Kagome trembled in place, trying to figure out what she'd seen. What was it about those traits of Inyasha's that she remembered? She couldn't put her finger on this new feeling, but it was very confusing. Extremely mind-numbing.
She had to go get advice.
Dressing up quickly, she called for Sango. The woman arrived promptly and Kagome ordered her to talk to Miroku to accompany her to Tsubaki's. She didn't want to go alone, now that she'd seen what people did to Inuyasha. She wouldn't admit she was scared, though.
Miroku appeared in the hallway and they both set to Tsubaki's.
After a while she found herself in the rather familiar hallway of Tsubaki's house.
One of her servants came to greet her. He had a thick moustache and she rolled her eyes, remembering Naraku's words.
“I want to speak with Tsubaki,” Kagome announced, trying to be as careful with this man as possible.
“She is not here,” he spoke with a bow, a sly grin tugging at the corner to his lips.
“Yes, she is,” Kagome argued seriously. “I need to talk to her,” she told him again.
“Very well,” the man said, a little annoyed and went to retrieve the house Lady.
When Tsubaki appeared on the stairs, Kagome saw how tired she looked. Her beautiful eyes were clouded and she had weird-looking bags under them. Her stance wasn't that imposing anymore; she seemed exhausted.
“What happened to you, Tsubaki?” Kagome asked.
“Nothing to be afraid of, dear. I have just had a lot of meetings lately. It is very strenuous. To what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you here?” she said with a wide smile when she finally reached Kagome and pulled her into a crushing hug. “I am so glad to see you,” Tsubaki declared. “During those tough meetings you cannot help but wish you had a friend with you,” she confessed and Kagome smiled.
“I have something to tell you, Tsubaki.”
“Oh?” she raised an eyebrow.
“I have met someone. His name is Inuyasha Taisho,” Kagome told her and Tsubaki almost flinched. “He was injured last night and I treated his wounds, but I saw something that puzzled me greatly.”
Eyes wide, Tsubaki asked, “What did you see?”
“He had silver-white hair, liquid amber eyes and some sort of dog ears on his head,” Kagome confessed, turning her back at Tsubaki, who was clenching her fists.
“A-are you sure?” the woman asked with barely concealed surprise.
“Yes, but it was only for an instant. I might have imagined it.”
“I am sure you imagined it darling. I mean, who would have dog ears?” Tsubaki asked with an amused giggle.
“No. No, I think not. I know what I saw,” Kagome declared, turning around to face her again.
“Well then, this Inuyasha is a weird person, it seems.”
“Yes, he is. He… that is to say… declared his love to me,” Kagome admitted shyly.
“Oh, you serpent!” Tsubaki exclaimed mirthfully. “While I am away, you collect young men, do you?”
Kagome flushed immediately, her eyes wide as her hands raised to her defence. “No, nothing like that. And the word is not collect, really. I does sound rather… um…”
“Oh, sure,” Tsubaki said with a laugh. “I don't think you can convince anyone, sweetness.”
Suddenly, something shone on Tsubaki's hip and Kagome frowned in bewilderment. Tsubaki stiffened and covered the place with her hand.
“Dearest, you should go back home. I am extremely tired,” Tsubaki urged with a hurried smile. “I shall come by to chat more when I recover,” she promised and Kagome nodded.
“Well, then. Get well, Tsubaki,” Kagome wished her and hugged her slightly.
Tsubaki forced a smile, which she dropped as soon as the visitors were out of the house. Hurrying, she went upstairs to get dressed.

