It was as if the fates were against him. How many centuries must he endure this existence? There was no beauty in the world that surrounds him, just bleakness. There was no emotion of any kind; he could not feel happiness or relief for his brother release of this cruel darkness. Inuyasha had his lifemate and he had nothing. He could barely remember anything of their past.


His brother shared some memories with him now and then, though he knew that Inuyasha was doing it to relieve him or at least give him hope. But it only causes him to fade into the darkness. His fight with the darkness within him, it sometime seemed inevitable, but through the centuries he had hanged on. Not only for himself but for his siblings and their honor, although now that his brother was saved, all Sesshomaru was left with was honor, which he found that it too was becoming nothing more.


There were times Sesshomaru could not figure if he had turned or if he was still the feared hunter he had always been. He had always risen to the hunger that gnaws inside him to the whispers of the demon that told him to let go.

To let go…if he were to do that, then the world will have more to worry about. His brother, with his emotion return would perhaps have difficulty in hunting him, to even kill him. He walked toward the city street; there were many mortals out tonight. He could hear the blood rushing through their veins; he could hear their laughter.


How the mortals had it so easy, they did not have to fear of losing their sight in color or at least to express real emotion. If Sesshomaru were to smile or at least laugh it would be a façade. Where was the woman that was made for him, or was he going to be damned liked others before him? It mattered little to him now. For he was a Carpathian hunter with honor! He would rather meet the dawn, then to ever become what he hunted nor would he place Inuyasha in the position of hunting him, not when he had his lifemate to take care of.


He felt a slight stirrings in his mind, it was Inuyasha and another precious one, perhaps they felt his struggles; he sent them reassurance that he was fine. He walked toward a bridge and stood behind the railing, he watched the moon above the lake and looked to it reflection on the shimmering water. Would this vision be beautiful to someone, was it breathtaking, he could not tell.

To him it was another night to feed, hunt and survive, to maintain what was left of him. Tonight he had to hunt, like he always has done. Tonight he shall become the relentless, feared hunter he has been known for. He held no compassion, no regrets in what he does, whatever he must do to protect others he would do it without hesitation without fear of how close he would be to the edge.


To the darkness he would never be able to return from. He turned briskly away from the view, tonight he shall sacrifice a little more of himself to preserve and protect immortal and mortals from the vile beings that fed off them.

Inside the warmth of Kagome home, he felt the struggles his brother was fighting. How he knew what Sesshomaru felt. No matter what Inuyasha could do for him, his brother can never be comforted; the only one that could do that for him was his lifemate. He now felt guilty to have found his own while his own brother was alone. Sesshomaru had always been there to watch his back to also teach him new things.


When Inuyasha had struggle with his demons, his brother was there to help him through knowing that he will be edging closer to the darkness. He watched Kagome shrugging out of her jacket placing it on the beige couch. He watched how she moved through her home gracefully, how she walked into the kitchen. He took a few more steps into her home, ending up in the living room. He looked at two bookshelves full of books, he smiled. It seemed that his lifemate was addicted to William Shakespeare works, even to the point that she had a few romance novels.



He looked around to see other pictures, he saw Kagome clinging to an older version of herself and a boy between the arms of the older woman even an old man with gray hair stood beside the woman. He could see the smiles were filled with happiness. “That my family…” Kagome walked out the kitchen with a mug in her hand. He could smell chocolate within her mug. He took a glance back at the picture, “Yes, I can see the resemblances you all seem to be very happy with one another” she smiled and walked next to Inuyasha. “I was about 18 when we took that picture…” Inuyasha eyes wander to another picture that held Kagome friend, Sango. She was with another man with short dark hair and violet eyes it was a wedding picture.


His eyes landed on another, an older man, with shaggy raven hair and blue eyes. Eyes that were exactly like Kagome, he held within his arm a child, one that looks exactly like Kagome. He moved his hand to touch the picture frame and turned to his lifemate “You’re father…” he said it more as a statement then a question. Kagome eyes flashed into sadness when she looked at the picture Inuyasha pointed too. “Yes…” sometimes looking at this picture brought her joy and soon too sadness.


