Cycle of Mating

Summary: The cycle of demon mating has been going on for thousands of years. Not one demon complained about the consequences of their mating. Not one demon very much liked the choice of who their eternal mate is. Except one. The powerful dog demon lord isn’t too questionable about who his mate is, until he see’s she is his worst enemy. A human girl is his destined mate whether he likes it or not, he must claim her as his mate. There is no way out of it. Will she accept the fact that’s she is destined to be with a demon lord? Will he forget she is human and take her as his mate? What will others think about this ‘arrangement’?

The table was silent. No one was speaking. It just looked like everyone was looking at Rin. Rin felt like all eyes were on her and it was just too awkward for her, so she excused herself, “If you will excuse me…” Rin excused herself from the table and went walking out the doors of the dinning hall and into the main hall.

Chapter Four: Can’t Deny Fate

Her plan was to eat and leave, but that would just be rude. So she went to take a tour of the palace on her own. Rin walked up the stairs she and Sookie had walked up. She was back on the third floor when she soon felt lost. Rin sighed as she pressed her back against the wall and looked at her cell phone. She sighed once more before starting to walk again. Rin found herself lost in one of the hall ways, they all looked the same. Every hall way had the drawn open curtains, the red carpeting, the opened windows and the candles lit.

She grunted as she became annoyed with herself. She couldn’t believe she actually got lost in this estate. But when she started to feel that strong pull she knew he was coming up the stairs and over to where she was. But she was wrong, he was closer then she thought. She turned around when she heard silent footsteps walking near her. When she turned around she came face to face with him.

Looking up at him, she slightly smiled before looking into his golden eyes once more, almost losing herself in their daze. His golden orbs stared down at her hazel orbs. A pool of mist and confusion circled around in her eyes. He could tell she was confused. But he refused to explain anything to her. He looked down at her wrist and grinned. The mark was fading, he would soon have to bite her to create a mark of ownership, which will make all demon males and human males stay away from her, they will know she is taken.

He is too stubborn to even want to touch her. Even when she fell into his arms at lunch yesterday afternoon, and when he brushed his hand against her cheek to make sure she was okay he was too stubborn then. But she pulled him closer to her. The mark she bared on her wrist was pulling them closer, he felt the connection. He only wondered if she felt it too.

Rin stood there as he gripped her chin in his hand, moving her head back and forth, left to right. He looked down at her exposed skin on her neck and growled. Rin felt shivers run down her spine as he leaned down. Taking in a deep breath he bared his fangs and growled, “W-what…are y-you…d-doing?” Rin struggled to ask.

“I see you know nothing about my demon culture.” He growled as Rin went to back away, but his left arm wrapped around her waist, forbidding her from going anywhere. Rin had barely spoken ten words to him. She didn’t know what to say, he never spoke to her, he seemed to avoid her, but was always watching her from a distance. He leaned down over to her ear and breath in before speaking, Rin could feel his breath brush against her inner ear making her flinch at the breeze, “you are at the age of mating now…”

Rin nodded her head. She knew that, that was the reason why she wasn’t afraid. The one thing she was afraid of was him. Every time he’d look at her, it would look like he’s looking through her, or he would look at her in disgust, “I know…” She whispered as his breath brushed against her neck. Her neck and collar bone was fully exposed to him. He breathed in her scent, she smelt like cherry blossom’s and bamboo. He took a liking to her scent.

His left hand rest on her waist, his claws her slightly digging into her waist as she whimpered, “The demon consul chose you for a reason.” He whispered into her ear, “Whatever that reason was it doesn’t matter. You are…mine.” His fangs lightly brushed over her skin on her neck and collarbone. “I could have avoided you longer, but…” he said as he tightened his grip on her waist, “…you kept pulling me closer to you.” He whispered into her ear, as she looked up into his eyes, making sure she didn’t lose herself in his golden orbs she seemed to love so much.

“I did nothing of the sort…” She plainly said, while trying to take a step back, but his hand that was on her waist kept her from pushing away from him. Sesshomaru pulled her closer to his body as he gripped her chin once more, forcing her to look at him.

He glared at her, while leaning back down to her neck and her collarbone, “Your mark is fading.” he stated, while taking in her scent once more. She nodded her head. She wanted to reach up to him and grip his kimono, but she knew nothing about him, and yet she’s this close to him. The pull seemed to hurt more now. His body was just centimeters away from hers, yet the mark is craving for him. This is what Aria was talking about when she said that she couldn’t continue to avoid him. “The pull is even more painful now, is it not?” Rin nodded her head, as she heard a soft chuckle, “I can fix that for you!” He exclaimed.

