Test of the Heart

A new but old battle rises in the distance

 

 

Sesshoumaru closed the door and listen to the young lovers as he searched the room to see her lying there half-dead. He crossed the room in three strides as he was opening the cap and sat down next to her. He opened her mouth and pored the fowl stuff down her throat.

 

Chiyo was out but she could hear everything that was said and what had been done. “I don't want that fowl smelling stuff in me. I will be just fine.” She thought to herself as her mouth was filling up with the stuff, reflex was what hit next as she sat up and it came up and out. Sesshoumaru looked away as that was happening.

 

“Gods, what are you trying to do, kill me? No thanks I can heal all by my self. Don't need help there.” She said as she fell back to the pillow.

 

“It came from Kagome's time; don't blame me for the taste.” He wanted to say but did not as he watched her go back to sleep.

 

He took his leave from the room, he went down the hall to the lady demon that was waiting on his aunt “Make sure she is healing, call me if anything happens.” He said and made his way to where brother is was at. He found him and the Miko in the dinning room getting a snack.

 

“Inuyasha, Please come with me so we can talk.” He said to the Hanyou.

 

“What ever you have to say, you can say it in front of Kagome, I have nothing to hide and do not want to start.” Inuyasha said to his brother.

 

“Fine, this is going to be hard to say but I better while I have the chance. I want you to know that I will not go after you or your group; I will not kill or take your sword from you. You and the Kagome with be protected by me. I could have killed you many times before and I did not do so because I wanted to see you grow to be strong and be able to fend for your self. I do not loath you any more…” Sesshoumaru said.

 

“Wait, you just called me by my name. Instead of the Miko or the girl.” Kagome said, as she was not paying attention to the two.

 

“Yes, I have, and considering that I can smell my brother all over you I would almost consider the fact that you will be one of the Inu clan soon, Anyway, I am sorry for pushing you away and not get to know you better. Chiyo had me pinned to tell you that I have change some of my ways. So is it a truce?” Sesshoumaru asked.

 

Inuyasha watched his brother and sniffing to see if there was any deceit in what he had said but he found nothing to what his brain is telling him that it was a lie.

 

“As long you are willing to protect the village that I call home and everything around the tree that I was pinned to.” Inuyasha challenged him.

 

Sesshoumaru watched Inuyasha as he was thinking and weighing the options that were presented in front of him. He nodded his head and said. “It will be done. Do I have your word that you will fight along the side of me to protect the lands that is yours as mine?”

 

“It is agreed that I will do that. It is a truce.” Inuyasha said as the lady came running forward into the room.

 

“Lord, she is glowing in a light blue and levitating above the bed. I do not know what that means.”

 

The brothers both left the room leaving Kagome and the demon to fend for them self's. They got to the room to see that Chiyo was still in the air.

 

“What is she doing?” Inuyasha asked his brother.

 

“I do not know or understand.” Sesshoumaru answered back. Chiyo came back to the futon as that was said.

 

A moan came from her as she opened her eyes and looked around the room to see a pair of eyes watching her.

 

“Go away; I am not going to school. Let me sleep.” She said even though she was not with it.

 

“We will go and let her sleep more. I am going to go and find what else her name means.” Sesshoumaru said as he closed the doors. Kagome came up and waited to see what was going on.

 

“Kagome, do me a favor and stay with Chiyo for a while and make sure she is going to be all right.” Inuyasha said to her. “I am also going with him to see what is going on.”

 

They left and Kagome went in the room and sat next to the demon that was asleep.

 

The two brothers had not trouble in finding what her name really meant and it was just not a sweet smelling flower that she was known to be.

 

 

Chiyohana, Born with a gift of death as well with the gift of life. She can justify and correct what had happen. If the injured is in need of assistance and not dead she can heal them. But behold the person or demon that has angered her for there is an other demon that she possesses and will come out and kill. It dose not have a name that we know of.

 

I just hope that my daughter will be able to master it and control it if it ever shows up.

 

Sesshoumaru read what else was written and then rolled the scroll back up.

 

“Sesshoumaru, if that is true then she should not have left here.” Inuyasha said quietly as he did not know what his aunt could truly do.

 

“You only heard of what she can do and what her name implies. I have seen her in action and it is not a pretty sight.” Sesshoumaru said back.

 

Daybreak came and every one was tired but got up to eat any way. The only one that was not there was the Lord himself. He had stayed in her room after he dismissed Kagome.

 

Chiyo opened her eyes and looked around the room that she knew was hers but for the life of her she could not place how she got there. She sensed that some one was in bed with her but she did not want to wake him up.

