Chapter 14

Kagome found the bathroom and went in carrying the clothes over one arm. The bathroom was identical to Sesshoumaru's. `I wonder if all the bathrooms here are all a like?' Kagome wondered as she filled up the large tub.

Removing her own clothes, she stepped into the bath. "Ahhhh…..nice…..yes, I've just found my best friend." After forty-five minutes of relaxing and washing up, Kagome got out and put on the clothes she chose.

Admiring herself in the mirror, she put her air in a messy but stylish bun with cherry wood hair sticks and thick straight strands framing her face over her ears and a few wavy strands cascading down her back.

"Do I look good…..yeah, I'm fine." Smiling she looked through the cabinets and found a container of clear lip-gloss, and ice-blue eye shadow that was so pale it was barely noticeable. "There." She finished.

Kagome carried Sesshoumaru's shirt and her bra and put them on the bed. She went back into the closet and looked through the large variety of shoes. (I'm in heaven just thinking about this, oh my gosh!)

She picked out a pair of light blue slippers and put them on, `there, all done.' Kagome twirled in the mirror, "A flash to the medieval times." She giggled. Silver caught her eye, and when she turned to look there was Sesshoumaru leaning against an elegant bedpost.

Kagome blushed as she looked him over; he was wearing a wife beater top and an unbuttoned beige dress shirt and a pair of nice fitting jeans. Kagome blink owlishly at him and then look down blushing. "How long…have you been standing there?" Kagome asked shuffling her foot on the floor.

"…………" Was Kagome's answer, when she looked up Sesshoumaru was a few feet away from her, she blinked at him and stepped back out of surprise. "How do you do that?" Kagome asked looking from the bed to Sesshoumaru; he only tilted his head a fraction.

Kagome caught the look of amusement in his eyes, "Do what?" He said.

Kagome blinked, "You're in one place, then at another in a blink of an eye."

He shrugged. "I don't know what you're talking about, your mind is probably too slow to grasp when someone is walking to you." Kagome huffed at the sparkle of amusement in his eyes.

"Well sorry for forgetting your demon." Kagome put her hand on her hips, and lend forward.

"Apology accepted." Sesshoumaru took a step back.

"NANI?!" Kagome yelled. "That wasn't meant to be an apology!" Kagome flushed as she poked a finger at Sesshoumaru's chest.

"Then what was it?" He replied catching her wrist and bringing it over his shoulder as he lend forward.

Kagome blushed and stared at his face so close to hers, her heart felt like it was caught in her throat as she tried to swallow. "Ano…..nothing?" Kagome's blushed darkened as he smirked, showing one canine fang. He straightened but didn't let go of her hand.

"Um….." Kagome was about to speak when a deafening clap of thunder shook the mansion and the light flickered off. She yelled, and out of reflex turned and pressed her back to Sesshoumaru's chest with her arms crossed over her chest; lighting flashed blue four times, illuminating the room then leaving it in the darkness.

After a few seconds, Kagome opened her eyes. It was dark; the lights were busted. Kagome made a cute, small noise as she felt a rumbling against her back. "Scared?" Sesshoumaru's voice flowed thought the silence of the room.

"I don't like thunder." Kagome whispered. There was another rumble of thunder from farther away; but it was loud enough to make Kagome jump again and press into Sesshoumaru more.

"I've always afraid of it since…..I was four, I didn't like loud noises." Kagome tensed as light flashed. "Well it going to be a long night for you then." Sesshoumaru said looking down at the small girl pressed to him.

"What do you mean?" Kagome tilted her head back.

"The storm started from the south east and the winds are blowing it over here. There was plenty of moisture this month so we're not even in the middle of the storm, we have about another two hours until the eye of the storm has come and then another forty-five to an hour until it passes." Sesshoumaru explained.

"Oh no..…" Kagome dreaded and jumped again as another thunderclap came and went. "I think I'll be dead before tomorrow." Kagome grumbled, as she loosened the death grip on Sesshoumaru's sleeve.

"Come. Dinner will be served in twenty minutes and we have `guests'," Sesshoumaru almost growled, "coming over, and will probably be staying over as well." Sesshoumaru took Kagome's hand and led her through the secret door to his room.