“And this little one must be you…” he took a hold of her free hand, Kagome looked toward their clasped hands to Inuyasha golden eyes. “Yes…me and my dad. I was three…he died when I was 12; my little brother Souta was about 8. It was…” she swallowed back the lump she felt in her throat. Inuyasha took her drink and placed it on the shelves and took Kagome within his arms. He wished not to see his woman so sad.



Kagome rubbed her face against Inuyasha chest, trying to hold back tears. She breathed in his scent and felt comfort, felt safe in his arms. “One night he went to get Souta some medicine, he had the flu. And then hours passed by and I remember mom pacing back and forth at the front door waiting for my dad, then we gotten a call…we were told that he was killed” she felt the tears rolling down her face as she recalled that night.


Her father was her best friend, he understood her more than anyone. He shared the same ability like her; he told her stories and always came to pick her up from school. She was devastated to hear the death of her father to the point that she didn’t understand why anyone would kill such a wonderful person. “To this day…we never found who took his life” she buried her face into his chest. “I’m sorry…”he muttered against the top of her head as he held her close.


Inuyasha was controlling his anger, he was angry that someone dared to take and hurt his lifemate in such a way. Kagome pulled partially away from Inuyasha and wiped the tears from her eyes; she looked up to him and tried a smile. “I’m sorry…I didn’t mean to start bawling like a baby,” she laughed bitterly. Inuyasha moved his hand to her cheeks and stroke it, “There is no need to apologizes…you have a right to cry out your pain”


Kagome did the unexpected; she wrapped her arms around his neck and stood on her tiptoes and kissed him. She really didn’t understand, but she found that she loved to be in his arms. That she, definitely, love to kiss this man. She pulled back and smile, “Thank you,” she whispered against his lips.


He growled when she pulled away, but gave a nip at her lips when she thanked him. “Inuyasha…” “Hmm?” he moved his head to nuzzle her neck, to breath in her scent. “And what about you?” he kissed her neck, “What about me?” confused by her question. Kagome moaned, but soon moved away, she wanted to know him before they even think about going to the next level, which in her case would perhaps take long, but then again she had a feeling Inuyasha would most likely not take long; she blushed at that.


She looked into his golden eyes, “You’re family? How were you with them?” he blinked at her innocent questions, he never really thought about his past much. But he gave a faraway look, as if it pains him to remember his family. “My parents die when I was a fledging…” he remembered his father and mother death, they were murdered while trying to help people in their village, but they had attacked them all during the day.


That was when his people were at their weakest. Kagome wrapped her arms around his waist and held him, “I’m so sorry Inuyasha…” he raised her head to meet his eyes. “It alright…” “It not alright you were left alone without them! I mean I may have lost one parent…but you were left with none” she wanted to weep for him. Inuyasha lean in to kiss her, she touch his heart, for centuries he had no one who wanted to cry for him.


He parted and smiled, “I was not completely alone…” “No…whom else did you have with you?” she felt a bit relieved that he had someone left to take care of him. Inuyasha laughed softly as he heard her thought, “Well my brother is not the coddling type…” Kagome frowned and remember about Inuyasha older brother. “Oh yea I forgotten about him…he doesn’t like to talk does he?” Inuyasha laughed even more. “My brother likes to sit in silence then to chitchat…unless it was something important” she wrinkled her nose at that.


“So it only you and you’re brother then?” he shook his head no. “Who else?” she asked curiously, “I have a baby sister…” he smiled it had been so long since he thought about her. She was only ten years old when their parents were killed and he was about forty, a grown man in human standards, but as a Carpathian, he was still a fledging. He remembered the screams of his mother and the shove from his father as he told him to flee with his sister. But he did not want to leave them, but he had to protect his sister so he ran.


He ran to the place he knew Sesshomaru lie, he was about two hundred and fifty years of age, but he had achieved at being a wonderful hunter. “What’s her name?” he was brought from his thoughts and looked to Kagome, “Her name is Ayame…” “Ayame…that a nice name…I have not seen her at your house or perhaps she was there” she mumbled the last part. “No, Ayame is not with us…we had left her back home where she would be safe. Our Prince guards her, while we are sent to hunt.”