Sesshomaru felt weak talking to her the way he was. Stating the obvious. But it was needed. He will need to mark her now, or she will continue to feel the painful pull. It was unlike him to be this close, especially with a human girl. That was weak. Rin breathed in as she closed her eyes. She knew the painful prick on her neck would be coming sooner or later. She hoped for later, but then when later comes around she would wish he had done it now.

Opening his mouth, he lightly nibbled on her soft skin at the base of her neck, right where her collarbone was. Rin stood there, her knees seemed to buckle as his fangs came in contact with her skin. Sesshomaru went to bite down on her neck when he felt another presence in the hallway. He growled as he pulled her out of the hallway they were in. he needed to mark her now, but he needed to do it in private, away from curious eyes.

Sesshomaru pulled her down the hall. She followed as they came up to a pair of double cherry oak doors. He opened the door and dragged her inside and quickly closed the door. Rin looked around to see her surrounding. When she looked around she gasped, it was a bedroom. Was it his? Sure looked like it. The carpet was a pure white color. The carpet looked soft. The curtains across the room that was hung in front of the windows and the balcony doors were drawn closed.

The balcony doors looked like the French double doors. A royal purple curtain with a strange yellow design on it draped over the balcony doors, leaving the room to dwell in completely darkness. But that was the way Sesshomaru liked it. A few feet away from the balcony doors was a huge king size bed. Rin looked at the bed and gasped it was huge. She then looked at Sesshomaru. Why would he need such a huge bed?

Oh she almost forgot, she was his mate-to-be. Once they are mated they will be sharing his bed. Rin almost blushed as she looked at the covers on the bed. The blankets were royal purple with a yellow sheet under it. There were at least ten pillows on the bed, half of the pillows were royal purple and the other half was yellow. There was a extra blanket at the end of bed, it was royal purple with a yellow swirl design on it. By the looks of the bed it looked very comfortable.

Too bad I can’t jump on it and feel how soft it is. Rin thought as she lightly blushed at the thought of laying on his bed. Wait, what I’m I saying?

Sesshomaru stared at her as he pulled her over to him. His clawed hand found its place back on her waist while the other one tilted Rin’s head to the side as he leaned in. He growled as he breathed in her scent once more. It was just too good of a smell on her. He put his lips on her neck, nibbling on her skin. He could feel her shivering under him. His fang brushed against her skin, right at the base of her neck and her collarbone. Sinking his fangs in her, he heard her cry out in pain.

“W-what was…that…for?” Rin cried out. His fangs sunk in deeper into her skin as she felt a relieving pain. As seconds started going by and his fangs were still sunk into her neck the pain was beginning to subside. It was replace with some sort of pleasure rushing through her body.

After a minute Sesshomaru released his fangs from her neck. Blood was dripping out the now open wound. He licked the wound clean, licking the blood away. The wound closed seconds later, leaving a silver crescent moon engraved into her skin. She winced as it closed up fully. Sesshomaru could still taste her skin on his tongue. For a humans blood it tasted good. Sweet and tasty.

Rin put her hand on the mark on her neck and winced at the pain from touching it. “The pain will subside in a hour or so.” He whispered before releasing her and turning away from her. He couldn’t believe himself. He marked her. He had to, but he wanted more from her. Just that small taste of her blood and the feeling of his lips against her skin made him want more. He growled as he went walking to the balcony. Opening the balcony doors, he stood on the balcony as Rin went to walk over to him.

She herself didn’t think he would do something like that. Since whenever he looked at her, he seemed quite annoyed and disgusted with what she was. But for him to place his mark on her to ward off all other males was a huge step. She remembered what he said, he didn’t choose her, the consul did. The demon consul.

She had read many books on the demon consul. About how they make the decision of placing a demon with their perfect mate. So did that make her perfect for him? She couldn’t be. The demon consul controlled everything. Most of the members of the consul were lords of the four lands. The North, South, East and West. Sesshomaru’s father was head of the consul. But there was things she didn’t understand why the consul chose her to be with such a cold-hearted man. Cold-hearted demon.

Rin walked over to Sesshomaru by the balcony, she was going to ask him. She looked at her phone it was almost nine. Wow, time flew by quickly. The sky was dark, the only light that could be seen was the shining of the stars and the far away lights in the city of Tokyo. Rin put her hand on the rails of the balcony, and breathed in the fresh air.

It was beautiful outside, even though it was dark Rin saw the beauty, from the darkening skies, the shining stars above, and the small light below where the lake was. She saw the light from the stars beaming off the clear water of the lake. She looked down and closed her eyes as she took in a deep breath before saying, “Why did the consul chose me?” She questioned him, knowing he knew why, he just didn’t want to release that information with her.

