Choosing your path:An Inu-Yasha tale

Chapter Six:Peace isn't something you just receive...

Inu-Yasha awoke on the sofabed in Kagome's living room and sighed a little. It's not that the bed wasn't comfortable, it was actually the most comfortable sleep he'd ever had. But, it still wasn't good enough. Because, he wasn't used to being far away from Kagome when he slept. They were always right next to each other. He couldn't be away from her. Slowly Inu-Yasha pulled the blanket off of him, getting out of the bed and walking up the stairs slowly. It was night still. And, it was a Sunday. Kagome had class tommorow. As Inu-Yasha found himself in front of Kagome's room, he wasn't quite sure what to do. 'If I wake her up... she'll be sleepy for school. But..' sighing as he thought, Inu-Yasha slowly cracked the door, looking into the room.

There was Kagome, laying on her bed, curled up under her covers, a serene look on her face as she slept. Inu-Yasha had to smile as he watched her. But, just as he tried to decide whether or not to go see her, someone tapped his shoulder gently. Inu-Yasha turned to see Kagome's Mom. 'Not good..' Inu-Yasha thought to himself. "Hi..Ms. Higurashi..." he said softly, and rather weakly.

"What were you planning on doing, looking at my daughter sleeping..?" she asked sternly.

"I wanted to talk to her..I'm not used to sleeping and not having her close. And, before you think some kind of hentai-ish thought, she's just always sleeping directly across from me when we set up camp. I.. I get scared not seeing her when I wake up.. okay?" he explained, looking away. "If you want to have me leave your house, I can't say I blame you. I'm sure you just see me as some pervert who's trying to get into your daughter's pants, but I love her... more than my entire life itself..." he said, beginning to walk away, but Kagome's Mom grabbed his shoulder.

"You love her. Go ahead and talk to her.." she said smiling.

"T-thank you.." Inu-Yasha said weakly, opening Kagome's door then shutting it behind him. "Kagome... are you awake..?" he asked, kneeling by her bed, smiling a little. "I really want to talk to you..."

Kagome stirred in her sleep, but turned to Inu-Yasha and smiled. "I'm awake.. now, Koi. What is it?" she asked, leaning in and kissing the Hanyou's nose as a greeting.

Inu-Yasha blushed some. "Well...Kagome.. I wanted to know if I could stay in here..." he asked smiling somewhat, though a bit nervously. "I'm just so used to having you near me when I rest, and I feel too weird being away from you..." he said. "I don't mind sleeping on the floor... as long as we're in the same room." he explained.

"Then get up here.." she said.

"You sure..?" he asked blushing. She nodded. With that comfimation, Inu-Yasha slowly climbed into the other side of Kagome's bed and lay there calmly. "Thanks.. Kagome." he said softly, only to have Kagome's arms wrap around him from behind. "Feels nice being held by you..." he said smiling, turning to Kagome and returning the embrace. "Night.."

"Night, Inu-Yasha-kun." she said, closing her eyes and leaning against Inu-Yasha as she fell asleep.

*Warring States Era.*

"Hey, Miroku..?" Sango questioned.

"Yes, Sango-chan?"

"Think they're together yet?"

Miroku just nodded. "It's late... we ought to follow Shippou's example and rest.." the monk added to his nod.

"Okay. Night, Houshi-chan." the demon slayer said, turning to go to sleep.

"Sango..?" Miroku questioned softly.

"What?" she asked, still lying down.

"Would you bear my child?"

"Oh shut up, Miroku..." she muttered.

"Sango, I meant it. I.. guess I need to choose better words. Well.. now that Naraku's dead, we're free to do as we like, and, what I want.. is to continue my family line, with the woman I care for more than my own life." the hentai monk proclaimed, blushing gently, trying his best to hide his crimson cheeks, failing horribly.

"You mean.. you love me?" Sango asked shyly, looking still into her pillow, not being able to look at Miroku unless he gave her a straight answer.

"Of course I love you. From first sight. And, I didn't tell you, because if I died against Naraku, I couldn't know that it pained your heart to lose someone who loves you." Miroku said almost calmly. He'd never been so.. noble.

Sango turned to the monk, blushing intensly. "I would have felt pain regardless. I love you as well, Houshi-chan.." she said, using her little 'pet' name for him, as she almost always did.

Miroku slowly scooted nearer to the demon slayer and let his lips meet with her's slowly, which was greatly appreciated by the receiver of the kiss. "I love you." Miroku said as he pulled away.

"And I love you. Now.. let's go to sleep.." she said, patting the spot next to her blanket as she prepared to lay back down.

Miroku grinned and began to remove his upper robe and Sango reached over, slapping her hand gently over his cheek. "Not tonight." and with that, she went to sleep.

"B-but..." he muttered. Sighing, he pulled his blanket and lay it next to Sango's, curling up next to her and falling asleep.

Sango's last words shocked, the monk, though. "Tommorow night."

*The Well, Warring States Era*

"Jyaken.. are you sure Inu-Yasha made his way down there?" Sesshoumaru asked, looking at the small demon which stood beside him.

"Aye, m'lord! The staff has said so!" Jyaken said matter-o-factly.

"If you are wrong..." Sesshoumaru warned as he slowly made his way down the well, followed quickly by the small creature.

When Sesshoumaru landed on his feet, he found himself at the bottom of the well. "Jyaken.. once we leave this well, you shall lose your head." he tells the creature as he leaps out of the well, only to be shocked by what he sees, and more over, smells. "That house. Inu-Yasha.. and more importantly.. Tessaiga. Jyaken, come, we shall take what belongs to me." the one armed full Youkai called. "And, without an arm, I suppose I'll just take my dear brother's..."

"Aye, m'lord. Inu-Yasha will pay for taking what should be your's!" the imp proclaimed.

"We go..." Sesshoumaru said moving closer to the house.

Inu-Yasha instantly froze as he smelled the scent of his brother. Kagome had once more fallen asleep. Kissing her lips gently as he broke from her embrace, Inu-Yasha opened her window and leapt out of it, Tessaiga at his side in it's sheath. "Sesshoumaru... I know why you've come. For my blade, correct?" Inu-Yasha questioned, placing his right hand over the hilt of the blade.

"Of course, brother.. and I wouldn't mind that arm..." Sesshoumaru said, smiling gently.

"Well...I've got two words to say to that..." Inu-Yasha responded, pulling Tessaiga from it's sheath, the rusted katana instantly becoming the fang of the two warriors' Father.

"Oh?"

"FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!"
