Chapter 8
_______________________________________
The screen went wild with colors and Kagome's car was slowly being turned clock wise giving everyone a good look at it. Cheering was heard from the speakers and and…out here? Kagome jumped a bit in her seat and turned. Sango, Inutaisho, Iwakami, Nobunaga, Rouyakan, and even Shoir were cheering.
"Are?" (Ah-reh) Kagome swished her head from side-to-side, blushing crimson. "Nani desu ka?" Kagome asked looking at each person's face. She flinched at Gin's cold/chilling (Which do you think works best?) glare; she averted her eyes and looked at Inutaisho's beaming smile.
"Well you see, my son here is perfect in everything he does, so losing to someone, and a female at that, is kind of shocking." Inutaisho's eyes twinkled; Kagome nodded slowly then had a surprised, panicked look on her face. She stood up and walked around to Gin's end surprising everyone.
Kagome bowed deeply and spoke, "Gomen Nasai, Gin-sama I didn't know this. I hope this doesn't make us enemies because of my obsession of proving myself, and I hope we can be friends." She straightened and fiddled with her fingers waiting for an answer, she knew how big a demon's pride could be; and hurting one can leave you on their bad side…or their obsessed-to-beat-you side.
The place was quiet, all stunned by Kagome's sincere apology. Everyone turned their eyes to Gin who had his usual stoic expression on. "Forgiven."
Kagome, in returned, smiled brighter than the sun, relief flooding through her.
"Really? Great, gosh I was scared there for a second! Umm…yeah, wanna play pool? I will let you win…half way…I'll think about it…" Kagome grabbed both `Kiwi-chan' (Sango's code name) and Gin's hand and with surprising strength dragged them both to the pool table.
When Kagome turned to look back at Shoir, he was rooted to the spot, huffing.
Kagome dragged him over too.
"Kiwi-chan is on my team!" Kagome hauled over a stunned/scared Sango, leaving the two brothers glancing at each other...or more Shoir glanced at Gin; and Gin directed an annoyed/glare at Shoir.
"Prepare to lose, wench and friend of wench." Shoir grinned sadistically, earning a `what are you, crazy?' stare from both females. "So since I'm going to win you can brake." Shoir said arrogantly.
"Chi, forget about that offer about letting you males win." Kagome leaned over the table; giving every one a nice view of her behind.
A sharp `Plank' sound echoed a bit and a solid blue ball rolled into the top right corner pocket. "We're solids," Kagome grinned triumphantly, "you're stripes, we're not going to play steal other person's ball." Kagome smirked and winked at Sango who smirked back.
The game went by fast: Sango was very good since she had a strong hit; at least until Shoir say that the girls were winning, and knocked Kagome in the side so she'd hit a ball too short.
"What was that for?!" Kagome yelled at Shoir, who replied with a sneer. "I didn't do nothin'! It's not my fault you're clumsy, wench."
Shoir took his turn smiling, "Oh I'll show you clumsy..." Kagome muttered and poked Shoir in the side with her stick. Shoir jumped, hitting the eight ball dangerously close to the top left pocket.
"Wench! You did that on purpose!" Shoir rounded on her. By now they were receiving a crowd looking on amused, (showing on their face or not) at the argument worthy of four-year-olds.
"Well this might take awhile, as countless of times Shoir's been arguing with Gin tsk tsk…such fire…admirable." Inutaisho shook his head, and sat on a sofa watching. Then Kagome said something that made everyone freeze.
"Arggg! Your exactly like this one hot headed guy from my friend's school!" Kagome yelled in Shoir's face, hands on her hips.
"Oh, and who is this? Should I care?" Shoir crossed his arms and glared down at her enhanced beautiful face. `Whoa I mean not beautiful…maybe attractive…Ack no way!'
"Ha! You even act like him, I saw him once…" Kagome leaned back and calmed down; grinning as she remembered what she did that day in gym class.
"Wench, stop day-dreaming! I would like to know who you are comparing me to." Shoir rolled his eyes and dropped his arms to his side.
Kagome snorted and looked at him, "The jerk's name is Inuyasha. I was hiding earlier in a tree today outside of the school; and saw his butt get whooped by a girl in soccer, ha! It was so funny!" Kagome didn't realize the silence and kept on going.
"My friend came up to me and made sure I saw that, I couldn't stop laughing-nani?" Sango was tugging her towards the door.
"Come on Eien, time to go, you can bash other people's friends later." Sango put her hands between Kagome's shoulder blades and pushed her out the door.
"Okay, okay I'm going! Bye Peoples!"
