Chapter 2: A Little Piece of the Past

They eventually camped in a clearing a couple miles away from the place of the accident. Well if you call a hanyou distracted by his former lover and not protecting one of the people they all loved an accident.

Kagome was still ignoring Inuyasha and because of that she stayed a reasonably safe distance away from him. If she was even a foot close to him she was sure she would kill him. Every now and then she would give him a suprise sit out of no where and he would not even call her a bitch because he knew it wasn't the time to argue and he kinda knew he deserved it.

He just watched her from a safe distance and wished he could comfort her and make up for everything he did. But he knew by the anger radiating off of her that she would bite his head off if he came anywhere near her.

Sango and Miroku were sitting on the other side of the fire away from Kagome. They had forgiven Inuyasha about what happened but they still were pretty mad at him.

They all watched Kagome as she stared off into space.


She had been sitting away from them for the past couple of hours. And she regretted ignoring them but she just couldn't face them. It was to hard to see them watching her with concerned eyes.

They said they understood what she was feeling but none of them knew. She had just lost a son.

This wasn't suppose to happen. She wasn't suppose to fall in love with a hanyou. It wasn't in the plan she had. She was just suppose to release him from the tree and find the jewel to lift it.

To lift and take away the curse she had, had since she was born. When ever she got mad she could feel it under her skin begging to get out. Begging to make her what she really was. But she had concelled her self for years now. She hated what she was. People would always shun her and make fun of her because of what she was.

Years later Kagome had started searching for the jewel but found the only way was to free the hanyou Inuyasha. She shouldn' t have done that. The pain of loving Inuyasha was to much.

As she laid down in her sleeping bag, clutching Shippo's bow, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was coming for her.

Little did she know that her companions felt the same way.


When Kagome woke up the next day she found everyone still asleep. She had decided last night that no matter what she would act like nothing happened.

She smiled when she saw Miroku subconsciously reach towards Sango's ass. As if it were a reflex Sango hit him with her boomerang and he went back to his original position just to try again five minutes later.

Kagome looked for Inuyasha in the trees and was suprised to find him not there. She frantically looked around and was suprised to find him lying right next to her. What suprised her was that his thumb in his mouth. He looked like a sleeping puppy. She forgot she was mad at him and knelt down by him.

She cupped his face in her hand and stroked his face with her thumb. Kagome then moved her hand towards his ears. When she started scratching his ears he started purring.

She was shocked when he opened his eyes and stared at her. Kagome was in the process of pulling her hand back but stopped when spoke.

"Why did you stop? That felt good." he leaned his head into the hand on his head.

"Are you awake?"

"What do you think, wench?"

Kagome pulled her hand back.

"Well sorry, Princess. But you usually don't let me pet your ears when your awake."

Inuyasha sat up and stared at her face that was only a couple of inches away from his. She blushed slightly.

"So your saying you don't do it when im awake but you do when im sleeping."

"Exactly.... I mean..that... uggg" she turned around and was about to get up when Inuaysha pulled her into a hug. After a while she timidly rapped her arms around him like he was doing to her. She was so confused.

"Im sorry"

"What?"

"You heard me, wench"

"Wench! My name is Kagome. K-A-G-O-M-E!"

"I know I just like to tease you." that certainly shut her up.

"..."

"Im sorry for what happened."

"..."

"I should've protected you and Shippo but..."

"I know. Don't worry. I forgive you."

"I wish I could bring him back. The little runt kinda grew on me"

"Me too. But... he's gone and we can't always dwell on the past. He is gone."

Inuyasha sensed her coming tears and started to stroke her hair.

"So your not mad at me."

Kagome hesitated for a second but she knew she couln't stay mad at him. She was loving something she couldn't have. But no matter what she was going to act normal.

"No. Everything's okay"

Inuyasha felt a great pressure lift off of him. Kagome wasn't mad at him anymore. Everything would go back to how it was.

Kagome started to get up. Inuyasha hesitantly let her go.

"I think I should start breakfast." she walked over to her back and got out a pot to boil water in," But there's one thing that I want to know Inuyasha."

He watched her as she walked to away from him and headed towards a small river on the other side of the road they camped near.

"What?"

"Do you know that you suck your thumb when you sleep?"

Before she could hear his answer she felt a familiar presence approach at a incredibly fast speed. Her first thought was that it was Kouga but all those thoughts flew out of her mind when something tackled her.

"Kagome," she heard Inuyasha yell.

When she opened her eyes she was staring into beautiful bright green eyes. When the person on top of her slightly lifted himself she instantly recognized his face. A smirk was gracing his mouth.

"Omi"

"Good to see you to, Kagome"