“It doesn’t matter why they chose you.” He simply said. Rin didn’t like his answer, she wanted to know why. “Their reasoning does not matter to me.” Rin nodded her head and grinned.

He knows why. Why won’t he tell me? Rin swallowed the lump in her throat then went the turn before he grabbed her arm, he growled.

“I will not give into your weak human emotions.” Rin raised her eyebrow, she was confused.

She bit her lip then said, “I never said you had to.”

With that she walked away from him. Off his balcony, she debated with herself whether or not to leave or to stay. But she felt so unwanted here, so she walked over to the door. Sesshomaru was in front of her in the matter of seconds when she went walking toward the door. Tilting her head to the side Rin stood there confused. Sesshomaru grabbed her arm and pulled her over to him.

He buried his face into the crock of her neck. Taking in as much of her scent as he could possibly can. He nibbled on the wound he left on her neck, she hissed in pain. Touching it hurt a lot. He knew that, this was probably payback for him having to mark her. He wanted her to submit to him. He is going to be a demon lord once their mating ritual is finished, so he expects complete submission from her.

His clawed hands wrapped around her waist, pinching her skin. Rin looked up at him and bit her lip. What did he want from her? He lifted up her chin with his index finger, “I expect you to submit to me by the end of this week!” he growled.

Rin smiled as she choose to test him, see how mad she could get him, “Or what?” He growled once more. Disobedience was not needed, nor did he ask for it. He didn’t take it very lightly. “I’ll submit to you when I feel like it…” Before she could spit out another word she was pinned to the nearest wall. Rin just smiled, his hand wrapped around her neck as he squeezed softly.

Rin cough, trying to catch her breath. His hand wasn’t wrapped around her throat tight enough to choke her. Just looked like he was trying to prove his point. Point taken. “Submit now!” a soft growl escaped his mouth.

“No…”

He tightened his grip just a bit more. He couldn’t hurt her. Sesshomaru released her, placing her back to the ground. She rubbed her neck, her finger came in contact with her wound. She cried out as she sent death glares at Sesshomaru. This mating thing is going to be fun. I will not submit, not with that attitude.

A knock came to the door. Sesshomaru looked at the door then over to Rin. It was a servant outside his chambers. When the servant came walking into the room, she bowed her head at Sesshomaru, then looked at Rin, glancing at the mark on her neck, she bowed her head even lower for her which confused her more. “Sorry to interrupt you Lord Sesshomaru, but Miss Dearily is needed down stairs. Lady Sookie would like to know if Miss Dearily wants a tour around the Estate.” Rin looked at her and nodded her head.

Sesshomaru growled as the servant backed away from them, “She will be down in a moment.” The servant nodded her head then bowed her head to Sesshomaru and then to Rin.

Rin was confused on why the servant would need to bow her head to her. Sure she was a guest in the Sadamoto Estate, but that was all she was, just a guest nothing more. But then again she was going to be a mate of a very powerful, stubborn, cold-hearted demon in Tokyo. Of the course the servants would have to treat her as his equal. But she wasn’t his equal, she wasn’t even close to being his equal.

The servant left in the matter of seconds. Leaving the demon lord and the human girl to be alone once more. Rin put her hand on the doorknob, begun turning it. Sesshomaru pressed his body against her before she was able to open the door. Her chest was heaving up and down, as her breathing begun to run in a slow pace. Sesshomaru’s face was inches away from her own. He looked down at her lips and growled. They were perfect. Her lips were slightly open, they were puckered as she was breathing in and out.

Her lips were begging to be kissed. But he refused to. He already lowered himself to protect a human girl his father destined him to be with, and lowered himself to make his point to all the other males that she was taken. He even lowered himself by marking her so soon. He could have avoided her a little bit longer, that way she can be taunted by the pain of the pull that pulled her to him. That cried for him. But marking her was the only way to show all the other demons and human males that she had been taken and was not to be touched by another male ever.

At least with the mark on her neck that human will get the hint that she was his. That the small little scar she had on her wrist wasn’t a birthmark, it was a birth right. The human seemed persistent and found a new way to annoy him every time. Its been two days since he found out what his father and the consul had done. Its been two full days since he begun protecting her. He had attempted to avoid her for a few more days, or maybe a week or two more, but the pull was too strong. He wouldn’t even be able to endure it.

Sesshomaru was lost in his own little world. Thinking of what he should do. The bond he and her made when he first saw her grew stronger by the minute. That was their first connection, which was binding her to him mentally. He physically marked her to ward off the other males. The next connection that was needed before the actual mating was the verbal and physical connection. He would have to set his pride to the side and make that connection with her soon. He took a huge step in the process by marking her now, but he will need to make a connection with her body as well.