Kagome stood back and thought about something, “Inuyasha how long have you last seen her?” he thought about it for a moment “It been five hundred years or so” she blinked in surprise “Oh wow! Please tell me you call once in a while…” she couldn’t imagine going two days without talking to her family or friends. “Sesshomaru and I keep in touch with our sister, we speak through telepathy, she is happy to know that she is going to have a sister” he smiled.


Kagome looked in surprise “Are you talking to her now?” he nodded yes and connected with her. Big brother! Is this your lifemate? A soft feminine voice sounded through their mind, they felt the excitement in the woman voice. Yes Ayame this is my mate…he looked to Kagome. She was stun, never in her life had she experience such a thing, she hesitated for a bit but soon greeted the woman. Hi! I’m Kagome I’m glad to meet you…she trailed off.


Hello, sister! I’m so happy that you came into our lives and I cannot wait to meet you…my brother Sesshomaru did not give me much detail about you two he simply called Yashie an imbecile… she laughed. Inuyasha crooked a brow at that Why am I an imbecile in our brother eyes, Ayame… Kagome laughed a bit but waited for the woman response. Because you have yet to bind you’re lifemate to you, so he finds it stupid…she cleared her throat and imitated Sesshomaru voice ‘If I have found my woman I would bind her at once instead of letting her run around’ I love Sesshomaru and all, but I hope his lifemate gives him hell… her laughter twinkled through their mind.


Kagome sort of agreed with that! It sounded like Inuyasha brother was a hardass, but their sister sounded so mischievous to her. “That because she is…” Inuyasha said and indicated that he could read her thoughts. She stuck her tongue out at him, “Stay out buster!” she laughed. Inuyasha listened to them as they both talked to one another; he was swelled with so much happiness. He felt the love that he held for his baby sister, he looked at Kagome he will love her for everything she had given to him.


Yashie…he heard Ayame questioning tone. What is a matter, Ayame? He heard her sighed. I been trying to contact Sesshomaru, but he has been blocking me lately, to the point when he does answer, he makes it brief and blocks me…I’m worried Inuyasha frowned. Do not worry about him. You know how he is…he only trying to protect you, he being the same to me as well…he said with a touch of sadness. Kagome moved closer to Inuyasha to hold him so she could comfort him.


I wish to see you all…can I please visit you? I want to meet my new sister…Kagome could hear the hope in the woman voice, but she frowned at the thought they were already considering her family. Even though she really liked the idea, but she barely knew Inuyasha to even consider having any relationship with him. Inuyasha kissed her forehead, We will see Ayame, but right now I have certain things to do and you should be in bed now…they heard a snort and Kagome had the feeling that Ayame was sticking her tongue out at Inuyasha, she really would like to meet this woman.


Very well…but I shall keep in touch…good night Kagome I hope to meet you very soon…Kagome smiled, Perhaps we will and goodnight or morning…she laughed. Inuyasha felt his sister disconnect from them and he looked to his Kagome, “You both have not even met in person and she likes you already…”he caressed her cheek. “What can I say…I’m a very likeable person…” she laughed.

“I must agree to that…” he smiled. “You’re sister sound really nice, so does she have someone as well?” “No, Ayame has not been claimed. She has no lifemate, well not right now…” he really felt a surge of protectiveness over his sister, and he really could not picture his baby sister mated with someone without him or Sesshomaru checking if her lifemate is able to protect her. Kagome laughed, “I guess big brothers can’t stand back without threatening their sister boyfriends…” Inuyasha smirked, amused as well.


“Our kinds do not date…we have lifemate’s and they are everything to us” “Is Ayame like Sesshomaru? Like no color no feelings? Which seem impossible hearing her laughing and teasing you two, I don’t think anyone can fake those feelings” she mused. He shook his head no, “Ayame has feeling and can see color. Only males of our kinds are cursed with it…” she nodded her understanding. “Inuyasha, what did Ayame meant about the binding thing?” he moved to scratch the bridge of his nose, “As a Carpathian male who has found his lifemate must say some words to bind their lifemates to them. Also the couple must exchange blood as well as sharing their body with one another…” he looked at her with a flicker of desire in his eyes.