They walked out of the door, Kagome clinging onto Sesshoumaru's arm, as they walked down the twists of hallways and corridors. Kagome loosened her hold on Sesshoumaru's arm as they reached the grand staircase. Kagome sneezed cutely then sniffed.

`My throat hurts a little bit.' Kagome thought as a knock sounded through the large entrance room. The muscles in Sesshoumaru's arm tensed then relaxed; Kagome let go thinking that was the indication that she should let go now.

Sesshoumaru gracefully glided down the steps. Kagome heard the heavy patter of feet to her left. "Kagome-onee-chan!" Rin hugged her leg and looked up adoringly.

"When did I become your sister Rin-chan?" Kagome asked, bending down to Rin's level.

"Rin decide since Rin met you." Rin smiled a gap tooth grin then she looked worried. "If that's okay, Rin has never had a sister and….." Rin's cute bunny ears drooped.

"Of course I'll be you sister!" Kagome hugged Rin. The door opened, and voices and the sound of rain echoed through the room. "Come on imouto-chan." Kagome stood up taking a happy Rin's hand and ran down the stairs laughing with the energetic girl.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin has a new sister!" Rin showed Kagome's hand in hers.

Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at Kagome, "What? I always wanted a little sister." Kagome smiled as she turned to the three people that just came in.

"Naraku-kun?" She stared. "No, that can't be Naraku-kun….." Kagome grinned as she walked around the young dark haired man. Naraku was wearing a black, silk dress shirt and khaki colored cargo pants; some of his hair was tied up while the rest cascaded down his back.

"Haha." Naraku joked smirking, making Kagome shiver, `Oh not again with the shivers.' Kagome barely blushed, and turned to the other two men standing looked at her.

"Gomen ne, I am Higurashi, Kagome." Kagome bowed and the both inclined their heads. "I go to Naraku-kun's school."

"I am Kuromoto, Oniguma." Oniguma bowed but kept his gaze on Kagome, which made her uneasy.

"I am just Iwakami." Iwakami said nervously. `Why is she here? Oh no…..think fast think fast!' Kagome rolled her eyes playfully at him, hoping no one noticed.

"Sooo….." Kagome said, rounding on Naraku. "What are you doing here?"

Naraku took one-step back and looked at what Kagome was wearing "Going to talk about…..stuff." Naraku smirked as his eyes met hers.

"Oh is that so? What kind of `stuff'?" Kagome swirled back and gave Iwakami a suspicious look.

"Oh hahaha…..nothing much, just, ah, you know..…grown up stuff, none of the stuff you kids are interested in." Iwakami laughed and inched away.

Inuyasha was looked back and fourth from both of them. "Hey!"

Everybody's attention was on him as he pointed an accusing finger at Kagome, looking irritated and suspicious. "So you're that singer wench's friend!"

`HE DID NOT JUST!' Kagome fumed then calmed down to a dangerous level. Iwakami and Naraku, who were the nearest to her, stepped back. "Who? Lil' o' Me? I wouldn't know who you are talking about; I don't know any `Wench'." Kagome's voice was sweet with a snip of arsenic.

Inuyasha ignored the warning signs, since he was too humiliated and riled up. "Yeah don't play dumb, chit, you're not that stupid..…though I could be wrong." Inuyasha poked at her and folded his arms over his chest. Kagome's aura flared and her intoxicating sent of vanilla and lily spiked with spice.

"Did just you insult me doggie boy?" Kagome slowly walked over to him, anyone in her path stepping aside. The onlookers knew better than to get in her way just then, and yet were curious of what pain she'd inflict.

Inuyasha's ears twitched. "Doggie boy?!" Inuyasha yelled, eyes flashing. "Don't you call me that, twit."

Kagome laughed, "Twit? Is that the best you can do? You're pathetic, Inu-baka."

Kagome ginned as Inuyasha's ears flattened against his head and he growled. "HEY I DESERVE RESPECT HERE!" he shouted.

"Not in my eyes. What you `deserve' is a time out, ya big baby. " Kagome said in a calm manner, her eyes twinkling with laughter.