So Rin will have to get used to his body so close to her own. Have to get used to his face being inches away from her. When the time comes she would also have to get used to his lips pressed against her own as well. Just because she made a connection with him, does not mean her body will accept him.

Sesshomaru let go of her and opened his door. He left her there just standing near the doors. He waited at the end of the hall for her to follow him. If he just left her there his mother wouldn’t see her until midnight. She would just get lost. Rin walked out his room and closed the door and followed him. Slowly they walked through the many halls of the West Wing. They reached a staircase. Rin started walking down the stairs alone, he just stood there. He refused to walk down with her, knowing his father and his mother was waiting at the bottom of the stairs.

After walking down three flights of stairs and down two more halls Rin came face to face with a group of chattering people. Kagome saw Rin and ran over to her. She grabbed her arm and giggled as she went pulling her to the side, “Rin where have you been? We thought you might have left or something!” She said. No one really noticed that she had came down stairs except for Kagome and Inuyasha.

Inuyasha was in a deep conversation with his father while Izayoi and Sookie were talking about the future and how both their son’s will be mated by the end of the school year. “I just went for a walk upstairs, exploring the halls and such.” she left out the part about her bumping into Sesshomaru and him biting her, and wanting her to submit to him. “I kind of got lost up there.”

Kagome giggled as she whispered something to her, “I know, Inuyasha’s brother went looking for you right after you left from the dinning hall. Was everything alright?” Rin nodded her head, as she turned to look at the portraits around her, “Did he hurt you Rin?” Rin shook her head, but Kagome knew better then to believe that. She turned her around and saw the bite mark on her neck, she gasped then said, “He bit you!”

“It’s not problem Kagome, I’m fine…” It was fine. But Kagome think so, “I promise it’s fine it doesn’t even hurt as much as it did at first.” Rin looked into Kagome’s brown eyes, she could see the worry in her eyes, she could see the hurt from it. “Kagome don’t worry about it. Soon you will have a mark similar to this one on your neck as well. Its all part of the ritual.”

Kagome shook her head, “It doesn’t look like your okay.” Kagome thought about what she just said then stated, “You are sure your okay?”

“I’m positive Kagome, this mark shows ownership and will ward off other males. I’m surprised Inuyasha hasn’t mark you. It’s apart of the process of demon mating…” Kagome blushed as Rin talked more about demon mating.

Kagome looked at her then at Inuyasha who started walking over to the two girls. “Are you sure you want to bare such a mark on you Rin? I mean, all he’s done is avoid you every chance he could.”

“She has too.” Inuyasha said as he examined the mark then said, “She has no choice, but to wear it with honor. Especially since the one who marked her is a complete jerk. And will stop at nothing until she submits to him.” Kagome was confused.

“I d-don’t understand…”

Rin stepped in and took the opportunity to explain things to her, “Dog demons want their mates to submit to them. To show dominance and their control. Most dog demons ask for their mates submission, but if yours is a powerful lord, who wants nothing more then to be the dominate one in the relationship, they want complete submission from their mate.” Rin was reading about it when she was in the library. The book stated the facts about a humans submission and a demons submission. It was rare to see the male submit. That was what Rin wanted, to make Sesshomaru submit to her. “You too will be expected to submit to Inuyasha as well Kagome.”

Kagome nodded her head as Sookie looked over to the group and smiled. She saw a small wound on Rin’s neck. She growled as she took a better glance at it. She turned Inu Taisho and Izayoi over to where Rin was and told them both to look at her neck. Sookie walked over to Rin, Kagome and Inuyasha. She smiled as she looked down at her wound. That mark on her neck left her confused on why her son chose to mark her now.

Sookie smiled as she said, “Rin would you like to see the lake outside? There’s a beautiful waterfall that falls right into the lake. I think you would love it.” Rin nodded her head.

“I’d love to.” Rin exclaimed as Sookie started walking down to the end of the main hall and through a door which connected to a different hallways. Rin smiled as Kagome followed her. Inuyasha was far behind them, Inu Taisho was taking Izayoi to her Library. She wanted to read something before joining them outside.

When they arrived to the back of the Estate Rin’s eyes lit up in amazement as she went on her own. That small glance she saw of the lake and waterfall when they pulled up to the Estate amazed her, but now looking at it clearly with her eyes dazzled her. Rin sat down at the side of the lake, right next to the waterfall. The water was cool. Not too cold, but it wasn’t warm. She dipped her hands into the water as Kagome sat down next to her. Cherry Blossom Trees surrounded the lake and the waterfall. It was wonderful.

