InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Crossroads of Fate ❯ Slap! ( Chapter 1 )
Chapter 1: Slap!
‘Okay she said head this way right? Oh I’m so lost. First day of school and I can’t even find my first class.’ Kagome thought to herself as she rounded another one of those numerous corners that seemed to plague the campus of the school. Deep into her thoughts she ran into a wall, well it was hard enough to be one. She backed up and looked the wall in the face.
“Watch where you’re going Kikyo.” he said in a gruff voice as he brushed past her and continued down the hall.
“Wait, my names not Kikyo.” Kagome said as she watched him disappear down the hall. “Damn!” she pulled a crumpled piece of paper from her pocket and looked at it for the fifth time that morning. She glanced around at the numbered plates on the doors of the classrooms and groaned when she saw the numbers didn’t even come close to the ones on her paper.
“What did you lose your brain this time?” the gruff voice asked her from behind. She turned quickly and found herself face to face with the teen from earlier.
“I am not Kikyo!” she burst out, the anger and frustration of getting lost taking it’s toll.
“Eh?” he asked dumbfounded.
“My name’s Kagome.” she said calmly trying to keep her breathing even. ‘Shippo, think of Shippo.’ she inwardly smiled at her little boy’s smiling face.
“Whatever.” he said as he walked off. Kagome shook her head and ran after.
“Wait can you help me?” she asked him.
“What do you want now?” he asked. Kagome looked into his violet eyes and saw all the torment, sadness and betrayal he must have experienced. ‘Damn my empathy! Damn miko abilities!’ since she was little she had always been able to feel the pain of others. After training with Kaede she learned to control her emotions so they would not effect others. She was also trained to keep from feeling others. ‘so this one must have been through a lot.’ she felt sorry and had a compelling urge to help him.
“Can you help me find these classes or at least point me to them?” she asked quietly. ‘he called me Kikyo earlier. Maybe this pain is connected to her.’ she handed him the crumpled paper.
“What did you do to it? Try to eat it?” he asked as he took it from her.
“No.” she said calmly.
“I’ll help. Follow me.” he said as he handed her the paper and walked off again. Kagome jogged to keep up. He stopped abruptly and she ran into him. “What’s with you and running into things?”
“What!?” she said as he smirked.
“This is your first class.” he said as he opened the door.
“Ah Mr. Takahashi you decided to grace us with your presence after such a long bathroom trip.” a short balding man said from the front of the class room.
“I’m sorry Mr. Myoga. But I found her wandering the halls. You know how easy it is to get lost.” he told him.
“Take your seat InuYasha.” he told his favorite pupil.
“Yes sir.” InuYasha said as he walked to the last row and sat next to his only friend, the womanizing pervert, Miroku.
InuYasha watched with interest as the dark haired girl watched the class with interest. ‘I smelt her before and she wasn’t a virgin, that’s why I thought she was Kikyo. She looks like her.’ He could also tell something dark had happened to her. He didn’t know how he could tell but he did.
“So what’s her name?” Miroku asked smiling.
“Don’t know and don’t get any ideas you pervert.” InuYasha said his concealed ears lying flat against his head. He held back a growl and the instincts that told him to tear the teen to pieces. ‘Miroku, I’ve known from childhood. 9 years ago his parents had died and he moved in with his grandfather, that much he told me. At the beginning of the year two weeks ago a new teacher showed up and a new student. His scent I recognized immediately and I went up to the teen and said, “Hey Monk.” my nickname for the pervert since he wore those priests robes for Halloween.’
“Chill out.” Miroku said as the teacher looked back at the class after talking to her.
“Class this is Kagome Higurashi. I expect you to be nice to her.” Mr. Myoga said as the class whistled at her. With his exceptional hearing he heard the teacher telling her to sit next to him.
“What did he say?” Miroku asked aware of InuYasha’s secrets.
“You’ll see.” he said as she walked toward the back. Miroku grinned and held her hand as she passed him. “Don’t.” he warned.
“Will you do the honor of bearing my child?” he used his infamous line. She froze and blinked. InuYasha watched as a flow of emotions quickly crossed her face. She then slapped him and took her seat.
She looked straight ahead and ignored the looks the class was giving her. Suddenly somebody began clapping and InuYasha knew who it was. The girl was groped and harassed by Miroku daily.
“You okay?” he asked her. She turned to look at him. Tears barely restrained. Miroku gulped as InuYasha narrowed his eyes at him. He wasn’t a football player for nothing.