 

“You are awake, that is good and you talk in your sleep.” Sesshoumaru said as he got up himself.

 

“I would not know that. You are never going to give up are you?” Chiyo asked as the night before came back to her.

 

“Why would you ask a foolish question, when you know the answer to it anyway?” He asked. There was a knock on the door.

 

“My Lady would you like to get something to eat?” The voice said.

 

“Kagome, come in and yes a breakfast sound good and distracting. Oh and do not mind the person that is in bed also he was just being a pain in the ass.” Chiyo said as Kagome came in and stopped when she saw Sesshoumaru also.

 

Kagome had to look twice as she thought she caught him smile and a small and quiet laugh was heard.

 

“Chiyo, here it is I will leave you alone so you can eat.” Kagome said.

 

“I will have nothing of it, come and sit with me and we can talk about anything you want to talk about. I am sure that Sesshoumaru will get board and then leave as soon as we talk about men.” Chiyo said to the girl who started to laugh.

 

They talked trough out the morning and Chiyo was right Sesshoumaru did leave to take care of some business.

 

“Kagome what are you going to do when the jewel is back together?” Chiyo asked the girl.

 

“I am not sure, I want to stay here but then I will be leaving my family, I also want to finish school. I want Inuyasha to come but I don't want to take him away from here either.” Kagome said crest fallen.

 

“I guess we will cross that bridge when we get there. So he finally told you how he felt about you.” Chiyo asked.

 

“Yea, Sesshoumaru said that he came smell his brother all over me. It is somewhat weird to hear him say my name. Let alone show any kind of emotion. So are you going to go with him or stay away?” Kagome asked.

 

“I think he is fibbing about my parents but in way I am going to the family archive to fine out. Want to come along four eyes are better than two?” Chiyo asked.

 

“Yea, why not might as well get to know his family also.” Kagome said as they left to go to the archives down the hall and to the left. Going in they started to look for anything that was about her parents. Kagome looked into a book and motioned for Chiyo to come and read it.

 

Hincho was mated to Hana who was his aunt on his mother's side of the clan.

 

“So this means that he was not lying about your father and mother.” Kagome asked.

 

“Then so it is. What do I do now?” Chiyo asked no one in particular.

 

“I would accept him for who he is. Do not think in the way of Kagome's world for it is far different from now.” Inuyasha said as he came to Kagome and wrapped his arms around her waist.

 

“You think that why?” Chiyo asked

 

“Well, he seams happier that you are around and more stable. He is also showing emotion that is good for him. As far as I know he only showed that stuff around Rin.” Inuyasha said back.

 

“It was the day before that you were calling him bastard. Is it because that he finally talked to you of why he did what he did. That finally changed your mind?” Chiyo asked

 

“Yea, I called him everything under the sun. He has been truthful to us now. I just don't see why you won't give him a chance.” Inuyasha paused “Besides you and he make a great couple. The ex Ice King and the Flaming Flower.”

 

“Oh ha ha ha.” Chiyo said as the door to the study opened and a page walked in holding a scroll.

 

“Lord Inuyasha, this was delivered to you by a woman and a child.” He said as he gave the scroll to him.

 

“Did they give names?” Inuyasha asked as he took the scroll.

 

“Kana and Kagrua.” The page said and turned to leave.

 

Inuyasha opened the scroll and read what was in side and then left the room to look for his brother with the other two in toe. They found him in another study reading papers.

 

“Sesshoumaru, we have a problem. Naraku is moving in from the north. I smell a trap because Kagrua and Kana delivered this to us.” Inuyasha said as he handed it to his brother who took it and read it as well.

 

“It would seem that it will be a trap. But ask Kagome if she senses any jewel shards or the jewel near here.” Sesshoumaru asked.

 

“I don't feel him or his part of the jewel but I do feel that there are three of them on the move and it is Koga he is also not alone.” Kagome said.

 

“That mangy wolf needs to stay out of it.” Inuyasha grumbled as Kagome showed a small smile, as Chiyo and Sesshoumaru started to laugh.

 

“I see he is getting on other peoples nerves as well.” Sesshoumaru said.

 

“We have to make plans. Have the fastest runner go for the humans and have them make hast to get here. What of Rin?” She asked.

 

“She will stay here. Would Shippou like to stay and protect her should some thing happen?” Sesshoumaru asked.

 

“He would not like to be left behind but I think I could get him to stay here with her.” Kagome said.

 

“Then we leave in the morning.” Sesshoumaru said as he started to get up.