“What are we going to do now?” the shaking voice of Audrey echoed across the dungeon.
“I have no idea. We must figure something,” Caroline stated sombrely.
“All right. But… I have no idea what exactly. Let us face the fact, ladies,” Kaede spoke gravely. “We really have no chance of escaping. As much as we want to help poor Kagome, we cannot do anything. It is not in our power anymore; we might have had a chance before, but now… it is practically impossible.”
“Don't say that,” Jane whined. “Never say something like that. I am not going to die in such a stinky dungeon.”
“Well, then. Do you have any ideas that you might want to share with us, Jane?” Caroline asked sarcastically.
“Yes; as a matter of fact, I do,” she declared proudly.
“Why didn't you say so, you darned child?” Lady Caroline's voice drifted across the darkness.
“Because it is crazy and because I have been trying it instead. I have small hands and wrists, as you all know since you make fun of me all the time, and I have been trying to slip out of the chains, but it is very difficult.”
“Well done, child. Keep trying. If you do succeed then at least someone will get out of this mess and warn Kagome, even though I fear it would be too late,” Kaede said.
“I am almost done, I think. That is why I wanted to tell you of this plan. Supposing that they don't come to check on us, I might be able to escape and bring help, although I don't know who I should bring to work against wizards. This might be a dilemma,” Jane admitted.
“Ask Miroku to come. Even though he probably remembers virtually nothing by this point, he will be able to help us, I am sure,” Lady Caroline said. “Now shut up and get out of those chains, Jane.”

“Doomed, did you hear me?” the woman shouted at her lover.
“Calm down,” he urged, trying to focus on the task at hand. He was preparing a potion yet again.
“But you just saw it! How can you stand still and work your little magic there? This kind of magic is not helping now, you idiot!”
“Shut up, woman! If you cannot keep your mouth shut, leave the room this instant!” he bellowed at her.
“Fine. Do as you see fit. I am out of this game,” she declared, turning on her hills, but was surprised when she couldn't walk. “You bastard,” she hissed when she realised she had been immobilised.
“You cannot get out of the deal. You are in this just as deep as I am. Now stay here and face the consequences. Maybe you even want to help for a change!”
“Fine. All right. What do I have to do?”
“Help me with this potion.”
“Tell me what it is for,” she said before sighing.

“Miroku? Darling, what is wrong?” Sango asked worriedly when she saw her husband double over in obvious pain, clutching his right hand. She hurried beside him, holding him in her arms as he continued to grunt.
She wanted to scream for help, but her voice had long ago gone away as she was miserably watching her husband suffer greatly.
Suddenly, he straightened up and his eyes went wide.
“Run, Sango!” he yelled and she debated the order for a second, but decided to do as told.
Miroku was afraid for the first time in his life. Not daring to look at his right hand, he felt a pressure that wouldn't go away. It seemed as if his hand tried to pull everything around inside it. He felt it tremble and the furniture in the room started to shake as if there was an earthquake. He realised this had to be a curse and hurried to the night table to retrieve something.
Yes, he'd sworn to give up his Japanese monk habits when he came to England, but this was a matter of life and death. He took out some beads that he wrapped around his hand, covering his palm with the long sleeve he had. Before he did this, though, he saw something that frightened him enormously. There was a black hole on his palm that seemed to be sucking everything in its way. It even swallowed a vase of flowers from the night table.
Miroku couldn't control it without the beads.
~*~@~*~f~*~
“What was that?” the woman asked in puzzlement.
“I am trying to eliminate all threats, darling. And Miroku is a huge threat. I just didn't realise he would find a way to contain it. But it is no problem; the hole will grow bigger and bigger, until it will suck him in, too. Imagine that. Very interesting curse, don't you agree?”
Her eyes shining with delight, she nodded grinning.
“Now what shall we do about Kagome? She can already see past Inuyasha's concealment charm. This was not supposed to happen. You said that was out of the question from the beginning.”
“Yes, well… it seems I was wrong,” he admitted.
“You seem to be wrong too often, darling,” she commented and he glared at her.
Their relationship was weird, she had to agree. They were both powerful and great wizards, therefore they didn't dare defy one another. They didn't love each other; they didn't even desire each other enormously. It was all a fleeting passion. But they needed each other for this one. They were in this together; it had been their collective idea.
“I have to agree that this little problem complicates things, but it doesn't have to be something to deter us. As long as we get rid of every single threat, things will be fine. I will send you to give Inuyasha more potions, so he could give Kagome one, too. And maybe even give Miroku one. I don't know… I think he suspects something. We might have to purge his memory once again,” the man said with a smile.
“I think we should kill the girls,” the woman suggested.
“Leave them for the moment. If they don't forget everything in a month, then we shall kill them,” he vowed. “No how about you continue to help me with the potion and stop taking breaks to look at yourself in the mirror. You are absolutely dashing, darling.”
“Fine,” she said testily and dropped the mirror, letting it shatter in a million pieces on the cold floor.

