Cycle of Mating

Summary: The cycle of demon mating has been going on for thousands of years. Not one demon complained about the consequences of their mating. Not one demon very much liked the choice of who their eternal mate is. Except one. The powerful dog demon lord isn’t too questionable about who his mate is, until he see’s she is his worst enemy. A human girl is his destined mate whether he likes it or not, he must claim her as his mate. There is no way out of it. Will she accept the fact that’s she is destined to be with a demon lord? Will he forget she is human and take her as his mate? What will others think about this ‘arrangement’?

Rin got to her front door, she put her key in and unlocked it. She turned to see Sesshomaru drive off. She shook her head before walking into her house, closing the door softly. She rushed into her room to change out of his haori. It was rather comfortable. But she was still cold.

All she wanted right now was to change clothes and get some sleep before having to wake up to go to school.

Chapter Five: The Next Day

Wednesday Morning: Dearily Residence

The next morning came hours later. Rin was laying in her bed sleeping in peace. Her curtains were drawn closed, but somehow the sun shined through. Rin put her pillow over her head. She was so tired. Getting home late from the dinner last night was a bad idea. What was worse she had to be driven home by the man that ignored her everyday presence and hated her existence. The drive was peaceful, but it was awkward for her. There was complete silence in the car, no one spoke a word, which was fine with her. She didn’t want to have to talk to him.

A knock came to her bedroom door. Rin sighed as she looked up. When she noticed the sun was shining through her closed curtains she got up and looked around. Grabbing her phone she looked at the time then cursed.

“Dammit…I overslept…” Rin rushed out her bed, only to bump into her aunt. “Aunt Mimi?”

Mimi smiled at her. It was 6:30 a.m. she had slept a hour and a half late. She was going to miss first period if she didn’t hurry and take a quick shower and get dressed. “Rin, I let you sleep in for a hour and a half. I know you got home late last night. Sookie called and apologized about it. It’s fine.” Rin nodded her head as she grabbed some clothes and tossed them on her bed. “Hurry and take a shower sweetie. I need you to walk Chiyo to school. Afterwards I’ll drive you to school. I already informed your school that you will be late.”

Rin nodded her head as she grabbed her dry towels and rushed into the shower. Rin got into the shower, washed her hair and her body. She sighed as she turned off the shower a half hour later. Although she tried to hurry in the shower, some things take time to do, and rushing in the shower was one thing she hated to do, even when she is running late. Grabbing her towels she wrapped it around her body and wrapped the other one in her hair. She stepped out the shower and looked at herself in the mirror.

Rin walked into her room and sat down on her bed. Her lotion was on her nightstand next to her alarm that failed to wake her up at the correct time. Mimi must have turned it off so she could sleep in a while longer. Rin lotioned her legs. She grabbed the white panties and bra she tossed on her bed and put them on. She then grabbed her white skinny jeans, slipping both her legs through the jean legs. Rin pulled them up then buttoned the button. She grabbed her turquoise polo shirt off her bed and put it on. This time she forgot to put on a tank top under it. She didn’t feel the need to put one on today.

After put on her shirt Rin grabbed her white belt with the letter ‘R’ as the belt buckle. She put it on. She looked at herself in her mirror and smiled. After a while of looking at herself in the mirror she headed toward the bathroom. To apply a little bit of light make-up to hide the fact that she is still tired. She put on a light touch of black eye liner and put on some mascara. Adding a light touch of pink lip gloss she puckered up her lips and smiled.

She brushed her hair, and put it in a high ponytail. After putting her hair in a pony tail she straightened it, which took a good twenty minutes, Rin finished right as Mimi came walking into her room. “I’m just about done Aunt Mimi.” Rin said, Mimi nodded her head as she put Rin’s book bag on her bed, she placed her keys already in her bag and put her phone in it as well.

Rin grabbed her turquoise high heels from her closet. They were the same color as her shirt. In fact she bought the heels and the shirt at the same store. They were expensive, but so worth it. She put on her heels. All of her heels were the same height, three and a half inches. She grabbed the matching flip flops and put them in her bag, just in case her feet start to hurt.

Rin walked out her room with her book bag and set it down on the couch as she looked at Chiyo. Chiyo went running into Rin’s arms as she gave her a huge hug, “Good morning Rinny.”

Chiyo giggled as Rin hugged her and kissed her on her cheek, “Morning Chi. Are you all ready for School?” Chiyo nodded her head as Rin guided her to the front door. They walked outside and across the street to the Elementary School that Chiyo attended. Rin hurried to drop her off, she wanted to get to school before her teacher was finished lecturing the class and finished with the notes. She hated to miss the notes and the lectures.

