Are you leaving?

Kagome awoke to the bright lights searing her face. It had to be after 9, there was no way the sun could be hot so early in the morning. Stretching, she moved the covers and felt a blast of cold air hit her from the a/c. She shivered in the contrast. She ran a hand through her hair and snagged a knot. She cursed under her breath before padding across the warm carpeting to the door. Opening it cautiously, she looked down the hall way to the direction of her mother's room. Should I go this early? Deciding against it, she turned back into her room to prepare for the day.

Breakfast had already gone so she picked up something from the kitchen. Biting through a blueberry muffin, she rummaged through the fridge for an apple. It had been a while since she rode any of the horses so she decided to at least see them one more time, just in case she left tomorrow. She most definitely couldn't bring them with her. She couldn't believe she was actually considering Inuyasha's crazy idea, but then again she'd done a lot more crazy things with him. In fact, she couldn't think straight since she met him. Smiling to herself, she headed to the stables.
“Hey kagome.” A familiar voice interrupted her thoughts. She stood out by the stables deciding which horse to visit first. She spun to see Collin walking towards her from outside the stable house. He walked leisurely towards her tilting his hat to hide the sun. “It's been ages since I saw the likes of you these sides.” His accent was coming on slightly strong but Kagome had become used to that, as annoying as it was.
“Hey Collin.” She smiled lightly. She had to admit, she was going to miss him too. “I just came to give this apple to the horses.”
“Don't spoil them too much; it's me who has to take care of them after you leave tomorrow.”
She chuckled a bit.
“I won't... All though I might not be leaving at all.”
“Really? Well that's cool. You can come to school with me.” He laughed at his own lame joke. “But why would you stay here instead of going home. What purpose do you and your family has here?”
“No. It would be just me. My mom and Brother would go home.” She shifted slightly.
“Really? Why?” He lifted his hat to show his puzzled expression.
“I can't tell you that! At least not yet.” She smiled playfully.
“Well does your mother know?”
“I'm going to tell her now.” She threw the apple she held at him. Before walking pass him. Suddenly she stopped. “You know, if I stay, maybe I will go to school with you...” She ran off.

“Mom?”
“You're finally up!” Her mother sat in the lounge going over some last minute flight details. “Are you going to finish packing today or did Mai finish it?”
“Actually, I wanna talk to you about that.” She nervously ran her hands down the side of her designer jeans. Her mother looked up from the pile of papers in her lap. A worried look flashed across her face.
“What is it? Are you okay Kagome?”
“No... I wanna stay.”
“Stay where?” Her mother looked genuinely puzzled.
“Here! In America.” She said slowly.
“Why would you want to do that?” She asked, her voice quivering.
“I have my reasons...” She twisted her hands together. “But look at it like this, America makes up for more than a quarter of our profits. I could stay here and manage this sector instead of people you hardly know. I'm old enough now and I know the business.”
“What about school?” Her mother frantically asked.
“I'm 18, I'll be graduating soon and since I've always been home schooled, I could just find a tutor here and...”
“To teach you your Japanese curriculum?!” Her voice had become high and whiney.
“Well, we can just bring over my old tutor! And anyways mom, I want to go to a normal college. Just think about it.” Kagome lowered her voice. She didn't want to upset her mother anymore than she was already was. Her mother just stared at her with a horrified expression and her mouth agape. Soon she blinked and swallowed loudly. She breathed loudly and in deep breaths.
“What is the real reason you want to stay? It can't be the independence because you have a lot of that already. So what is it? If it's the company you want to run you can help run the division with me in Japan.”
“No mom.” She sighed and sat on the arm of the chair her mother was sitting on. “I met someone.”
Her expression softened a bit. Kagome continued. “He's Sango's older brother, Inuyasha. He was at my party but you probably didn't notice him.”
“Why didn't you tell me about this before?” She asked.
“I wasn't sure what was happening with me and him so I kept it to myself. Well Sango knows but apart from that, no one does.”
“But what does he have to do with your staying here? Did he promise you something?”
“Not really. It's just that over the summer we became really close and last night he told me that...” she hesitated. “that he loved me, and I think I might feel the same way. I just wanna see if we can make it work but being half way across the world doesn't really prove anything.”
Her mother opened her mouth to protest but then closed it again. Kagome hated the silence but it stretched on as her mother was deep in thought. It took a lot for her to come out to her mother like that. She didn't even know that she was having sex to begin with.
“You know,” her mother began. “I got married to your father on a whim. I had only known him for around 6 months before he proposed to me. My parents were really against it but I really loved him so I went against their will and did it anyways. So don't think I don't know where your coming from. I do.”
“So you'll let me stay?” Kagome asked hopefully.
“Times have changed since then Kagome.” She rose from her seat. “Things aren't the same anymore. I'll let you know later.” She walked stiffly away, her heels echoing deafeningly on the marble tiles.