Inuyasha barely got to Kagome's mansion. He kept telling himself to be cool, but he was nervous as Hell. He wanted to get this over with. He didn't know how much longer he had to do this, but the point was, he wanted out of it. Out of the deal. But that was just for a second, because in the next moment he felt a refreshing endeavour.
As soon as he entered the house and saw Kagome descend, he smiled charmingly, bowing deeply.
“Thank you so much for what you did yesterday, Kagome,” he said.
Kagome blushed and mumbled, “It was nothing at all.”
“Oh, yes it was. You saved my life,” he said and bent to kiss her hand, smirking against her skin.
“Did I really?” she said with a smile.
“You did,” he replied.
She breathed deeply and steeled herself for what she was about to say.
“Inuyasha, I - look, will you come to the garden with me, please?”
He seemed a bit surprised, but followed her. She realised he'd tangled their hands together and was swinging them slightly as they walked. She smiled coyly, but didn't see the annoyance sprawled on his features.
They stopped at her favourite bench that brought such a sweet memory now. She took a deep inhale. She was going to do it. It was now or never. She had to tell him what she only found the courage to tell him while he was unconscious.
He looked at her impatiently, as she seemed to stall. Or maybe take her time; who knew?
“I didn't mean half the things I said the other day,” she admitted, letting out a relieved breath. It wasn't so hard to tell him what she felt. “I… fell in love with you and it scared me.”
His warm eyes pleaded with her to continue.
“I… I can't figure out how this happened so soon. I barely know you, and… but what I do know is that I feel uneasy because I have a husband -”
“Kagome,” he interrupted her. “Have you no recollection of the recent past?”
Her eyes widened. “H-how do you know?”
“Servants,” he merely answered. “Well?”
Her eyes downcast, she answered meekly, “Yes, I do not remember anything from the past.” She raised her gaze to watch his reaction and saw his eyes mollify, before hardening yet again.
“Then… do you really have a husband?”
“Yes. No… I don't know… He left me, I suppose. If you only knew half the things they've told me about my past self… I am not sure you would love me anymore. But I promise you I am not that woman anymore. I am different. New. And I love you, Inuyasha. I really do,” she declared and pulled him by his forelocks so she could kiss him. She was surprised to feel him resist, however, and she pulled back to study his expression.
“Wait,” he said hoarsely. “You… I…” He really didn't seem to know what he was saying. Out of the blue, he got up and left the garden in a frenzied hurry, leaving the stunned woman open-mouthed.

“This… was not supposed to happen,” the witch commented with a cocked eyebrow.
“Darn!” her lover exclaimed. “All Hells be cast upon him! The man is a plague!”
“I do not think it is his fault. It must be hers.”
The man turned to look at his lover with an inquisitive expression. “You would say you would take her side, not his… since she is a woman, like you. Why do you think she is guilty, my love?” he asked curiously. Her opinions were always somewhat extravagant.
“She has him whipped now, can't you see? She always did. That is why this plan is doomed to a pathetic end, lover. Because as much as you want it, you cannot prevent fate for too long; you and I both know it.”
“So what are you saying? That you knew this would be a failure from the beginning?”
“Yes,” she stated, nodding.
“Then why did you enter this deal?”
“For our bargain. Remember what you promised me, lover. Don't go back on your word. I shall help you as long as our deal still stands and I shall do everything in my power to make it work, even though I doubt it will. The odds are against us right now. You saw how he hesitated, didn't you? I saw it as well. It is not a good thing at all; I am sure you have already realised that.”
“Shut up,” he said, trying to deny everything she said. “It will work.”
“You know what? Fine,” she said sighing and helped him with the next potion.