Rin dropped Chiyo off at the front gates, she saw her run over to her friends, one which was Akasha, Sookie’s niece. Rin said her goodbyes and waved over to Akasha. After watching her for a few seconds she turned to leave. She got home in the matter of minutes. Her aunt had the car started and everything. Her bag was in the front seat all that was needed was her. Rin thought of everything, thinking if she missed something. Bag? Phone? Keys? Everything checked off. She got into the passenger seat and put on her seat belt.

Mimi drove off and down the street blocks away from their home and over to the fairly large High School coming up a street away. Mimi put her car in park as she let Rin out the car, “Thanks Aunt Mimi…” She closed the door with her right hand while her left hand carried her bag. She rushed up the sidewalk and into the front office. She signed her name, then hurried to her locker.

Placing a few books in her locker and grabbing two other books, she closed the door and headed for her first period. She looked at her phone. She was about forty-five minutes late. Damn, I’m incredibly late… Rin opened the door to her class. Everyone’s glaze turned to the door and to the girl that walking in. She paid no mind to the constant stares as she gave the teacher a late slip and headed for her desk.

Aria looked at her, she pulled out her phone to text her friend. Looking up while texting, making sure the teacher don’t catch her. Rin looked at her phone and over to her friend who looked worried.

From: Aria Somei
Message: Hey Rin, is everything alright? Why Are you late???
Time: 8:05 a.m. December 4, 2009

Rin sat there looking at the message, waited until the teacher turned her back before quickly replying to the message.

To: Aria Somei
Message: Aunt Mimi turned off my alarm clock this morning. She let me sleep in late because I didn’t get back from the dinner last night until past midnight. She thought I could use the extra sleep.
Time: 8:06 a.m. December 4, 2009

After sending that text message Rin put away her phone and looked at the teacher. She was explaining the assignment. Rin felt a burn in her neck, she touched the mark that was engraved into her skin and sighed. It burned. She cursed under her breath as she tried to take her mind off of it. But the constant pain and burn continued to burn as the minutes gone by. She grinned as she wrote down the assignment.

She knew he was doing something to make her neck burn. He didn’t explain much about the mark. All he said was that ‘the pain will subside in a hour or so.’ well the pain might have subsided but the burn from the mark burned like hell. She grinded her teeth as she huffed.

Sesshomaru stared at her, her back was turned to face him. She pretended to act like nothing happened yesterday. Or maybe she was just playing a little game with him. Whatever it was he expected her to submit soon to him. He wanted her complete submission. There was no disobedience or disrespect, only the simple demand of dominance. Dominance was the one thing he wanted most out of this little mating ritual. He wanted to be dominant to show his land and to show his company he was the powerful lord they all knew of.

He watched as she continued to touch the mark on her neck. And watched as everyone, once and a while she would look at her phone in her lap and text her friend that sat right next to him. He growled softly as he could feel the eyes of the human looking at her. Hitoshi still hasn’t got the clue. Hitoshi tried to look and stare at Rin, but Sesshomaru stood in the way, well sat in the way.

Hitoshi gave up after a minute. Sesshomaru watched Rin bend her head down to looked at her phone then put it back in her lap as she started on her assignment. Rin was finished with the assignment right as the bell rang. She didn’t wait for her friends to follow her, she rushed to her next class. After turning in her work she dashed out the room and too her next class.

Wednesday Evening: Lunch

Rin’s first three classes gone by, leaving her in relief as she headed for the snack bar to buy her lunch. She had avoided all of her friends since first period, she even avoided Kagome. Kagome knew what was wrong with her. It was still a bit of a shock, Kagome could understand why Rin avoided her friends. Rin bought a bottle of water and a hotdog for lunch. She sat down at a empty table, close to the Study Hall building. Suya and Aria were very much concerned with their friend. Rin had never distance herself from them, not once. This was the first time she had, and they didn’t understand why.

Aria looked at Rin from the table they normally sat down at. Her glaze turned to the demon in a tree, a few feet away from her. His eyes were closed. But by the looks of it he stayed near her, because of Hitoshi. His eyes shot open when he sensed Hitoshi’s presence walking over to Rin.

Rin sat at the empty table in silence. She ate her hot dog and slowly drank the water. She was reading a book. She could feel small drops of water fall down on her shoulder. But that wasn’t what made her rise from her seat. It was Hitoshi. Hitoshi was staring at her, and was walking over to her. Sesshomaru looked down at him, his eyes turned red, sending glares at him. His demonic aura was rising. Rin felt it as her mark burned. She waited there, she wanted to end this obsession once and for all. To show him he was wrong all along.