Kagome waved as her head disappeared around the doorframe, Nobunaga and Rouyakan following behind shaking their heads. I swear she loses her head when she fights." Iwakami-san shook his head as the door closed.
"See ya downstairs, Rouyakan-san!" Kagome exclaimed as the elevator door closed. Rouyakan grinned and opened a steel door that led to a square platform outside of the building that could hold a party of at least five or six youkai.
He jumped down and landed on a circle mark on the ground below. This was the Youkai express. (I made that up a few chapters ago…I thought it would be funny.)
"EIEN!" Nobunaga rounded on Kagome as he got into the car, "NANI!" Kagome yelled back pouting, "What did I do?" Kagome received looks from every one, "You almost gave away your identity! Remember no clues to who you are?" Nobunaga snapped.
Kagome narrowed her eyes and turned red. "Well what if I'm tired of hiding? I'm tired of having my identity a secret! Ever since father died, it was secret this secret that, don't do this, don't do that!" Kagome waved her hand in the air.
"I didn't say anything for awhile because I thought it was fun," Kagome snorted, "Yeah, and I didn't argue because it was my father's wish not to tell anyone `Until the right time' I was there when he said it to me!" Kagome whipped away angrily as tears began to fall.
"I don't want to hide anymore. I'm tired of it." Kagome slumped and leaned into the leather exterior of the limo looking down at her perfectly manicured hands.
"EIEN MIAKA!!!! WE LOVE YOOOOOU!!!!!!!!!!!!" A crowd of fans had suddenly run to the sides of the limo, banging on the window and trying to look past the tinted glass.
Kagome sighed and pushed the intercom button to the driver. "We need to tighten up security. Who leaked out that I'd be here today?"
"Sorry Eien, the head of security retired, and his replacement is a real nut-case." Nobunaga called back.
Her cell phone rang, and she punched the talk button.
"What?"
There was some talking on the line, Kagome listened calmly, and clicked the phone off. "Aaaargh!!"
"Kago-chan, what is it???"
"Iwakami really needs to stop setting up concerts without telling me!!!" She screamed thinking back to yesterday when she saw the posters.
"What are you talking about, Kago-chan?" Sango asked.
Her friend snapped her fingers, oblivious to Sango's words. "Aha! Iwakami doesn't have a secretary! But who can I get to go in to work as one? Hmm…"
Sango was puzzled at her friend's scheming. "Kago-chan, this isn't anything like you…well as long as I've known you"
"Yeah, well I have a limit before I've had too much, and Iwakami has exceeded it. Now, I need someone to tell me about any more concerts before it is too late to cancel! That way I won't have to wait to find out when it's on posters all over town and in front of the damn building I was in." Kagome glared at something that was not there.
"Iwakami did it again?!" Sango had thought he had stopped, she knew she would have after the earful her friend had given.
"Yup, in December my next concert is right before winter break"
There was silence as they dropped off Kagome at Sango's home: she wanted to meet Sango's family. Sango seemed a bit hesitant but grimly nodded, Kagome took note of this but didn't ask.
"Stop here, it would create suspicion if a limo dropped me off…in my type of neighborhood." Sango stared out the window; she took of the sunglasses and handed them to Kagome.
"No, they're yours. Keep them, as well as the clothes I gave you." Kagome stated gently as she pushed the sunglasses back to her friend.
"…Thank you…" Sango managed to get out; her eyes wide and she blushed pink.
"No probs'." Kagome smiled as they got out: she'd returned to her original self in her school uniform.
Sango led Kagome to her house, her head down the whole way. Kagome looked around thinking the neighborhood wasn't the best, it was somewhat…I guess you can say…'Homey'. It wasn't exactly middle-class but slightly under.
`Is this why Sango is a bit embarrassed?' Kagome thought as they entered a smoky gray-blue and dark gray house.
"Its not the best but-" Sango started as they reached the porch.
"Sango, I could care less if you lived in a hut, you'll always be my best friend…hmm." Kagome smiled, "It's kind of funny, it feels like I've known you for a long time." She laughed.
Sango smiled, "Yes it does, I felt the same way when I first met you…well, come inside, I want you to meet my parents!" Sango brightened, and opened the door.
"Yoi Otou-san, Okaa-san, Kohaku! Come here, I want you to meet a new friend!" Sango yelled at the top of her lungs.
Kagome winced, but giggled as she heard foot steps come down the stairs and hallway. "Yoi where's the fire?" A boy around fourteen came down with a pair of headphones around his neck. He was slightly shorter than Sango. (Sango's like 5'7)
His eyes widened as he saw Kagome and blushed looking down. Sango noticed this and grinned, Kagome didn't see because she was looking at Sango's parents. `Hi! I'm Higurashi, Kagome; it's a pleasure to meet you!" Kagome said cheerfully and bowed politely.