Kagome blushed, “But you already took my blood and…are you and me…” she could not finish her question. “No, you are different. You and I had only exchange once, though it would be enough for as to share with one another thoughts and feelings, but with two more exchange you would become like me…” Kagome crossed her arms around her waist almost hugging herself. What Inuyasha was telling her was so morbid, like who would have thought she meet someone like this.


And she thought Sango could pick the perverts and nuts, though she married Miroku but that was beside the point. She in front of a man that could change her whole world granted that it already shaky as it is. He sensed her discomfort and worries “Do not worry I will not force you to do anything you do not want…” Kagome looked up to him; she nibbled at her lower lip. “Is there anything else I should know?” she could have accepted what Inuyasha told her, but she felt like there were more to this.


As if this may not affect her much but it would him. He kept silent, he could not lie to his lifemate but he was not going to tell her. He shielded his thoughts and struggles from her; he wanted her to choose him. He was being an idiot, doing this would perhaps drive him toward the edge but he wished that she would come to him to want him as much as he wanted her.


He craved her, but he was not going to force her into anything else. She deserved to have the chance to decide. If she felt she couldn’t live in his world then he will be part of hers. He will never leave her side, he will grow old with her, he would give up everything just to be by her side and keep her happy. “Inuyasha…” she was cut off as the windows shattered.

Sesshomaru tailed down the master vampire; he evaded the vampire traps and killed at least five of his pawns and turned to a white wolf to chase it down. He stopped as the vampire disappeared from his grasps; he heard it screech and watched the glass fall all around him.


He sensed Inuyasha at that instant; it seemed the vampire found something that would perhaps put his brother woman in danger. He watched at the shadow of the evil vampire disappear quickly. Sesshomaru felt at that instant that the thing had disappeared from his senses once again, but soon felt others nearing; more pawns sent to slow them down.



Inuyasha held Kagome in his arms before the windows shattered, being pelted by glass against his back. He shielded Kagome so the vampire would not sense her presence. He growled deep in his throat, the audacity that the thing dares to look for his mate to even destroy her home in such a way. He felt it leave and looked down at Kagome as she clutched to him, he felt her fear. He saw only red now, he let go of Kagome “I have to go” he growled.


“Inuyasha…” she looked at him, a bit afraid of what happen and also the way he looked. She heard someone by the window and saw Inuyasha older brother. She was pulled back into Inuyasha he turned to face his brother placing Kagome behind him. “Take hold of yourself brother” Sesshomaru said stoically. “That will only happen once I have its heart…” he snarled back. Sesshomaru glance over to Kagome and rested his eyes on Inuyasha, “Control yourself Inuyasha or else you’ll make your woman fear you as well…” Inuyasha cursed in his old language and sense a bit of Kagome fear.


He breathed deeply looking for his calmness or else he would not be able to fight. Sesshomaru felt Inuyasha anger receding, “Very good…others are coming this way, and you must place your woman in a safe place. Take her back to the house and place safeguards I’ll await you at the battlefield…” he then shape shifted into an owl, Kagome gaped at Sesshomaru as he turned into an owl and soon flew off. “I must be watching things…” she blinked a couple of times.


He turned and took hold of her hand, “Come we have to go…” he walked with her toward the window. Kagome pulled back, “What? Are you nuts? We’re on the fourth floor!” she yelled at him. Inuyasha took hold of her shoulder and moved his arm behind her knees and swept her into his arms. “Wait! Don’t you dare!” she struggled in his grasps, already dreading what he was going to do next.

“Do not worry love” he kissed her forehead and jumped out the window. In all her life this was the fifth time in her life that she screamed. Inuyasha landed on his feet with a thud, he looked at Kagome as she grasped the front of his shirt with a death grip. He moved with speed toward his home.


The doors to his home opened and soon shut behind them, he placed Kagome down. “Inuyasha are you trying to kill me or something!” she yelled at him as she stepped away from him. “I’m sorry love but we were in a hurry…” Kagome sighed and shook her head. She watched as Inuyasha turned away from her and headed to the door, “Wait! Where are you going?” he turned slightly, “I’m going to help Sesshomaru and it is also my duty as well” he said it in a tone as if he were talking about the weather.