She waited as he walked in front of her, and sat down in the seat she rose from. He looked at her, his eyes were shining with lust and desire. He wanted her. “Rin.” She stayed silent. First hear him out, then hurt his feelings. Rin looked up and saw Sesshomaru just glaring at her and noticed how angry he looked when he looked at Hitoshi. “Can I just talk to you for a moment?” Rin shook her head, but just stood there. Hitoshi looked up and down at her, she looked amazing, but one thing caught his eyes. “Rin…your mark is gone. I knew it was just a bruise or something.”

Hitoshi was excited. Thinking he had a small chance with Rin now. Rin laughed which puzzled him, “A bruise or something? Really Hitoshi? Even if it was a bruise you wouldn’t have a chance with me.” Rin pulled down the collar of her shirt to show him the mark on her neck. The mark had it’s pros. “I’m marked, or does this mark look like a bruise?”

He shook his head, Rin pulled her collar back down. Grabbing her stuff she went to walk away when he grabbed her arm. He pulled the collar back down to inspect it, “Get away from me Hitoshi…”

“Someone has hurt you Rin. You should really get this inspected.” He touched the mark which caused her pain and made Sesshomaru jump down from the tree. Seems like the human couldn’t get the point.

“You know nothing Hitoshi. This mark isn’t a bruise, if you took more interest in demon culture then in me then you would know this mark is a mark of ownership. What a fool you are!” She pushed away from him. “Your stepping into a very dangerous situation Hitoshi, one which you could lose your life in the end, if your not careful. I do not wish to be the reason or cause of your death, but if it comes down to it, then so be it.”

Hitoshi’s eyes widened, once Rin said that last word. She didn’t care if she was the reason of his death. Rin backed away from him and turned to take her leave when he grabbed her arm. “I’ll take the chance.”

“Then you’re a fool!” Rin snatched her arm from him and rushed into the Study Hall as rain started to fall from the sky.

Aria and Suya witnessed the entire thing. They watched as Rin tried to make it clear that she was taken. But when they saw her pull her collar down they gasped. Kagome didn’t seem as alarmed by the mark as the rest of them. “Rin…” Aria whispered as the girls hurried under a tree so they can continue their discussion.

“Kagome, you don’t seem to surprised about what just happened,” Suya said.

Kagome breathed in and took in another breath before saying, “It’s because I’m not.” Kagome sat down in the dry grass as Aria and Suya did the same. The rain was pouring down fast now. “Rin didn’t explain to you what happened at the dinner yesterday did she?” Everyone shook their heads. “Rin found out who she was mated to at the dinner. He is the son of her friend Sookie.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” Suya said as she pointed to Sesshomaru from across the courtyard, “Your telling us Sookie Sadamoto is the mother of that bastard over there. So she’s Inuyasha’s mother as well?”

“No, Inuyasha is just a half-demon. Sesshomaru is a full-fledged dog demon. Sookie is one of Rin’s closest friend, besides us, she knew her her whole life, but never once knew her son was her mate. Inuyasha’s mother is human, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru only share a father. Anyways, at the dinner she found out she was his mate-to-be. It was so awkward for her. She left the dinner once she was finished eating, she went for a walk around the estate. And she bumps into him. While she was upstairs with him he marked her.”

Aria’s eyes shot open, she glared at him, her eyes were going from red to her original color, “He what?” Kagome said it again. “How could that pompous jerk mark her? He clearly hates her.”

“Well by the end of the night he gave her his haori from his kimono because Inuyasha pushed her into the lake and she was soaking wet and needed to be dry or she would have gotten sick. He took her home around midnight last night.”

Suya nodded, as she thought about why Sesshomaru would mark her. Aria was thinking the same thing. That jerk! was all she could think of. Rin finally finds out who she is destined to be with and the bastard marks her, as if she is already his. Aria stood up and went to go question him about his decision. “Rin deserves so much more. Why in the hell would the demon consul choose her for that cold-hearted asshole over there?”

“It was Mr. Sadamoto, the leader of the consul who chose Rin.” Aria and Suya both looked at each other. Inu Taisho, the western lord, the leader of the powerful demon consul chose a human girl with so much potential to be with his cold-hearted son. “I do not know his reasons, but him and Sookie were talking about it last night when Mr. Attitude over there took Rin home.”

The rain continued to fall from the dark clouds above as Aria was filled with anger. But filled with a bit of relief. At least Rin knows what she is dealing with. Either way Rin didn’t deserve this life. Aria growled as she started to walk out into the rain to go over to the building that her best friend had walked into about ten minutes before. Sesshomaru was no longer outside. He left while they were talking.

Aria walked into the building Rin walked in and saw her reading a book in the far corner of the room. The Study Hall had plush couches that were very comfortable. Rin enjoyed coming in here while it was raining and while she was at lunch. She found herself in complete peace. Aria looked at the book Rin was reading, it was a book about demon marks. She paused at the front desk, just staring at Rin. Why would she be reading about demon marks? Aria thought, then she remember what Kagome told her just moments ago.