She cut the engine of her Mercedes and opened the door. Reaching over to the passenger seat, she grabbed a small bag before hopping out. Walking up to the familiar door, she rang the buzzer once. Sango opened the door and grabbed her into a bear hug.
“You're leaving tomorrow!” She wailed, tightening her grip on Kagome.
“I....can't... breathe....” Kagome struggled before Sango released her and smiled sheepishly.
“So what's in the bag?” She questioned eyeing the small bag Kagome had. She stepped back inside to allow Kagome to come in.
“It's actually for you. It's the matching charm bracelet I said I would have gotten for you.”
“Awww! I'm so gonna miss you!” She wailed loudly as she took the bag from Kagome. At the same time Inuyasha came down the stairs.
“Stop making so much noise Sango!” He spotted Kagome a smiled slowly. “And go put on proper clothes.”
Sango looked down on herself to study the pink big tee and white socks she wore. “Sorry...” She bounced upstairs. Inuyasha studied Kagome standing at the door. She turned and closed the door behind her before she returned his stare. She wore blue jeans with a white tank top and white slippers to match. Her hair was kept out of her face by a white band and she wore only lip gloss. In her ears were a single pair of white diamond knobs and then, the most important thing she wore, was the necklace he had given her for her birthday. He wore only beige cargo pants. He was both shirtless and shoeless. His silver hair ran effortlessly down his shoulder to his lower back, framing his defined muscles. Kagome felt shivers. She couldn't believe this hunk of a man had just told her he loved her less than 12 hours ago and she was actually considering staying in a foreign country for him.
“Hey you.” He smiled at her. A wide smile painted itself across her face as she blushed.
“Hey yourself.” She walked over to him as he walked to meet her half way. When they reached in the center of the living room, He enveloped her in his arm as she lifted her head to his for a kiss. It was one of those unspoken things where even though they had seen each other in the wee hours of the morning, they still missed each other. She poured herself into the kiss and felt him do the same until they pulled apart.
“Say it again...” She whispered as she stared intently into his deep liquid amber eyes.
“I love you Kagome. I really do.” He stared back into hers. She moved back in for another kiss before Sango who stood at the top of the stairs interrupted them.
“That's so cute!” she spoke in a baby voice.
“Don't you have to go meet Miroku?” Inuyasha growled.
“Why yes, yes I do. She disappeared again.
Kagome pulled herself out of his arms and walked over to the kitchen. Inuyasha trailed behind her.
“Did you discuss the matter with your mother?”
She opened the refrigerator and bent to look for something. The blueberry muffin wasn't as filling as she had previously thought. Moving a box of leftover Chinese, she spotted a box of gourmet chocolate cookies. Taking it out, she closed the fridge door with her knee. She was so comfortable at his place now, she could eat without asking.
“Well, did you?” He questioned again, still trailing after her like a starving puppy.
“Yeah I did. Like 20 minutes before I came over here.” She bit into a cookie. A long silence stretched on as Inuyasha waited on her to continue but all she did was stare at him and munch on her cookie.
“And?!” He pounded his fist on the marble countertop in frustration.
“And what? That's it, I asked.”
“What was her reaction Kagome?!” Inuyasha wanted to shake the answer violently out her as she sat their contently with the cookies, his cookies to begin with.