“You’re going to fight those things? You must be out of your mind! You and your brother…you can’t go” she felt her heart pounding in fear, not for herself but for him. Inuyasha smiled and moved to kiss her; he was touch by her concerns. He pulled away, “I must go Kagome, stay inside and let no one in…” he turned to mist and left the house, he set up safeguard around the house making sure that Kagome was safe. Kagome clutch her hands together Inuyasha please be careful…she reached him through their link.

It was eerie, there was no wind and the animals had gone silent or scurry away from danger. Sesshomaru stood in the middle of a field, Inuyasha glided down to reappeared by his brother side, “How many do you think there is?” Sesshomaru did not turned, not even a glance to Inuyasha. “I would say about ten…but then again I could be wrong” Inuyasha scoffed “Like you can ever be wrong…Kagome was not sense by that thing” he growled. “Good” he simply said.


“Sesshomaru, if something should go wrong tonight take care of my lifemate” this time Sesshomaru glance over to his brother, “Don’t be stupid, Inuyasha. We come a long way to be defeated now and I will not take care of your woman for she is your job to take care off, so refrain from dying” in some way Sesshomaru was scolding him for even uttering nonsense in his case.


Inuyasha was ready to say something else but closed his mouth as he sensed something heading their way. He narrowed his eyes and spotted a couple of red eyes surrounding them also growling. “It seems they sent out some wolves on us…” Inuyasha sighed he hated when vampires turned such wonderful creature into rabid things. Inuyasha turned cold stone, no emotion marred his face, and he became like his brother, stoic and ready to fight. Two wolves charged toward Inuyasha and rest toward Sesshomaru.


Inuyasha grabbed one of the animals by the jaws while the other tried to claw at his back. He kicked the other behind him across the face hearing a yelp then turned his attention to the one he held by the jaw. He felt the drips of it drool over his hands, he twist it neck until he heard a snap and fling it away from him. He watched as the one he knocked to the ground came at him, the air stir around him as he made fire within his hands and aimed it at the wolf and the other he killed.


He felt thuds and heard lighting across the sky and watched as his brother incinerated the other wolves. Inuyasha watched as shadows creep closer to them and soon they were surrounded by vampires, Inuyasha was able to smell the decay of their bodies; he even seen that some had recently turned. “Seems like old time, eh bro?” Sesshomaru watched at the vampires that snarled and bared their blackening fangs at them. “Yes, let make sure we stay with the tradition…”


Inuyasha watched as some vampires charged toward. He created more fireballs into his hands and felt as his brother moved to destroy his side. He aimed his fire directly at two, hitting their chest as the fire burrow toward their hearts. He then moved shoving his hand into another vampire chest, the vile being struggled and screeched to get Inuyasha away. The vampire’s blood was the most deadly thing, being that it was basically acid but Inuyasha had enough experience to close off from any pain.


He was struck from behind, he cursed under his breath as he was then struck from the side. He pulled the heart from the other and kicked the other away from him. He called forth for lighting to destroy the heart within his hand and the body of the vampire that flopped on the ground. He used the same technique to sear the other two that struck him. Inuyasha was now bloody as his brother took out a few others he joined Inuyasha toward the middle.


They stood back-to-back “Is it me or are these things multiplying like roaches…” he stood up straight though he lost quite an amount of blood. “In your term little brother ‘We’re screwed’…” “So are you saying we’re going to die then…” “No, but I can say that we’re going to feel it tomorrow evening…” Inuyasha chuckled at that. It was then they notice another presence one that strike through two vampires. “Need any help?” a man with brown eyes and black hair, which was held in a ponytail, stood before them.

“It seem like we do…” Sesshomaru stated. If it was any other time they would be warily of the newcomer but being in the situation they were in they will ask their questions later. All three joined together as the vampires charged toward them. Inuyasha took on three as the other took two on and Sesshomaru the rest.