Aria just watched her from the front desk. By the looks of it Rin looked like she didn’t want to be disturbed. Aria growled as she felt another presence around her. It was Hitoshi. From the corner of her eyes she saw him walking into the double door entry. Aria turned to see him smile at her and head toward where Rin was at. Aria growled once more before taking his arm in her hand and dragging him out of the Study Hall doors.

She growled at him when he resisted but he had no choice. He was no match to a demon, even if she was a woman. She stared blankly at him. His glare continued to turn toward the building they just left. But Aria hit him in the stomach to get his attention. “Listen here Hitoshi, back off Rin, she is taken, this is her destiny and you are no where in it.”

“What makes you think I won’t be in it? I only just started. Rin will give in and come to me, she will forget her stupid destiny.” Hitoshi yelled, Aria growled then dug her claws into his arm.

“Do you want to die Hitoshi?” He stared at her, waiting for her next reaction toward him. “You are messing with fire now, you are throwing yourself in a pit of fire, you are endangering yourself by going after her.” Aria shook her head as she turned her back then laughed, “Your making things difficult Hitoshi,” Aria turned back around to look at him, “there are other girls, why not chose them? Why chose the one with her destiny already chosen for her?”

Hitoshi just glared at her. He didn’t feel the need to answer to her. But if he must he will explain, “Because I want her! And one day she will want me too! I know it.” Aria laughed as he continued to embarrass himself. But as he continued she felt another presence. It was a strong presence, an angry one at that. “Rin will be mine.”

“You are such a fool Hitoshi. Your risking your life for one girl.” Aria looked across the courtyard, there she saw a red eyed demon who was rushing over to them both. “I’d hold my tongue if I were you Hitoshi. Her mate will not be pleased with your words.” Sesshomaru stopped at the base of a tree as he watched Aria closely. “He’s already angry, you shouldn’t get him any more angry as he is now. Only a fool would continue.”

“Rin will be mine, just wait and see.” Hitoshi said as he walked away. Aria watched him then back over to Sesshomaru. He disappeared once more. He hid himself in the trees. He hated the human man once more for his outburst, for talking nonsense. Rin was his!

Wednesday Evening: After School

After school came around once more. Rin had distance herself from her friend once more. She promised them she would explain everything when she was ready. Right now she was still in shock for what went down yesterday. She didn’t even participate in coming to her practice after school. It wasn’t the place she wanted to be at. When the last bell of the day rang Rin rushed out her classes and over to her locker grabbing the things she needed then slamming the door closed before walking out to the rain once more.

The rain had continued to pour after school. It was pouring down hard now. Rin hated that she wore white pants, if they got wet then everyone around her will see her skin and her panties. She cursed under her breath as she ran under a roof to stay dry.

In the parking lot she saw Sesshomaru getting in his car, just staring at her. She huffed as she continued to walk before bumping into someone. From where she stood she could hear his growls. Sesshomaru was growling. He got in his car and drove over to her. Hitoshi stood in front of her. With a umbrella.

“Rin, let me walk you home, I have a umbrella. I won’t let you get wet.” Rin shook her head as she saw Sesshomaru’s car park to the side of them. Hitoshi looked at the car. He grinned then said, “Your going to get wet if you walk home, I can drive you home. I have a car Rin.”

Rin shook her head once more. She licked her lips as she backed away and over to the car. “I can’t I have places to go.” she bit her lip as Hitoshi grabbed her hand. “Hitoshi I have to go. You should leave to. I don’t want to cause any trouble…” Rin’s mark burned. She squinted her eyes as it burned her shoulder. “I really have to go.”

Hitoshi’s hand never left Rin’s arm. Rin looked over to see the car door open and the engine was turned off. Rin pushed away from him. She opened the car door and got in before Sesshomaru got out. “Rin you don’t even know who’s car that is. Why would you get into it?”

His question went unanswered as the car drove away. Rin put her head on the window as she put her seat belt on. She could hear his growling. She closed her eyes. He drove off and down the street. Rin didn’t know why she got into the car with him. Sure she wanted to get away from Hitoshi, but that wasn’t a excuse to get in his car. After all he ignored her and avoided her. Acting like nothing happened. He marked her!

Ever since yesterday night he felt different. Felt the need to protect her more and more. He thought his mark on her neck would keep that human away from her, but it pulled him closer to her. And it angered him. He heard that human say multiple times today that Rin was his. Correction Rin was his. His and only his. No one was going to change that. Since he marked her Rin too felt different. Aside from the burning and throbbing the mark caused, but she felt a whole lot safer. And since he marked her he was all she thought about.

