Under the Crescent Moon, Separated
Rin's body seemed to go limp and her heart skipped a beat. She breathed deeply to wonder if she had heard correctly. "D-did you say you want me...to STAY here, with YOU?" Sesshomaru looked at her calmly and she could tell how serious he really was.
"Well if you don't mind..." Rin's eyes lit up and she smiled brightly. "Of course I want to!" Sesshomaru eyed her with curiosity and shrugged.
Rin stood by him and gazed at the sky, and sighed with contentment. He had no idea how much this meant to her...was he finally coming around? She looked Sesshomaru up and down, waiting for him to say something.
He turned to her and looked deeply into her dark brown eyes, with his amber ones. Rin's face turned red and she stared right back. The look in his eyes made her shiver. It felt like he was seeing right through her...
Sesshomaru blinked and then sighed deeply. Why did he always sigh? "Sesshomaru-Sama...are you alright? You seem bothered by something..." Sesshomaru rubbed his temple and sighed again with exasperation.
"Yes Rin... it is..." Rin shook her head. "Is what? I don't understand..."
Sesshomaru growled and mumbled, "Never mind...it is nothing important." Rin felt her hands clench into tight fists at her sides and she bit her bottom lip to keep her self calm. Sesshomaru! Why won't you just tell me how you feel? You never have! And here I thought I was making some progress...
"Rin, tell me this...am I doing things right?" Rin made a look of confusion. "What are you talking about? What have you done wrong?"
Sesshomaru did not look at her.
"...What...do you think of me?" Rin stepped closer to him and wondered why he would ask such a thing. "I think you are amazing milord!" Sesshomaru smiled lightly at her happy voice.
"You do? Well...you are the first person to say that. Except for Jaken that is...and I don't give a damn what he thinks." She thinks I am amazing? Why?
Rin felt desperately to go and comfort him, but of course he would never allow that...from anyone. But he sounded so...sad. What was wrong with him?
"Sesshomaru-Sama..." Rin replied softly. Sesshomaru looked at her, seeming deeply bothered by something that seemed to be nagging at him every single moment. "Rin...you-
Rin smiled. "Yes?"
"...Should go to bed..." he heard himself say, and then frowned, cursing to himself mentally that he would end the conversation this quickly. Rin scowled.
"Go to...bed? That is all you wanted to say...well, okay, I guess I should be leaving then." Sesshomaru you moron! Sometimes you can be a real pain...
Sesshomaru winced by the disappointment in her voice and the angry glare she shot him. The demon lord had never seen her look so angry. "Good night sir." Rin barked, with her teeth clenched as she walked away.
Sesshomaru stood there, in a bit of shock. 'Why were you such an idiot? Why didn't you tell her! Damn your stupid pride!'
His demon side fought back. 'She will get over it...Rin is a teenager, why not let her sulk? Why was she so angry at me in the first place?'
The taiyoukai's eyebrows furrowed in worry. 'How will I tell her that I have to leave?'
'You've left before you idiot!'
'But this is different! Rin has never been through a war between youkai! As a lord, you have to fight! She will surely start doing one of her angry mood swings again if you tell her you are leaving!'
Sesshomaru decided, as he went up to his room. No, he would not tell Rin, it was best if he kept quiet and she waited for his return...
XOXO
Rin woke up the next morning, on her stomach and her blankets on the floor. She growled when she thought of the night before, when hope had actually risen. 'Rin...you know how he is! He is so arrogant! Don't expect him to say anything!'
She shook her head and washed her face, dressed into a plain floral patterned kimono, and hummed softly as she tied her dark hair back and then headed downstairs for breakfast. There were servants everywhere, but a strange feeling as she walked into the dining hall.
The place looked the same...servants were everywhere...Jaken was there yelling at them...but no sign of HIM. Rin frowned and told her Sesshomaru was probably in his study or something...
But at breakfast, he didn't show up...Rin looked everywhere she walked, looking for a sign of the graceful demon, but found none. She wondered if he was in his room or something, but she had checked there earlier.
She began to ask around, and no one seemed to know anything... "Kai...have you seen Lord Sesshomaru anywhere?" Rin asked the guard, with a worried expression on her face. The man shook his head dumbly and felt sorry for her.
"You look tired...no I am sorry, I haven't...but I will tell you if I do!" Kai grinned, trying to get a smile out of Rin who was always happy. Rin thanked him and walked away, heading to the last person she knew of. Jaken...
The toad demon was walking down the halls; doing absolutely nothing...Rin caught up to him and cornered him. "Rin...what is it? Can't you see-
"Jaken it can wait. Can you PLEASE tell me where Sesshomaru has gotten? I've searched the whole area! Outside, the library...asked people. No one seems to know!"
Jaken glared at her. "How would I know? He must have left as he usual...he never tells me anything." Rin picked Jaken up, but then dropped him. 'He is serious? What if Sesshomaru did leave? He wouldn't!'
Rin scowled. She refused, absolutely refused to believe he would leave without consulting her first. There was no way; he had to trust her...