He really didn’t know how long they were at it, but they heard the last screams of a vampire that his brother killed. Breathing heavily Inuyasha turned to his brother who also had a few wounds and was also a bit bloody. They brought their attention back to the unknown stranger as he had some wounds and a bit of blood staining his clothes.

Inuyasha walked toward the stranger cautiously, “Thanks for your help…” he inclined his head at his direction, “Glad I was here to help…” he gave a slight smile though it was emotionless. “It been quite a while since we have seen one of our kind” Sesshomaru announced. “Same goes here…my name is Koga Yui” “I’m Inuyasha Koujima and this is my brother Sesshomaru” Koga turned his attention to Sesshomaru as he cleaned up the mess on the field.


Like always the vampire’s blood seemed to have damage the earth around them. Inuyasha scowl at the sight, “Tonight keeps getting more straining as ever…” Koga announced, “You don’t rarely get to see so many band together” Sesshomaru finished his cleansing and walked toward them, “I have reasons to believe that a master vampire is in town, but keeps evading me…” Sesshomaru looked to both of them with a stoic face. “Yes I also felt the same thing, I came to investigate and instead I find two hunters battling with an overflowing mass of vampires…though I must say you two put on quite a wonderful fight…”


Inuyasha smiled at that “Well I have to say the same to you, I was impress at your skills” Inuyasha reached out a hand toward Koga direction, they clasps arms as warrior and Sesshomaru had done the same. Sesshomaru scowled toward Inuyasha, scenting his blood and looking at the injury at his brother side. “Damn, you became careless, Inuyasha” Inuyasha laughed at that, it been a long time since he heard his brother curse. “The wound seems pretty deep…you should get to ground soon to heal” Koga suggested.


“I can’t my woman would worry…” “You have a lifemate…” Koga questioned. “He has found her recently, but I think she would worry more seeing you as you are…” Inuyasha moved a hand to his side he was losing blood profusely, he felt drained. Inuyasha… Are you okay? He heard the worry tone of Kagome I’m all right I’ll be home soon…Sesshomaru took a hold of Inuyasha “Come Inuyasha, I must place you to ground” he grasps Sesshomaru arm. “I will be heading back to my mate,” he growled.


“I will take care of her, you must go and heal” Koga looked to both brothers, “I think it should be the best…I’m not exactly wounded to badly but I shall patrol for the rest of the night” Sesshomaru nodded his head toward him; he watched as Koga turned to a black wolf and ran off. He took a hold of Inuyasha and took him away from the battlefield. He found a cave that held rich soil that would be able to help heal his brother wounds.


“Sesshomaru…I must get to Kagome” Sesshomaru had prepared Inuyasha resting spot deep into the cave, “She will understand. I will go and see her and explain the situation” he felt Sesshomaru discomfort, he laughed as his brother place him down in the earth “She needs someone to talk to her, so you cannot be silent or you’ll make her nervous” Sesshomaru growled. “See this is why I should go to her…” “Stay where you are…I will keep you’re woman company until dawn” “But you must try to at least chat with Kagome and do not frighten her…”


“I am not frightening,” he stated, Inuyasha simply laughed at that. Sesshomaru sighed, “Rest brother and I will try my best not to frighten her…” he moved the soil over his brother. He left the cave and felt the safeguard Inuyasha had placed, he too put safeguard of his own, for he was not going to take chances on his brother life not when he had a lifemate that would need him.



Kagome walked back and forth in the living room, she bit lightly on her thumb waiting for Inuyasha to come back. She was on the edge of walking out the door and hunting him down. Would it always be like this? Waiting for him when he goes hunting not knowing if he okay or something! She sighed in frustration, “Where the hell are you Inuyasha!” “My brother is resting…” she yelped and turned around to face Sesshomaru.


She placed a hand to her heart as she looked at Sesshomaru “Oh geez! You scared the heck out of me…” Sesshomaru walked over to his armchair and sat down as he looked at Kagome. She felt a bit nervous with Sesshomaru here, especially the way he was staring at her. “Um…how…how did you get in? I thought…” “It is also my home, but I suppose I should had enter in another matter” she frowned at him and looked to the chimney.