Inuyasha thought it would be funny by dunking one of the girls into the lake. He snuck up behind Kagome and grabbed her. She held onto him as he pushed her into the lake. But she pulled him in with her. Sookie giggled as Rin took off her heels to put her feet in the water. And set her phone to the side, making sure no water would get on it. When Inuyasha got out the water and went to dunk Rin as well.

Rin got up and backed away from him, “No, no Inuyasha…” Kagome laughed as Inuyasha picked Rin up and threw her into the water.

“INUYASHA!!!” Sookie yelled as she went running over to the lake. Rin lifted her head out the water, her whole body got dunked in, now she was cold. Sookie looked at her then giggled, “Rin are you okay?” Rin shook her head as she attempted to get out the water. Kagome attempted to pull her deeper into the water. Rin pulled herself out the water with the help of Sookie.

Looking over to Inuyasha, Rin gave him the most hated look. Inuyasha smiled as Kagome pulled him into the water with her. She held on tight to him as Rin spoke, “I hate you Inuyasha. I am soaking wet and freezing.” Rin said as she held onto herself. She was freezing. Sookie looked at her as she bit her lip then looked up. Her son was standing on his balcony glaring at them. His face showed no emotion. He looked emotionless. But when he saw Inuyasha place his hands on Rin he became angry.

Sookie hugged Rin, making sure the water wasn’t dripping on her. Rin shook in her arms as they went walking under one of the cherry blossom trees. Inu Taisho came walking outside the Estate and grinned when he saw his son acting a fool with Kagome in the Lake, but when he moved his glance over too Rin he saw she was soaking wet. “Rin, dear girl, what has happened to you?”

She looked over to Inuyasha and grinned. Wrapping her arms around her body she attempted to warm herself up. Inu Taisho called his servant girl over to them, “Sara, please take Rin up stairs to one of the guest rooms, and get her some dry clothing.”

“Yes Milord.” Sara looked over at Rin and called her over to her, “This way Miss Dearily.”

Rin got up from the spot she was in and went walking with the servant girl back into the Estate. She was surprised Inu Taisho was going to let her walk around in the Estate drenched. Just as she walked into the Estate two other servants greeted her at the door. They handed her a towel as they showed her the way to a guest room. Sara the servant girl walked her up stairs to the third floor. She didn’t know if her lord wanted her to take her to an guest room to dry off and be placed in fresh clothes or if she should just take her to Lord Sesshomaru’s chambers for him to take care of her.

She decided it was best for Sesshomaru to take over. She was his to protect anyways. He can help her with the dilemma she was in now. Rin followed the servant girl all the way up to the third floor and over to the west wing . When she noticed where she was she sighed as she came face to face with the room she had just left not more then twenty minutes ago. The servant girl knocked on the door, as Rin turned her body from the door.

When no one answered the door Sara opened the door to see Sesshomaru standing on the balcony. Sara walked deeper into the room when she heard her lords voice, “Why have you brought her here Sara?” His voice was rough, and emotionless.

“Lord Inu Taisho wanted me to get her some dry clothes Milord…” Sesshomaru turned around, Rin was standing outside the room. He growled which caused Sara to back away. “Lord Inu Taisho said to bring her to a guest room, but…”

Sesshomaru growled , “Leave Sara!” Sara nodded her head. She was going to grab Rin’s arm to bring her with her, but Sesshomaru interrupted her before she had the chance to do it, “Leave her.” Nodding her head Sara was out of sight in a blink of a eye.

Rin walked into the room, her heels and phone were in her hands as Sara closed the door behind her. Rin breathed in as she put her heels down along with her by the door. Sesshomaru walked off his balcony, closing the doors and over to a closed door across the room. He opened it and turned on the light. He came back out with a plain white haori in his hand. Rin looked at him and grinned. He threw the haori over to her, she caught it, but she was confused on what she was suppose to do with it.

He breathed in as he noticed Rin just stood there. He walked over to the other closed door and opened it. It was the bathroom. He figured she probably wanted to get out of her wet clothing and she didn’t want him to watch her. Rin slowly walked over to the bathroom and closed the door. While she was in the bathroom she undressed herself from her skirt and her tank tops. She decided to leave on her wet bra and panties, just in case something happened.

After five minutes undressing herself Rin walked out the bathroom in Sesshomaru’s haori, all the knots were tied. The haori was huge on her, it covered her chest all the way down to her butt. When she came out the bathroom Sesshomaru was laying on his bed, his eyes were closed and his head was laid back on the soft pillows at the top of his bed. Rin stared at him as she slowly walked back into the room, closing the bathroom door behind her.

