“Promise me!”
“I can’t do that!”
“Promise ME!!!!”

~*~*~ Tokyo, Japan. 2020 AD. Two Months prior to "Code: Extinction" ~*~*~*~

"I am so late!" Kagome ran down the street, hurrying to work. She was nearly always late, thanks to her new boyfriend. "I'm gonna kill him!" She ran another two blocks, narrowly dodging the dozens of people that blocked her path. She pushed a lock of her wavy hair behind her ear as she tried to keep up her speed. Government training was paying off.

"Miss? Excuse me miss?" Kagome stopped abruptly and turned. The voice was robotic, they didn't know better.

"Yes?" She asked calmly.

"You seem to have dropped your wallet, Detective Higarashi. I am guessing by the security clearance, and chemical make up of your body that is, that I am correct in saying this is yours. I am an older model and my programming is not as sharp as the new makes. Am I correct? Have I assisted you?" Kagome took the wallet from the Robot. A small name imprinted on him read "Akito 7".

"Yes Akito. Thank you." Kagome smiled to him and turned to continue on her way to work.

"Mr. Sasaki I am sorry I'm -"

"Late. You're always late Higarashi. If you weren't such a damn good Detective I'da fired ya years ago!"

"Yes Sir." Kagome sat down in the high-backed chair and put her feet up on the table. "What've we got today?"

"Seems the corp. is preparing to test their biochemical weaponry on humans. I don't like the sound of this."

"Mr. Sasaki, the government has been testing biochemical viral weaponry for years. Even before the Roswell incident."

"Roswell?" Mr. Sasaki asked.

"Yeah, Roswell, New Mexico back in the nineteen seventies. Didn't you study your American History? Big alien cover up." Before Mr. Sasaki could answer Kagome had stood up, and begun walking around the room, while continuing her speech. "What makes you think that this is so horrible? We finally have the technology to test on humans successfully. We are just doing what every other country is doing, only we are doing it better. After all," Kagome pulled out a thick manila folder; "we are the United Federated Territories."

"What's the folder for?"

"Personal." Kagome sat down at the desk once again, reading through the contents of the folder.

"Boyfriend?"

"You're quick." She replied, never looking up.

"What's he using you for this time?" Mr. Sasaki began laughing.

Kagome stood up, holding a gun to her superiors’ head.

"Whoa Higarashi calm down."

"He is not like that! Not this one!"

"I got you!"

"I detect negative energy. May I be of assistance?" A UFTRC Model 2-4-7-1 with the name 'Motoharu' walked into the office.

Kagome lowered the gun and packed away the contents of the folder.

"Negative Motoharu. Commence regular programming."

"Yes Detective."

"Thank you." Kagome went to the computer and began typing.

"There was a murder." Mr. Sasaki interrupted.

"Where?"

"The body was found at the corner of street 'T' and 'E'. Some of it anyway." Mr. Sasaki put his hand to the computer screen and began finding a file of his own. A picture of a crime scene guarded my law enforcement officers, and scattered pictures of a body appeared on the screen.

"Lovely." Kagome said sarcastically. "Witness? Suspect?"

"Negative."

"Leads?"

"Looks cannibalistic. We can rule out suicide."

"No, really?" Again Kagome was sarcastic.

"No leads, no witnesses, no suspects, and no sign of this happening in the last ten years. God bless him." Kagome downloaded the files on to a microchip, which she stored away in her briefcase.

"I'll be in my office." She announced as she turned to leave.

"Coffee Detective?"

"No, thank you Motoharu."

"I'll have some." Mr. Sasaki spoke up.

Kagome walked passed the robot and to her own office. Her office was located on the thirty-second floor and she had an excellent view of most of Tokyo. On days like this day, when the sun was barely shinning, she like to watch the bright lights on the highway, that seemed to be never ending.

"Good Morning Detective." She smiled to Fuka; each detective had their own personal Robot. After all, the UFTRC* were supporting most of the TPD*

"Good Morning Fuka. You may deactivate."

"Yes Detective." The robot then turned off.

Kagome uploaded the files she had taken from her superior. She began searching the digital images for clues of any kind. After hours of thoroughly examining each and every aspect of the visuals, and case she thought of only one thing.

"Fuka."

"Yes Detective?"

"Can you tell me the fastest way to the corner of 'T' and 'E'?"

