Chapter 3: Playing Nurse and Late Night Confessions.


“Inu…” Kalen sighed. “Why did you have to get in a fight? He really wasn’t worth it.” He hissed as she dabbed some hydrogen peroxide on his cuts. “I’m sorry but I’m gonna clean this cut up before you go anywhere. You aren’t going to be able to see to walk down the hall with the blood in your eyes.”

“Feh! He looks worse than me. You’re not taking care of him though.”
‘Thank the gods!’ Inu thought.

This earned him a light smack upside the head. “Wench! What was that for???”

“BAKA! Of course I’m not taking care of him! Let’s see…Inu and Kouga are hurt. Who should I take care of?” Se had her palms up and was tipping them like a scale when she said this. She tipped them completely and with the hand that went up, she smacked his head…again.

“WENCH!”

“BAKA! Why would I take care of him? I don’t care about him! I care about you! Damnit! Now shut up and sit still. I still have to clean this last cut.”

Stunned, Inu shut his mouth and stared as she cleaned the last cut on his face. He watched her intently as she cleaned up the bloodied bandages and washed her hands. As she turned back to him, she brought a clean towel to his cut to wipe off the excess hydrogen peroxide. He let her, then grasped her wrist as she went to turn away. “Inu?” “Kalen…” he breathed, standing and pulling her to him. Surprised she fell into him flush against his chest, his arms folding around her and steadying her. “Inu?” she questioned again, her voice huskier than before. He stared at her lips as she said his name. As he closed the distance between them, he murmured, “I love when you do that.”

Before she could question him, his lips were on hers. She gasped (well as best she could) and immediately relaxed into the kiss.

As his lips moved over hers, she could feel his warm breath against her lips. She half sighed/moaned against his lips. His keen hearing picked it up and he pulled her closer, continuing his gentle assault on her mouth and senses.

Reluctantly he pulled away, still holding her close as he gazed down at her and watched for her eyes to open. As he held her close, she sighed and began to open her eyes. Soon they were gazing into each others eyes, both searching for…something in the other’s.

“Kalen…” “Inu…” they started at the same time. He chuckled and picked her up, carrying her into his bedroom. “Kalen, maybe we should talk.”
“In your bedroom??? Just what is this ‘talk’ going to include?”

Chuckling he set her on her feet after kicking the door shut and asked, “Are you always this paranoid?”

“Well, one minute I’m cleaning your cuts, the next you’re kissing me, and then the next I’m being carried into your bedroom to ‘talk.’ Please tell me what I’m supposed to think!”

“Kalen please, let’s just talk. I just wanna talk to you, but I want to do it privately. I feel better in my bedroom than the living room in case Sess or Miroku come home.”“Oh. Sorry.” Kalen said as she smiled sheepishly. They were both quiet for a moment before she asked, “Can I ask you something?”

“You just did.” Inu chuckled. Kalen hit him lightly on the arm. “Yeah, go ahead.”

“Why were you fighting with Kouga?”

Inu sighed and ran his hands through his long silver hair. “Well, in a nutshell…you.”

“Me?” she squeaked.

“Yeah. Kouga said he had laid claim to you and I challenged him.”

“What do you mean you c challenged him?”

Again he sighed and said, “Well, it’s basically I told him you were mine and if he didn’t back off he’d have to fight me for you.” Inu looked down at his feet, sure she was going to rip him a new one. Needless to say, he was surprised when all she did was ask, “So did you win?” He snapped his head up and looked at her confused. Seeing her looking straight ahead with a look that would make Sess seem emotional, he sighed and looked back at his feet. “Yeah, but I don’t expect you to…”

“Good.” She cut him off, the rest of what he was planning on saying lost as he looked at her, confused, the question evident in his gorgeous golden eyes. She turned to face him then, smiling softly and laid her hand on his. “Thank you.” she whispered.

“You…you don’t mind???”

She sighed softly before answering him. “Well, I’ve always wanted two guys to fight over me, and I don’t really understand what it means now that I’m ‘yours’, but maybe if you explain it, I’ll understand and I won’t have any reason to be upset.”

He looked at her and thought. ‘What’s it gonna hurt to try? If I don’t tell her she’ll be mad, but if I tell her she might be but she might not be. Oh what the hell. At least if I tell her I have a shot!’

“Inuyasha? You still with me?” Kalen asked, squeezing his hand. He sighed and squeezed her hand back. Slowly he looked into her eyes and started.

“Kalen. You have to promise not to flip out on me ok?” At her nod he continued. “Well, see, Kouga and I aren’t like you, Miroku, Sango, and Kagome.”“What about Sess?”

“He’s like Kouga and I. Kalen, Kouga, Sess, and I are demons. Well, they’re full demons and I’m half-demon. My mother was human.”

“Oh! So what does that mean then? Cause that still doesn’t answer my questions.” She was looking him in the eye and then he sighed and dropped his eyes from hers.

“It means that Kouga had a claim on you and I challenged it. By demon law, you are now mine and anyone who wants to ‘mate’ you or even court you has to ask my permission first. Basically, to demons at least, I own you. You belong to me. In reality, all it means is that you’re safe from other demons as long as I’m around. I mean, I know I’m supposed to own you and all, but really I just wanted Kouga to leave you the hell alone.”

“So you fought with Kouga over me so he didn’t have a claim on me anymore? And now you do, so I’m under your protection…like family right?”