“Where’s Inuyasha?” Sesshomaru crossed his legs, he looked very serene at that moment but it wasn’t enough to settle Kagome nerves. “Inuyasha had been injured quite a bit in battle so I have place him in the ground so he can heal his wounds” Kagome eyes widen and she stepped forward to Sesshomaru, “Is he okay? How bad is it? And why is he in the ground?” she was basically freaking out, why would Inuyasha be in the ground unless he was…Oh god… He looked at his brother woman, if it was anyone else he suppose this would be somewhat funny.


He felt a stir in his mind Brother be nice…Kagome is very delicate…it was Ayame, even though she should be in the sleep of their people he suppose she could sense Kagome feeling from the other side of the world. “Calm down” he said calmly. “As a hunter we all get injuries that sometimes could be fatal, in my brother case there not too deadly and he will be up the next evening feeling like new…” Kagome abruptly sat down on the couch clenching her hands together, “But that doesn’t explain why he in the…ground”


“Did Inuyasha not mention what we are?” she nodded her head yes. “Then as Carpathians we need the soil to heal us and so we go to ground. That is where we sometimes lie even when not hurt” “Why?” “It a way for us to protect our self from everyone…and to escape from the sun as well” Kagome nibbled her lower lips. “Are you not hurt like Inuyasha as well?” “I have an injury or two, but they are not so bad. Beside I have given my word to my brother that I would keep you company until dawn…”



She stared at him surprise; she never took Sesshomaru as doing something so chivalrous for his brother, but then again Inuyasha had admiration for this man. “Um…thank you…but won’t you’re lifemate worry?” he narrow his eyes slightly to her, he looked stoic, and he knew that her question were innocent. “I have no lifemate,” he said simply. Kagome frowned, “Why not? A guy with your look and built would most likely have women throw themselves at you…” she trailed off as she also thought the same for Inuyasha; he could also have any woman he wants and that made her uneasy also a bit jealous.


She shook her head and scolded herself for being stupid. “It not that easy for our kind…we are given one lifemate and we must find her. She is our light; she is everything to us… Without her we are nothing. As for my brother, he has only eyes for you. There is no need to worry for infidelities from him…” “Did you read my thoughts?” he nodded his head in yes.


“Please refrain from doing that…I think I have enough when Inuyasha is running around there I really don’t need another inside there as well” Sesshomaru gave a slight emotionless smile, “Do not worry little sister I will refrain from doing it again” Kagome frowned, “So when will you find her? Or you haven’t been looking?” Sesshomaru sighed, he never really like having conservations, not unless it was of importance, but his sensed that his sister kin felt more relax when he talked to her, but her questions felt unnerving for him.


“I have no time to look for a female that does not exist” Kagome looked shocked at him “What do you mean?” Inuyasha had always thanked her for giving everything back to him; that she was the one he looked for. She thought that Sesshomaru would be searching for his other half. She looked into Inuyasha mind and found his hope that his older brother would have the hope of searching for his other half.


“You ask a lot of personal questions, don’t you sister…” “I’m sorry. I just find it hard to believe that a man like you who’ve took care of his siblings on his own, teaching them, caring for them. Even giving Inuyasha hope and strength that he would be able to find his lifemate…and you have none of that hope within you,” she said sorrowfully. She had gotten all those details and feeling when she was within Inuyasha mind, when his tone changes when he spoke of his older brother.


Sesshomaru stared at her intently, he usually did not talk about himself much and if he were any other person perhaps he would be touched by her words but he was not. “Little sister I thank you for your concerns and for saving my brother…but I had learned a long time ago that it best to give up on your hopes and save the others that have a chance…” Kagome clenched her hands once again, it was so sad to see someone so defeated, even if he didn’t express it she could sense that what he was, defeated and accepting of his fate.


“Do all males of your kind feel this? Did Inuyasha felt that way as well?” she couldn’t bear it for some reason that Inuyasha would also be like Sesshomaru, her heart broke at the thought of Inuyasha giving up to finding her. She felt a stirring in her mind, she breathed in deeply, for it was Inuyasha. He was trying to comfort her, even though he was injured and should be resting Kagome…are you all right? She heard his husky voice against the walls of her mind.