"EXCUSE MOI?!" Inuyasha yelled.

"Wow, I didn't know you spoke French!" Kagome giggled at Inuyasha's flushed expression, she was humiliating him and he knew it.

The people around them where giggling and whispering, even the servants and maids watched them. "Vous fait excuse, peu caniche. Je devinez tu es tres jeune connais meilleur " Kagome said in perfect French. (Beta Reader: I deeply apologize any French-speaking people out there if I've mangled your language in some way. *bows*)

Inuyasha looked at her with a funny expression and said, "Huh?"

Sesshoumaru, who was standing behind and to the right of the confused half-demon, was unsuccessfully trying to hide his smirk.

"Oh, I guess you don't speak it..…your horrible accent should have warned me." Kagome grinned at Inuyasha's face.

"You are one weird little girl, you know that?" Inuyasha squinted at her.

Kagome's eyes narrowed at the term `little girl'. Behind her, Iwakami groaned, `Oh no…he's going to get it.'

Kagome took a step forward and leaned on that leg. "Little girl?" She said. "LITTLE GIRL?" She repeated again and pulled a `Sesshoumaru' as she would call it; she was in Inuyasha's face in less then a blink.

"Listen, PUPPY!" Kagome smirked at Inuyasha, "I have been to more places than you have only dreamed of going. I know things you would not even think about asking. And I hope I don't hurt your feelings, but I've just gotta say that you are inferior to me in every aspect imaginable." Kagome poked Inuyasha in the chest then backed off smiling at what she was going say. "Especially in sports."

Inuyasha glared. "That's it! Downstairs in the basement at 11:30 p.m.!" Inuyasha turned and stomped off.

Kagome turned to everybody with this incredibly convincing, innocent look on her face, her forefinger on her bottom lip said. "Gee…..I wonder what his problem is?"

Everybody smiled. (well, not everybody, you can guess, though his lips did twitch) Kagome dropped the act as Rin bounced over to her. "I know he's always like that, ignore him."

Kagome burst out laughing as did everyone else…..except Sesshoumaru, who was too busy glaring at Naraku. Naraku was oblivious though, and was busy looking at uh…..some-place on Kagome's body as she bent down to pick up Rin.

Papa (Nishitsuki-sama) was just walking into the room when Inuyasha huffed past. "Come on, dinner's ready." Kagome swept across the floor gracefully with Rin on her hip. Rin hugged Kagome's neck looking happy that she has a sister.

A candlelight dinner was served, during which Iwakami talked about the song that the new record dealers came out with. He passed the papers around and everyone stared at Kagome as she took it. Kagome saw this and gave them all funny looks, "What?" she took them and read it, and blinked owlishly, her eyes going large, "Omg!" She whispered, her heart skipped beats in happiness, "WWWHHHHEEEEEE!!" Kagome jumped up and out of her chair, then ran around the room. "I got it published I got it published! I'm rich!"

She sat back down after about a minute looked flushed and happy, "Yippy, I so happy!" She said in a freaky, sing-song tone. And to show it, she hugged the two people closest to her, who happened to be Rin and Sesshoumaru.

"Light of Love!" Kagome yelled aloud. Rin, joining in Kagome's enthusiasm, bounced in her seat. "I didn't know you wrote?" Inuyasha said from across the table as he snatched the paper away to read it.

"YOU wouldn't, you don't even know me." Kagome retorted while playing patty-cake with Rin.

Inuyasha huffed, not having anything negative to say about it. Then he passed it to Naraku, who was glancing ice-covered daggers at Sesshoumaru, who gazed boredly back.

Naraku read what was on the paper.

"When did you think of this?" Papa asked after the paper was handed back to Iwakami.

"I think it was the first day I arrived here-" Thunder shook the house again, and Kagome and Rin jumped and clamped onto Sesshoumaru's waist or arm.

Both Kagome and Rin blinked at each other and laughed. "You're afraid of storms too?"

Rin giggled, "Yep I don't know why either…I forgot." Kagome and Rin let go of an agitated Sesshoumaru, but the stayed close just in case another thunderclap decided to jump out and scare them.