Kagome met the family and got to know them more, Kohaku was surprisingly shy towards her and she wondered why. `Maybe he's just a shy boy?' she thought as she smiled at him. He blushed and looked away. "Aww you're cute when you blush…" Kagome clapped her hands together.
"I'm going upstairs…" Kohaku mumbled and ran out the room.
Kagome shrugged. `Boys and calling them cute do not mix, I guess.' Kagome got to know Sango's parents more. Her father worked at a somewhat failing office job and Sango's mother works as a secretary in a small building. `To put it plainly, they were somewhat poor…hmm…I have an idea!' Kagome grinned ear to ear.
"Well I have, I believe, good news. Your beloved daughter is working for a famous pop star call Eien Miaka." Kagome hugged Sango to her side, "Yoi Kohaku come out! I know you're there." Kagome looked towards the door; there was a squeal and Kohaku walked in red-faced.
"Haha, very funny Kagome!" Sango nervously glanced at her friend.
"No, Sango. if something happened to you, your parents need to know who to call." Kagome nodded.
"What do you mean?" Mrs. Taijai asked, looking at the stares Kagome and Sango shared.
"Well, it's like this. I am Higurashi, Kagome, but I'm the true identity of Eien Miaka the spunky pop singer. I hid my identity because of my father's wishes before he died." Kagome released Sango from her side. "Sango is working as an undercover. I guess you could say bodyguard and best friend."
"Iwakami-sama suggested it so I wouldn't get too lonely. If you want, you can work under him and come with us on trips to different places. Sango will be paid 53501.29 yen a month, not much, but it will raise after the second month."
"Oh, Kagome no way!" Sango looked at Kagome her mouth open.
"Sango, you're working no matter which way you put it, so when someone works they get payed so there." Kagome stuck out her tongue.
Silence was all around. "Are you serious?" Kohaku gasped, mouth open.
"Yep! Here, I'll call Iwakami-sama." Kagome speed dialed Iwakami's number, "Yoi tick, I'm talking to Sango's parents. Would you like to talk to them?" There was a sigh on the other line and a `okay you win'. "Great! Ah here, Iwakami-san." Kagome handed Sango's mother the phone.
"Ah Iwakami-sama?" Mrs. Taijai asked nervously, she turned pale, then flushed and handed the phone to Mr. Taijai looking straight ahead unseeingly to the wall.
"I think your mothers shocked." Kagome whispered to Sango.
"Kaa-san? Yoi wake up." Kohaku shook Mrs. Taijai shoulder lightly,
"She's right…I have a new job at the personal assistant to Iwakami-sama…oh my goodness." Mrs. Taijai kept looking at the wall open-mouthed.
"Finally! He's been looking for an assistant for months! It's about time." Kagome said while Mr. Taijai handed her the phone slightly shocked.
"He just made me head of security…the other one retired…"
Kagome smiled, "NICE! That's a very good position." Kagome nodded, agreeing to Iwakami's decision. `Otherwise he'd be getting an earful.' Kagome grinned at that though; outside the sun was setting.
"Oh, I'd better go! My mama might get worried!" Kagome stood up and bowed.
"Thank you." Was all Sango's parents could say with their shocked expression. Sango walked Kagome to the door. Just when Sango opened the door, Kohaku ran in.
"Matte! Ah, Higurashi-sama?" Kohaku looked at the floor,
"Ah Kohaku-chan, call me Kagome…or Gome…Or Kago." Kagome looked up at the ceiling. "Anyway, yes?"
"Well I was wondering…umm, well there's a dance coming up in a month and I was wondering if, Eien Miaka…Ah never mind!" Kohaku blurted and ran upstairs.
"Ne, are?" (Ah-reh remember that!) Kagome looked at Sango for help, she only shrugged.
"There's a dance and singing show celebrating Shichi-go-san, for the little kids." Sango opened the door, "They're sponsoring a Shinto shrine east of here, for the small festival." Sango grinned. "I guess he was going to ask Eien Miaka to sing there." Sango laughed.
"Oh…I'll ask her, Ja ne." Kagome ran off smiling.

"Iwakami-sama."
"Hai Nobunaga-san?"
"She doesn't want to be hidden anymore."
There was a sigh, "Ee, I have noticed it over the last three years."
"What will we do?"
"I believe it is time. Call Aoigawa, he will think of something."
"Hai."