She could remember when he marked her. His fangs brushing against her skin. Them sinking into her neck and creating a mark that engraved into her skin. But his lips brushed against her neck as well. Right before he marked her and bit her neck his lips were on her neck. Maybe if it was just for a moment they were there. And she felt them. They were warm and soft.


She shook that memory from her mind as she looked up at him. She groaned. He lied to her. He told her yesterday that the pain from the mark would subside in a hour or so. Its been longer then a hour and still it burned.

Questioning herself if she should tell him that he lied to her. She debated with herself about it. He marked you, and lied to you. The pain should have gone away now. she thought to herself. the book didn’t say much about the ownership mark. Maybe it’s suppose to hurt more.

Finally deciding she sighed as she looked at him and grinned, “You lied to me!” He looked at her while driving. He questioned her with just a blink of a eye, “you bit me then said the pain will go away in a hour or so. Its been longer then a hour.“

He just looked at her before looking back at the road in front of him. He refused to say something to her. He turned at her street. Rin’s eyes went wide as she notice he refused to answer her, “Hey I was talking to you jerk!” she yelled. Her voice didn’t rise much, it was still soft, it was just the way she said it.

His glare turned back at her. His eyes looked down at her own. He flared up, his anger flared as he stopped the car and growled at her. “Watch it girl…”

Rin found a way to test his anger and control. “Or what?” he continued on driving toward her house. “You don’t control me!”

She is so disobedient. She is just testing my patience. Sesshomaru was thinking to himself. He parked the car in front of her house. His eyes went wide when he saw his mother sitting on the steps of her house. What is she doing here? then it came clear to him. He had his mother do something for him. He saw the room Rin slept in. after he dropped her off he snuck over by her window when she was sleeping and saw the room she called her Sanctuary.

Rin grabbed her stuff and unbuckled the seatbelt. She opened the door. Sookie stood by the side of the car. After she saw her son drive up to the house she knew Rin was with him. Rin greeted her with a hug as Sookie put a umbrella over her head. Rin didn’t even bother saying thank you this time. Jerk!

He drove away once she got out the car and shut the door. When he left Rin’s heart begun to cry for him. He was a complete jerk to him, yet her heart wanted him by her even when he insulted her in every possible way he could. She felt like she need him. Her heart told her that she did. But her mind argued with her.

“My son actually drove you home Rin?” Sookie said with a smile. Rin nodded her head as she started walking up the steps of her house. “You don’t look please my dear. Did he say something to you? Did he upset you?”

Rin shook her head. She grabbed her keys and unlocked the door. Her right hand opened the door while her left held her bag. She stopped in the middle of the living room and looked at Sookie. “Sookie, he is a impulsive jerk. No offence, but I don’t see why Mr. Sadamoto picked me.” She threw her stuff on the table. And fell on the couch. “Yet I can’t stop thinking about him.”

Sookie laughed, more of a giggle. “Rin my dear your connection is building faster then it should. Most of the time that connection takes about a month or two to build. that’s why Inu Taisho gives all the demon males three months to report on how it’s going.” Rin looked at her puzzled she didn’t understand, “the connection you made with him takes other demons about two weeks to realize it, then another two to four weeks to make it strong.” Rin nodded her head. “My son realizes this. But he hates the fact that his father paired him with a human girl, hates the fact that he was paired with anyone for that matter.”

Rin continued to listen. “Sesshomaru has always thought humans were weak. Since his father mated with a human princess and breed a half-breed, he saw his father as weak.” Rin now felt insulted. He saw her as weak. Okay she will show him how weak she’s not. “But from what Inu Taisho told me, your suppose to change him. He can’t avoid you, after all you will be his mate. Inu Taisho feels that you are the human girl that can change my son. I disagreed at first, but now that I see your connection with him I think he’s right.”

Rin stayed quiet. Inu Taisho thought she could change his son. He had confidence that she could.

“Enough of this talking. I talked to your aunt and she’s letting me take you out. Were going shopping.” Sookie said with a smile. Rin nodded her head as she looked at Sookie. Sookie continued to smile as Rin jumped up from the couch and headed toward the door.

Rin looked over to Sookie who follow closely behind her, “Don’t we have to pick up Chiyo and Akasha?” Sookie shook her head as they walked out the door. Rin locked the door as she put her keys and her phone in her pocket.

“Inu Taisho will be picking them up at four. He offered, he wanted to get to know Chiyo. Since she will be apart of his family.” Rin nodded her head. Rin didn’t mind Inu Taisho picking her dear cousin up from school. She may have only met him just about twenty-four hours ago, and learned he was head of the council, and a very powerful demon lord of the west. But she trusted him. She knew she could trust him with Chiyo.