“She said she'd tell me later.” She bit into another cookie and looked lazily at him.
“You know, you really are a bitch... You do know don't you.”
“Did you just call me a bitch?” She put the cookie back in the packaging.
“Did I stutter?” His eye glinted mischievously.
Kagome chuckled lightly under breath as if to challenge him. Turning slowly to face him, she sailed a cookie at him. It hit his forehead and crumbled on impact. His mouth opened in an expression of shock. Kagome laughed as the crumbs clung to his hair and eyebrows, then feeling remorse, she walked over to him and brushed the crumbs away. “I'm sorry... but you called me a bitch. Coming from you, that hurts.” She pouted slightly.
“Let me make it better then...” He kissed her pouted lips before pulling her into him. He ran his fingers through her hair and slowly yanked her head back to reveal her neck. There he moved from her lips to her neck.
“Inuyasha...” She moaned softly. “Don't pull my hair.”
She reached up to his hand and removed it from her hair before entwining her fingers within his. She lowered her lips back to his and nipped at his lower lip with her teeth. She could feel him wince slightly at the sudden shot of pain, but he only squeezed her hand slightly. Now Inuyasha could feel the ripples of pleasure roll down his spine as she pushed herself closer to him. He took his free hand and wrapped around her waist and attempted some more to pull her closer to him. He broke the kiss and placed tiny butterfly kisses on her cheek to her forehead, before nuzzling her hair. Once again she smelled like vanilla and a hint of lavender water. He still held on to her fingers as he swayed gently with her.
“You do know you have to meet her.” Kagome suddenly said.
“Your mother?” Inuyasha stopped swaying abruptly which threw Kagome off. “Why?”
“She wanted to know my reason for staying her so I told her.”
“Everything?” He asked as he pulled himself away from her, but not breaking the hold on her hand.
“No, not everything. Just the important stuff. She seemed mostly disappointed that she had never met you. So you're going to officially meet my mother today.” This time, she slipped her hand out of his and folded her arms. “So go get dressed in something really nice that says `big shot restaurant owner.'”
Inuyasha just stood there looking rather stupid while Kagome smiled brightly. At the same time, Sango came bouncing down the stairs in a baby blue halter top and blue jeans with sneakers. She wore her hair down and had on oversized sunshades, despite the weak intensity of the sun.
“Sango...” She groaned to her friend. “Can you please tell him to go put on proper clothes to meet my mom?”
“Meet your mom? What's going on?” She looked from Kagome to Inuyasha and back at Kagome again. Kagome wasn't sure she wanted Sango to know about her dilemma yet so she simply shook her head.
“Nothing. I just want him to meet my mom before I leave. You've met her before so I want him to meet her too.”
Sango looked at him again. “Yashi, stop being stubborn and go put on some clothes.” She walked to the table by the door and picked up her keys. “It's only fair Yashi. When you met Miroku, he had to dress real fancy for you. Do the same for her.” She opened the door. I'll call you if anything. Be good.” She blew a kiss at them both before bolting out the door. Soon after, the engine of her Honda was heard retreating down the driveway. Inuyasha looked down disapprovingly at her before he turned away to get ready. He just couldn't say no to her.

