Chapter 18

Finally…It's All Over

Everyone gasped as Kagome sucked in a breath and opened her eyes. She was kind of shocked that everyone was hovering above her. "What?" She asked in a weak voice.

"Your alive!" They all shouted. They hugged her all at once forgetting her weakened condition.

"I can't breath you guys." Kagome's muffled voice broke through them. They all let go but Inuyasha.

"Gods I'm glad your back." Inuyasha said. He gave her a bone-crushing hug. His eyes were still red and puffy from his earlier crying.

"What's going on?" Kagome asked.

"You died." Sango said with tears in her eyes.

"I did?" Kagome asked. "Then how am I alive now?"

"Sesshomaru brought you back." Rin said.

"Rin when did you get here?" Kagome asked.

"I'll make some food while you tell her what happened." Sango said. Rin joined her in getting some water.

"You were shot by an arrow." Inuyasha said.

"So then that means Inuki and Shippo are back?" Kagome said.

"Hai, we're right here." They popped up from behind Inuyasha. Kagome grabbed them and hugged them.

"I missed you." Kagome said. They hugged her back happy that she was alive. Inuyasha joined in later. No one had been able to celebrate their return because of what happened. Now they were back to being a family. And nothing would rip them apart again.

By the time they had eaten and the story was told for Kagome it was dark. Kagome sat in disbelief that Inuyasha had killed Kikyo. "I made sure she was dead this time." Inuyasha said.

"Hai, I saw the part of your soul she had fly back into your body before you died." Miroku said.

"I didn't notice that." Inuyasha said. Sango hadn't either.

"It was when I came back." Miroku said. "Everyone was too busy crying to notice."

"Everyone cried for me?" Kagome said.

"Hai, even Inuyasha." Sango said.

Kagome turned to him. "You cried?" She asked. Inuyasha was one of those egomaniac types of guys that wouldn't cry for anything.

"Of course I did you died." He said. He once again hugged her.

"Oh I didn't think you'd cry." Kagome said. "Arigato Sesshomaru."

"As I said earlier don't thank me, thank Rin I did it for her." Sesshomaru said. He walked away from the group.

Kagome got up but was stopped by Inuyasha. "What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm going to talk to Sesshomaru." She said and walked to where he disappeared. "Sesshomaru." She yelled hoping that if he heard her he would actually talk to her.

"Can't you humans tell when I don't want to be bothered?" Sesshomaru said when he revealed himself.

"I just wanted to thank you again." Kagome said. She saw he was about to open his mouth. "I know thank Rin not you. I know that you didn't just do it for Rin. You should tell her how you feel."

"What are you talking about?" He said.

"I mean you love her right?" Kagome said. "I know you do. Even though you try to mask your emotions you can't mask your love for her. I can see it in your eyes. She loves you too you know. You can see it in her eyes." Kagome turned to walk back. "Thank you again."

Sesshomaru stood in his place. Love? He didn't love anyone. Who was he kidding? He'd fallen in love with a human. A human, which he hated. He'd hated humans all his life and now he had fallen in love with one. (Ironic ne?)

Kagome walked back to the group. She was tired but she had to tell him that or it would bother her. She nearly collapsed on the ground. She would've if Inuyasha hadn't caught her. "Will you be careful? You still need to rest you weak." Inuyasha said.

"I needed to do something." Kagome said. Within minutes she fell asleep in his arms.

"She was trying to stay awake for as long as she could." Miroku said. "I noticed her movements earlier."

"Why didn't you say anything earlier bouzo?" Inuyasha snapped.

"She had such a determined look on her face to stay awake." Miroku said. "It seemed she needed to do something."

"Yeah well next time say something." Inuyasha said.

"Hai, hai." Miroku said.

The next day everyone packed up to go back home. Kagome sat away from the group with the jewel in her hand. Everyone watched as she sat cross-legged alone. Inuyasha was about to walk up to her but Miroku put a hand on his shoulder and shook his head.

Kagome had her eyes closed. She tossed the Shikon no Tama in the air. Suddenly the jewel glowed and streaks of light flew in different places. Everyone stood with their mouths open thinking she shattered the jewel once again.

"Kagome what the fuck did you just do?" Inuyasha yelled. He had regained his voice first.

"Sit." After she heard the thud she stood and walked towards the group. "I made a wish on the jewel."

After Inuki and Shippo jumped on Inuyasha he got up. "What wish?" He asked.

"I wished that the jewel was no longer able to hurt or destroy." Kagome said.

"Why did the jewel look as if it shattered?" Miroku asked.

"It went into the earth." Kagome said. "Since it won't do anymore harm it will help create."

"And what better way to do that then grow the trees and grass." Miroku said. He understood what had happened.

"So the jewel is no more?" Sango asked. Kagome nodded. "I'm glad."

"Me too." Kagome said. "Now we can live normal lives."

After saying goodbye to Rin and Sesshomaru everyone parted. Rin had promised to visit them sometime soon. The group headed for home once again.

"It feels weird." Miroku said.

"What feels weird?" Inuyasha asked.

"Being free of all of our duties." Miroku said.

"Knowing that we can live peaceful lives now that everything has been taken care of." Kagome added.

"It does feel weird doesn't it?" Sango said.

"What I don't get it?" Inuki said.

"I don't either." Shippo said.

"Hey what ever happened to Kouga?" Kagome asked.

"Yo."

Everyone turned to find Kouga behind them. "Where the hell did you run off too?" Inuyasha yelled.

"Well you all seemed to need a family moment so I left." Kouga said.

"You liar you smelled my scent and ditched them."

Everyone turned to the new voice. "Ayame?" They all said.

"Hai." She said and walked next to Kouga.

"So let me get this straight. Kagome died and you smell her scent and take off to find her?" Inuyasha said.

"No it was after she came back to life I left. No one was paying attention and I didn't want to ruin your moment so I left." Kouga said.

"Well we're off to Kouga's territory Sayonara." Ayame said. They both left.

"What the hell just happened?" Inuki asked.

Kagome hit Inuyasha in the back of the head. "Oi, what did you do that for?" Inuyasha growled.

"Now Inuki is picking up your cussing habits." Kagome said angrily. "I'll warn you this once if you or Shippo cuss again I'll ask Kaede for some rosary beads."

Shippo and Inuki both gulped and nodded. Inuyasha laughed but was sat for it. "Don't forget you already have them." Kagome said. Shippo and Inuki both laughed this time.

"Lets hurry back. I miss Reiha and Kohaku." Sango said.

"Hai." Everyone said. They all started on the trail home.

(This is where I'm supposed to say "And they lived happily ever after" But I'm not. I figure this fic has enough cheesiness to it already.)

It's finished. Yay. I won't be making a sequel to this. There was too many already. I hope you liked this chapter. I'm sorry for making you wait for it.