"Of course detective." A screen appeared on the robots chest and he began outlining the most accurate and direct route to the predefined location. "Simply take this window, down to the ground; follow through the adjacent building -"

"Fuka."

"Yes?"

"That I could accomplish with out putting myself in harms way."

"Of course detective. Take the subway."

"Thank you Fuka." Kagome packed up her belongings. It was nearly noon; she would be out the rest of the day. "That will be all Fuka, deactivate."

"Good Night Detective."

"Good Night Fuka."

Kagome locked her office door and walked toward the parking garage.

"Higarashi where are you goin?"

"The only way to solve a crime is to go to the scene Sir. See you on Monday."

"Higarashi!"

Kagome ignored him and walked into the garage. "Audi" fifty lights lit up fifty different Audi cars. "Blue" twelve lights lit up twelve blue Audi cars, "Dark Blue" two lights lit up two dark blue Audi cars, "Registered to a Higarashi, Kagome" one car remained. Kagome unlocked the car and got in.

"Hello again Ms. Higarashi. Where are we going this time? Would you care for some music?"

"No thank you VIRA*. We are going to the corner of 'T' and 'E' please." Kagome decided to ignore Fukas suggestion, and instead drive.

"Yes Ms. Higarashi."

Kagome came home at six, threw her keys on the table by the door, and walked into the living room. Once she settled in (simply by removing her shoes and sitting on the couch), the lights came on.

"Nice timing." She muttered. "I could have been dead by now. Thanks."

"There's something wrong with your electrical Ma'am." A voice spoke up from behind her.

"So you're the one who changed the programming on the lights?" She turned around, sitting on her knees and facing the back of the couch.

"No Ma'am. I am but a humble burglar." A mop of silky silver hair rose from behind the couch, attached to a beautiful young man.

"Is that so?" Kagome reached behind her back and pulled a magnum off her back belt holster. "Maybe I should kill ya, whaddya think?"

"Not such a good idea Kagome." The boy rose and jumped over the back of the couch, landing next to Kagome. "How was work baby?"

"Ugh." Kagome stuck her tongue out and turned around on the couch. "There was a murder, apparently cannibalistic. It was pretty straight forward, but there isn't even a smidge of clue to be found. I spent nearly five hours at the crime scene today. Of course, I had to stop for lunch I was starved. Anyway, so I really don't know what to do, I mean without a clue I can't get a lead, and without a lead I can't get a suspect, without a suspect all I can do is wait for another crime. I hate waiting, you know I hate waiting."

"Kagome. You're babbling again."

"Sorry Yash." Kagome kissed him on the cheek. "How was your day?"

"Okay. I think my arm is doing better." Yash, as he was called, moved his left arm in a circular motion, demonstrating its strength.

"That's great. I am happy to hear it."

"I wish I could go back to work. I am so fucking bored."

"I know Inuyasha." she put her hand on his lower thigh in a comforting motion. "Soon though. That arm will be as good as ever in no time. After all the UFTRC put it together for you." Kagome smiled brilliantly.

Inuyasha began laughing, "How much do you get paid every time you say that?"

Kagome chuckled too. "I wish I got paid every time I said it."

"I made dinner." Inuyasha announced.

"Well what are we doing sittin' 'round in here?" Kagome jumped off the couch and walked into the kitchen, Inuyasha close behind her.

"Mmm, is that leeks? Yummy!" Kagome jumped up and down before settling at the table. Inuyasha started at her. "Oh, you expect me to serve myself?" Kagome stood up, covering her smile, "I come home from a hard day of looking at blood and guts, and chewed up limbs and you want me to serve my own dinner. What is the world coming to?"

"Shut up." Inuyasha threw a cleaning rag at her and she caught it, laughing with him.

A chiming interrupted the sound of the pair’s laughter and Kagome reached into her pocket, "Detective Higarashi."

"Higarashi, there's been another incident. Well, many actually. It's quite tragic. You should probably get down here."

Kagome gave Inuyasha a look of pure sadness before replying into the small cellular telephone, "I'm on my way."

VIRA - Virtual Incorporated Robotic Assistant (That one took me a while. I don’t know why. I wanted it to sound like a name and an anagram!) So those are my abbreviations!
Short and to the point. So this is my newest story. Just please have faith that I will update as soon as I can (with all my stories) and that I am going to work just as hard as I can! - most of my inspiration is coming from Miho Obana right now *Even though she doesn't know it* So thank you!!-