They both walked to the sidewalk where the black Mercedes was parked at. Rin looked at it in puzzlement. Was that car there when Sesshomaru dropped me off? That was the only thing running in her mind as The driver opened the door and allowed Rin to slid in and allowed Sookie to do the same thing before closing the doors.

The driver opened the drivers side of the door and entered the car. Putting his seatbelt on and driving off down the streets of the neighborhood. Rin looked out the window as the drive drove. Trees, streets, sidewalks, birds, squirrels and other things past by as the car was moving.

Not more then five minutes later they were at the mall. The driver parked the car and opened the door for both Rin and Sookie. He waited for them to exit the car before following behind them as they walked into the entrance of the mall. The first store they stop in was no other then Victoria Secret. Rin blushed as Sookie was looking through the few levels of lingerie that was hanging up on the walls and were folded on the selves. But they weren’t for Rin.

Sookie told Rin to look through the store. That whatever she wanted she would buy her. She had no problem buying her anything. Rin felt like Sookie didn’t need to do anything for her. Which included buying her gifts and all that. Sookie could tell Rin felt uncomfortable with her spending money on her. So she led Rin through the store, showing her a few things, then telling her that she would buy her whatever she wanted. She had well enough money to spend.

So after taking in what Sookie told her she looked through the store. There were these designer looking pair of panties and bras that caught Rin’s eye. Sookie bought three of them. They came in a pack of two bras and two panties. Then they came across the lotions and the body sprays and perfumes. Rin got three each of the different kinds. One smelt like vanilla, another smelt like Blackberry Sage, the last smelt like Cherry Blossoms. Sookie got almost everything Rin got. Except she filled her hands with all kinds of lingerie for herself.

They left the store after twenty minutes, Rin carried five bags and Sookie had seven bags in her hands. Next they went to a designed store for dresses and gowns. Sookie said now that she will be apart of the Sadamoto family, there will be tons of dinner parties, banquets, formal dinners and other important matters that Rin must attend. So they entered the store, Rin found a few gowns and dresses she wouldn’t mind wearing, but they were all expensive. But money didn’t matter to Sookie. She didn’t care how much the gowns or dresses cost.

They spent less then twenty minutes in that store. Rin tried on a few of the dresses and got the ones she liked.

Four Hours Later

Rin and Sookie walked through the rest of the mall, carrying just three bags in each of her hands, while the driver was carrying the rest. Sookie said that they could continue having a shopping trip every once and a while or just have a day to spend together. After all they were going to be in-laws at some point this year or sometime next year.

Night time came four hours later. Sookie had to get Rin back to her aunt before she started to worry. Plus she still had school in the morning and this shopping trip got in her way of doing her homework, she should get her home to get her homework done. They left the mall soon after they exited the last shop. The driver waited outside for them. Sookie’s business car was pared right outside the entrance doors. Sookie smiled as she saw the diver.

They walked over to the car, giving the driver all the bags, he put them in the front seat since the trunk and the open space behind the driver and passengers seat was filled with bags. Rin giggled as they entered the car. Getting all situated Rin and Sookie put on their seatbelts and waited for the driver. Less then five minutes later he gets in and drives them back to the Dearily residence.

It took about ten minutes to get to Rin’s house, but when they pulled into the driveway Mimi’s car wasn’t there. Rin smirked, that was odd, shouldn’t she be home with Chiyo. She knew that Inu Taisho picked up the girls after school, but didn’t he bring Chiyo home yet. Sookie waited for the driver to open the door for both of them. She smiled and thanked him, she held her hand out for Rin and pulled her out the car. They grabbed the few bags they carried out the mall and had Kano grabbed the rest of Rin’s bags.

From there they walked up the few steps to the house. Rin’s unlocked the door and walked in. She took off her shoes at the front door then hurried to her bedroom. She opened her door which she swore she left open, but she shrugged that thought from her mind. But once she opened the door and walked in she dropped her bags and gasped.

The bags were set to the side of the room in a corner by Sookie, she walked over to Rin who walked deeper into her room, well her new and improved room. “Sookie, what happened to my old bedroom?” her voice questioned. She walked over to her canopy bed and sat down. The comforter was blue with red and pink cherry blossoms sewed into the seams. White lilies were also part of the design. Her pillows were blue, white, and pink, there was about ten pillows at the tops of her bed.

“Well I only designed your room. I had nothing to do with wanting to change it. My son was the one giving orders, I only obeyed.” Rin stared blankly at her, confused on why her son would want to refurnish and redesign her room into something better. “He expressed that you weren’t going to be sleeping in a room that is so-called ‘unacceptable’ to him. That if your going to be his mate, your going to be living a life of luxury.”

