Author notes:Thank you, my fans for bringing things to my attention. As for Naraku going down easily, there is a reason to that, which will be shown soon. I'm going to start calling Kirara by her right name in this chapter, and, I'm going to fix Tessaiga, since I like the Japanese spelling better than the American "Tetsusaiga." Also, be aware, that this fic IS R rated, or NC-17 if this is being read by my Mediaminer.org fans. That means lemons will be included. Yes, plural, as in more than one. Chapter Five:Truly, deeply, forever.



Kagome looked away from Inu-Yasha, half glaring. "You.. you're lying. I know how you feel. You love Kikyou, not me! I'm just a sorry replacement for her, aren't I?!?! I mean nothing to you, Inu-Yasha, but since Kikyou's not around, I'm a good enough substitute, is that what you're thinking?! Well I won't give my heart to someone who just wants me for a replacement of the first person they loved..."

"Kagome, that's not true. I've never seen Kikyou in you. Well, at first, before I knew you, I did, but I realized I love you, not her. I can never keep that promise to Kikyou, because I need to be with you, forever, and always, til both our lives end, and even beyond!" Inu-Yasha shouted back, pleading with her to acknowledge his love for her.

"LIAR!!" she yelled in tears, turning from Inu-Yasha.

Inu-Yasha forcefully grabbed Kagome by the arm, causing her to yelp, and then took her face in his right hand, lifting her chin to stare into his golden eyes. "Kagome, you're not listening to what I'm trying to say! Kikyou, yes, I did promise Kikyou that I'd follow her to the end, but I never gave her my heart! You're all that matters to me, my soul, my heart, they're your's! What must I do to prove this to you! I give you everything I have, and all I ask is you love me too..." he said, and, before he could hold himself back anymore, he gently leaned into her and took a kiss from her lips. Taking away Kagome's first kiss. At least, even now if she was to forsake him, he was able to taste those beautiful, sweet lips just once.

Kagome blushed intensly as Inu-Yasha moved away from their kiss. "Inu-Yasha.... do you really mean this?" she asked. He nodded to her. "You won't follow Kikyou, and you'll break that promise?" she asked. Inu-Yasha nodded again. "Oh, Inu-Yasha..." she said in tears. "I..I love you...I'm sorry.. for yelling, I was just scared that... once Kikyou came back into the picture, that you'd forsake me again.."

"Never again, Kagome. Just.. say you'll be mine... forever." he pleaded.

"Always... my Inu-Yasha." she said and leaned into his chest, sobbing softly against the material of his red kimono. "Ai shiteru..."

"Ai shiteru, Kagome-chan." Inu-Yasha responded back. "But.. why are you crying..? I didn't try to make you cry again...I'm sorry..." he said, looking down and closing his eyes.

"Don't worry about it, Inu-Yasha-kun.. I'm just being overly happy..and I'm crying because of it... not your fault." she said, wiping her tears. "C-come on, let's head to my time. Grandpa and Mom are going to want to know about this.."

"Your little brother's going to have happiness overload...as much as he adores me.." Inu-Yasha muttered.

"He always wanted a brother, that's all.." she explained, snuggling against Inu-Yasha.

"So, he wants me to be a brother to him..?" he blinks, remembering his own brother. "But.. I have no reason to abuse Sota and hit him, and try and kill him for being inferior to me..." he says, remembering all the hardships he had as a child with Sesshoumaru.

Kagome sweatdropped. "Not all brothers are like Sesshoumaru, Inu-Yasha..." she explained, kissing the hanyou's cheek gently. "Come on, let's go.." she said, pulling him by his arm toward the well.

"All right, all right.." he said, picking Kagome up and leaping down the well.

When the two landed they were completely surprised by Grandpa, Sota, and Kagome's Mom all waiting for them at the well. "ACK! MOM, GRANDPA, SOTA! WHY'D YOU DO THAT!!!?!?!" Kagome yelled in shock of seeing the three just standing there, as if they knew Kagome was coming home.

"Oh, we're sorry dear, we were just hoping you'd be coming home soon, since you usually come around this time in the month." Kagome's Mom explained.

"Yeah, sis, and you brought Inu-Yasha too! Hey Inu-Yasha, long time no see!" Sota said gleefully as he looked up at his Hanyou Hero.

"Grandpa, Mom, Sota, me and Inu-Yasha have something to tell you, can we go in the house?" Kagome asked.

The three nodded in confusion and the five made their way in the house, Inu-Yasha speeding in front of the others, knowing him being seen in this time was not the wisest of ideas he could have had. But, when all five people were in the house, Inu-Yasha and Kagome sat on one side of the table, while Sota, Mom, and Grandpa went to the other. "Well...err...Kagome, you better say it..."

"Oh, Kami-sama... she's pregnant..." Kagome's Mom said, pale in the face.