At this time she didn’t know what to do. Should she just say thank you and leave. Or should she stay and try to get him to explain a few things about this whole mating and connection stuff. She sighed as she headed for the bedroom door. Breathing in a large amount of air she bent down grabbing her heels and her phone. Getting back up she put her hand on the door knob, while whispering her thank you’s, “Thank you…” Rin headed out the bedroom door, closing it softly as she walked down the hall.

She had her phone, heels and wet clothes in her hands as she walked through the halls. She wondered if she would be able to get down stairs on her own. After wondering the many halls and walking down a few stairs cases she finally came in sight of the main hall. No one was there. Rin sighed as she went to walk through the hall Sookie took her through to get to the lake outside, when Kagome came running inside the hall.

Kagome smiled as she stopped in front of Rin. She looked down and grinned, “Hey Rin, what are you wearing?”

Rin blew out air as she answered her friends question. “My clothes are soaking wet, since stupid Inuyasha pushed me into the lake. So I’m forced to wear this…” Holding her arms out, “his haori from one of his kimono’s.” Kagome giggled as she reached out to touch the fabric on her friends body.

“It’s soft, and smooth.” Kagome whispered as she rubbed her fingers into the fabric, “a bit silky as well.” Rin nodded her head. Rin didn’t even think about feeling the fabric. Of course on her the haori was soft, and smooth, but she never thought about what it made her body feel like. Kagome let go of the fabric and looked at her friend up and down, the haori covered her chest and her butt, and just a bit of her thighs. Everything else was exposed for the world to see. “Ever think about getting those legs of yours covered, who knows what praying eyes are going to try to sneak a peak.” Kagome gave her a wink, Rin playfully punched her arm as she put her arms over her chest, crossing them.

Rin sat down on the stairs waiting for Sookie. Her wet clothes were set down next to her as a maid came walking through the halls. She had a sports bag with her. It was black and had silver letters. She stood in front of Kagome and Rin and bowed her head before saying, “Lady Sookie asked me to give this to you Miss Dearily.” Rin nodded her head as she took the bag and thanked her, “Lady Sookie and Lord Inu Taisho are in the middle of a important conversation. She said she will be able to take you home afterwards, unless you’d like to leave now.”

Shaking her head the servant nodded then walked away and disappeared through the doors heading toward the dinning hall. Kagome watched her disappear in front of her eyes. When she was completely out of sight she looked toward at Rin and watched her place her wet clothes in the sports bag. Kagome sat down next to Rin and huffed.

Rin stared at her as she noticed Kagome started giggling, “What’s so funny Kagome?”

“Rin did you ever think that maybe one day we’d be family?” Shaking her head Kagome, “Were going to be sister-in-laws in a few months. It’s a bit of a shock to me, since we’ve been friends since the start of high school, and now were going to be family.” Kagome rested her hand on her knee as she continued on chattering, “We’re both going to be living in this beautiful and extremely large estate. Aren’t you excited?”

Rin laughed, Kagome looked at her, she was puzzled on what was funny. Did she say something weird? “Excited? No! Freaked out? Yes!” Kagome didn’t understand. “I’d love to live in this estate, its beautiful, wonderful, the scenery is out-of-this-world. But it’s who I have to live here with!” Kagome nodded her head, now understanding what she meant. She forgot Sesshomaru had avoided Rin every chance he got. Now Rin has to deal with his attitude, and his controlling, dominant, ignorant self. “The good thing about this situation is Sookie, and how I will soon be her daughter-in-law.”

“I forgot all about him Rin. I’m sorry.” Rin shrugged her shoulder, “You could always avoid him, and distance yourself from him. He did it to you.”

“Do you know how painful that will be?” Kagome shook her head, “You don’t know how much pain I would be in if I did that. It was hard enough when he avoided me every chance he got, but doing the same would hurt more. Just because I bare his mark, doesn’t mean that weird pull will stop throbbing every second I’m away from him.” Kagome didn’t understand how much pain she was in when she was away from him. Her body and mind and soul pulled her to him when he’s far away from her, but she tried to avoid a confrontation with him.

Kagome huffed and puffed as Inuyasha came walking around the corner. Inuyasha had a huge smile on his face. He looked like he just changed into a dry kimono. Rin grinned and huffed as he came toward them both. Inuyasha saw the look Rin gave him which caused him to smile, “Aww, Rin you can’t honestly still be mad at me!”

“Mad? No Inuyasha I’m not mad. I’M FURIOUS!!!” Inuyasha backed away from her as he smiled at her again. Rin’s voice echoed through the halls as she got up to walk away.