Rin only nodded her head. Sesshomaru did all this for her. All her dressers and desks and bed posts were all new, she had fine cherry oak bed, desk, dresser, armoire and chest at the end of her bed. Which held a bundle of other blankets just in case she got cold. There was a new ceiling fan, and a tall fan across from her bed. She smiled as she looked and saw the computer on the desk.

“I can’t accepts any of this…”

“Oh, but you will. Sesshomaru wont take no for a answer, he will feel rather offended, I do not suggest that you make him angry.” Sookie replied as she grabbed the bags and walked them over to the armoire. She set them down as the driver set them down by the door. Refusing to walk into Rin’s room.

Rin’s walls were freshly repainted with a sapphire blue, the corners of the wall filled with hand made professional painting of cherry blossoms. The carpet had been changed as well. Her carpet matched her bed set. Sookie walked over to the desk with the computer she pointed to her new laptop and said, “All your friends and contacts are already programmed into your phonebook. Your laptop was enhanced and had all the stuff you needed programmed into it.” She looked over to a the picture surrounding the computer on the desk she held up a picture of a professional shot of a monkey. “I had a professional photographer takes photos of your favorite things, for instance this monkey.” Rin smiled.

Sookie glared at her soon-to-be daughter-in-law. She pulled something out of her pocket of her sleeve. Rin looked at her. Sookie walked over to the bed and pulled out a sapphire silk box handing it to Rin. “I have one last thing I got you.”

“No, Sookie no more gifts, you spent enough on me…”

Sookie held the box in Rin’s hands and said with a smile, “I’ve had this for a very long time. Waiting to give to you, waiting to give to the girl that would be the mate of my son. I’m glad it’s you I get to give it too.” Rin now wondered what she was talking about. Rin’s small fingers dragged across the tips of the box then slowly opened it. She gasped. A crystal necklace was wrapped in a pale silk fabric. Rin’s fingers touched the crystal which made it glow. “This is a Adamant Crystal, Rin.”

“It’s so beautiful, but I can’t…”

“I want you to have it Rin. This crystal was given to me by Inu Taisho the night Sesshomaru was born.” Rin shook her head as Sookie took the necklace out the silk fabric it was wrapped around in and held it out to show Rin. There was a cloudy mist that filled the inside. Rin could smell a hint of vanilla, it was pretty and it smelt good. Rin giggled as she touched it. Sookie got behind Rin and wrapped the necklace around Rin’s neck, closing it she allowed Rin to hold it in her hands. “That mist is filled with the scent of a vanilla flower that only grows in the western lands its very rare.” Sookie explained to her. Rin’s fingers entwined around the crystal. “This crystal is very special, I cherished it my whole life since Inu Taisho gave it to me, it was very precious to me.” She smiled, “But it has it’s own little power, it can let you know when a evil, demonic aura is around, it can protect you from danger and can prevent something from happening to you, you’d know before it happens. The trick is, it will only protect the one that wears it, and it only works best when the girl that is wearing it is mated or marked with a ownership mark.”

“If it’s so precious to you Sookie, do you really want to be giving it to me?” Sookie nodded her head. “It’s very lovely.”
“This crystal doesn’t serve much of a purpose to me anymore. It cannot protect me from danger any longer. I hold no mated or ownership mark. Since my son already marked you I thought it would be best to give this crystal to you now. My only request is to never take it off my dear.” Rin nodded her head as she gave Sookie a hug. “best part about the necklace is also that you can sense when Sesshomaru is coming, so you have a advantage.”

A few minutes gone by and Sookie excused herself, she needed to check on her niece at the Sadamoto Estate. She said that Inu Taisho called and said he brought Chiyo home and Mimi took her out for dinner and ice cream. As Sookie left Rin just sat down on her bed. All the bags that were brought in by the driver were scattered on her floor. Rin’s hand touched the necklace around her neck, she smiled.

Just moments later Rin picked up all the bags from the floor and carried them to her closet. Insider her closet was all her old clothes and a few new ones as well. Rin smiled then shook her head as put the gowns and dresses that Sookie bought her in the back of her closet for when she needs it most. The put everything else away as well. Her lotions went on her nightstand by her bed, her body sprays and perfumes went into her bathroom with all the hair supplies that Sookie bought as well. The next things she put away was the new bras and panties that Sookie bought along with lingerie, which she didn’t think she needed.

After everything was put up Rin put her pictures of her mom and dad on the other nightstand next to her bed. Her pictures of her friends were all over her desk around the lap top and the professional shots of everything she loved most. Rin was so amazed that Sesshomaru would do something like this for her. Especially since he’s a complete jerk and he absolutely hates humans. Which she is a human. She thought he hated her. Guess not.

Rin laid across her bed, the curtain was closed and let herself just relax. She could hear the front door close, she guessed it was just Mimi and Chiyo coming home from dinner they had together. Rin got up once more then took off her clothes and changed into a pair of short black pajama shorts with dancing monkeys, and put on a plain white tank top. She brushed her hair and pulled it into a ponytail.

