InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Cross Magic ❯ The Beginning ( Prologue )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha (Rumiko Takahashi), Harry Potter (JK Rowling) Negi-sensei (HP Doujinshi), or “The Tiger” (William Blake).

Kagome sat half-asleep in her English class while Negi-sensei lectured them in English about the proper context of certain words.

Negi-Sensei was an excellent teacher, his classes were always very interesting, and being perfectly adorable, for someone nine-years old, didn't hurt either. But Naraku's latest scheme that left her and her friends in the feudal era scrambling for their lives had taken more out of her then she wanted, so Kagome just couldn't stay awake

“Higurashi…” came a soft voice in her ear, causing Kagome to start as she met the ice-blue eyes of the sensei as he smiled down at her. Kagome blushed and rose from her seat.

“Hai Sensei.” She stated respectfully.

“Please translate this poem for us.”

“Hai.” She said and glanced at it. Luckily, she had manage to study a little English during her last adventure, and she just happen to know what it was.

“The Tiger.

Tiger, Tiger, burning bright

In the forests of the night;

What immortal hand or eye,

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies

Burnt the fire of thine eyes!

On what wings dare he aspire?

What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art,

Could twist the sinews of thy heart?

And when thy heart began to beat,

What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?

In what furnace was thy brain?

What the anvil? What dread grasp

Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears

And water'd heaven with their tears:

Did he smile his work to see?

Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tiger, Tiger, burning bright,

In the forests of the night:

What immortal hand or eye,

Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?”

“Thank you Higurashi. That was excellent.” The Sensei praised. Kagome blushed again.

“Arigotou, Negi-sensei.” She said.

“In fact,” he continued, “I believe you've earned a reward. Your work has been exemplary this entire term.” Kagome's blush, if possible deepened. Such praise! Negi walked over to his desk and pulled out a slim bit of paper.

“Two tickets to London for one week of winter break, as well as hotel reservations.” There was several gasps as Kagome took the tickets, going white.

“Negi-sensei…” She whispered.

“Please Higurashi. Go! Maybe the time away will help with your illnesses.” He said smiling up at her. Kagome nodded and carefully tucked the tickets into her notebook pocket, so they wouldn't get lost. In all honesty, she knew she could use a break from her double life…

But how to tell Inuyasha?

Harry Potter sat at the window in the Gryffindor dormitories, head leaning against the cool glass deep in thought.

It would be Christmas shortly.

Last year at this time, he'd had a godfather…

Harry stopped that thought in his tracks, a sigh escaping him. Sirius had been killed though. There was nothing to change that fact. Remus had invited him to stay at Number 12 Grimwauld place for Christmas. Harry had yet to respond to it, but he'd need to, and soon.

A sigh escaped Harry as watched the moonlight grounds of his school, the one place he'd ever felt at home really. He didn't want to go to Grimwauld Place, but Remus would be alone for Christmas. Plus Ron and Hermione would both be gone as well, Hermione to more skiing, and Ron to visit his brother Charlie in Romania, so it's not like he really had no good reason to refuse.

Grimwauld place just had too many memories of Sirius in it.

Harry breathed on the cold glass, watching as it fogged and cleared. No, he definitely didn't want to go to Grimwauld place, but he couldn't really refuse Remus alone over Christmas now could he? Especially after the way he'd stuck up for Harry in front of his relatives at Platform 9