Inuyasha tugged at his pants. He hadn't worn this kind of get-up since he started his restaurant and even then he didn't like it. He wore a pale green short sleeved button shirt, black pants and a black pair of leather shoes. His hair was neatly combed back in one and braided-- yes braided, down his back; courtesy of Kagome.
“Stop fidgeting. You look fine.” Kagome opened the front door to her home.
“I'm not fidgeting. I'm uncomfortable. I feel silly.” Inuyasha groaned.
Kagome ignored him and gently pulled him in.
“Mom?” Her voice echoed in the empty foyer.
“She's not here.” Inuyasha quickly offered. “Let's go.” He spun to leave but Kagome grabbed him by his braid.
“Sit boy...” She laughed as Inuyasha grumbled under his breath. Kagome called out to her mother for a second time and this time, she got an answer. Heading to the library Kagome cautiously opened the door. The library wasn't much of what one would call a library. It had about three shelves spanning the entire four walls of books arranged by electronic catalogue but that was it. After that, it was just another excuse to have a huge projector screen set up in the house. Her mother sat in one of the many oversized armchairs that filled the room with her head buried in her laptop. Kagome poked only her head in the room.
“Mom, you busy?”
Her mother looked up from her notebook. “No. What is it?”
“It's just that I wanted to introduce you to someone.” She opened the door and stepped in, bringing Inuyasha with her. Her mother's eyes seemed to follow Inuyasha as he walked over to her and offered his hand. She could immediately see why her daughter was enamored by this man.
“Hello. I'm Inuyasha.” His amber eyes glinted and his white teeth sparkled.
“It's nice to meet you Inuyasha.” She took his hand and shook it firmly.
Inuyasha smiled as he slipped his hand out of hers. Kagome's mother didn't look much like her. They shared the same hair and eye colors but bone and facial structure completely differed. Her face looked tired.
“Same here.” He chirped not wanting to create an uncomfortable silence. He snuck a look at Kagome who stood a way off from them looking rather uncomfortable.
“And you're the young man who has Kagome taking up some farfetched responsibility?”
Kagome coughed softly and stepped in to intervene but Inuyasha stood his ground.
“That would be me.” He smiled proudly. Kagome's mother smiled back obviously impressed with his ability to stand his ground.
“Please sit. It makes me feel weird that I have to look up to you. You too kagome. Sit.”
Kagome and Inuyasha chose to sit in a love seat, overstuffed as were the others. It was rather appropriate for the position they were in. “How old are you Inuyasha?”
“I'm 22 right now. Is that a problem?” His face furrowed slightly.
Kagome really wanted to say something but she didn't want to ruin anything.
“Are you guys thirsty? Let me get some drinks. I'll be back.” Kagome hopped out of the chair and disappeared through the door. The roles had been reversed as she was now the nervous one instead of Inuyasha. Inuyasha watched her disappear before returning his gaze to her mother.
“I'm not that much older than kagome. So I really don't think age should be a problem.” Inuyasha commented confidently.
“No no. I was just wondering. You look rather mature for your age.”
“I guess you could say I had to grow up before I needed to.”
She looked intently at him but didn't further the matter anymore. She only smiled.
“How exactly did you meet my daughter?” She asked.
Inuyasha paused. He wasn't sure if she should hear the real story. He ran his hand over his starched pants.
“I met her in the woodlands that join the back of our house, she was… uh, riding and I spooked her horse.”
He smiled innocently as her face contorted into shock. “You spooked her horse?”
“She fell.” A look of horror fell over her face as Inuyasha realized that her mother wasn't aware of that particular incident. “But I took care of everything, no worries. But it was then that we began talking. Well not that well but she and my sister really got talking and she kept on coming over so I guess something happened.” He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly as the horrified expression on Mrs. Hiraguasha's face gradually faded away.
“She had been disappearing all summer with Sango but I never imagined a guy in the equation.” Suddenly she paused. “She also spent a lot of nights over by Sango's… While you were there.” She looked keenly into Inuyasha's amber eyes. “Are you two having sex?”
At that time Kagome walked back into the room with a tray with three glasses. She nearly spilled the lemonade at the utterance of that question. She quickly placed the tray on a nearby table and sat down to Inuyasha's agape look of shock.
“Mother! That is not an appropriate question!”
“No it is not. If you two are planning to basically live together—“
“We're not going to live together!” Kagome blurted out angrily.
“Who knows what you'll be doing if I leave you here.” Her mother calmly replied.
“So you think I'll be here fucking away my life?!”
Inuyasha placed his hand on Kagome's shoulder to calm her. “Stop Kagome.” He calmly looked at her mother. “No we are not having sex. And if we were, I promise you, we'd both have too busy of lives to let it control us.”
Kagome looked to her mother who was obviously pleased with his answer, before she breathed a sigh of relief. She never expected that little lie from Inuyasha but it did save her ass.
“Well,” Her gaze shifted from Inuyasha to Kagome. “you may not be responsible but I can see that he is.” Slouching back into her seat behind her laptop, she mumbled. “It was really nice to meet you Inuyasha.” Making sure that he got the message that this meeting was over, she began typing again. Kagome rolled her eyes and stood up. “I'm going over Inuyasha's. I'll call.” She pulled on Inuyasha hand for him to come with her. Standing up, he coughed uncomfortably before being dragged out the door, and out the house.

