Disclaimer: I don't own InuYasha...or Kagome...or Miroku, or Sango, or anyone else in this fiction. They're all the belongings of their creator, Rumiko Takahashi...and as much as I might not like that, I shall respect it. But I'm still borrowing them...so there! xP

Recap:
The small traveling party was now heading back towards Kaede's village. Upon demand, Kagome was being carried piggy back style by InuYasha, hiding under his hair and giggling every now and then. Sango had Kagome's pack, and was riding on Kirara, and Miroku was riding her bike, while Shippo sat in the basket. They were making a rather fast pace, wanting to get back to the village before nightfall, and just to avoid any demon attacks that they could.

She honestly didn't really care, but was going to carry out some orders. She may not like any of the group, but she knew that they could probably defeat Naraku, and she would then gain her freedom. Besides, there was no telling what kind of sick and twisted torture Naraku would have in for the poor girl. She wasn't that heartless.

Chapter 5: Whoopee...it's time to fight.
The group was still traveling, only having stopped previously for a snack for Kagome, but now they were on the move again. Things were going well, covering a fair amount of ground as they traveled. That is, until Kagura drifted into sight. Immediately, Kirara landed, Sango and Miroku dismounted and got into battle positions. Shippou stayed where he was, and Inuyasha tightened his hold on Kagome, who was napping in his arms, her head resting on his shoulder as he held her securely to his chest.
A growl escaped him and he glanced once at Kagome to make sure she was still sound asleep, before turning full attention to Kagura.
“Kagura...what the hell do you want?”
The wind sorceress in question was fanning herself lightly, before dropping down from her feather and letting her fan shut and fall to her side.
“I've come for the girl; Naraku wants her. Who knows...he might even know how to break the curse put on her? After all, the one who cast it is dead again, never to be revived again, and the curse didn't disappear when she died.”
Miroku frowned, stepping forward, drawing Kagura's attention away from Inuyasha.
“So you mean to tell me that it was indeed Tsubaki who cast this curse?”
A twitch of her lips and slight inclination of her head was her only response to the monk, before her attention turned once more to Inuyasha.
“Like I said, hand over the girl, or things will get ugly.”
“Keh...the only ugly thing around here is you...and what's worse, you stink too. You're stupid if you think I'd just hand Kagome over to you right now. Naraku only wants her so he can use her young age and naiveté to find the remaining jewel shards! Like hell I'll stand by and let that happen.”
Kagura's eyes narrowed, before she held out her fan, still shut, and pointed at the hanyou and child.
“Attack now! Get the girl!”
Upon her orders tentacles shot from the ground, wrapping around the stunned hanyou, who merely tightened his hold on Kagome, praying that she wouldn't wake up, before slashing them away with one hand.
“That the best you've got?”
His cocky smirk was in place, and he calmly walked over to Kirara and Shippo, laying the sleeping child down carefully on the nekomata's back.
“Make sure she doesn't fall Shippou, and Kirara, if you have to, head back to Kaede's.”
While he had been doing that, Miroku and Sango had been fighting the first demon puppet that had emerged. He knew there were two, he could smell the second. It was about to come out behind Sango, and then there was Kagura to take care of.
“Sango, there's another one coming behind you!”
Feeling satisfied that he warned her, he pulled the Tessaiga from it's sheath, and faced Kagura.
“Like I said, you've got another thing coming if you think you can take Kagome.”
He jumped just in time, the wind sorceress opting to just attack instead of respond. Another smirk crossed his features; this would be fun.

A small, sleepy sound came from the young girl on Kirara's back, and the first thing she noticed, was that she was on something extremely furry...and this wasn't Inuyasha. Her brown eyes opened and she moved to sit up, and in the process lost her balance and fell off Kirara onto the ground with a small thud, laying there in the dirt for a moment before she pushed herself up.
She took in the commotion from around her, Sango was fighting some...thing, in monkey skin with lots of tentacles, and so was Miroku. But...she couldn't find Inuyasha...wait...there he was! A smile lit her features, and she stood, clapping her hands together once before frowning. What was going on?
She didn't understand...it looked like he was in the circus...she'd seen that on the TV before...she knew about those...um...'aprobats' yeah, that's what they were. It looked so cool...but...scary at the same time. Her eyes widened as he flew backwards, being hit with some sort of ring.

Her attention shifted when Kirara suddenly jumped up, and in her place was one of those monkey things...and it was staring right at her. She screamed, and turned tail and ran, right past the stunned Sango, and past Miroku, who shouted her name, and straight to Inuyasha, grabbing onto his leg and clinging, burying her face in and just crying. She was scared, upset, and worried, and in her young mind, she didn't understand what was going on, which scared her even more.

Inuyasha had just been about to unleash his Wind Scar; in hopes of knocking away some of Kagura's pesky wind blades, when he felt the weight on his leg. Now, he smelled the tears, fear, and panic of the girl clinging to him, and as he was momentarily distracted, the blades hit, cutting his arms, and his legs, one scratching Kagome on the arm, just a skim, but it still drew blood.
Jumping back, he growled ferociously and snarled at Kagura, before jumping away from a few more wind blades, landing up in a cover of trees, before immediately thrusting the Tessaiga into the trunk, just enough so it could stay there, before picking up Kagome.
”Eh...what were you doing Kagome? Shippou was supposed to watch you...”
He growled softly under his breath, and at the moment, held the still softly crying child, before jumping away from the tree a second later.
“Dammit...”
He jumped from branch to branch, trying to dodge most of Kagura's wind blades, before landing on the ground, Kagome held tightly to his chest.
“I'm sick of you Kagura...”
The smile on the wind sorceresses face was not a real smile, and her eyes shone with her regret for what she was about to do. Children; she may not like them, but they were too innocent to be hurt.
Inuyasha raised his sword arm, clutching the sword tightly and waiting for Kagura's next attack, planning on wiping her out for good with his Backlash Wave. The wind sorceress didn't disappoint. She launched her next attack, some wind blades and a few small tornados, and he took his chance, swinging the Tessaiga diagonally.
“Backlash Wave!”
Once he was done with that, he didn't even stay to see if he had gotten her, because he could already sense that she was flying off on her feather. He glanced behind him and saw that both puppets were dead on the ground, and Shippou and Kirara were still up in the air, the fox demon looking guilty.

Two red eyes watched the scene on the mirror, and narrowed his eyes.
”I will not have her fail again...”
”I will not have her fail again...”
