically, his child. He frowned at that and shook his head to clear such thoughts from his mind. Now wasn't the time. He grunted as he let himself jump down from the tree branch he was sitting on.

“Oi; we're leaving now, let's go.”

He heard a squealed out version of his name, which caused his ears to flatten to his head, before a little body latched itself to his leg.

“Hey, get offa me Kagome!”

He picked up his leg and moved to look at the little girl who was beaming and looking up at him, before sighing and putting his leg down.

“Grr...I give up...”

He shifted and plucked her off his leg, moving to hold her lightly as he grabbed her pack to hand off to Sango.

Sango moved to pack up Kagome's bag before setting it on Kirara's back. Miroku had Shippou and they quickly climbed on before moving to take off. Inuyasha had already started to move, and when he'd noted that the others were now ready, he began to run. He had to shush Kagome when she started to squeal and babble as he ran, and began to growl lightly, as instinct was telling him it would calm her down. It did. She was soon asleep in his arms, and things were going smoothly as they were heading quickly back to Kaede's village.

>> I'm so sorry people! Life's hectic. And I'll say this much, I was steadily writing this chapter to get it out. I got writers block about halfway through though, so yeah. But the good news is that I have new inspiration, so it should be better now.

Next update will come sometime in the next week or so. Bai for now people! *waves*