“Well that was a total waste.” Kagome revved her engine at a stop light. She adjusted her rearview mirror as Inuyasha fiddled with his shirt again.
“I think that went rather well.” Inuyasha commented to try and lighten the mood.
“Shut up…” She sped off at the light.
“Kagome. Calm down. It really wasn't that bad.” He tried to soothe her.
She sped up a bit more until Inuyasha began to hold on to the dash board. “Will you calm down?! It's not bad. She never said no…”
Kagome slowed the car to a throttle before pulling over. The engine idled.
“She might as well had.” She rested her head on the steering wheel. “I knew I should have never gotten my hopes up… She never lets me have my way when she knows she has the power to restrain me. Why'd you even talk me into this?” She scoffed under breath as if she was totally disgusted with him. Inuyasha knew he should be quiet. “You don't know how I feel. You can always move on to someone else but I've never opened up myself to anyone or even my mother like that. And then to have it slapped back in my face…” She sighed. “Where should we go? It's our last day together.” She looked at him with a pitiful expression. Inuyasha smiled.
“You want me to drive? I'll take you somewhere.”
Kagome smiled before putting the car in park. If she only had one more day with him, she'd enjoy it to the most.
* * * *

Kagome stopped at the gate of Inuyasha's driveway. The radio was off and now that she cut the engine of the Benz, she could hear the night insects chirp their music. She was almost afraid to unlock the doors and let him go.
“So what now?” She queried, tapping her finger on the steering wheel.
“Now,” Inuyasha offered, “I go home.” He placed his hand over the handle of the door and attempted to open it only to find that the door was still locked. He turned back to her and motioned for her to open the door. She threw him a harangued look, pleading with her eyes for him to stay. He only smiled. “I'll come by in the morning to see you off… Later.” He leaned over and placed an innocent kiss on her cheek before manually opening the door and stepping out into the cold night. Kagome watched him walk up the driveway before he disappeared into the house. She had never felt that lonely in her life before. She didn't want him to go at all but she could see he was having a hard time with this too. He had taken her out to the local botanical gardens where they had an impromptu picnic there before he carried her to the late movie where they just hugged. Kagome felt the tears tugging at her but she wasn't going to let them win. She hadn't really cried since her father's death and she didn't plan to start now. Breathing deeply, she drove off heading to her own home.

Inuyasha plopped himself onto one of the kitchen stools and opened a can of beer. Taking a deep gulp he closed his eyes and rubbed his temples.
“Inuyasha?” A soft voice called out.
He turned to see his sister peeking from behind the wall that separated the kitchen and the living area.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
“Yeah. I'm good. Just a bit tired.”
She came from behind the wall and sat down on the stool next to his.
“Kagome just called me. She told me to make sure you were okay. She sounded really depressed.”
“She did? Well she did look really sad for most of the day.” He sighed with the weight of the world.
“She also said to tell you...” she paused thoughtfully. She couldn't see his face on account that the only light was the one in the living area and it didn't reach to the kitchen. She could only make out the silhouette features on his face. She continued. “To tell you that she loves you and she'll never forget you.”
He took another deep swallow of his beer, seeming to finish the can. “Why didn't she tell me that to my face? Why'd she tell you and not me?”
Sango shrugged but realized he probably couldn't see her. “I don't know. Maybe she couldn't face you without crying.”
“She was crying?” He asked sounding alarmed.
“Not really. Her voice was breaking but I don't think she was crying.”
There was a silence as he drained the rest of his beer before getting up.
“It's late. Get some sleep. I'll be going to the airport with Kagome in the morning.” He left Sango sitting in the dark as he walked away.

Inuyasha stepped out of his car at the top of Kagome's driveway. The whole scene looked like a construction site with big trucks loading. He didn't see anyone familiar for a while until he saw Kagome's mother. She waved to him and pointed inside to direct him to Kagome. He smiled back and jogged up the stairs to the house. There he saw Kagome standing at the bottom of the stairs waving to her little brother.
“Sotta! Will you hurry up?”
Inuyasha came to stand beside her. “What time is the flight?”
She turned to him. “You came…” she hugged him and turned away. Inuyasha admired her physique in her tight blue jeans, her brown boots and her green long sleeved shirt, obviously welcoming in the autumn. He also admired her because it would be the last time he was seeing her.
“What time is the flight Kagome?” He asked again.
“In the next hour and a half which is why I'm trying to get Sotta moving. And can I ride with you?”
Inuyasha looked at her puzzled. “What do you mean?”
“As in can I drive with you to the airport?”
“Sure. More time with you.” He replied sadly.
Kagome smiled before running up the stairs to her brother's room.