"NO I'M NOT!!! I'M STILL A VIRGIN MOM!!!!" Kagome yelled, blushing madly.

"Um...yeah..I am too..." Inu-Yasha said, blinking some. After all.. who would he have had sex with? Kikyou would have been harder to get into than Naraku's castle, being the prim and proper priestess she was when she was alive, and he wouldn't want her now that she was barely alive...

"Well what is it then, Kagome?" Grandpa asked, staring accusingly at Inu-Yasha. He knew it was something to do with that weird dog-eared kid.

"Inu-Yasha and I...are in love... and, I was hoping we'd have your blessing..is all.." Kagome said, looking down blushing.

"Woot! GO SIS!" Sota exclaimed and hugged his older sister. "So, Inu-Yasha, are you gonna be my big bro now?!?!"

Kagome whispered to Inu-Yasha, "I told you he wants a brother.."

Inu-Yasha nodded nervously. "Um...that's up to your Mom..and Grandpa, I suppose, Sota.."

"Hmm...you love my Granddaughter, Inu-Yasha?" the older man asked.

"Yes, I do."

"...would you be willing to marry her one day?" he asked.

Kagome instantly crimsoned, as did Inu-Yasha, but the Hanyou still put on his strong exterior. "I wouldn't only be willing, I want to." he said. 'Did I just...admit I want to marry her...? Hell..I can't believe I told her I love her...I guess this is what it is to be honest with myself...'

Kagome's blushed brightened ten fold. "You want..to marry me, Inu-Yasha..?" she asked, choking on her own words.

"I do, Kagome..one day. But, I don't think either of us are ready..." he said, blushing brightly.

"Well..I see no reason Kagome shouldn't be allowed to date Inu-Yasha. After all, who could resist those adorable ears..?" Kagome's Mom said, smiling at her daughter.

"Well...then the only question is...can Inu-Yasha live with us? He has no one else he could stay with here..." Kagome said, laying her head on Inu-Yasha's shoulder.

"Sure he can, Kagome." Kagome's Mom quickly said with another smile. "Inu-Yasha, you can stay either on the couch or in Sota's room. The couch folds out if you want to sleep there."

"Folds out... into what..? Is it a Youkai?" he asked, preparing to pull Tessaiga out of it's sheath.

"Inu-Yasha.. it folds out into a bed..." Kagome said, sighing and kissing her boyfriend's nose.

"Oh...erm...you mean it turns into one of those things in your room?" he asked blinking.

"Kind of..." Kagome said, noticing Buyo rubbing on Inu-Yasha's leg. "Heehee, Buyo likes you it looks like."

"Kagome... is that a Youkai?" he asked.

"No... that's my cat, Inu-Yasha..."

"Your boyfriend really is from the past.." Kagome's Mom said, leading her Father off with her, apparently so the two could talk about Kagome's future.

"Hey, Inu-Yasha, can I hold Tessaiga?" Sota asked gleefully.

"Um..sure.." Inu-Yasha said, preparing to pull his katana out but Kagome grabbed his hand. "Nani?"

"My Mother would kill you for letting Sota play with a weapon, Inu-Yasha-kun..." she explained.

"Sorry, Sota." Inu-Yasha said.

"Inu-Yasha, why don't we go outside and talk for a while?" Kagome suggested, standing up and taking the Hanyou's hand, leading him outside.

*Back in the Warring states ear*

Kikyou stood before a lake, summoning souls to her as she watched her own reflection in the lake. "Must I exist like this for the rest of eternity...?" she asked herself, as suddenly a voice floated through her mind.

'Ah, Kikyou, still you pine for Inu-Yasha, do you not...?' the voice asked. 'And yet... he openly broke his promise to you, and has chosen your reincarnation over you.'

"Naraku..leave me alone." Kikyou said.

'If you got the Shikon no Tama back from them... Inu-Yasha could be your's again, and you'd be free, and human again..' the voice of Naraku echoed.

"....I would become human again...?" Kikyou questioned, but the voice was gone. As Naraku's last act of strength before his death, he managed to send his spirit to tell Kikyou of what he thought would happen. "If I kill Kikyou..I will take back my true soul..?" she wondered to herself. But, Kikyou was unable to get to the present era that Kagome was from without a shard of the Shikon Jewel, nor did she even know of this time fully. "No... if this was Inu-Yasha's decision...let it be..." she said, turning to the lake and all the souls she had gathered. Was this truly her...? She lived taking others souls... but if she sent them away, she'd return to her rest. "...I shall.. return with them.. not take them." And with that, Kikyou allowed the souls to be free...while what was left of hers left with them... leaving behind only the robes of the Priestess she formerly was...but, even with one evil gone from this world, many others still existed who wanted the Shikon no Tama, and many who could sense it, and perhaps even follow Kagome and Inu-Yasha for it.