“Now, now, now Rin, there’s no reason to be mad at me. Or furious. We were just having fun…” Rin growled through her teeth as he laughed. “Looks like you dry now, so you shouldn’t be angry.”

Rin shook her head as she stood up from the stairs. She felt a breeze coming from the top of the stairs. She grinned as she felt a cold presence around her, and it wasn’t Inuyasha and Kagome. “No thanks to you. I wouldn’t have to get dried if you didn’t pull me into the lake, you asshole.”

Inuyasha thought it was funny. He made Rin mad. He just was playing and having fun, but Rin didn’t seem to like the way he played, “Come now Rin, your just being overdramatic about this…”

“Whatever!” Rin pulled down the haori a little, trying to cover the bits of her thigh that was showing now as she stood from the stairs. She went walking to the doors that lead to the hallways that lead to the lake outside.

That cold presence that was blowing all around her was Sesshomaru. She knew it. She felt it, felt him. When she turned to see if he was there, no one was there, just the breeze coming from the top of the stairs. It was bad enough that she had to wear a piece of his kimono. She didn’t want to have to hear him annoy her with it either. Kagome stayed sitting on the stairs as Inuyasha sat in the seat Rin rose from.

Rin walked through a few halls after leaving her friend to speak to her mate-to-be. They had things they would need to go over. Kagome didn’t understand bits and pieces of a demon mating cycle. For one, she didn’t understand the part of the marks a demon give to their partner. There was three marks in total, one which the women or men (human men) are born with, another where the demon male or women mark their soon-to-be mate to show their ownership over them, to show they are taken and is to be stayed away from. The last is the actual mark. The mark that binds both the mates together and shows that they are official mates.

Kagome hated the fact that Sesshomaru had marked Rin, but it was needed, especially when Hitoshi wouldn’t get a clue that she was his. Now that the mark is on her neck Hitoshi will have to stay away from her, if not Sesshomaru will have to step in and set him straight. And what Kagome wouldn’t accept is having to submit to her mate when the time comes. It was needed. The male demon always wants to feel dominant and more powerful then their mate, but Kagome won’t accept it.

Submitting to her mate was something the demon consul and the cycle of mating included. Complete submission. No buts, no complaints, no whining about it. Rin will soon submit one day, but right now, disobedience was needed. She enjoyed disobeying Sesshomaru, it brought her joy. He didn’t deserve her submission. After all he knew she was destined to be with him, and he felt her pain and yet he still ignored her and avoided her every chance he got. How dare he!

Rin was still angered by the way he treated her. He ignored her pain, ignored the pull just for his own selfish reasons. What a jerk. Rin walked through the halls and back outside where the lake shone. The way the light from the moon beamed off the lake and all around it amazed her. Rin sat under one of the cherry blossom trees, closest to the lake. Rin put her feet in the lake and looked out toward the water fall. the water seemed to flow into the lake perfectly.

If only my life was perfect. Rin looked up into the stars and smiled. It was lovely out tonight. There was just one problem the burning sensation in her neck that throbbed. And I thought the burning and hurt would subside in a hour or so. she put her hand on her neck and ran her fingers slowly over the mark. She felt the engraved crescent moon on her neck. And the teeth marks that were engraved into her neck as well, well until they mate he will need to mark her a final time and this mark will forever be permanent and it will be darker then this one and the teeth marks will not show. I’m so in over my head.

She sighed as she looked over the balcony across from where she is sitting at. She watched as a shadow figure disappeared into the dark room behind him. Yes it was a him. How did she know that? That was the balcony of her rude and human-hating mate, well soon-to-be mate. He must have been watching her, to try to catch her off-guard and force her to submit to him, under his will. And she refuses to.

Why should she submit to a man that hates her? Hates her nature? Everything about her? If he expects her to give into him and submit, he’s going to have to show a bit of compassion and drop his human-hating pride of his. She will not be mocked or ignored for any matter. That was one thing she simply would not allow. Its not like she can say no to the demon consul. She had no say so in what decisions the demon consul chose, even though she was human, she much oblige by there rules if she was chosen by them.

She might be able to understand him more if he just opened up to her. And not hide from her and ignore her. Maybe Inu Taisho could talk to him, or maybe she could find out a few things about him. Things that she knows he won’t admit to her. Or anyone for that matter. Or maybe she could ask him why he chose her for his cold hearted son who obviously hates her.

Rin sighed as she pulled out her phone, she gasped as she looked at the time. It was almost midnight. Wow she had been at the estate for hours. Humph. Rin thought as stared out at the lake.