Rin smiled sneakily, "Yeah well, Sesshoumaru-sama is my teddy bear, so go find someone else!" Kagome and Rin glared playfully at each other, Kagome turned her face and pouted crossing her arms.

"Fine, hog the ice cream, I'll find another dessert." Kagome, still pretending to pout, stood up and crossed to the other side of the table. "Move." She barked at Inuyasha, who grumbling moved a seat down. Kagome sat close to Naraku.

"Hi." Kagome turned to Naraku, spunky again. "I shall call you Éclair, and you shall be my Éclair…I like Éclairs." Kagome gave him a brilliant smile; Naraku patted Kagome's head, and looked at Sesshoumaru from the corner of his eye.

Sesshoumaru's expression was indifferent, not counting the look of wanting to drop glaciers on Naraku. Naraku gave him a wink, which clearly meant, `I get to be her cuddly bear not you'. Sesshoumaru's eyes hardened--if possible--even more.

"Ah yes..…ah, another thing, the….." Iwakami cleared his throat nervously. "The record dealers think it would be a big hit if Miaka-san would sing something relating to meanings of names, and ah, I have an idea." Iwakami glanced at Kagome who had a very suspicious look on her face.

`Why does this sound…..suddenly bad?' Kagome thought.

"One is called ummm, `Demon', `Silky water'…Destruction of Life, and umm." Iwakami was sweating now by the evil looks Kagome was giving him; He gulped and said quickly, "I am Protector of Life."

At that, Kagome stood up and pointed at Iwakami, "You are so on my Harsh Blackmail List now!" Then she sat down glaring at him. Iwakami had a look of dread on his face as he slowly sat in his seat and put his head down.

Oniguma who has stayed quiet all this time spoke, "And that's not a good thing?" Kagome nodded and smirked, "No…..not unless you'd like to wake up in the middle of the night to being de-manned by a dozen imported New England lobsters in your bed." All the men at the table inwardly cringed. (New England lobsters are HUGE!)

"Ah, no I-I wouldn't." Oniguma looked at Kagome strangely.

Rin yawned; Kagome saw this and got to her feet, but right as she stood, up the house shook again and the candles died. Suddenly, there were two piercing screams and a muffled `thump' of something hitting the floor.

"What fell?" Inuyasha voice was heard.

"My chair." Naraku said Inuyasha opened the door to the hallway. The candlelight lit the room.

"I thought you said…" Inuyasha stopped and blinked a few times

Rin had found her way into Sesshoumaru's lap, but Kagome…well probably not even she knew how she did it. She had managed to curl herself up on Naraku's lap, he head resting on Naraku's collarbone and some of her face block by some of Naraku's hair.

"Well…that's cute." Papa's eyes lingered on Sesshoumaru's dead-pan expression, he couldn't read a thing'. However, the dangerous flash of ki before it died made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.

"Uh..…" Kagome opened her eyes, but her sight was obscured by hair, which she gently moved out of her face and looked around at the staring faces directed at her. "Are?" Kagome looked up and her whole face and neck turned red.

`Why me?...' Kagome thought pleadingly, "Gomen nasai." Kagome jumped out of Naraku's lap and `flew' to the doorway, "Uh, hey Rin can you show me your room?" Kagome still glowing red shuffled her foot on the ground.

"Hai, come on Onii-sama!" Rin grabbed Sesshoumaru's hand and led him to the door.

"Come on! Come on!" Rin bounced to Kagome, "Oyasumi nasai, Otou-san!" Rin yelled behind her.

"Oyasumi nasai, Rin-chan." Papa smiled as he lit the candles with a flick of his wrist. Sesshoumaru inclined his head to people around the table (an extra glare to Naraku), before leaving with Kagome and Rin.

"Ja, Naraku-kun!" Kagome shouted before Rin pulled her from the room.

There was silence, as every one watched the three leave. "Ano…Oyasumi!" Inuyasha left right behind them and closed the door.

"……………………… ……" Papa stood up and smiled, "I'll have a servant show you to your rooms."

`Well this was one confusing night' Was almost everyone's thoughts.