“Well, like family or a mate, but basically yeah.”

Kalen looked at him then and saw him looking down at his feet miserably. She smiled and said, “I can live with that.”

His head snapped up. “You’re not mad???” he asked incredulously.

“Of course not. Why would I be? So…you’re a half-demon and Sess is a full demon huh? Doesn’t that make you half brothers or are demon genetics different?”

He smiled softly and said, “Yeah. We’re half-brothers. We have different moms. When his mom died in childbirth, our dad flipped out. Sess got sick a few years later and everyone thought dad would lose it completely if Sess died too. Anyway, my mom was a nurse and came in and took care of him and stayed ‘til he got better. I guess dad fell in love because eventually they got married and here I am. Sess doesn’t really like that mom’s human, and that dad married her, but he does respect her for saving his life, so I guess they’re on neutral ground. I’m not his favorite person either, but most brothers don’t get along, so the only difference is that we can cut each other up and not kill each other. Like he could take me. Feh!”

Kalen laughed lightly at his arrogance. “So why do you look the same then?”

“We don’t. What you see is an illusion that Kags and Miroku taught me.”“Oh! Well, can I see what you really look like or is it just way different?”

“It’s not a whole lot different.” he said as all of a sudden his ears went to the top of his head and turned into little puppy ears and his claws and fangs grew. Kalen gasped and Inu closed his eyes. “I understand if you can’t handle it Kal…” He was cut off by her hands gently rubbing his ears.

“So you’re a dog-demon then?” she asked as she continued to rub his ears.

“Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm……..” he moaned. Kalen giggled and dropped her hands to her lap. Inu whimpered, then opened his eyes to look at her.

“Inu, can I ask you a question?”

“You just did.” She glared at him and he laughed. “Yeah, go ahead.”

“Why did you kiss me?” Suddenly her hands were very interesting.

“Sorry, I…” he started.

“Don’t be sorry. Just tell me why.”
He shrugged. “Seemed like a good idea at the time.” Now his hands were terribly interesting as well.

Suddenly she grasped his now clawed hand in hers and he looked at her with a question in his eyes. “It was…it is a good idea Inu. As long as you still want to. I mean, if you don’t want to that’s ok. I mean…” At his squeeze of her hand, she looked at him. He gently cupped her chin in his hand and slowly brought his head down to hers.

“But I want to.” he whispered just as his lips met hers. She closed her eyes and draped her arms around his neck. She nipped at his lower lip and his demon blood surged, even as she ran her tongue across it to soothe the offended lip. He slightly opened his lips and used a combination of his tongue and fangs to coax her lips open as she shuddered in pleasure. As they deepened the kiss, her tongue found his fangs and lightly ran over them.

As she found the tip of one of his fangs, it slightly punctured her tongue causing her to bleed slightly into his mouth. As Inu was exploring her mouth, he tasted blood. His demon blood boiled and he wrapped his arms around her tighter, pulling her closer to him as he started to devour her mouth.

Reluctantly, she pulled away for air, and Inu started trailing his tongue and lips over her neck and shoulder, paying special attention with his tongue to the juncture of her neck and shoulder. She threw her head back giving him full access to her neck. If his demon blood wasn’t already raging, it was now with that simple gesture of submission. His chest rumbled with an inaudible growl.

Her hands went to his shoulders as he pulled her into his lap, straddling him. She captured his lips again and they started another wildly passionate kiss. His hands left her hips and started trailing up her sides, but stopped just before her breasts. He continued to run his hands on that same path as she ran her hands idly up and down his upper arms, feeling the play of his muscles under her fingers.

“INU! Yo man! I’m home! Kalen! Is he still alive? Better, how about conscious?”

Tearing his mouth away from hers, Inu growled lowly. “Miroku’s gonna die.” Kalen smiled at him as she pushed him back on his bed as she got off his lap and ran her fingers through her tousled hair.

“We’re in here Miroku!” Then she hefted his legs onto the bed and whispered, “Just play along with it.”

Miroku walked in just as she was pulling the comforter over Inu. “Sango’s here Kalen, whenever you’re ready.”

“Thanks Miroku. I’ll be there in a minute.”
Miroku left them alone then, his eyes twinkling mischievously as he reached Sango and said, “You’re never gonna believe this.”

Back in Inu’s room, Kalen got him tucked into bed and brushed his bangs out of his face. “Do you need anything else?”

He grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. “You.” Kalen smiled and kissed his forehead softly and rubbed his ears. “At least a goodnight kiss?” Inu whined.

Kalen laughed softly and bent down to his lips, intending it to be a chaste kiss, but Inu had other ideas. He licked her lower lip and grazed it with a fang causing her to shudder. She immediately opened her mouth to his questing tongue. Inu could feel his blood boiling and as they broke for air, he sighed. “Goodnight Inu. Sweet dreams.”

“They will be. Dreams of you. Goodnight Kalen.”

She smiled as she closed the door to his room and went in to the living room. “Sango, ready to go?”

“Yep. See ya Miroku.”

Miroku chuckled, and went to bed.

When the girls got into the car, Sango said, “Spill. Now.” There was no room for argument.

So I know it took a lot longer for the update then I originally said and for that I am sorry, but things got a little hectic. I barely had time to eat and sleep, much less update. But here it is. The next chapter is started and won't be posted unless I get someone who wants me to continue. Please read and review. Once again, sorry for the delay! (OH!