She didn’t hear the soft voice behind her until it was too late. “Rin?” Rin quickly turned around to find Sookie staring at her. Her golden eyes were glowing as they stared down at the shaken girl in front. “It’s cold out here, I think it’s best if I get you inside, before you freeze.” Nodding her head, Sookie put her hand on Rin’s back as they walked into the Estate once more. Before they got back to the Main Hall Sookie whispered to Rin, “I’m guessing that haori belongs to my son.” Rin nodded her head, as Sookie giggled. “The servant girl Sara must have thought Inu Taisho wanted her to bring you to his room instead of a guest room.”

They walked into the hall as they saw Inu Taisho was talking to his son. Inuyasha was on the stairs talking to Kagome. Izayoi was talking with Sara. Sookie’s head turned to the buzzing clock that just stroke twelve. She gasped as she looked back at Rin. “I believe it is time I take you home my dear. I wouldn’t want to worry your aunt.” Rin nodded her head as she waited for Sookie to say another thing, but Inu Taisho spoke up first.

“Sookie, have Kano drive her home. He’s taking Kagome home as well. I need to speak to you before you decide to leave.” Sookie nodded her head then looked over to Rin to see if that was alright.

Rin said nothing. Inuyasha spoke up, “Let me take them home father…” Inuyasha looked over to Rin, “I can take you home Rin.”

“I rather not…” Kagome looked at her puzzled. “I’m still pretty mad at you for your little stunt by the lake. I would rather walk before getting in a car with you.” Inuyasha growled. He felt insulted. He was just playing with her, and now she was just taking it too serious.

Sookie looked over to Sesshomaru, then at Inu Taisho. “Can this talk wait to morning Inu Taisho? I can’t let Rin walk home. And I doubt that she will want to get in a car with a complete stranger like Kano by herself.”

Inu Taisho growled. He needed to speak to her about Rin. And it was urgent. It couldn’t wait until morning. He looked over to his oldest son and growled. Sesshomaru glared at him. Knowing what his father wanted. He cursed under his breath. “Sesshomaru drive her home.” when he shook his head no and went walking up stairs Inu Taisho rushed in front of him.

She is your responsibility now. Inu Taisho growled at his son. He spoke in a ancient language that was only known by demons. Human didn’t understand a work they said, they just thought they were growling back and forth at each other.

Sesshomaru growled back at him, before trying to get past his father.She’s only my responsibility because you made her my responsibility. He looked at Rin and saw a disappointed look on her face. She shook her head as she went to walk for the door, attempting to walk home on her own.

If something happens to her it will be your fault for not protecting her. You may think you don’t need her, but you do. Sesshomaru ignored his father.

He could hear Rin’s yawn from a few feet away. She was tired and now she was going to try to walk home. He wouldn’t allow that. No matter how much he hated her, he needed to protect her. She was the thing standing in front of him taking over his lands and his fathers company. He growled before rushing to her side and grabbing her arm. Not too rough he forced her to look at him. His eyes staring down at her own, before groaning, “Let’s go!”

Sookie was amazed at how Inu Taisho got their son to take her. Pushing his buttons wasn’t helping. But when he saw the looked she had on her face and how tired she seemed he gave in. Sesshomaru walked outside the double oak doors and over to his black Ferrari. Rin followed closely behind him. She got in the passengers seat and put on her seat belt. Sesshomaru did the same, starting the car he zoomed out the drive way and down the street.

In less then five minutes they were in front of her house. Sesshomaru speed through the slow traffic and took short cuts to her house. He knew where she lived without her telling him. Maybe it was his instincts. Or maybe he remembered the street she lived on when he saved her from the crazed demon in the alley the day before. Rin thanked him, although she hated it, she stayed polite. She got out his car with her wet clothes and her heels in her hand and her phone in the hidden pocket in the haori along with her keys.

Rin got to her front door, she put her key in and unlocked it. She turned to see Sesshomaru drive off. She shook her head before walking into her house, closing the door softly. She rushed into her room to change out of his haori. It was rather comfortable. But she was still cold.

All she wanted right now was to change clothes and get some sleep before having to wake up to go to school.

Author Note: Alright, there you go. Finally another update. I wrote this chapter during my vacation to Mississippi and Louisiana. I had most of the chapter finished. But when my father begun annoying the crap out of me I was too distracted and upset to write. Sorry for your wait. I’m starting on the fifth chapter now, should be finished sometime next week. Or maybe in two or three days depending if my cousin don’t annoy me, I won’t be able to get any work done if he does.

Next chapter involves what will happen when Rin wakes from her sleep and remembers what happened the night before. After school Sookie comes to takes Rin shopping, Rin not knowing that once they got home her whole room is refurnished. And Sookie gives Rin something very precious to her.