“Tell him to go to sleep, he should not be up when he should be healing” Sesshomaru stated. Kagome blinked at him, Inuyasha I’m alright…I’m being a bit silly, please go back to sleep I want you to be in perfect condition so I can strangle you for getting hurt…she growled at him. She heard his laughter and her heart melted, Very well love, but do not take everything Sesshomaru say seriously…he will find his lifemate I think he only has doubts is all…she felt Inuyasha close off to her, maybe he was right. Everyone always has doubts about many things and usually lose some faith in certain things.


She looked to Sesshomaru he looked calm, and he was quite a specimen. Sango would most likely put him in the drop dead gorgeous category, but as for Inuyasha. Kagome smiled, she would put him in the yummy category. “I think I was reprimand by my little brother…” Kagome blushed, “I’m sorry…” “It quite alright…he felt you become upset, I think I should apologize for that” “Sesshomaru may I ask you something? And please don’t avoid it like Inuyasha has…” he arched a brow at her and nodded his head “Very well…shoot” she held back a laugh as she heard that word leave his mouth, it sounded out of place to her.


“Inuyasha told me about the whole binding thing, but I feel like he left something out. I mean he sounded like he could wait for me to get comfortable with him, but I feel like he forgot to tell me something else” she looked at him with a serious face, showing that she was not afraid of what answers he would give her just as long as she knew the truth. “Inuyasha has definitely lost his mind” she frowned at him. “He should had bind you the moment you two have met, but it seemed that he is avoiding it until you accept him completely”


“What do you mean?” she gave a slight pout. “My brother has this strange notion to have you want him, to choose him. He wishes not to force you into our world” he moved a hand so he would be able to rest the side of his head against it as he looked at her. “If my brother waits any longer to take you completely as his, he will lose to the darkness within him” Kagome gasped, “But I thought he was safe from that” “No, he needs more than that and I think he told you some of it already…” she looked away, her face was heated.

But she was a bit ticked at Inuyasha for not telling her this; he was risking himself for her comfort, for her affection. “Is your brother always this stubborn?” she turned to face Sesshomaru, “Yes, but I guess it hereditary…” he trailed off. Kagome blew at her bangs; she was going to have a long talk with Inuyasha when he returns. She stood up “Thank you Sesshomaru, I know it must be hard for you to be talking to someone else…” she gave him a smile.


He nodded his head, “The sun shall be rising soon…you should go to bed and it is best that this time you do not leave the premises” he rose from his armchair to his full height. Kagome scowled, she didn’t like being told what to do, but seeing the freaky things she seen tonight she would oblige him.



Sesshomaru was about to shape-shift but instead decided against it for his sister kin sake. “Well have a good morning…and I would guess you already know where your bedroom is…” she smiled and nodded, “Yes I do…” she then yawned a bit, she practically had a heck of a night and she was ready to pass out.


Sesshomaru walked to the front of the door, he scanned outside, it was out of habit. He inclined his head to Kagome and soon left the house. Kagome closed the door and locked it, she was alone in a huge house and Inuyasha was not even here to comfort her or at least say something sweet to her. Not even a hot searing kiss.


She went up the stairs and down to the room she slept in last night. She took off her shoes and slipped under the covers. She placed her head on the pillows and took hold of one in her arms. She could smell Inuyasha husky, maleness scent on it. She craved to have him holding her; she never thought she would think about any man like this. She clutches the pillow toward her and fell asleep.

Okay my editing is done somewhat, hope everything here is a bit better and I shall definitely be working on the next chapter. I’ve had some of it done for a while but I totally got stuck at a certain point :P but I’m hoping I’ll get pass it and hopefully put it up soon ^^;

Ah I was questioned if Sesshy was going to get his own story…I have to say maybe, depends if I finish this baby up and if I can finally decide who Sesshomaru lifemate going to be lol… but other than that I shall be brainstorming this weekend if no distraction happens, so I can give you guys, who have encourage me to continue, what you deserve, I’ve never forgotten about this fanfic, just had a few walls that I needed to break down and I will definitely be breaking them to give ya’ll what ya crave!
