InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Dancing Blades, Silks, and Sakura Blossoms ❯ Chapter 3 ( Chapter 3 )
A few hours later….
Kagome sat next to Yumi and Miroku around the hearth in Kaede's hut. She kept running the same thought over and over in her mind. He loves me. Sesshomaru loves me.
Sango leaned near InuYasha. "Kagome has been strangely quiet tonight. Do you have any idea as to why, InuYasha?"
The hanyou shrugged. "Nope, but I have a feeling Miroku and Yumi do."
Yumi gave the inu hanyou an innocent look. "Where would you get such an idea, pup?"
"Stop calling me pup! It's really annoying! Anyways she's been acting like this ever since she went out to call you two in for dinner. What, did she catch the two of you mating or something?"
Miroku's face blanched. Yumi rolled her eyes. "Hentai. How could you think of such a thing, I barely know the monk!" she said firmly as she smacked the hanyou upside the head.
"That never stopped you before. Admit it, you are a horrible flirt, and he's no better! I can't even count the amount of women that bouzo has hit on in all the time I have known him."
"I am not! InuYasha, you are such an ass. The only male I ever flirted with was your brother, and that was merely to see what it would be like. I know nothing of the monk's behavior, but if he is a horrible flirt, then he is quite insecure about himself and uses it as a distraction from his own issues."
Miroku groaned. "Am I not safe from anyone?"
InuYasha laughed. "I knew you were screwed up!"
"Either that, or Miroku-sama is a homosexual," Yumi added while she sipped her tea.
Miroku's face blanched. "I most certainly am not!"
InuYasha was on the ground holding his sides in laughter. Sango was giggling as well. Shippou seemed confused while Kagome continued to stare off into space.
Yumi sighed. "This is too easy. You all are so easy to read, it's almost not worth it. Like InuYasha, he acts like an ass only to hide the fact that he's a bigger softy than a newborn kitten. I distinctly remember him as a pup, crying because he accidentally injured a rabbit that he was chasing and had pounced upon. He stayed up all night once when Sesshomaru was injured in a battle, making sure that his wounds had been taken care of and that he would be alright. Yup, InuYasha is quite the compassionate one."
InuYasha ceased laughing and was now red with embarrassment. "Remind me to kill you for that."
Yumi rolled her eyes and then continued. "Sango obviously has feelings for Miroku, who reciprocates but they refuse to believe that the other has these feelings, therefore making Miroku grope Sango more than others and Sango inflict more verbal and physical pain upon his person."
All eyes, minus Kagome, were on Yumi as she continued to drink her tea. "Then there is Kagome. She is the most conflicted out of the lot of you. She balances her lives on either side of the magical well as well as act as a pillar of strength for the four of you while trying to sort out her own feelings. She loves one that you consider an enemy; she values your opinions over all others so she denies this love. Her soul is being torn apart before your eyes and yet is chosen not to be seen by the three of you while the kit can do nothing to help her even though he wishes to. And you, InuYasha have weakened her soul more than any of you with your condescending treatment towards her and you're gallivanting off to dabble with the undead miko!" she said with a disappointed tone.
Yumi then stood and walked over to Kagome. She then glared to the others. InuYasha crossed his arms defiantly. "How would you know any of this?"
"Because I can read the souls of others. It is a part of the training of an Iaijutsu master. I plan to leave in the morning, and I plan to take Kagome-sama with me. She needs training and time to heal her already stretched and cracked spirit," she stated as she stood.
"What? But what about the jewel!" InuYasha started.
"An evil trinket that she is doomed to forever protect and some day purify. I shall assist her in collecting the shards. I will return with her in one year's time and we shall discuss the Naraku problem. I shall see you all in the morn," she said as she exited the hut to where she had set up camp.
The next morning was met with goodbyes as Kagome bid farewell to her friends. Shippou and Yumi sat by her horse, waiting as Kagome bid farewell to InuYasha.
"So… I guess this is, goodbye," InuYasha said.
Kagome nodded. "But it'll only be for a year, and then Shippou and I will be back!" she said excitedly.
InuYasha smirked. "But I'll be stuck with the bouzo and Sango, and who knows how long he'll survive around her."
Kagome giggled.
"So… who is he?" he asked.
"Nani?"
"Who Yumi said you were in love with. Who is it?" he asked.
"Promise not to freak?" she asked.
"I can't promise anything… please don't say it's Naraku," he begged.
"Eeewww! No! Of course not!"
"Then who? What enemy of mine could you… no… not him," InuYasha whispered to himself as something dawned on him.
"InuYasha?"
"It's my brother, isn't it?" he asked.
Kagome was speechless.
"Of all the guys in the world, why him?" he asked.
"Kagome has no control over who her soul is mated with," Yumi said in defense.
"Her soul? That can't be possible! She's Kikyo's reincarnation!" he shouted.
"That's where you're wrong! She is not Kikyo! She has a larger soul than that. Only part on her soul was Kikyo's she is Midoriko reincarnated in truth!" Yumi shouted. "And she is destined to be the Shikon no Tama's protector eternally and the one who will unite the human and youkai worlds! It is only right that her and Sesshomaru's souls should be mated. It was always to be so, so say the ancient prophecies. Plus, who else but she could love your brother!" Yumi joked.
InuYasha's shoulders slumped in defeat. "It's useless arguing with you, Yumi, so I'm not going to bother." He then turned to Kagome and embraced her. "I'll miss you," he whispered.
"I'll miss you too, InuYasha. I'll see you in a year's time," she said softly.
The hanyou nodded and then leapt off into the trees. Yumi smiled as she watched the young girl turn and walk towards her. She then placed a hand on the girl's shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "Worry not, Kagome, you won't be gone long."
"It's not that," Kagome said.
"You fear that Sesshomaru does not truly love you, then?" she asked.
Kagome smirked. "Can't get anything past you."
"No, you cannot, but worry not, my dear, I'm confident that he does."
Kagome smiled wider. "Okay, I'll take your word on it."
"Good, now we must be going, it's a long trip to my home," Yumi said as she turned and began to walk.
Kagome nodded and followed her new friend into the woods, heading in the direction of the Eastern Lands.
Miroku: I am not gay!
Inu: is this story going to bash me the whole time?
Levii: No! there will be much Kikyo bashing later… but Yumi will always tease.
Inu: Do I get a love interest in this?
Levii: I thought I was your love interest
Inu: I meant in the story, baka! Listen!
Sess: why have I not entered the story yet, woman?
Levii: Gah! Actors! Remember, ya'll, read and review!
