Disclaimer: This story is my creation although the characters are not. I did not, create, nor do I own any characters of InuYasha, they belong to Rumiko Takahashi, I just happen to love them. This story is based, but not restricted by the show/movies. For entertainment purposes only.-

Notes: I’m really not a Kikyo fan, so expect some abuse on her part. (Not physical or sexual mind you.)

Sorry it’s taken me so long to update, my darling husband has been keeping the computer all to himself. This chapter is going to be short. I’m just showing what Inuyasha, Kikyo and Enraku are up to. I have plans for them later on, but I figured I’d throw them in for a minute.

Thanks for all the reviews. ^-^

Chapter 11
The Hanyou, the Undead and the Human

The silver hair hanyou leaned casually against a boulder some distance away from the Bone Eater’s well, idly twirling a piece of blue fabric around his index finger. Across the fire from him lay Enraku, sprawled out haphazardly on the ground. A few yards away stood the undead miko, casually leaning against a tree. The three were quiet, with only the occasional snore from Enraku to break the silence.

Bringing the fabric up to his nose he inhaled it’s scent, reassuring himself that it was really Kagome’s scent. Since they had found the gag that Okito had used on Kagome, there had been no other trace of her. Of course they weren’t aware that Kagome was on her way back to her own time, and they weren’t even close to be able to detect her scent. The odd trio was at least 3 days away from the well, and weren’t about to head in that direction anytime soon.

“You do know she’s not that smart to leave clues for you.” The undead miko broke into Inuyasha’s thoughts with her unwanted opinion.

“Shut the fuck up, Kikyo.” Inuyasha had never been as disrespectful to Kikyo, but since she had tried to kiss him, and had been constantly telling him what a waste of time finding Kagome was, all he was beginning to feel for Kikyo was resentment. He was tiring of her negativity and fast. But, the more Kikyo insulted Kagome, the more he wanted to find her, if only to have his eternal little Miss Sunshine over shine the gloom that clung to Kikyo like a second layer of skin.

“If I wanted your opinion I’d go rattle on your gravestone. Until then shut the hell up.” He had no idea why she had bothered coming along, and he was wishing that she’d just go away, but she stuck around. He figured it was just to annoy the crap out of him.

“What’s the matter Inuyasha, afraid I speak the truth? Or are you secretly hoping that it’s true so you can come with me to hell?” Kikyo turned to Inuyasha, a smug smile on her face. She loved when he started getting that defeated look on his face, it gave her hope that he’d give up and come back to her.

“Kikyo, if you don’t shut your fucking mouth, I’m going to shut it for you.” Pushing himself to his feet, he turned to Kikyo glaring daggers in her direction. “I’m going to go see if I can track her, I’d suggest waking up prince charming over there so we can get a move on.”

Replying to Inuyasha with a thoughtful frown, she shook her head. “No, Enraku needs his rest.” Her voice was gentle as she spoke of the sleeping young man in front of a smile, the frown quickly replaced with an expression of concern. “He is not used to so much traveling, he will fall ill.”

“Like I care, the only thing I care about is finding Kagome, then getting rid of the two of you.” He didn’t stick around to hear any more arguments, opting to take the silence that had fallen after his last statement to dash off into the forest.

Kikyo could only sigh as she sat down next to Enraku, another frown falling over her face. She didn’t know why she felt drawn to Enraku, but a part of her felt like she needed to protect him, and that is what she was going to do.

Leaning down she smoothed Enraku’s hair from his forehead, another soft sigh escaping her. There was something more to this man than he was letting on. He had spoken of Inuyasha’s group, and mentioned that he was from a land far from here, but she had her doubts. Surely if he had traveled such a distance, he would not be nearly as exhausted with their ventures as he was. Hovering her face over his she continued to peer curiously at him, as if his sleeping face would give her all the answers that she was seeking.

Feeling eyes boring into him, Enraku awoke. His eyes fluttered open, his disoriented stare met Kikyo’s face and for a moment he thought she was Kagome. A wide grin fell across his lips as he sat up. “Kag...” He stopped once he realized that it was not Kagome staring down at him.

“No, I am not Kagome.” Kikyo hissed. She was beginning to grow extremely irritated over the hold the younger miko had on all the males around her.

“Sorry Kikyo, you looked like her for a minute.” Enraku reached up and rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment. He averted his eyes, unable to look at the angered expression on Kikyo’s face.

“So where did Mr. Attitude go? Any more traces of Kagome?”

“No, and I don’t believe there will be. The girl isn’t nearly as smart as the two of you make her out to be.”

“Actually, Kagome’s very smart. Her mother told me she has all passing marks in school, even though she’s absent majority of the time.” Enraku couldn’t help but smirk at the thought of how little the people hear knew of Kagome’s other life. But then again, Inuyasha seemed to know almost everything about Kagome.

He couldn’t help but sigh as he thought of his competition, although from his stand point he knew he didn’t really stand a chance with Kagome. Inuyasha was a hundred time stronger, and faster then he himself was. The only way that Enraku could find himself outshining Inuyasha was in the looks and brains department.

Kikyo’s sigh broke though Enraku’s thoughts and he found himself turning to face her. She had been kind enough to him since they had met that he couldn’t bring himself to mention Kagome again, knowing that it bothered her. “Well, shouldn’t we be going to find Inuyasha.”

Kikyo shook her head quickly and rose to her feet. “He’ll come back when he’s ready.”

Silence fell between the two, both now lost in their own thoughts. In her mind, Kikyo was trying to figure out exactly what Enraku knew about Kagome, and how she could get the information from him. Enraku however was wondering how Kagome was doing and where she was.

A shuffling in the distance roused them both from their thoughts, each turning towards the disturbance. Seconds later Inuyasha came screeching to a halt in front of them. The two arched a brow and looked questioningly to each other then to Inuyasha.
“Bout time you woke up. Come, let’s get a move on. I thought I caught a scent of Kagome.”

Without bothering to wait for the two to acknowledge what he said, he took off to the east, heading further away from the well.

With a sigh, his reluctant traveling companions set off after him.
