InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Child or Not ❯ A Sinister Plot ( Chapter 4 )

Disclaimer: I don't own InuYasha...or Kagome...or Miroku, or Sango, or anyone else in this fiction. They're all the belongings of their creator, Rumiko Takahashi...and as much as I might not like that, I shall respect it. But I'm still borrowing them...so there! xP

Recap:
Miroku smiled as he watched the two start making breakfast, Kirara also padding behind them as they headed towards the fire. His gaze then shifted to Inuyasha who was looking down at the child Kagome with an unreadable expression, watching as the girl fiddled with his haori, and even stuck her head in the large sleeve before pulling it out.
`Maybe things won't be so bad after all...'

Chapter 4: A Sinister Plot
As the day went on it was obvious that their age reduced friend was the most comfortable with the dog-eared hanyou, who didn't seem to mind her as much as he made out to. After a while though, it was obvious that the child was warming up to all of them though.
Being as she had no clue where her parents were, she began to look at Sango like a mother figure. Miroku and InuYasha were like her temporary father figures. Shippo and Kirara were like a brother and pet, but it was obvious she was the most comfortable with InuYasha.
After find out what they could from a hyperactive child, the three adults sat down and watched as Kagome played with Shippo and Kirara happily.
“I just realized something...”
“What would that be Sango?”
“We need to stop in a village to get some smaller clothing. I mean in case you didn't notice, but she's only wearing a really large shirt...”
“Keh! So on our way back to baba's we'll stop and get some kid clothes for her. No big deal.”
“I suppose not...but we should think about if the spell will make her constantly change ages or if she'll stay the same age until it is broken. Either way, this puts a damper on traveling and looking for shards.”
“How so? We could just bring her with us.”
“Are you nut's Inuyasha?! How could you think of that?”
“Keh...we're not weaklings. We can handle her. Besides, Shippo always comes, and he's almost never any help. But now he'll have a purpose. The runt can protect her if the need arises.”
InuYasha's attention turned to the playing girl again, nearly letting a smile appear on his face at how happy she looked playing hide and seek with Shippo. As if sensing someone looking at her, the girl turned to look at the adults, before smiling and making her way over again.
“I'm hungry...”
Sango took the chance and scooped Kagome up into her arms with a smile.
“Snack like hungry or dinner hungry?”
“Snack!”
She stood, and made her way over to the yellow monstrosity that elder Kagome always dragged with her through the well, and peered inside.
“Hm...do you want chips, or maybe a candy bar...ooh there's also some rice balls in here. Which do you want?”
Being that she herself could use a snack, she had opened the container of rice balls and was going to take one for herself, but she smiled when Kagome grabbed on as well. Shrugging, she just brought the whole container back over to where everyone was sitting, Kirara and Shippo having joined them when Kagome had wandered away, and sat down again, putting the container in the center, for them to take if they wanted.
She set Kagome down in her lap, and watched as the girl held onto a rather large rice ball, and proceeded to stare at it. She had her own rice ball in her hand, and took a small bite herself.
“You know...that's a pretty big rice ball for such a little girl. You sure you can eat it all Kagome?”
The girl in question looked up, her face having a few grains of rice stuck to it from the bite she just took, and she smiled at Miroku and nodded.
“I can!”
“Really? I don't believe you...prove it.”
“I will!”
InuYasha paused chomping and watched as the little girl proceeded to try to stuff the rice ball into her mouth, barely holding in the smile when she got bits of rice all over her face. Shippo however, didn't, and laughed, before handing the girl a napkin.

Naraku frowned slightly as he peered through Kanna's mirror at the group. He stood, walking across the room to grab another of his wooden puppets and wrap a hair around it.
“Kanna. Go fetch Kagura and tell her I need her services.”
Without a word the albino child left the room, and headed off to where she knew the wind sorceress would be. The roof of the castle.

The small traveling party was now heading back towards Kaede's village. Upon demand, Kagome was being carried piggy back style by InuYasha, hiding under his hair and giggling every now and then. Sango had Kagome's pack, and was riding on Kirara, and Miroku was riding her bike, while Shippo sat in the basket. They were making a rather fast pace, wanting to get back to the village before nightfall, and just to avoid any demon attacks that they could.
~
Having gotten the message, Kagura had gone down to see what Naraku wanted her to do, and wasn't totally surprised when he instructed her to bring 2 demon puppets and pay Inuyasha and his friends a visit.
Currently, she was sitting on her feather, flying high up in the air. How she hated her creator, but there was nothing she could do while he held her heart. She idly recalled the last time he threatened her with her heart, which was just earlier. She had taken her sweet old time to get down there to see him, and he wanted to make sure that if the opportunity arose, that she would grab the child now traveling with the group.
She honestly didn't really care, but was going to carry out some orders. She may not like any of the group, but she knew that they could probably defeat Naraku, and she would then gain her freedom. Besides, there was no telling what kind of sick and twisted torture Naraku would have in for the poor girl. She wasn't that heartless.
