Cold November Rain (or Sing in Silence) Part Two
A Songfic by Inu Hanyou Nikkie
Kagome went up into her room slowly, almost reverently, and entered her room. Once there she looked about her room taking in every detail so she could carry the memory with her as she passed on. The pink of her walls, the Plushies she got from old friends now long gone their separate ways. . . To the newer one a plushie of an anime character with long silver hair, gold eyes and soft furry silver puppy ears given to her by a blushing and fidgety InuYasha at the gentle urging of Kikyou.
The pictures of herself smiling and laughing with a grumpy InuYasha and a sparkling Kikyou. That was only months ago and yet it felt like years. Had Kagome actually pinched InuYasha's bottom and innocently said he had sweet cheeks? And how he was flushed with embarrassment from the girlie shriek he uttered causing a collected Kikyou to miss a step fall over and laugh until tears flowed. Or of the various Theatre productions and stage parties they all went to and the Gallery exhibits where they dressed in their finest. Kagome had been alive then. . . once. . .
The deep purple and light purple suede throw cushions. Her pink comforter - how odd that a puffy blanket be given a title that is shunned for her?
The corner with her Art supplies and sketches in varying stages of progress, all of which having a coating of dust on them as her love and soul for this was dead. Her computer with its black colouring. . how fitting. . .
Cannot shake the monkey off your back
Did I see a spark on your eye
Was it just the last light of hope
Did I see a spark on your eye
Was it just the last light of hope
That died,
hope that died
Her mind was made up. She was broken, so very and completely broken. She thought someone would have at least noticed the changes in her mannerisms, in her lack of talking now the missing laughter. . . she thought that painting would have alerted someone anyone to come to her when she couldn't reach out herself.
"Forgive me, Father, my daily sin..."
But it mattered no more. . . she mattered no more. . . she was the mistake that God made, the freak that needed to do the world and herself a favour. She had been told this so many times by her `friends' that it had to be true. InuYasha said he had something important to tell her on the weekend. Most likely that he hated he too. . . after all isn't what everyone else has been saying to her for months? That he hated her as well. . . She couldn't bear the thought of him laughing at her as he told her he hated her. . . and Kikyou had told her to go and spend the day with him that she'll be fine as she had to get ready for another production coming up. Kagome was worried that she had done something wrong if Kikyou didn't want to hang out with her and InuYasha like they normally did.
How can I forgive you, never leave you
You know that if you live like, you will die like
Haven of Emotion, Mournful Ocean
Heiress of the Evening Sings in silence
You know that if you live like, you will die like
Haven of Emotion, Mournful Ocean
Heiress of the Evening Sings in silence
Kagome didn't even notice the tears that fell from her eyes wetting her cheeks as she got out her bottle of Tylenol 1 - her migraine medicine. Half of one would make her sleep away a day. . . so would it be ten that would let her slip away from this world of unending pain and tears?
Taking the bottle to her desk where she kept a bottle of water, she sat down and pulled out her diary. This would be the final entry. And she wrote. And wrote and wrote. . .
She wrote about how awful she was.
She wrote about how much of a mistake she was. . . that God didn't want her. . .
She wrote about how work was telling her she was a failure.
She wrote about her parents being burdened by her presence. She was worthless. . .
She wrote about how much of an outcast she is. . . she never fit in anywhere. . .
She wrote about how her Art and writings aren't even worthy of pigs.
She wrote about how free InuYasha would be once she was gone and how relieved he most likely be to know Kagome wouldn't interfere with him and Kikyou.
She wrote. . .
. . . the ink in the pen turning in her mind from the soft blue to the crimson of her spilled blood. . .
"I need to have now, my daily sin..."
Kagome begged for forgiveness for all her perceived sins that she committed by existing. She did say that she wasn't sorry for not dropping Kikyou as her friend. That she was a great and deeply cherished friend. Kagome wrote that she was sorry she made everyone miserable. She asked that everyone smile again once she was gone.
For all your life I prayed for time
To show you where the light lies
Now this is the end
One rose for the memory of lifting the sin...
To show you where the light lies
Now this is the end
One rose for the memory of lifting the sin...
Kagome's tears wet the pages of her diary as she wrote but the ink miraculously didn't run as it came repeatedly close to the wet spots. Drowned too deeply in her sorrow and depression Kagome didn't notice the phone ringing as InuYasha and Kikyou each tried calling her - they had uneasy feelings a need to speak with Kagome that drove them crazy.
She finished her writings, nearly completing the remainder of her diary. She paused for a moment and wrote one final thing. . . .
I love you, InuYasha. . . my dear heart, my beloved love. . .
"I know, my Father, I cannot win..."
They tried so many times to reach Kagome until finally they raced to their cars and breaking speed laws raced to their dear friend's home. Each of them urging their cars faster the streets empty of traffic as if they must reach their destination without obstacles. It felt like hours, weeks, years until they both screeched into Kagome's driveway one right after the other leaving the doors wide open as they dashed for the door. Slamming it open, they charged inside and up the stairs tripping and banging limbs on the steps. They hurried down the hallway only to stop and see with disbelieving eyes the still form of their dearest and sweetest friend lying upon the floor of her room. The chair having been knocked over, her cordless phone resting against the limp hand. . . .
Kagome had been trying to reach the phone to call 911. . . she had changed her mind. . .
. . . but it was too late. . .
They were too late. . . by only minutes. . .
Never will forgive you, never leave you
You know that if you live like, you will die like
How can I erase your pain and aid you
When Death wants to kiss you and you want to kiss Him back...
You know that if you live like, you will die like
How can I erase your pain and aid you
When Death wants to kiss you and you want to kiss Him back...
A couple of months later, Kikyou was back in the same cemetery where she had bid farewell to her friend Kagome. And like last time it was softly raining; only this time it was to say goodbye to her brother in soul InuYasha. He couldn't bear the guilt of not doing anything to prevent Kagome's death and not wanting a life without her by his side he choose to join her in the afterlife and taking his own bottle of medicine with a bottle of rum ended his life.
Kikyou said nothing but silently cried and silently seethed with rage. . . all this tragedy. . . all because some immature fuckers couldn't act their fucking age and leave a gentle loving soul alone because they didn't approve of who she cared for, for who she was and whom she was friends with.
Kikyou remained at the cemetery taking it all in until finally a plan formed in her. She would use this and she would shove it down those fuckers throats and made sure they choked on it. She left roses, lilies and irises upon the graves laid out side by side as per InuYasha's wishes and with Kagome's family consent. She said prayers and vowed that justice would be served. Turning she left the cemetery and headed to her destination to put her plan into action.
Many months later Kikyou was at a book signing session for her newest and first novel ever published. The line up for her readers was incredible and every one of them was touched deeply by her tale. She wrote about the cruelties that humans inflected upon each other, of meeting a special rare soul, of a love story destroyed in it's fragile blooming infancy by too cruel and shallow humans. It was made the number one best seller lists of all times. Kikyou had also made it into a cutting and gripping stage play that was currently running on Broadway.
Kikyou was expecting awards from so many organizations but none of it mattered to her, just her message. . . if you care about someone and you feel there is something wrong. . . get involved.