Inuyasha peeped at Kagome from the corner of his eyes. She was too quiet. Maybe it was a defense mechanism but it was creeping him out. He directed his attention back to the road and the line of trucks in front of him, being led by a black stretch limo carrying Kagome's mother and brother.
“You're awfully quiet…” He mentioned.
“I'm just thinking how much I love the scenery.”
“Last time I checked, you said it was just dirt.”
“I know…” She traced a heart in the fog on the window. “I guess it grew on me.”
Inuyasha didn't know what she meant. “Are you delirious?”
“What do you mean?”
“Last night you looked like you were on the brink of tears and now…”
“I did what I had to. I couldn't change anything so I have to deal with it. Simple. And I don't cry.” She slouched in the leather seating of his Mercedes.
“That's not what Sango said.” He replied succinctly.
“She was mistaken.” She turned to the window again. Inuyasha couldn't figure her out. She wasn't being sad anymore. Well at least his final memories of her would be cheery and not sad as he had prepared himself for.
After an almost two hour ride, they arrived at the airport. Kagome shimmed on a warm parka and opened the car door. “Well come on.” She urged.
“Wait kagome.” Inuyasha held on to her hand. “I really don't think your mother will approve of me kissing you in public so I have to do it now.”
Kagome looked at him before blushing deeply and sitting back down. She leaned over and offered her lips to him. He leaned in and kissed her slowly. Soon he wrapped his hand in her loose hair and pulled her closer, exploring the deep crevasse of her mouth. She moaned slowly as he nibbled on her bottom lips, sucking the strawberry lip gloss she wore. His hand traced her cheeks with a single finger all the way down to her neck. He fingered the necklace she wore—the one he bought for her. He felt her lean into him more as she got more into the kiss, but Inuyasha pulled away.
“Let's go. Don't want you to miss your flight.”
She looked at him with a glossy expression before she turned and opened the door.
“Yeah, the flight.” She stepped out. Inuyasha followed. He noticed that some of the trucks had driven away in another direction.
“Where are they going?” he asked.
“You really can't expect a passenger plane to carry all my shit…”
He sighed when he realized that was the truth. He slowly walked with her to her mother, his chest swelling more and more with the insurmountable urge to throw her over his shoulders and run. As the luggage was checked in, Inuyasha stood nervously and watched the scene unfold. Kagome seemed to be just mulling by, not caring that he was about to die.

And then, it was time. Kagome walked slowly behind her mother and her brother to the boarding gate. Her mother stopped and smiled at Inuyasha.
“I hope to see you again whenever I come back for vacation.” She embraced him politely then stepped back. Sotta smiled politely and looked from Kagome to his mother. Soon he stepped up to Kagome and hugged her, her mother did the same. Inuyasha looked puzzled for a second before Kagome hugged him.
“Bye mom, later Sotta.” She smiled.
“What?” Inuyasha looked positively lost.
“Didn't she tell you?” Her mother chimed.
“Tell me what?” He turned to Kagome.
“I'm staying.” She stuck her tongue out in a childish manner.
Inuyasha looked at her flabbergasted for a second before smiling politely and stepping back to give the family some time. He watched Kagome hug her family one more time before the PA system chimed the final boarding call. When they went through the gate, Kagome came bouncing back to him.
“I don't understand…” he shook his head.
“Last night when I came home, my mom called me into her room. I guess my saturnine expression helped with her decision but she told me that this was a really good learning experience for me and that she saw that you were a responsible young man and that she trusted that I could take care of myself here. It just an experiment though. She's coming back next summer to see if I've crash and burned, but I get to stay!” she squealed the end of her sentence in excitement.
“What about living arrangements and school and stuff?”
“Yeah, I thought I was gonna just be overseeing the business but she actually pulled some strings and got me into college already. So I'll only run the company on the weekends. I'll get a pay check and she'll wire me money every month until I can really support myself.”
“But I saw them move out your stuff…”
“No. You saw them move out my mom and Sotta's stuff. My stuff is still at home. My car is still parked in the garage, that's why I asked if I could ride with you. Are you happy or what?”
Inuyasha stared at her intently for a full minute as the whole world passed the two of them in the airport. Kagome's smile grew wider and then suddenly it hit him.
“Kagome! You bitch!” He laughed and grabbed her into a hug twirling her around in the airport lobby. “You're staying here! With me!” He planted a huge kiss on her lips as soon as he placed her down, then he shook her. “Don't do that to me again!” Kagome only smiled and hugged him back.
“I knew you'd react like this.” She kissed him again. “And I love you for it, now let's go home.”
They began to walk to the exit of the airport. Inuyasha put his hand around her. “You know, that house is really big and empty for you to be there alone. Maybe I should move in…”
“Whoa. Slow down big boy. One step at a time Inuyasha.”
“So there's promise?”
They walked out of the airport together happily, happier than they had been in the last couple days. From the moment he had met serendipititously at the lake, the fights and the wickedly awesome sex, they both knew there was something there, and now it was all coming to fruition. It really was worth it.
“I'll think about it Inuyasha. Really, I will.”