The crystal around Rin’s neck glowed a while pearl color. Rin looked down at it. She closed her eyes as she felt the pull. Sesshomaru. He was close. Outside her bedroom door she could hear footsteps. She could hear Mimi’s and Chiyo’s voice, they were laughing, but she could also hear her window opening. She grinned. Looking into her mirror as the footsteps softened.

She could feel him, strangely she felt him near her. Just before she turned around she said in a soft whisper, “What do you want?” A soft growl came into the air as she turned around.

Sesshomaru looked at her and growled once more. She walked past him and back to her bed. Just waiting for him to say something. While she walked past him he saw the crystal dangling from her neck. He growled as he rushed to her side which was on her bed. He stood next to her bed while she sat down on the bed. Gripping the necklace in his fingers he said.

“She gave it too you, didn’t she?” Sesshomaru asked. No harsh tone, his voice was just rough, but demanding. A strange rush of excitement rushed through Rin as she heard him speak. His demanding self pulled her closer to him. But she refused to give into that feeling.

“If your referring to Sookie, yes she did.” Rin said, her rude tone went away. She wanted to thank him for the room, but she wanted to see how long it would take before he says something about it.

Rin combed her fingers through her hair as Sesshomaru just stared at her. His fingers still intertwined with the necklace. It glowed that pearl white color as it clouded up with all sorts of mist. Her emotions were clouding up in the necklace, yet she did not know anything about it. Letting go of the necklace Sesshomaru watched as Rin lost herself to him. He turned away from her at the sound of footsteps coming close to Rin’s bedroom door which was cracked open.

Not waiting any longer Sesshomaru rushed out the bedroom window before Mimi and Chiyo could come into the room and see him there, standing near Rin’s bed. He disappear into the night once he was outside the window. Rin didn’t see him once he got out the window. He jumped into a tree and hid within the trees.

The footsteps got louder, soon they stopped at the door way. Rin heard a gasp as she looked at her aunt and cousin come running into the room. Chiyo saw the room then went running over to the bed and jumped on the edge of it. Rin smiled as she grabbed her notebook from her backpack. Her favorite blew pen was stuck in the swirls of the notebook.

Chiyo looked at the bed then commented on how soft it feels. “Rinny, your new bed is so soft.” Rin smiled as Mimi looked at her.

“Looks good in her Rin. Sookie sure did do a great job on your bedroom.” Rin nodded her head. Mimi looked around. She saw the pictures of her sister and her brother-in-law on her nieces desk. Rin always had a picture of her parents somewhere close to her, one her binder she had a picture of her, Mimi, Chiyo and her mother. And there’s another picture of just Rin and parents. Rin was very close to her parents even at the young age of them dying.

Rin continued looking at her notebook and continued writing what ever she was writing. Mimi smiled at her niece for continuing her homework. Mimi looked at her daughter then said, “Lets go Chiyo, let us let Rin finish her homework. Plus its bedtime.” Chiyo nodded her head as she crawled over to Rin and gave her a quick hug then jumped off her bed, running out the room and into her bedroom. Mimi watched her daughter then looked back at Rin and said, “Night Rin, see you in the morning.”

Nodding her head Rin continued on with what she was doing.

She finished her homework about a hour late and went to bed, not knowing what she was going to wake up to next. Mimi secretly turned off her alarm like she always have done every year. Rin still wakes up only because of the nightmare she has. Tomorrow will be the day she relives the grieving feeling of her loss. Tomorrow will be the anniversary of her parents death, and Rin has always been so un-stabled. Her loss and pain she feels makes it hard for her to go to school during that day, so all she does is just sit in her room and cry, looking through the family pictures she took with her parents before their death.

Rin laid down on her bed and fell asleep after she put all her stuff away. Not knowing what the next day would bring her.

Author’s Note: Oh my goodness, finally I’m finished with this not really long chapter. I want to apologize for not updating in a timely manner like I normally do. I just started having writers block since school started in august, on top of that I have a Creative writing Class that involves a whole lot of writing which tires me out. So I’m very sorry about the long wait. I hope all my readers can forgive me.

But I do have good news to tell you, I have the next four chapters all laid out from start to finish, all I have to do is write them. I have each chapter outlines, and it tells me what the chapter will be about so I can start writing faster. If the chapter is confusing I’ll explain it to you in the next few chapters as well.

Next chapter Rin will be staying home, it will be the Anniversary of her parents death and she’s not stabled to go to school. The chapter won’t be as long as the others but I’ll update soon. Give me a week or two please. I’ve been writing a lot lately so I just might finish by Wednesday or Thursday since the next chapter is short.
