Chapter Three
Round,`round on fire rockets,
We roam around the sun…

Kagome frowned as she glanced around her hut. What should she bring? Looking at her small futon packed with clothes, packets of herbs and small daggers, the miko sighed as she then sat on the wooden floor tiredly.
`It is a four day ride with many youkai and thieves. Kaede-baba is right. Sango and myself are simple woman who are strong but not strong enough to take on both threats if they choose to attack at once.' She thought to herself.
Rising from the floor and gently wiping any collected dust form her red hakama pants, the girl exited her hut to her friends next door. “Sango? Sango!” She called to the packing Taijya.
A black and brown head poked out of the woven grass mat that acted as a door cover. Sango blinked in shock to see Kagome standing in front of her home with no luggage at all. “Do you intend on going so fast to the village and back that you pack nothing?” She asked incuriously.
Kagome shook her head, her blue eyes showing her troubled thoughts. “Sango-chan, we are ningen women are we not?”
Sango frowned as she stepped out of her hut, standing in front of her inch shorter friend. “Hai we are…or at least last time I looked!” The Taijya joked.
Kagome smiled a bit then frowned. “Sango I think this might be a bad idea…we are women facing thieves, youkai and many more dangers. We will surely be sought after by many dangerous people and creatures.” The miko sighed as she looked into her friend's now angry eyes.
Sango's shoulders then slumped. Turning to her hut, Sango sat on the wooden steps that lead into the simple home. Her chin sitting in her palm, the Taijya glanced at her apologetic looking friend. Bowing her head, Sango nodded sadly. “Hai. You are right, Kagome-chan. Kaede-baba is right. We should not even attempt such a ridiculous plan.” The girl murmured.
Kagome looked down at her heartbroken friend. Her blue eyes wavering, Kagome sighed. Turning, the miko froze. A smile then spread on her lips as her eyes light up with mischief. “Sango what do you say to a bit of….dress up?” The girl asked as her eyes light with tiny imps.
Sango raised her head then frowned at the smiling Kagome. “Kagome-chan now is not the time to be children. We must try to figure out a way to get to my village and back safely.” She scorned lightly.
Kagome hummed as she then skipped in front of the confused Sango, smiling even more brightly. “Sango-chan, I have an idea!” She announced enthusiastically, making the Taijya's eyes widen with surprise and curiosity.

Kaede blinked then frowned, causing her already wrinkled face to ten fold into many creases. “Higurashi Kagome ye are truly the most baka yet ingenious miko I have ever had the displeasure to train!” The elder woman muttered at the smiling girl.
The village girls gawked at the two `women' on their horses. Kagome straightened her back and grinned triumphantly at the glowering Kaede. “And you are the most annoying but yet grumpiest teacher I have ever had the misfortune to have!” She shot back as she then turned her horse around and started trotting from the village.
Kaede sputtered angrily as the village tried to contain their laughter. Sango merely coughed to hide her amusement as she then spurred her heels into her own mare, catching up with the giggling Kagome. “You truly do egg her on.” She scorned gently.
Kagome laughed and caught her friend's eye with her bright smile. “But she sets herself up, Sango-chan! She should know better then to spar with me!”
Sango gave a half grin as she looked at Kagome. Or should she say Yuko? Kagome had truly thought of the most ingenious plan ever thought of. The young miko had suggested that she and Sango dress up as young samurai men! Kagome had merely gone around asking the local wealthy village men for their best hakama's and haori's (which they had happily supplied) and had the metal smith give them some high quality armour and weapons.
Kagome had braided her hair into a simple one braid down her back. She had a pure white outfit on edged with blue dragons to match her eyes. A metal chest plate covered her breasts as metal coverings hid her feminine hands. A ken was strapped to the girl's waist as she wore a white face covering that covered most her face from her chin to her nose.
Kagome did make a handsome boy as she made a beautiful girl.
Sango glanced at her ridiculous outfit and raised a brow in amusement. Her breasts were tied down and she was covered with an all red out fit edged with white dragons. Her chest plate covered her to her hips, unlike Kagome's, and a katana was now strapped to her side. Her hair was covered with a simple helmet that covered her face in metal and only showed her eyes. They made a very convincing sight they did.
Sango rolled her eyes as her friend started practicing her `male voice'.
“Was that too deep? Did that sound too forced?” Kagome asked in her different voices.
Sango giggled at her paranoid friend. “Iiei, Kagome-chan! You sound fine. If I didn't know myself, I'd think you were a real man!”
Kagome grinned at that. Sango watched as Kagome's concealed face then turned serious. “We now call each other Yuko and Tora. No other names. We use only our male voices and we never become distracted. If one of us does not…” Kagome ceased and locked gazes with the calm, quiet Sango, “If one of us does not make it, the other living person will hurry to the village with no second thoughts. Understood?”
Sango nodded solemnly, her chocolate eyes now dark. “So ka.” She could only whisper as they glanced at the trail in front of them.
The two girls then halted their horses and turned to glance at the far away village. Breathing in and out calmly, Kagome lightly flicked her reins, pushing the mare forward. Her sapphire eyes almost black with anxiety, Kagome could only think,
“So the adventure begins.”
