At the palace, Kagome passed out.
Sesshomaru was not happy. He summoned the healers, but they could not find anything wrong. Then he thought of Sayuri and
a servant was dispatched to see how she was.
Zephimaru laid the form of Sayuri down when he heard Ah-Un make a noise. He went to the door and spoke with the young
squirrel demon he saw there.
The young demon was named Shiroki. He said, "Lord Sesshomaru sent word to see how you were doing."
Zephimaru told the youngling what he knew and the servant returned to the palace.

Meanwhile inside the void, Sayuri's brilliant soul was lighting the dark abyss in which she sank. She knew well the look
of Kanna's soul. She held the thread out before her and softly called out, " Kanna, daughter of the dark. Kanna, tool of
Naraku. Kanna, she whose soul longed to be filled. She whose soul I can fill. Kanna, daughter of the dark, come and tool
no more ye shall be. Kanna, come to me. Your mother calls for you. Your mother needs you. Kanna, my daughter. Kanna,
souless though you were made, you were meant to be filled. Come, my child. My daughter Kanna, come." She knew her search
was ended when she came to a stop. Before her stood darkness, but it was different.
The darkness before her was not a mere abscence of light. This was true blackness. She narrowed her focus and the mother
in her felt the pulse of the soul she sought. She drew on her power and cast the thread in her hand. She knew for sure her
search was ended when the pulse she had felt was strengthened. She felt the tug as the soul ,trapped in the darkness, caught
and fused with the thread.
Sayuri tightened her grip on the thread. She sent her power back through the thread. She felt her power mix with that of
the soul she sought to free. She tugged on the thread and strangely enough, felt no fight. This put her on edge. She knew
this darkness and that it would not so easily release the pawn it had created.
True to form, just as the soul was beginning to surface, the darkness tightened around it.
Sayuri stood tall. The light of her soul conformed to her and the look was that of a princess crowned and clothed with
the light of the moon.
The darkness did the same, but the effect was her polar opposite.

Back at the palace, Kagome's powers formed around her also. They pulsed and thrummed in time with a beat that none had
ever known. Her powers did not form a barrier nor did they attack. They were simply present.
Sesshomaru reached out and lightly touched them. He was awed and dumbfounded at the same time. He had never heard of
anything like this before.

At the building where Zephimaru and the other two were, Kagura pressed her hands around Kanna's. Then she whispered, "My
sister. My sister, I love you. Come back with our lady. Sister, return to me."

Sayuri heard Kagura's call and sent an answering pulse through her connection to the wind witch. She then called to the
darkness to release its prisoner. She did not expect the reply it gave. She shook her head and noticed that the darkness
retreated slightly, only to pulse around the soul it held. She flinched as the soul trembled. Ripples of black was now
seen against the midnight blue and silver colored orb. She sent a pulse to it and then one to the darkness. Then ripples
of darkness was seen leaking from her.
Like a magnet, the shreds of darkness from her were drawn to the darkness before her.
The darkness expelled the soul it had held.
Sayuri cast out her powers and caught the orb before it sank deeper into the abyss.

Kagura received another pulse through her connection to Kagome's likeness. She stood and held the pearl over the portion
of the likeness's soul in the stone cup. She gasped as the pearl glowed and then dissolved, falling into the cup. She took
the sprig and ground it to powder. She felt tears fall from her eyes and mix with it. She then poured this into the stone
cup and stepped back.
The cup glowed. Lightening flashed and struck the cup. The cup began to spin as if someone unseen was stirring it. Then it
stopped.
Kohaku said, "Look, Kagura."
Kagura looked. She saw the spirit form of Sayuri holding the orb in her hands as if it were a small newborn. She asked,"Now
what?"

Sayuri sent another pulse.
Kagura lifted Kanna's head and told Kohaku, "Open her mouth."
The lad obeyed and carefully Kagura poured the mixture into Kanna's form.
Sayuri looked down at the orb. She removed her hands from it just as light enveloped the form. She smiled and vanished.

Zephimaru looked at the form on the last bed as it too was enveloped in light. He moved toward it. He knelt as the still
maiden's hand reached up for his.
Sayuri's chest rose and fell as her eyes opened. She briefly leaned back against him as her head spun. Feeling the world
settle, she looked toward the three.
Kagura was crying and holding her sister.
Kanna was very small. At the first, she appeared to be a child of seven. Now she looked like a newborn. She reacted as a
newborn in strange arms. She cried.
Kagura instinctively knew what to do. She cradled the infant Kanna in her arms as she carried her to Sayuri.

Sesshomaru hugged his mate close.
Kagome returned it. "Zephimaru and Sayuri will not return as they left."
"This Sesshomaru had not thought they would, mate. This Sesshomaru will adjust as needed."
"This Sesshomaru needs to feed his hungry mate. Then I want to play," said Kagome.
Eyes twinkling, Sesshomaru kissed his mate and then sent for a servant.
